What does that mean? Is that, like, a grade point average?

What does that get you in the full scheme of things??

Okay, I don't know how to translate it into American but I will try my best to explain it and hopefully you will understand.

The rankings go:

1st
2:1
2:2
3rd
Fail

Not many people get a 1st and the vast majority of people aim to get a 2:1. Which is what I got. A 2:1 is normally what companies require for you to apply for the graduate programmes. Like this food retail company that I've just applied for. They require you to have a 2:1 or a 1st. If I'm successful I will start on £40,000 ($80,000) a year and I will also get a car. I'm praying that I succeed and get the graduate programme with Aldi. I would be earning more money than my mum and 2/3rds of what my dad ears despite the fact I would be only 21!

1st - A
2:1 - B
2:2 - C
3rd - D
Fail - F

Yeah, generally, for graduate programs in the US you would need an A or B average.

Aldi! We have them in the U.S.! What would they have you doing for them?? Sounds like a really good job opportunity. Very few U.S. companies start graduates off at that type of money unless they have a specialty degree like MBA, Law or Engineering! Hope you get the job. Sleep with the recruiter if you have to, and lay off the nose candy.

Do companies in the UK do drug tests before hireing? They do here in the states (unless it is a Union job) almost always.

P.S. If you need a glowing letter of recommendation, I'd be happy to write one for you!

Assuming it's college and not high school:

1st -> 4.0 GPA
2:1 -> 3.0
2:2 -> 2.0
3rd -> 1.0
Fail -> 0.0

What. The. ****!

Forty grand? And a car? What the hell?!

Now, I'm not in healthcare for the money, but I won't be earning that for a looong time. The starting pay I can expect is a little over half that!

That's rediculous!

Also... I really need to be working on my dissertation right now. If I didn't, I'd be outraged some more.

But congrats. I'm gunning for a 2:1.
