That's... all well and good, but we're requesting investigation teams to look in on the mysterious disappearance of the joint Russian-Yshurakan science team and claims of military activity in Antarctica.

His Majesty the King of Sicily, of Sardinia, and of Sicily, will send a team of scientists to aid in the investigation. The King has become quite concerned about the Antarctican expedition and is deeply interested in solving the current mystery.

*****

Judas Camizu took of his pristine white lab coat and hung it on a rack. The clothes he wore underneath were simple blacks and browns, but surrounded as he was by the symbols of the Dominion, they seemed almost fascist in their aesthetic. The powerful pinnacle of human form strode across the room and carefully leaped through his papers, taking in information of such complexity that it would turn lesser minds to mush. He had recently examined Marissa, and the experiment was proceeding satisfactorily. She was showing promise, and once he had the chance to pursue some more... esoteric... branches of science, he would be able to take that experiment to its next stage.

On the other hand, his experiments with hybridization between humans and other species had not worked as well. He had a few promising moments, but the only results to show were horrificly deformed stillbirths and a grisly scene of human and animal body parts. Several of his aids were unwilling to return to the room. He had been disappointed to report such a failure to Gassel, but the continue biological and chemical agents production was going as planned so Gassel had been pleased. But now, as he looked through the reports, something else caught his eyes.

An expedition to Antarctica? Tantalizing disappearances? Roaring for his assistants, the Good Doctor wondered to himself why he was not already involved in this affair. He thought to himself quickly. The new twin research would divert some of his men but he still had enough to form a research team... or two.

He had his aides send word to the Yshurakian and Russian governments indicating that he was sending a team to aid in the investigation, but secretly he ordered the team to send encrypted reports back to him with the more sensitive information.

Then he gathered the rest of his men. These were the men who were not only scientists, but explorers, killers, and hunters of men. Equipping them into a paramilitary squad with the best weaponry his Dominion associates had provided, the second team was dispatched more quickly to Antarctica. With any luck they would find some things out before the official teams got there. And in case the official teams or any more sinister figures discovered them, the Invisible Men were instructed to kill on sight.

It was finally the day of the initial briefing. A number of respectable nations had responded to the call for an international investigation of the occurrences in Antarctica. Soon, Yshurak and Russia would have their answers.

Ivan Prigovosk stood at the front of the large assembly room, hands clasped behind his back. Toward his left, a number of Yshurakans were seated in chairs, awaiting for the investigators from across the world to arrive. To Ivan's right was an overhead projector connected to a computer running a PowerPoint presentation.

Within a few minutes, a group of Kiru Taoese investigators entered the room and took the seats designated for them. Ivan smiled, watching on as the rest of the foreign investigators arrived.

OOC: Yeah, so do your entrances.

OOC: Thanks

Professor Arthur Greywolf, promised to the expedition previously, walked through the doors in the assembly chamber, clutching his poncho to his body. Sighing softly, he took his seat at the table whilst admiring the work around him. Afterwards, he focused on the aforementioned presentation, remaining silent for the time being. Though he was sure that he could speak the languages of the other members, he had some fears of a language barrier.

As the teams were gathering, a team of swarthy looking Mediterreanan men walked into the room. Their uniforms bore the Roman bicephalous eagle, and they represented the Kingdoms of Sicily, Sardinia, and Africa.

Some time later, Dr Judas Camizu's personal team entered the room. They bore WMD insignia, but they were members of his private staff.

Vera Kurchatov and the rest of the Russian investigation team arrived in Yshurak on the day of the initial briefing. As the second of the two largest parties involved in the investigation, the Russians entered the room and went straight to the front of the room. They sat proudly next to their Yshurakian allies in the mission to seek out the truth about their lost parties.

For Vera it was a personal search to find her sister, Svetlana. She was Vera's older sister to whom Vera had always looked up to her entire life. She was Vera's inspiration and she would not rest until the answers she sought were found.

Taking her seat, Vera and the others wait for the briefing to beginning. She was eager to begin to journey to Antarctica.

Professor Charles Bukoszky and his assistant Leonard Sarkoszy etered in the briefing room after a conmfortable fly to Yshurak.

He recognized many peoples, some of them have worked with him in some older project, he set down and after some minuts another man entered in the briefing room.
Charles recognize him with a glance, Colonel Bela Lugosi of the Hussar guards.

The Swiss Roman Security Force would be honored if it could send three Alpine troops who also work in the Criminal Investigations Unit of the SRSF.

OOC: I know it's a bit late but I only did it because of this thread.

The GSV Determinist was the largest and most impressive sea going vessel produced by ACO Ltd. Given that Nag Ehgoeg was a landlocked country, this was not such a great feat but it was ice breaker, lab and long term winter habitat all in one for its crew – the Arctic wing of Project Trident. But while ACO made a fuss about the eco-friendliness of the vessel, it still needed supplies shipped to it by smaller vessels.

The (VFP) Resistance Is Character-Forming was one such smaller vessel. Built for military scale rapid response – in case ACO Ltd ever needed to get military aid to the Determinist urgently. Since the collapse of the WA as an effective alliance, and Archimedes’ subsequent isolation of the Mainland from Nag Ehgoeg’s extra-national ports, Nag Ehgoeg’s on-going Arctic mission had practically ground to a halt. But with Gaza now firmly an ACO asset and relations with Neo-Nag Ehgoeg at least passable, it was considered “economically viable” to bring the Resistance out of its semi-retirement to ship the Nagian exploratory team to the other end of the world to investigate the strange going’s on at the South Pole.

****

The Nagian team was – obviously – the last to arrive. Nag Ehgoeg lacked qualified explorers capable of handling themselves in this kind of situation – a land locked nation with sweeping plains and deserts – and, even utilising a Very Fast Picket, it had taken an almost unreasonable amount of time to transport the Nagians across the globe. But they where hear now.

The team consisted of five men – bearded and broad shoulders. All average height for a Nagian male – 5’9”. Their tan skin typical of the Nag Ehgoeg’s ethnic mongrelity, thick hair cropped short. The men all looked practically the same, dressed in white with (coverable) visibility stripes – their beards covering most of their faces. The men were all ex-military but Project Trident pre-dated the Dominion’s formation – their uniforms and equipment were emblazoned with the old flag of Nag Ehgoeg.

All scientists. All explorers. All military.

They where, perhaps, Nag Ehgoeg’s Indiana Jones’s to cold weather exploration – and the men would carry their cold weather Kalashnikovs as well as their investigative and explorational tools.

Ivan Prigovosk smiled softly as everyone settled into their seats. It was now time to start the full briefing.

"Welcome, and many thanks to your governments for becoming part of this investigation," he said, turning on the projector. "I am Ivan Prigovosk, and I will be leading this investigative expedition alongside Vera Kurchatov, my Russian counterpart. As you know, both Russia and Yshurak sent a joint team of scientists to study Antarctica's environment at the Vostok station. Within a week's time of being there, our station on the coast, Oasis II, lost contact with Vostok.

"Furthermore, earlier in that week, before contact was lost, the guide who remained at Vostok with the team, Harold Tarigorik, reported to Oasis II the presence of military jets in Antarctica. A team of guides and scouts were sent to the suspected coordinates, and did not report back nor return. We suspect a strong connection and foul play. Up on the projector, you can see a relative location where each site is in relation to each other."

Posted Image

Ivan continued. "Naturally our first stop will be at Oasis II where we will interview the remaining guides who drove the science team to Vostok and relayed us the information about the strange sequence of events. Next, we will travel further south to Vostok itself and survey the scene and discover what has occurred. Next we will attempt to scout the area to the west and search for the possible military presence in Antarctica. Naturally we will observe strict caution, as if entire teams are going missing, then we must recognize this martial group a clear threat to our very survival.

"Any questions?"

Professor Arthur Greywolf thought about asking his question before finally committing himself to it.

"I understand that I may have brought this up before. I may have even sounded obsessive about it - but how are we going to track them? What vehicle are we using? I would be very much against any more jet powered aircraft. Under these conditions, it begins to cause severe problems with the jet engines. I would seriously recommend using piston fired aircraft for the expedition."

Ivan chuckled softly at Arthur's concerns.

"We won't be using any sort of aircraft," he explained, finding the concept counterproductive to their mission. "To discover the military positions, we will be taking sweeps of the area while split into separate teams. We will maintain radio contact with each other to ensure each other's safety. We are not engaging any sort of threat... we're merely investigating a possible illegal military presence and will be promptly reporting back to our superiors so each of our respective nations can deal with it directly. Our only transportation will be Sno-cats.

"Now, unless there are any other questions, this mission briefing is concluded."

Ivan brought a fist to his mouth to cover a cough. "We have a number of trained combatants on the Yshurakan... and I'm pretty sure the Russian sections of this investigation team," he said in explanation. "However, as I said... we're not suppose to engage the military presence directly, only confirm its presence and report back to our superiors. I stress that this is a reconnaissance mission."

"I concur with my counterpart, Mr. Prigovosk " said Vera as she turned towards Ivan. "Though we have trained combatants who will be coming with us, they are coming because they are trained for search and rescue mission in colder environments. They will not only help to keep our teams safe but also provide invaluable help in searching for our lost teams. Should we find a military base of enemy origin we will first and foremost radio back the finding to base, so that our governments and all governments involved will know what is going on down there."

Dr. C. Atius spoke for the Nagian team for the first time, "Now that has been settled, we should we not press on? My team is fit and rested. We are eager to discover what has happened here. We have not come to sit and debate while this mystery goes unsolved. I propose we act now! Or, at the very least, plan our search and prepare to move out."

"Indeed we shall press on" Ivan Prigovosk commented with a confident smile. "This briefing is now dismissed."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following day, everyone was driven to the Venderwelle docks where the ship that would take them on the long voyage to Antarctica waited. Each investigator was loaded on board safely and expediently. The Captain wanted to set off for the long voyage by noon. After everyone was settled into their quarters, the Captain had his way and the ship sailed off into the Baltic at noon. Thus began the lengthy trip to the southernmost continent.
The voyage took close to two months, the ship taking various stops at ports along the Atlantic to refuel and resupply. It would seem occasionally an eternity on the vessel as it sailed through the waters toward its destination.
During the last week of the journey, the temperatures aboard the ship began to plummet. This was a sign that they were finally closing in on where they aimed to go. Heaters were turned up as high as they could go for comfort. Finally on the last days, the ship was pushing its path through the melting Winter pack ice. Because of the six-month long days and nights at the Earth's poles, it seemed like the dead of night when they arrived at port when it was actually five after 11:00am.
They were in Antarctica at last.
High in the sky, the aurora australis was flickering in its delightful light show, reminiscent of its northern counterpart, the aurora borealis. The investigation team was unloaded at the Antarctic port and then promptly reloaded onto a team of waiting sno-cats. The drivers took them less than a couple of miles to the Oasis II station. There, they were greeted by the rest of the guide staff.
Ivan Prigovosk was the first to step over to one of the guides, a woman, and shook her hand gingerly.
"It's great to see you again, Sam," he said in a manner clearly greeting an old friend. "I've missed you ever since you've taken this post down here."
Samantha Tizigorcski merely smiled in response. "I see you've assembled together quite a team of investigators," she said, eyeing everyone climbing from the sno-cats.
"Yes... both Yshurak and Russia's governments were pleased by the turnout," Ivan said. "I assume that we should get down to questioning, then."
Samantha nodded, and led the team of investigators into the Oasis II station. Once inside, everyone assembled in a room that was large enough to accommodate each individual. Once the team was settled, Samantha described everything that had occurred from her station's end with Ivan interjecting for clarifications.
Samantha described how her guide staff had delivered the science team to Vostok on sno-cats before returning here. It was; however, on that first day that Harold Tarigorik contacted her on the radio about sighting the military jets and gave her the estimated location of their takeoff, somewhere southwest of Vostok. She related sending the group of guides out to investigate and how they never reported back. She attempted quickly after their deadline to report back had passed to contact Harold at Vostok, but found to her alarm that no one was responding from there either.
Ivan nodded grimly at the story. It clearly implied that there was foul work somewhere out there in Antarctica's icy wilderness.
Professor Arthur Greywolf listened carefully, murmmering a bit to himself afterwards. He was lost in thought as he pondered the idea.
"My people have a story of Half-Men, Half-Otters that cause people to drown. While I am not suggesting this is the work of a supernatural by any means, there is a great deal of water everywhere - both frozen and otherwise. Therefore, it is very possible that, regardless of if this sounds as though it were out of a science fiction book, there is the possibility that we could really be up against a sort of submersible craft."
"Imagine a vessel that could actually travel below a specific portion of the the ice shelf, during the warmer months, and therefore be totally undetectable to us by normal methods."
"Wouldn't that be difficult to steer around?" someone from the Yshurakan portion of the investigation team asked. "I mean, Antarctica isn't like the Arctic, isn't it? It's mostly land, right?"
"Indeed you are right," Samantha answered before looking to Arthur. "While there is Lake Vostok which the station there is named after, it's unlikely that there's any sort of submersible craft capable of moving through solid earth and rock. I won't discount it entirely... maybe they're using unknown river ways, but it's not something to be placed on the top of the list." She shrugged.
"They do not necessarily have to move as much as they have to hide. They could be stationary in the lake, even, after hatching their scheme. They could then operate on land when the time is right for clandestine operations."
