Admiral Mustang stood in the bridge of the UNV (Ulganian Naval Vessel) Pegasus. It was to be the flagship of Indian-Command, which had essentially absorbed Pacific-Command and Southern-Command, as well as the surplus ships that just being finished in the Commendia Shipyards.

Mustang looked over the current mission at hand.

---

ATTN ADMIRAL MUSTANG

Begin operations by hitting smaller naval targets north of French Madagascar. Once the element of surprise is lost, reform forces to prepare for a general strike on the fleet. NOCOM will join from Morrocon, and HOCOM will be staying back until reinforcements are needed. Commence operations as you see fit.

-R. Valentine

---

The Admiral crumpled the note, and double-checked all fleet positions.

“So, where are the two closest positions we can hit before they can counter-attack?” he asked.

A map was brought up on one of the Heads Up Displays showing the western Indian Ocean. Two small red dots popped up nearby, with more red dots slightly farther off, and a larger density of them closer to the coast of Menhad.

“Right, split the fleet and hit the two closest positions. Send carriers Mercury, Triton, and Columbia to head up the operation to hit the northern-most position. Vice-Admiral Fisk is to head the operation using those carriers, and PACCOM. This should get Menhad’s attention.”

36 hours later

“Sir, Vice-Admiral Fisk has reported a success with his strike. Three birds were lost and cruiser received moderate damage. He should be able to merge with the fleet in twelve hours,” Mustang heard upon entering the bridge.

Instead of responding to the news, he inquired about his fleet’s target.

“Sir, we can launch our birds any time. The target is a cruiser and two destroyers, so we shouldn’t be too concerned over losses.”

“Never think of an operation like that. Always fight like the odds are against you. Get the birds in the air and make sure they get back,” he said as he monitored the HUD in the bridge.

---

Heavy transports had been coming and going all day. The base had been established by covert black ops teams the night before, and was located in the lawless lands outside of Menhad’s. The speed at which the base was established outpaced the Ulganian press, which had been all over the military buildup. Now, at approx 2 PM Ulganian Standard Time, Airborne infantry were receiving orders for boarding several transports preparing for drop in the night over Menhad. This attack would be risky, but twenty thousand soldiers were preparing for a drop with heavy air support over a south-western Menhad civilian airport. Securing this would be a first step in getting further operations going in Menhad. Being able to secure even a little airspace would prove beneficial in this fight. Menhad and Ulgania were evenly matched, so something would have to budge quickly for them to get a foothold. This was Menhadian turf.

12 hours later

The first sorties went out when the cloud cover cleared. Some of Menhad’s forces were located in the area because of the mass buildup, but the curtain of darkness made things difficult for anti-air guns.

The civilian area around the airport made capturing it a little easier than expected, however retaliation was quick to come. Expecting to get the word from command that a massive assault would arrive any second, the engineers quickly set up artillery pieces around the airport in the night and began taking out government buildings and general utilities in the town. The airport was relatively big, and a force of 400 jets - 200 PA-15s and 200 PA-12s - was slowly arriving, 1 every 90 seconds or so. A cap was in the air, patrolling the area for any sign of the enemy in night, but nothing had appeared yet. They knew morning would come before long, and they would need to hold the sky, and get boots on the ground to hold the city. By sunup, five-hundred-thousand mechanized infantry soldiers would be in the city, with another two million on the way for that day. This fight was going to begin brutally. As long as they could move the forces in that night…

OOC: Thought I'd clarify things before getting going. By sunup, the goal is 2.5 million mechanized infantry, 1 million GIs, and 1 million Spec Ops. Vehicles were unloaded soon after airborne secured the area. to the amount of 250 main battle tanks, 100 light tanks, and all my other vehicles. Troops are being moved in to that position by way of heavy transports and my fleet of transport choppers.

Naval strength:
14 carriers
4 amphibious assault ships
100 submarines
200 destroyers
120 cruisers
75 frigates
30 mine hunters

300 PA-11s (Carrier Borne, mainly AtoA)
18 LiP-34s (Mainly recon)
130 PA-12s (Multirole Carrier Borne)
32 PA-25s (Carrier borne fighter-bomber
100 PA-15s (Land-based AtoA)

All of these can go 1 on 1 with an F-22, as can my 400 PA-12s and PA-15s.

Menhad just took a one-two punch from Ulgania, first at sea and then an airborne drop on a small Menhadien city called Kakamega.
____________________________________________________________________________________

On the sea Menhadien satellites could see the gathering Ulgania fleet, and to keep them seperate would help the Menhadien cause.

"Alpha One, this is Zulu One. Zulu flight ready to engage."

"Roger that Zulu One, wait till Delta Flight is ready to engage."

"Alpha One, this is Delta One. Delta Flight is ready to engage."

"Green light! Green light to engage!"

300 F-22 raptors, hidden to the enemy radar, swooped down on the Ulgania fleet. Missiles streak and hit the ships, the Ulganians were unprepared for an aerial attack.

As the jets provided a distraction, the Menhadien fleet came out swinging, ships charged with guns blazing.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Kakamega

Kalonzo Musyoka was 12 when the Menhadien came and brought hope back to the shattered region. He was in a local militia that fought for the Menhadiens, as they brought other warlords under control. He always kept his AK-101 that the Menhadiens gave him.

Kalonzo Musyoka was 46 when the Ulganians brought war back to the region. His days of fighting had gone, he served in the German Civil War, and earned a Valor Star, awarded to those who served in combat with valor beyond those of their fellow soldiers.

Now he looked that his medal, and had his AK-101 in his lap, he didn't want his nation to be brought back to the anarchy that had his parents killed when he was 8.

He looked out the window of his aparment, and he saw a line of Ulganian paratroops walking down the street. He grabbed his gun, he aimed.

Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!Blam!

The 8 paratroopers that stood in the street where now crawling on the ground, holding onto their guts. These men would die a slow, painful death in the hot summer sun.
____________________________________________________________________________________

Menhad had expected an attack, and was quickly able to counter attack.

400 F-22 flew towards the Ulganian controlled airbase. The Ulganians quickly scrambled fighters to engaged the threat, but they where too few, and could not hold out against the Menhadiens.

But this was a Menhadien city, and Menhadien command did not want to destroy their own people, so the artillery outside of the city couldn't fire. The infantry was still being mobalized and an assult on the city would have to wait.

Silence. One portion of Northern Menhad was silent.

Then, the desert roared. Three seperate caravans of Tupolev Tu-95 bombers, escorted by Mirage 2000 fighter jets screamed across the oasis-like andscape, soiling the countryside with their explosives.

The attack had already begun in the South, and it was the belief that this conflict could be heated quickly with a skewer. A skewer that Field Marshall Kadias Meche had hoped to quickly press on. Having earned his new comission in the conflict in the Middle East, Meche had been a previous veteran of the Zeelari Civil War. He was not unfamilar with the ways of conflict.

He had an almost god like presence as he commanded artillary brigades without words. Rather, he simply made motions towards the map before him and, silently, Transporter-Erectors were moved into position.

Knowing that this heavy artillary could not be used once the infantry invaded wholly, Meche had decided to make full use of it until such a time came. Joining the air attack were a great number of Scud-B convential missles.

M113 landcraft followed in their wake, carrying the invasion force, and QF Howitzers, that would begin the second stage of the attack. However, these brave souls knew all too well that Menhad was not going to come easy.

Along the southern-most Morroconian border....

Thousands of 2S7s, 203-mm PION Self-propelled Guns, complete with howitzers, and Sukhois blanketed the skies with their mighty roar into Menhad. The war had begun for Morrocon. 3.2 million legionaires began their incursion into Menhad. Their targets...Wajir, Lake Turkana, and Marsabit. The objective, overwhelm and overtake the overstretch Menhadian defenders who had so long defiled Mother Africa with their unholy presence. The sign of the cross was made, the carnage unfolded with built up malice that the centuries could not answer.

The Morroconians were taking some precautions, such an advance would not come cheaply...aerial patrols were set up along the Morroconian-Menhadian border. To the south the Ulganians were already fully engaged, now the Zeelarians and Morroconians were pouring in.

Indian Ocean

Admiral Ihataunto Sefisyme, commander of the East Indian Ocean Navy, was given less than admirable news. The West Indian Ocean Navy was to redeploy to African Menhad, but a complement of the Gulf of Aden Navy would arrive soon to shore up the naval defenses of the Straits of Hormuz.

The force at the air base in Kakamega was taking a hit. The F-22s were screaming overhead, taking out Ulganian positions on the airbase. However hard they hit, they still held back to prevent civilian casualties which helped the slow crawl to get birds in the air.

Artillery pieces fired flak and a series of SAM-vehicles were firing off rockets as fast they could be loaded. It was tricky, but the F-22s were being picked off a few at a time. The Ulganians were slow to respond, but they were still prepared for the attack in the dimness of morning.

Even the cap had been all but wiped out, with small groups managing to get through the havoc reinforcements soon came from the air base established just outside of Menhad’s border. The trickle of planes into the airport had worked, and a full launch was bringing Ulganian planes over Kakamega. While transports and helicopters had gone in full advance, the 400 jets prepared would mostly wait, with only 2 air-groups moving in before dawn. The first group was the one first taken down by Menhad’s F-22s, managing to regroup and pull out a dozen kills before either being finished, or limping off to the other air base with what remained of their fuel. The Ulgan force was coming into Menhad, and would soon be engaging. The current plan was to hit with 300 planes after the counter-attack had begun, and hit them when they were beginning to run low on fuel and ammunition.

By the time the planes were arriving, a fog of war was covering much of the city. Wreckage of planes was spotted as the 100 PA-15s, and 200 PA-12s swept over the outskirts of the city. The steady formation of planes crept towards the airbase, and once within view of the enemy airfleet slowed, and prepared for their first pass with weapons hot and triggers ready to cut loose.

On the ground, patrols were quickly being recalled as Ulganian air support arrived en masse. As some patrols watched the Ulganian ships scream by overhead, the cheered in support, while others limped back from civilian retaliation. A report told of a few being entirely wiped out. Regardless, they all saw the task ahead of them. Once the Menhad fighters were forced to leave, whether because of low fuel, low ammo, or Ulganian supremacy in the air the runway needed to be cleared so birds could land.

---

At sea, Admiral Mustang watched the sky around his fleet become pot-marked by anti-air guns. Missiles streaked at their ships as what the radar station identified as F-22s came streaking towards them. Few were brought down easily, as their element of surprise had managed to catch the fleet slightly unaware, but once they saw the enemy the guns started to blaze.

A report came that the Menhad fleet was baring down on the from the northwest, closing in on Vice-Admiral Fisk’s position. They had started to move the moment the Ulganian fleet split. Mustang ordered cruisers to take up formations to head off the oncoming fleet, and to scramble fighters on all carriers.

Mustang knew his fleet was receiving a pounding, but would repay the souls of burning ships by not allowing the Menhadian Raptors to escape unscathed.

Carriers were soon reporting full deployments, and destroyers were reporting kills from their AA guns. All that was left was to wait for Menhad’s fleet do meet Mustang’s submarines, destroyers, and cruisers.

As Morroconian legions poured over the border, Zeelari command made sure to protect their advance. The Morroconian Sukhois would find themselves amply protected by hastily erected Skysweeper antiaircraft equiptment.

These screens would serve well to also compliment the fighters that were needed to continue to escort the bombing operations that Zeelar's Tu-95s were operating.

It came time, however, for Zeelari troops to join in the full combat duty rule that Morroconian troops were fufilling. An additional million soldiers were placed into position, now that transit systems had been able to deliever these extra boots on the ground. Never the less, the air coverage had to be maintained. This was becoming increasingly more difficult, and reports were coming in that an entire squadron had now been downed in its efforts to defend bombing missions.

Perhaps due to the Anarchist ideology, Zeelari troops seemed to have a certain affinity (read unhealthy addiction) involving explosive devices. As well as their standard issue rifles and combat shotguns, several brigades had been issued Panzerschreck Rocket Launchers and were wasting no time in making use of them against Menhadian positions.

These troops were hastened to the front, fearful of the fact that their earlier compatriots, regardless of armor and artillary, were under the constant threat of their position at the front lines. Menhadian guardsmen had already taken a large toll on them, and they were in desperate need of reinforcements.

Air support was rapidly shifted, to give the infantry room to do its job. The launchers were once more sent on their way, focusing their newly freed attention on Lake Turkana. This was also the spot choosen to point aircraft towards, while Marshall Meche's battalion began an attempt to rally at Wajir, with Morroconian troops. Seperating from the artillary command, his 16 ISU-152 self-propelled weapons and 20 PT-91 tanks readied itself for the worst.

The Menhadien armed forces were fighting for their own survival. The enemy where coming from all sides, and the Menhadien forces where forced to pull back and regroup.
____________________________________________________________________________________

"They come with fire. They come with guns. They come with death. The mighty Menhadiens can not win with out God's help. We shall be the God's sword, we shall be his people's shield. To your guns men, forget your families, for you shall meet them again in heaven, when you sit at God's side"

The blind priest sat at the center of the village, and all the men stood around him. They all knew the grim task ahead of them, but they would defend their homelands to the death. They grabbed their guns and rode off to the front lines, many of them simple farmers, not soldiers, or they were cattle herders, not warriors. Across the country, men rode of against the grim odds, many of them would never return, but still their wives and childern cheer them on, with tears in their eyes.

The local militia aided the Menhadien forces, the locals knew the terrian and ambushes set up by them proved to be a great help
____________________________________________________________________________________

Nearly 1000 Menhadien F-22s stood against the invaders. Jets fought of the bombers and fighter, straffed infantry and attacked tanks. The Menhadien airforce was large, and powerful.

In a fit of flames, several more sorties of Zeelari planes went down. Whatever Menhad was loosing on the ground was far more than being made up for in the air. The Skysweeper gunners were doing their best to fight back at the jet fighters. They knew that they were cut off by the airial combat, and would not have any chance to have any further anti-aircraft equiptment moved in.

It was not long, though, before Zeelar discovered who they were fighting on the ground. In the typical fashion of war, some effort was giving to psychological operations as ordiance shells with propaganda were fired at enemy positions, offering fair conduct to those who would turn themselves over to Zeelari authorities and demanding that they do so.

That being said, Meche was certainly not going to go soft. To drive the point home that 'Anarchy is the Only Order,' high explosive shells continued to fill the air, clearing out positions as they went.

Ulganian ground forces faced the people coming toward them. A line of soldiers in a Kakamega square near the airports fortification saw a humbling sight. A large group of men slowly filtered into the square, and began to advance to the Ulganian line.

“Command, this is Position 9. We have a situation.”

This is Command Actual. Please respond.

“Command, a mob has formed, and they are advancing toward our line. We will be overrun soon.”

This is Command Actual. Please confirm, is this a civilian group?

“Confirmed. Civilian mob is advancing. Permission to fire?”

Do not open fire on civilians unless they strike first. Repeat, keep cold unless they go hot.

“Damn it. Fine,” the soldier said as he turned off the satellite phone. “Listen men, this isn’t going to be easy, but we can’t let them overtake us,” he said as one of the men running toward him brandished an AK-47. “If they look like they want to kill you, then fire.”

Within seconds, both sides began to open fire, but the Ulganians came out on top. The men rushing with guns were down, but the mob kept coming. The Ulganians knew they were out for their blood, so continued to fire until out of ammo. The mob overtook them, and killed them with what they had at hand.

---

Ulganian cruisers were taking hits just as fast as they could give them. Torpedoes rushed everywhere in the water, but both sides were gaining little ground. Vice-Admiral Fisk’s battle-group had finally limped back to the main group, and was redistributing its forces.

Admiral Mustang continued to receive word on guns scoring hits on Menhad’s ships. The massive plumes of smoke shown on the HUD screen confirmed them in the CIC of the Pegasus. Still, it was hard to get a clear idea on who was on top since the fight in the air was drawing to a stalemate. The air was black with smoke from anti-air guns and burning ships. The massive assault by both sides had blackened the skies, and as reports streamed in the smoke seemed to thicken more. A blast on a nearby destroyer caused a shockwave that made even the Pegasus rock a little.

Unfazed, Mustang made an order for Cruisers to concentrate fire on the middle of the Menhad line, while submarines and destroyers blasted away at will. He wanted the Menhad line to break. He wanted to get a chink in that line.

Underneath the cover of night, Mi-10 Skycranes erupted across the field, carrying Shilka defensive platforms to compliment the ailing Skysweepers. Several of these helicopters went down in a fiery blaze, though at least five were able to remain on target long enough to make the drop.

Meche's crews were quickly able to staff the surviving anti-aircraft platforms, and knew full well that they would be able to turn the ack-ack cannons against infantry if things got too far out of hand. For now, however, they turned their muzzles northward and began to place quite strong bolts into the air to continue the screen for their air support and bombing operations.

Regrouping, the remaining foot soldiers rallied around the successes of these armored divisions. Though many had been killed or wounded fighting the regulars, they had relatively high morale.

That was until they were approached by farmers coming forth from their fields, most unknowingly. Several of the rallying officers fell to the ground due to well placed shots, while what seemed to be a grenade took the lives of several more. The Zeelar troops began to return fire, attempted to ward them off with their submachine gun equipment. However, they were rapidly consumed by the battling irregulars.

As word got back of what seemed to be a farmer's revolt at hand, the Field Marshall faced a tough decision. He then ordered that the anti-aircraft designated Shilka machine canons be turned against the mob forces...

Farmer across the country where going off to fight and die for their nation, their heroism would not go unforgotten.

"The heroism displayed by the people of African Menhad is great than that of any other nation is history. Their selflessness and willingness to defend their homeland will be rembered in history, and warriors every where will stand in awe of them. The people of African Menhad deserve the highest award. That said, the army will give no more land to the enemy, no more standing idle, the army will defend Menhad to the death."

The people of African Menhad knew that they couldn't let their nation fall, many of them were raised when the region was in chaos, they didn't want their childern to live like that.

The army stiffend, all forces had been brought to the front, now the fight was in earnest. The gun were brought to bare. And while the fight was raging, reinforcements from Asia and Europe where coming, if the fight stalemated, then Menhad could bring in another 2.5 million soldiers.

Kakamega

Kalonzo Musyoka had found some other ex-soldiers, he had decided that the only way to be any help was to organize. He had a small army of 126, mostly old men and boys. But they had guns, some where snipers, others had Aks. They where fighting now, and Ulganian troops where falling in ambushes.

The 400 Apache Longbows the Menhadien had deployed where doing terrible damage, but many had fallen to the AA guns, those had to be removed. Artillery targeted the AA guns, while the jets kept up the fight.

At sea the battle was even, but the menhadien fleet was now trying to break the Ulgania line, and to do this another 200 F-22s joined the fight

Menhad’s navy attempted to strike the Ulganian line. The force of mostly cruisers was taking a beating, so Mustang ordered a full attack on Menhad’s line. Ulganian jets soared over the fleet, working to take out Menhad’s carriers and remaining jets. Many had been shot down, but they all out blitz-style attacks from Menhad’s forces were taking just as heavy a toll on the enemy. Submarines were breaking through underwater, striking torpedo hits on carriers and destroyers while destroyers and cruisers were knocking out F-22s. Menhad’s lines were pushing forward, but that wouldn’t last for long as long as submarine successes continued.

_____

The civilian attacks in Kakamega were taking their toll on Ulganian forces, but the fortifications around the airbase made the irregular soldiers scatter and keep clear. Even though a forward command had been established earlier at the airport, Ulganian forces were preparing to pullout and move to another city very soon. However, this would involve smashing the Menhadian front line outside of the city. A path was being cleared by Spec Ops soldiers doing house-to-house raids, paving the way for a charge of Ulganian troops. Mechanized infantry, now to the number of 2.5 million with another million on the way, as well as the full contingent of Spec Ops, and full contingent of general infantry prepared alongside one another. The breakout of Megakaka would be a make or break moment. With Menhad’s forces spread around the country the Ulganians knew they had a chance to split the line.

For now though, artillery was hitting hard but not taking hard enough. The Ulganian position was strong, and ready to move.

OOC: Okay, seriously, Kakamega? Really? Every time I type it I think of a very large toilet

The Zeelari government had pushed into service a number of Vickers VC10 jet transports to replace their aging and damaged Warwicks that had been barely standing up to the conflict. As the fighting became more intense due to the sudden surge of the Menhadian armed services, it was saw fight to evacuate the ailing Zeelari troops with these aforementioned transports. It was better to live to fight another day, and have to escape, then die fruitlessly.

Mirage aircraft, however, soon came in the wake of these transports. These aircraft bore down hard, quickly unleashing guided rockets in conjunction with the continued operations of the bombing aircraft. Though many bombers had been subsequently lost, several had come to take their place and new, brave souls were behind the controls, ready to stand before what they had ahead of them.

Within their path and wake came a second wave of transport aircraft, though not necessarily as illustrious as Zeelar's newer transports. These carried a second wave of their own; a new addition to this 'invasion within an invasion.' Charioteer tanks, the mainstay of the Zeelari ground forces, were set into position by the arriving helicopters and set on the ground....a blitzkrieg was in process.

The Zeelari and Morroconian assaults in the north were bearing fruit. This was before the Menhadians opened up the northern defenses to full throttle. Now a new menance had yet to unfold. Armed civilians...the farmers' militia. Morroconian Defense Forces were well trained and had proven before they could hold their own, but a militia was a bit new.

These weren't soldiers. They were the people you saw walking down the streets, talking. Now they were toting military firearms in defense of their country. Morroconian high command had little time to deal with this farmers' revolt. Helicopters shot overhead of the rallying militias

Return to your farms!

I repeat, return to your farms or you will be fired upon!

When the broadcast failed sway their opinions, the helicopters deployed Fentanyl units. Dispersing the sleeping agent all over the crowds. As far as the military was now concerned, all militias put under the sleeping agent would be taken prisoner and their firearms seized.

The speed of the Morroconian and Zeelari assaults was astonding. Lighting fast and convincing aerial assaults followed by artillery and armored tank charges were making more headway. But the battle for Lake Turkana was not yet over...such was the scene all over northern Menhad...

The Ulganian submarines seemed to forget about the 168 Menhadien submarines, so as the attacked the destroyers they them selves were getting torpedoed. Despite the small sucess they had, the Ulganian subs were now cut off, Menhadien subs had incircled them.

On the suface the large jet attack was met with a hail of gun fire from the point defense cannons, but still the all out attack took a toll. 2 carriers were damaged and limped back to port, along with the other damaged ships. But again another 100 F-22s joined the fight, they brought down several Ulganian sets and attack Ulganian Ships. These came from the half of the Persian fleet, who were now a only a few hundreds of miles away.

Admiral Nesbit gave the order for the fleet to form a wedge, they would break the Ulganian line or die trying

OOC: Yes Kakamega, its a small city out side of Nairobi, also I have 819 ships in this fight... Plu the Persin fleet that would make it 1228 ships

Zeelari divisions noted that the farmer's militia had continued to come. They could take them down, but they could not break their spirit. They simply kept coming, and causing Zeelari causalities.

'Crocodile' class helicopter commanders took a lesson from Morroconian tactics. They first demanded the dispersal of the civilian men-at-arms. Failing this, they utilized the non-lethal chemical agent Chlorobenzylidene (commonly called 'tear gas' or 'CS gas') spread across the 'troops' below. Soon after, the enclosed helicopter crews called in for transport crews equipped with gas masks - the militiamen would be placed as prisoners as Morroconian units had treated them.

Along with its new Vickers transports, Zeelar had rushed into service an additional 30 newly constructed 'Bear' class Tu-95 heavy bombers. These were being escorted by not only Kfir jet fighters, but also the remaining compliment of C-2 support planes. Weapons hardpoints had been precariously added to the aircraft, allowing them to be of some additional help in the bombing campaign.

This same sort of improvisation had not been going on with the ground theater however. Rather, a number of Challenger Type 1 tanks, 25 in all, had been added to the Blitz assault and were making great progress across the land in the bombing wake.

In radio transmissions, television broadcasts, leaflet drops, loudspeakers, and various other mediums Ulganian command spread the following message around African Menhad:

Dear Menhadian public,

The tactics that you have been taking to hit Ulganian, Zeelarian, and Morrocon forces are unneeded. This fight is not one that reflects you, but the actions of your government. Your decision to fight us is not only suicide on a large part, but is more accurately reflecting a microcosm of the full conflict. First, it should be known that we have not attacked you, but the government and its establishment. We do not wish to destroy your nation, nor destroy you. While at first we were taken by surprise, we have taken the position of not lethally harming militias when they attack, but to capture, bandage, and release. We have no intention in harming civilians, but will defend ourselves. We also wish for a ceasefire between soldiers and civilians, owing to the fact that we do not target you, your food supplies, water supplies, and general utilities. We have no wish to draw this fact in.

Furthermore, while we do commit house-to-house raids, it is only to secure arms held by civilians. Again, no harm it intended.

Now, there are reasons why civilians have no need to attack Ulganian soldiers, or any other soldiers. The invading forces have entered Menhad as allies of other nations that Menhad is at war with. We have no intention to destroy you as a people, but instead to honor our agreement with other nations that Menhad has waged war on. It is your government that has created this conflict, and as a people you are allowed to make a choice. Do you choose to serve a government that has brought this much war upon itself, and throw yourselves at its growing number of enemies, or do you allow for change? Extremism is never viewed positively, and can destroy families, and hamper the future of any country. Any government should be for the people, but the people shouldn’t be forced to be for the government.

Meanwhile, the navy was making progress against the shrinking Menhad navy. More and more ships were running low of ammunition and were borderline-crippled and had to limp back to Menhad’s coast. While Ulganian vessels faced losses as well, the stalemate had been met with a higher number of fresh Ulganian ships bearing down on Menhad ships. This had started to work, with more concentrated fire on cruisers and carriers, but this would soon change with the reinforcements coming from the Middle East.

Secure Transmission to Morrocon Command

In coordination efforts at sea, we request that Morrocon vessels move to cut off and engage the oncoming Menhad fleet from the Middle-East. We cannot allow the two groups to combine.

-Admiral Mustang, commander of Ulganian Indian Ocean forces

As long as the general blockade of African Menhad could be maintained and Menhad vessels didn't break through the weary, but strong Ulganian line at sea there was still hope for victory.

As Ulgania had started to use such messaging, the Zeelari bombers and artillery had a new leaflet issued in expulsion, echoing the message of the Safe Conduct passes from before.

Soldiers of Menhad

The common soldier in any war is of an equal plight. As man to man, we have no quarrel with you. We do not wish to perpetuate violence. Your nation was torn by war and chaos previously - we do not wish to continue that.

You may have been told of horrors that prisoners of war undergo. These are untrue. Zeelarian, Ulganian, and Morrocon forces have taken to utilizing non-lethal tactics against civilian militias. We have secured and released some of these forces. Surely this is a sign that we do not intend to harm you.

Therefore, any soldier who posses this pass will be treated fairly and humanely upon their surrender to Zeelarian, Ulganian, or Morrocon forces.

Likewise, Zeelar joined Ulganian forces in their broadcasts, additional leaflets, loudspeaker issue, and such.

The People of Menhad:

To send civilians into combat as you have is an unnecessary evil that simply causes the slaughter of innocent people. This is a war of governments and not men. Our forces are here to honor a contract in foreign lands; we are not here to cause undue harm to a peaceful people. Your history is drenched in blood; we beg you not to incite further violence. After the initial surprise, we caused no extra harm to militiamen who were firing on our troops.

You have every chance to alter your government. Choice peace for yourselves and those abroad.

-----------------

The Zeelaran Army operated 10 Harke class helicopters. These large machines had a giant under frame used to airlift heavy materials, and they were soon entered into the Blitz. Approximately half of the helicopters were utilized to lift SCUD-B class missles into the air, and launch them at predetermined targets. The later half then accompanied them, and placed Charioteer tanks in their wake.

HIGHLY ENCRYPTED TRANSMISSION

To: Admiral Mustang, commander of Ulganian Indian Ocean forces
From: Admiral Miroelt Ahonihonu

The West Indian Ocean Navy is racing to cut off the incoming enemy approach. I have called upon the East Indian Ocean Navy to reinforce us. They are at best three days sail behind our position.

Given the numbers, we will keep active watch on radar for the Menhadian fleet. If given the opportunity, we will engage the enemy via carrier attacks. Then we will send in the capital ships to press the enemy. Look for our coming from the northwest. Be in position in approximately 1 days time.

END OF HIGHLY ENCRYPTED TRANSMISSION

General Order #382

To: All officers in the field
From: General Ibeliacho Iormugaro, Commander-in-Chief of Morroconian Defense Forces

In compliance with current ministry policy, civilians are not to be touched. Their lands, homes, businesses are not to be abridged. All bombarding units will be required to give a customary message to all infidels of the West. Oral communications must be documented when confronted with militia or town attack, giving all non-combatants the opportunity to withdraw.

If non-combatants choose not to withdraw, then our armed forces can afford them no protection from artillery barrages. When captured, they will be treated in accordance to current Ministry policy. Until a cessation of hostilities they will be rounded up and placed in designated relocation centers until their permanent evacuation from Africa can be provided.

The entrenched Menhad army was ready, and waiting. An Ulganian charge could come any time, but no one knew if it would be in an hour, or a day, or a week. While the Farmer Militias had been effective, they were only a drop in the bucket to the amassed Ulganians. Since the propaganda war had begun a noticeable decline in civilian attacks were being committed. Also, as the Ulganian engineers had restored all utilities and had brought in aid to the city, life had more or less returned to normal there, only with a curfew. The citizens were still unhappy, and patrols were attacked on a daily basis but the fangs had been removed from the city of Megakaka.

Now, it was a waiting game. In the night, all of the Ulganian artillery units were being moved from the airport where they were exposed to other fortified and mobile areas in the city. Stealth bombers had started a cloaked campaign that night to make it look like the army was going to start its breakout from the north with artillery support as well. The forces in the north viewed this heavy bombing as a sure sign the hit would come soon, and Menhad’s field commanders were all but convinced that’s what the Ulganians were planning. As troops redeployed and tanks rolled to support the northern reaches of Menhad’s line the Ulganians began their move.

Howitzers began redirecting their fire to hit the eastern line. Tanks began to roll eastward, and 2 million mechanized infantry started a move towards the line, accompanying them while Spec Ops forces in APCs and IFCs with the support of light tanks. Missile launching vehicles opened up a clear path for these forces as the breakout began. In the dim, chill morning the sun started to highlight the area through a layer of clouds. The overcast day was exactly what the Ulganians were hoping for. The sudden advance would catch Menhad by surprise as much as the cold would dull their movements.

The initial movement went smoothly, with Menhad armored checkpoints being quickly overwhelmed but as Ulganian forces drew closer to the fortified positions the fighting became thicker. In the air planes were getting into thick dogfights trying to prevent either side from bombing and strafing runs, while helicopters came in under them bringing more troops and armor to the line. Menhad’s soldiers were professionally trained, tested, and skilled, however the Ulganian soldiers had prepared for this moment for days and vastly outnumbered Menhad’s forces in these positions, and overwhelmed the fortifications, opening the chink in Menhad’s armor that would allow Ulganian forces into the country.

While General Infantry units began mop-up operations of the eastern areas Mechanized Infantry and Spec Ops refocused their energies on the rallying Menhad soldiers in the northern line. By now, the sun had risen, and a chill drizzle was coming down. The fighting had started, and the Ulganians had come out swinging.

5 hours earlier, 3 am Ulgan Standard Time

20 members of Spec Ops most highly revered unit, Black Ops had been moving on foot all night through the streets of Megakaka, into Menhad controlled territory and split into two groups. The first would move to an outlying airfield being used for a large number of Menhad’s planes while the other would hit what Ulganian spy-satellites had concluded had to be the field-command HQ.

The first group had made it to the outside of the airfield, but knew if they tried anything a patrol would see them. They needed a diversion. Two men left to set a remote-detonated charge that would be positioned to knock out a patrol on one side of the airport. Upon their return, the group of ten moved to the other end, and waited with baited breath for a patrol to near the munition. Once it had, they hit the detonator and a fireball erupted on the other end of the airport. Dozens of soldiers rushed to positions to fight off whatever threat might be preparing to come in while the soldiers cut through hastily erected wire-fencing and rushed into the airport. Two men laid charges around two of the airstrips, while four others laid more charges on planes. The last two held back in case the worst happened and all the charges had to be blown before the team could escape. After five minutes, the shock of the fireball had worn off and the soldiers were filtering back to their posts while patrols began once more. By then, the charges were set and the team gone. Moments later the charges were going off once more, this time from inside the base. A radar tower fell, a control building partially collapsed, the fuel tanks of a dozen planes had caused further chaos as two runways had themselves been blasted.

The other group had reached the building, but after inspection had discovered that it was only a hospital.

OOC:
Total troop strength atm:

2 million general infantry (includes marine and airborne elements) (100,000 casualties)
3.5 million mechanized infantry (2x strength of general infantry) (200,000 casualties)
1 million Spec Ops (4x strength of general infantry) (50,000 casualties)

OOC: I'm pretty sure that a spy satelite would pick up your force build up in the east, but I'll let this slide.
IC:

The Ulganian bombing had drawn troops to the north, but the attack came from else where. New troops from Europe, Asia and the Middle East poured down on this new gap. Planes and artillery focused thier fire onto, to destroy the break out.

The Ulganians would not be allowed to reach the coast.

OOC: Thats 3.5 million soldiers from Europe and Asia(again at 2x strenght)
____________________________________________________________________________________

Life behind the enemy lines did return to normal, kinda.

The Menhadiens were never a people that would accept conquers, so still they fought. Some stayed back to grow food, other repair their homes. But the farmers and milita were still helping the Menhadiens fight the enemy. Whether it be behind the front line, or on it.

But the numbers were decreasing, slowly.
____________________________________________________________________________________

The Menhadien Fleet laughed at the Morroconian fleet that stood before them, 400 against 151. The battle hardend fleet that broke the Scythiran blockade, now faced a even smaller enemy.

They charged, once more they sailed into combat.

The battle-hardened but battle-weary East Indian Ocean Navy deployed yet again for combat. The carriers took protected rear positions, as the capital ships formed a series of Vs and inverted V formations across the horizon.

The West Indian Ocean Navy was in route and could deploy a rear action attack...so long as the Eastern Navy could hold for 24 hours.

The attack class submarines fired a sweep of torpedoes at their Menhadian targets, followed by a barrage of SCUD missile and cannon fire from the destroyers and battleships...the cruisers began searching and depth charging the waters for Menhadian submarines on radar.

The battle was all but lost, never over. Hold to the last...to the last of what? Last shell, last round, last full measure. The Eastern Navy knew its task was impossible, but the call to service was all the men needed. The longer the battle could be drawn out, the better...but the clock was against them, and too were the Menhadians.

OOC: Where specifically is the southern front located?

IC:

The militia attacks were constant, and even though the promise no harassment had been given the Menhadians continued on their ways of irregular fighting. Prime Minister Barack Obama was reviewing the current policy. If colonialism is to be stamped out, then an example had to be made.

It was the Ministry's plan that a last ditch effort to quell the northern militias would fail. Casualties for Morroconian Defense Forces were growing more from the constant swatting of the militias than the heads up fighting in the north. The Morroconians grew angrier by the moment as these militias seemed to grow from the canopies. The public wanted justice, cowards...something would have to be done. Prime Minister Barack Obama was waiting for an excuse...soon the militias will make it where there will be no political consequences for the execution of these freedom fighters...

Military procurement was up in Zeelar. Therefore, it was felt that a bold move could be made.

A very bold move.

Temporary airfields had been formed out of various strips of land that could have been converted to them that were captured by Zeelari troops. Zeelaris, as logic would probably suggest due to their ecological obsessions, were great with working the land on average. This had a great point to launch fighters.

These had been, of course, the older Foxbat aircraft that Zeelar still employed. Jet aircraft that the government had marked for disposal once funds allowed, however, aircraft that was still in service. It was operable, if not slightly worn.

These were launched into the fray. Supported by Mi-8, so called Hip, helicopters, these airforces were scrambled into the naval action that was continuously fighting off the coast. Long range Vickers aircraft had been placed into the play, as well, that would provide for in flight refueling operations. These aircraft were launched off the coast, immediately providing air support for the Ulganian activity.

This was not, however, to say that even all of them made it. It was a long flight, and it was not uncommon for these squadrons to meet their end after having been intercepted. However, some fighters were making it and it was hoped that they would make a difference.

OOC: I’ve been assuming Megakaka is located near Menhad’s southern border, in the middle of the country.

IC: Supreme Chancellor Roland Valentine made this statement in a press conference he himself called earlier today. He did so after a meeting with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, his cabinet, and several aids and advisors. This speech is said to be the first of several that he is making following several factors that have changed the political winds in the Middle East and Africa.

The actions of governments, as previously mentioned in this war should be kept to governments. Geopolitical conflicts, those that affect the nature of those who rule the world are to be kept from civilians, from those who are otherwise helpless, lest a country be ravaged. Now, in a time when an ally uses nuclear weapons against a foe who had the government of Ulgania create reason to attack that same foe has made us rearrange the ideology behind the war.

The conflict in Africa erupted into a conflict which has involved the lives of countless millions, whether on land, air, or the sea. Menhad’s citizens, those which the Ulganian government had no reason to attack or have an impact on had laid down their lives by the thousands in order to defend Menhad. Change must come, and it will come. Out of respect of a nation that has a sense of pride greater than that of the most ambitious rulers in Ulgania’s past, the government has reflected on its reasoning and the legitimacy for the war.

The first, being to aid those in the Serpentine Pact. The second, being to drive colonialism from Africa. Both have been shown to be an unnecessary line of thought to justify an invasion in that for one, the Qalla’i decision to use a nuclear weapon on the Menhadien navy has shown that they are fully capable of defending themselves, and are in less need of force from Africa to aid them. Ulgania is compelled to make it known to its disapproval of such actions. On the matter of colonialism, the groups of people termed the “Farmers Militia” have shown time and again that they are willing to defend their lands from aggression. As the government of Menhad is vehement in its classification of its African territory not as a colony, but as a state, as a real vestige of its homeland, and with the actions of the people in this vestige Ulgania must consider the idea that maybe, maybe Menhadien presence in Africa, while rather unorthodox compared to the standard many would like to hold nations to should be viewed in a different light, in a light that is not hostile to the future interests of Africa. This would take a level of commitment from all parties involved, including the people of Menhad, and those it is at odds with currently.

On the matter of colonialism, Ulgania feels that Menhad deserves another look, and that as a signatory of the Serpentine Pact must go against the accepted grain and cease combat operations in Menhad for reasons that are part of a bigger picture than the lexicon of a contractual obligation.

While naval operations may yet unfold in Menhad’s favor, the land war is an all-but stalemate with Menhad’s forces greatly outnumbered, and in a position of losing its foothold. What is a navy if it has nowhere to port? With these in mind, Ulgania is willing to offer a general ceasefire against Menhad under the condition that land forces currently deployed in Africa do not move to the theater of the Middle East, and do not seek general retaliation from Morrocon and Zeelar forces. The offer put forth should be seen as a chance to prevent further violence in Africa, and not to seize an opportunity to beget further violence. The aforementioned lexicon of understanding must be seen on a level that is dulled by the actions of this war.

OOC: I have quite a few house-keeping style political statements that I’m writing, so if anyone has a general response to this hold off until I get them all written and posted… I have one planned for the Serpentine Pact, and another for the Zolon conflict.
