Kiev might suffer in this war. Kiev might be bombed, might be butchered. However, the Red Army of Quaon would pay back every injury, every drop of blood, in due course. Their target was Çerdoville, the capital of this so called great bastion of democracy in Europe. If the Communists had their way, the city would be brought to its knees.

The Communist Republic in many ways acts as a modern democracy, with heavy socialist and communist elements. Nonetheless, some of these signs of a civilized nation were simply pretensions. The army acted with honor when they fought. However, that honor was marred with a lack of discipline...and without discipline, in times of war, men could forget who was at the other side of the barrel of their gun.

B-1 Lancers crossed the Baltic into Çerdoville. They began dropping their payload with little discrimination, pummeling military targets and civilian targets alike, only sparing areas that the CRQ thought the Çerdons could use in propoganda. The bombing persisted for an hour, and then the B-1 Lancers with their F-16 escorts turned around, back to Quaon. They had just sent the enemy a message: you will not escape the consequences of your attacks.

Çerdoville- a world class city. Çerdoville- the largest population center in Çerdoné, and indeed, all of Europe. Çerdoville- a city on fire.

Chaos was breaking out in the city of Çerdoville, as communist fighters and bombers soared overhead and lit the metropolis aflame. Throughout the streets, people ran away in terror. People who had been led to believe that their home city was untouchable were severely misled, as they realized now from the sting of enemy bombs.

Bridges were broken. People were killed. Factories were razed. Resources were damaged.

For all of its planning and offensives, Çerdoné had yet to develop a coercive defensive strategy. For this reason, when the Quaonian air strikes hit Çerdoville, they struck hard. The city had a military airport near it, with jets scrambled moments after the first strikes, but the combat over the skies of Çerdovilel did not erase the damage that was being done, and in fact, may have even increased it, as downed jets from both sides crashed into the streets of the city below, adding to the mayhem that occurred in effected sectors.

Çerdoville had been damaged. But rather than feeling weakened, air force leaders in Çerdoné felt emboldened. They now had a tangible foe that they could fight with overhead. They drew up plans immediately to burn Kiev to the ground, to intercept communist aircraft in the Baltic Sea, and to defend Çerdon nationals in the event that enemies broke through. Bombing raids against Kiev were increased three-fold. It was decided the communists would pay for their partial destruction of elegant Çerdoville.

The Prime Minster was evacuated to his underground bunker, along with the rest of parliament, where they would remain i session until the apparent threat of aerial attack had ended.

The people of Germany were of a hardy stock, yet even they were beginning to notice the sheer number of conflicts piling up on their Kaiser's resume. In fact, some had begun relatively disgruntled. However, this battle against Cerdone would reveal an entirely new side of the German population: anger. They were angry at the bombing of civilian targets in Lubeck and across the coast. They were angry at the hypocrisy of the so called "democratic" states of the world. But most of all, they were angry at the prospect of the first foreign foray into the German homeland since the modern state had been reestablished.

Luckily, the German government had hardly given up on the fight. Air patrols of ME-109 fighters canvased all angles of potential attack, and the armed forces reserves had been put on standby. The vast majority of the standing army was en route or established along the northern and eastern borders, meant to repulse any attacks. However, a covert operation had already begun in the region which would prove to be Germany's first armed offensive of the war: the fight for Marslava.

Official Declaration

The Swiss-Roman Republic of Porcu cannot remain neutral any longer. Porcu cannot sit idly by while her neighbor and ally are bombed into submission. As a loyal member of the Madrid Pact the Swiss-Roman Republic of Porcu has no alternative at this point than to declare war on the governments of Hispania, Quaon, the West Roman Kingdom, Germany, and Menhad.

For the future stability of Europe we had hoped that war would not have broken out; however, the circumstances have changed and while we wish to pay respect to Quaon for keeping to their word of not attacking Madrid Pact members if they did not declare war against members of the ToK. For that the people of Porcu are grateful. But now that we find ourselves on opposite sides of the battlefield I hope that the rules of a respectful and honorable war are met by both sides, for I can assure you that the Swiss-Roman Security Force shall at all costs.

Consul Richard M. Nixon

- It seems that the changes made in the armor divisions has come just in time. Our new tanks may get their first shot to prove themselves in battle. Defensively, we are close to being ready as we can. Before Nixon released the declaration of war he made sure we in the High Command were prepared, so the defense of Porcu has already been achieved to a certain extent. We've contacted you now wishing to know how best our forces can cooperate with yours.

Çerdoné hereby declares war on Menhad. The despotic three families shall rue the day they interfered with European freedom.

---------------------------------

Quote:

TO: Swiss-Roman High Command
FROM: Çerdon High Command

We thank our allies in Porcu for remaining loyal in these times of hardship and bloodletting. The enemy is relentless, and will do everything it takes to remain tyrannous- it is our duty to put an end to this at once. We must not lose sight of our ultimate objective- to defend Andorran sovereignty. To do this, however, we must take care of northern business first, and attain victory over Quaon, Germany, and Menhad as fast as possible. Once this is done, we can send aid to our allies in Austro-Bayern in the struggle against Hungary, and send forces to Iberia to restore an Andorra that will likely be occupied by then.

We have devised a plan to attain a quick victory against the northern enemies. We must both pull together our resources, and conduct bombing campaigns over the north of Germany, and Kiev. We also must strike at Copenhagen, the capital of Menhadien Denmark. The bombings must be intense and relentless- and indiscriminate. We must aim to cripple the motivation of their populaces and manufacturing capabilities of their industries.

Simultaneously, we must establish strong naval supremacy in the Baltic Sea. Bombarding important coasts is essential here- as is destroying and humiliating enemy fleets. Destroying the enemies naval capabilities will reduce the risk of an invasion of our own homelands.

Landing forces must be done afterwards. We hope to strip Quaon's western corridor from them, and make a landing in Lübeck, Germany. Afterwards, we must turn our heads quickly to Menhadien Denmark, and eliminate that pesky obstacle.

Sending aid to defend Marslava, Mircania, or Austro-Bayern would also be significantly helpful, as we are currently making huge offensives and can not spare much human resources. Any support in any of these areas would be appreciated.

Marc Popiel,
Field Marshall of the Northern Çerdon Armies

---------------------------------

The war had made an expected expansion with the entry of Menhad. The Menhadiens, it had been recognized, were often quick to declare war, and often regretted the repercussions later. It had always been that way, and the pattern would carry on no doubt this go-around. Copenhagen was added to the list of cities to be pummeled, joining Lübeck and Kiev. Relentless campaigns were instituted, and and invasion of Denmark was prepped.

Troops landing on Lübeck were greeted by a angry German populace. 500,000 men unloaded onto hostile shores, receiving looks of disgust from locals. Çerdoné's troops advanced anyways. Satellites picked up on a German force just south of Lübeck- whether that force would act and attack was up to German commanders. Either way, Çerdoné was now in possession of a continental foothold- it would soon expand to install absolute supremacy over Germany.

With the hope that Swiss-Roman aid would turn the war once more into the Madrid Pact's favors, Çerdon troops dragged on. The war had only just begun.

Official statement of president Adar

IC: "The United States of Mircania, as a member of the Madrid pact and nations allied with Cerdoné condemns this evile bombing by the forces of Quaon. Quaon has just renegaded what it said to Cerdoné, Quaon chose civilians as primary targets and deliberately killed many Cerdon civilians in Cerdoville without even considering military targets. This is not an act of war... this is an act of terrorism and should be considered as one.

However Mircania remain neutral and is still hoping for a peace treaty to be signed and will support any peace conference that will be organized even tough our military forces will remain in the state of alert."

OOC: Quaon, if you want to bomb me take into consideration I also have Patriot SAMs and flak gun batteries on the ground ready to shoot down your planes and fighter squadrons constantly patrolling my air space, thanks.

Operation Holy Shield
Western Mircanian border

While the president was speaking the army of Mircania was preparing itself for war. Mircania officially didn't want to enter war but its soldiers were training for that. On the western border troops were training at shooting and armoured and cavalry units trained to shoot at virtual targets simulated by computers. Their tecnique war very efficient becuase the sotware also calculated the amount of damaged done to the enemy tank and its type and also simulated incoming hits. But even if those drills were very realistic they weren't like real war.
Units also worked on camouflage tactics. Tanks were covered with camoufrage nets that were very useful in the vegetations. Many tanks covered with camouflage were hidden in bushes and woods close to the bunkers used by the army as a great wall to defend the country.
All of this happen in the middle of the night were recon flight were less effective and in the times Mircanians knew ToK spy satellites weren't expected to orbit over Europe and this proved that Mircanian intelligence had worked pretty well. When the tanks were hidden the engines of the tanks were switched off so that they didn't emit any infra-red heat signal that could be picked up by the enemy.

Cerdon troops were arriving right in that moment and were ammassing along the border. They weren't using the same prudent tactics of their Mircanian counterpatrs and this could spoil the "surprise".

Meanwhile Mircanian fighter were continously being scrambled and carrying out air defence and patrol missions to prevent enemy bombing missions.
F-16 Block 52+ fighters were armed with AMRAAM active-search missiles and were authorised to shot down any unknown hostile aircraft and land-air defence battalions and regiments were deployed in sensible areas and around highly populated towns ready to fire at enemy bombers.
Now Quoan didn't have any surprise effect anymore in the air.
-----------------

Theurusian enclave
1 mircanian mechanized infantry division and 1 motorized infantry division were awainting orders from the command and were getting ready for a further mass attack against the german garrison in the enclave. If Mircania declared war the German garrison would have been the first target to destroy at all costs.
For this reason there was also 1 self-propelled artillery regiment equipped with M-109A6 howitzers and MLRS vehicles and 1 tank company equipped with 12 T-90s supporting Mircanian infantry.
The soldiers were still waiting
-----------------

All of this was done in secret and military police and intelligence officers were guarding every action of the soldiers, reading every letter sent from them and controlling every computer system that could send further transmissions to the enemies.

As of now the Polish separatist Union shall remain neutral in this conflict. While ceroden is a fellow democratic state we ask for them to reexamine their foreign policies of war. It is not too late to end this, if not then all of Europe shall suffer and Ceroden and the members of the Madrid pact may be surprised that they shall have it worst of all.

Message to Cerdone:

Your act of estimating the strength of "little Belgium" will make your downfall all the more tragic.

---------------------------------------------
Message to Porcu:

A "respectful" and "honorable" war? You Swiss are truly naive indeed. By backing the aggression of the foolish Cerdonian Government, you have helped instigate a cycle of violence which will reap hundreds of thousands of lives before this year is out.

Norway
Pascoagian Territory
Covert Belgian Special Forces Camp

Within the harsh, unforgiving landscape of Pascoag's Norwegian territories, a one-eyed man clad in military uniform scowled coldly at the sight of the slowly rising Scandanavian sun to the east, taking in the sight of Northern Pascoag in with his single unscarred right eye. A powerfully built man with the scars of combat and violence clearly set into the chiseled features of his otherwise youthful face, Colonel James Callard of the 501st Special Air Commando fit the profile of a "dangerous" Belgian Special Forces Operator, having been one of the first men deployed to this covert military base following the disastrious Georgian War's end.

A battle-hardened veteran of Tbilisi, Callard had been one of the few lucky survivors of the 501st's famous stand against the Middle-Eastern forces, having taken command of the entire Airborne Division when nearly 95% of the entire officer staff had been wiped out on the struggle for "the ridge". He had personally seen the destruction of the 501st Airborne Division as a 'regular' unit in that bloody battle, and watched as the ranks of the once proud Paratrooper division were rebuilt into a special operations capable force of paracommandos.

Paracommando.

Callard winced at the term..

Noticing the need of the Belgian Armed Forces for a "special" force suited to the task of covert warfare, reconnaissance, sabotage, counter-terrorism, and hostage rescue, King Leopold Amaedo persuaded the Polemarch of Brussels (the supreme military commander) to "recycle" his favored military division into a force of highly trained operators capable of pulling off even the most outrageous of operations with relative success.. Thus, S.A.C. was born...

Gathering the finest soldiers from the Armed Protective Squadron (AEP), Belgian Land Component, and the Belgian Marines, S.A.C.'s operators endured nearly thirteen months of intense training in Norway; cross training with Russian, Quaonian, and German Special Forces during their birthing. Following the outbreak of war once again in Europe and Cerdone's refusal to release members of the Canton Rouge Royal Family, the operators of the 501st Commando were put on immediate combat alert by high ranking authorities in Belgian High Command, with plans for a rescue operation quickly being formulated by the officers of the 501st Commando for this very occasion.

Tapping the black velvet of the eyepatch he wore over his right eye socket, Colonel James Callard spat impassively onto the ground before turning his face away from the sunrise and walking back to the 1st Special Operations Forward Base, a medium sized military encampment hidden away in the mountains of Norway. Literally unknown to anyone outside the upper ranks of the Belgian military, 1st SOFB nevertheless housed a total of 2,400 operators and nearly one hundred helicopters of S.A.C.'s 1st Force Battalion, all under command of the Colonel.

Walking quickly through the makeshift minature airfield of 1st SOFB, Colonel Callard soon managed to make it to the command bunker of the base without any major trouble, walking through the heavy steel doors of the camoflagued concrete structure.

"Good day, Colonel..." greeted a Lieutenant Joseph Ingram from behind a massive chart of Northern Canton Rouge/Southern Norway, "I trust you've been briefed already of His Majesty's decision?"

"Indeed, I have..." muttered Callard, dropping himself into a nearby chair, "and I still believe it's complete suicide... Pre-dawn insertion into the middle of Cerdone-occupied territory, with less than 2,000 men? All for His Majesty's future in-laws? The wonders of a monarchy, Ingram... are many indeed..."

Lieutenant Ingram could not help but crack a smile at this dark joke as he reached for a nearby military report, knowing full well the "gung-ho" factor of "Operation Thunderbolt".

"For all their show of military strength and brute power, Colonel," quipped Ingram, passing Callard a military report stamped with the 'top secret' seal, "Cerdone has largely concentrated the bulk of its forces in overly-ambitious thrusts against our German and Quaonian allies, neglecting to adequately defend their latest territorial acquisition in the midst of their offensives.. Apparently, Rotterdam, the capital of Canton Rouge, is not their highest military priority; for the entire city is garrisoned only by several regiments of Cerdonian military police, obviously present to keep the Royal Family under house arrest..."

"A surgicial strike on Rotterdam, a distance of only eighty-nine kilometers, is thinkable, allowing us approximately one hour to extract the entire Royal Family before the damned Cerdonian Air Force comes into action... Get in, rescue the objective, and flee back into Pascoagian territory.... Simple enough, sir...."

Looking up from his casual inspection of his personal Five-Seven pistol tied to his belt, the Colonel gave Ingram an almost bored look of disinterest, replacing the weapon back into its nylon holster. Adjusting the strap of his eyepatch to a more comfortable setting, the Colonel cocked his head curiously at Ingram as to inquire on the men and material needed for this particular venture..

"The entire battalion, sir..." replied the Lieutenant, reading Callard's body language, "Along with seven V-22 Ospreys, twenty Cougers, and one Eurocopter Tiger gunship..."

"Sounds excellent... Have the men assemble tomorrow at 1300 hours...."

"Tomorrow, we show the world what happens when you cross 'Little Belgium'...."

Message to Germany:

Operations in South America have been postponed due to the crisis here on the mother continent, and as a fellow brother-in-arms, 2.6 million men of the Belgian Armed Forces (BAF) will be slated for deployment into Germany to stave off Cerdone and its power hungry cronies...

For the moment, these military units are already being airlifted into Western Germany as I send this message to you.

God Willing, We Will Prevail..

Strategos's Battle List

Official Belgian Statement:

Recognizing that its people, infrastructure, and territories are under attack by a foreign enemy, the Kingdom of Belgium officially declares war against Marslava, Porcu, Cerdone, and all those who wrongly support the illegal Cerdonian occupation of Belgian territory.

The Çerdon force tasked to defend Mircania now had a break before it; The Polish Separatist Union had risen as a neutral power (and, consequently, a buffer state), to protect the country from German aggression. As such, the force now had an opportunity to make- a direct invasion of Quaon could be staged, with Çerdoné replacing the communist dictatorship with a free, democratic state. The vision was wonderful, and only added to the vision of a perfect order that would be built following the war's end.

600,000 men began to leave Mircania, and head to Lithuania. Quaon's small coastline, it was decided, would be quickly seized, and then troops would move inland, gradually capturing and moving trough the "awkward strip" that extended from Quaon proper.

---------------------

OOC:
Alright, so just a couple notes to people (they don't need to be responded to OOC, just IC):

-Iggy, go ahead and carry on with your rescue of the Royal Family. I do not feel that me RP'ing a response to it would do anything but distract from the bigger picture and slow the plot down. So, I give you authority to RP Çerdon resistance against your special forces team, and to do as you will with that.

-Leb, I am ready to begin a battle of Lübeck the moment you are, if you'd still be willing to have that. I sent you a PM for the German theatre as I envision it going down.

-Q, same as Leb. You may respond to my invasion of Lithuania as soon as your ready.

When the Mircanian News Network told the news that Mircania and the newborn PSU just signed a treaty which included a mutual defence pact Mircanian generals diced to withdraw the army fro the border. While the active and prepared troops that patrolled the border for weeks were leaving the area a force of 50,000 national guard reserve soldiers take posts in the defence net ready to protect Mircania from any incursion through the border but that was just a formal contermeasure. With the constitution of the PSU in the former "no one's territory" between Germany and Mircania and after the alliance pact between the PSU and Mircania, the cuntry was finally protected by any ground invasion.

But the job wasn't finished yet. The whole contingent of active soldiers was transferred to the coastline ready to be loaded on cargo and amphibious ships. There wasn't any formal declaration of war, yet, but Mircania was already preparing itself.
The high joint command had some many soldiers to load that amphibious and corgo ships weren't enough. The government also had to use civilian cargos and even dozens of ferries usually used to link Mircania with the other countries of the Baltic sea.
The first men to be loaded were the soldiers of the 1st defensive task force of 30,000 men headed to the enclave. Their task was to reinforce micranian units in the enclave. In the mean time the other units had to wait in the harbours until the declaration of war

Outside the port city of Klaipeda, the small and feeble Quaonion navy admirably but fruitlessly attempted to block the entrance of the invaders from Çerdoné. The Quaonions were simply outclassed; the Çerdons had a bigger and more advanced navy than the communists, and nothing would change the fact. What survived of the Red Navy made a desperate escape, attempting to reach allied ports in Menhad or Germany.

The invaders began landing their men on the shores of Quaon. The Red Army had set up artillery and had air and tank support. However, they again were simply outmatched. There were 200,000 men at the shore. They were to hold against 600,000 men who were better trained than they.

Shells began dropping upon the head of the Çerdons, bombs began tearing at their landing craft, bullets began raining upon them. Nonetheless, they moved forward, finding cover, pushing forward against their entrenched foe. "Liberté!" they cried, thinking themselves heroes freeing the Quaonion people from their communist oppressors.

The Çerdon flair not withstanding, the Red Army held its position, still shooting at the enemy, still desperately holding the line against the capitalists. For all the communist valor, for all their determination, for all their love for the motherland, they knew that defeat was coming, and come it did.

"CHARGE!" cried the enemy. As one they began rushing the Quaonion lines. Machine gun fire dropped a few men here and there, but the end was inevitable. Soon enough, the Çerdons were upon the communists. The proceeding battle did not last long, but was incredibly bloody, with men being torn to pieces left and right. At last, the Quaonions were forced to retreat. The Çerdons had just cut off Quaonion sea access.

The PSU once again pleads the government Cerdone to end these senseless killings. There are truly more peaceful ways to attempt to convert nations to more democratic forms of Government and if the people of these nations wish to be ruled in the manner that they are then it is their god-given right to do so. In spite of recent events it is seeming to become more and more as if Cerdone is the more aggressive and oppressive regime going on a racial genocide.

Complete and utter success. That was all that could be said of the Çerdon successes in Quaonian Lithuania. Within hours of beginning their assault, the superior training and numbers of the Çerdon army crashed down upon the communists, and eventually, democracy won out. It was moments like this one that had led Çerdons to believe that the war was already won- and with successes landing on German shores, and bombing the major cities of all enemies to bits, it seemed justified that the north would be wrapped up within 6 months or so, giving Hispania and the Iberian axis something to be worked up about.

Çerdoné must have, to much of the enemy forces, looked unstoppable. Much like Napoleon Bonaparte and Revolutionary France, the country was full of vigor and enthusiasm. It managed the most powerful single military in all of Europe, and had a population and resources that classified it as a world class power. With the country's war effort starting to grow with the bombings of Çerdoville, those resources were only put to use more- a vast influx of volunteers began to sign up, and a program of massed inscription was adopted.

Çerdoné was on a roll. No country, or coalition of countries, would ever be able to hope to stop it. The survivors of the original 200,000-strong Quaonian force who were forced to surrender were taken prisoner. A small amount of military police were left to oversee the reformation of the conquered area. A majority of the force, however, carried on eastward, down the western corridor of Quaon, determined to take as much ground as possible.

------------------------

Çerdoné had one objective in mind for its soon-to-be-victory: To tilt the overall balance of European states to be more even, with democracies and monarchies finding themselves more balanced. Which is why it was no surprise that on May 8, 2008, Çerdoné proclaimed the liberation of Lithuania complete, and declared the Lithuanian Republic to be a sovereign entity.

Vilnius was now seat to a Çerdon puppet government, that was put hastily into place by elections administered by the military. The elections did not have a high turn out. Few Lithuanians voted in the elections. Few believed that the new fledgling nation would be in existence for long, as they believed that the next step was direct Çerdon annexation.

Indrek Haav, a Çerdon-backed democratic radical, was elected the president of the new country. Mot surprisingly, he ratified the Madrid Pact into his nation just three hours later.

----------------------

OOC: This is just a complication. Its not meant to be anything permanent. The war effort will not be affected by this founding.

We are not the aggressors in this war. Germany declared war upon us, not the other way around. Need I remind you, Quaon declared war on us without direct provocation. Menhad, a nation known for its warmongering, chased itself into the conflict, and was not pulled in by our own doings. Belgium has claimed sovereignty over a nation already in Union with Çerdoné- this war is not by our own hand, but by the hands of the Treaty of Konigsburg.

We do not know what genocide is being spoken of. We have yet to initiate any killing on racial grounds, and this accusation is absurd. None of our own civilians or the civilians of occupied territories are being persecuted because of ethnic background. Our bombing campaigns aim to limit casualties of civilians, but our prime military objective must be to secure the safety of our own people, and thus, limit the war-making capacity of those who wish to do our people harm.

OOC: Genocide? Really now?

We understand the position you are in but Democracy is not a type of Government you can force upon people. If the people of Europe urn for Democracy then they would take the necessary actions to gain their freedom. You must also take into account the turmoil this may cause after the war. These lands have been ruled by monarchs and Emperors for many years, such a fast change would truly cause a prolonged unrest. You Racially profile the governments of these nations and condemn their ways of living. You make war in the name of Liberty? Truly my friend if your taste of Liberty is as the same as mine then this is no form of Government that I shall live with!

Truly, the Poles have no idea what is going on, as usual. How could we racially profile who declares war against us? The notion is absurd, and the accusation is entirely uneducated. A nation such as your own, that is new to international relations, should back off, lest it suffer consequences.

We are not forcing democracy on the peoples of Europe. We are simply freeing those who are to fearful of their own authoritarian governments, who are fearful for the fates of themselves and their families should they go to make a stand. We will debate this issue no further.

Do not Chastise us you could have followed a more peacful path to Restoring Canton Stability other than provolking the small contigent of European nations that opposed you into a fight. We think no higher of you than we do of our European brothers. PSU most likely does belong in the Madrid pact and,god willing, will most likely join when the time seems right. You may have your wars of what you call "Liberty" but in the meen time our stance on the war shall stay the same. This issue is at its close.

The Cerdone air force, once the nation's military jewel, was growing more ragged by the day. Between the legendary Menhadien fighters, the fierce Quaonian bombing raids, and the swarms of German ME-109's, the already spread-thin defenders were simply unable to mount an effective resistance against the stealthy new Syndicat planes. Airman Erik VanHoosen and his two wingmates had already slipped past the heaviest belt of patrols in the night, and now split their formation to strike their assigned targets. Each aircraft carried a pair of "Hunter" guided missiles in addition to the standard air-to-air armament, and they worked with brutal efficiency.

"Raptor one, hunters away."
"Raptor two, hunters away."
"Raptor three, hunters away."
"Copy that, Raptor wing. You are six for six, come on home."

Cerdone would awake to find six of its major military complexes, fuel dumps, and arms factories reduced to rubble.

The shores of Lubeck were studded with what appeared to be rocks, lined in haphazard rows up and down the beaches. However, upon closer inspection one would find that the lines were anything but haphazard, and the objects surely were not rocks. Germany had invested money in the building of a sea wall years ago, meant to repel invasions such as the one they now faced. However, peace and a tight budget had caused a scale back in funding which occured on an annual basis, forcing the wall to survive on a progressively smaller maintenance tab, rather then a larger one.

What more, the higher ups in the German command were insisting that the entire eastern and northern borders be secured, meaning that Lubeck was left with a perilously low amount of troops. Now a new day was dawning, and the beach was defended by a local militia group fattened by panicked conscripts.

The day dawned with a red sun, certainly an omen. As it rose, the soldiers found their gaze off to the east to be obstructed by sunlight, but no matter. A phone rang in the field headquarters, a hastily assembled shack atop a boardwalk. The overweight Private, given control of the conscripts despite never serving his nation abroad, sauntered over to it.

"Yes, what is it?"

"This is Dispatch. Intel says the satellites caught a glimpse of something, something big, before rounding the Earth. Is there any cause for alarm?"

The Private smiled, happy to perform his duty.

"Everything's clear on my-"

The whistle of an incoming shell was the last thing the operator heard.

____________________________________________________________

In a word, chaos. The Cerdon marines had been close enough to flick the conscripts in the nose, but the men of various trades were above all not soldiers. Of course, the Germans would not give easily. This was their homeland, and as all races of men are capable and willing to do, they would kick the war effort into a gear previously unknown, save to the few elderly folk who had witnessed the final days of the 2nd World War. reserve infantry had quickly been called to the front, and German Stukas swarmed the beaches, battling both aircraft and flak while raking the beaches with their deadly payload. Cerdonian losses were heavy, but when the day was done, a beachhead had been established. The enemy had arrived.

"We are suspicious of the Polish Separatists Union's motives, however, we will gladly accept the offer of military access that has been given to us."

-----------------------------

Upon the Polish grant for Çerdon military access, troops were instantly ferried in and concentrated on the German border. Now, Çerdoné had yet another staging ground to launch its attacks from. The situation for the defense of Germany looked worse from the moment that Poland was founded- now, these grim predictions were realized.

----------------------------

Lübeck- a beautiful city of Germany. Renowned for its greatness around Europe, the city had now been stricken hard by the tides of war. Çerdon troops had landed, and now were amassing to great numbers. Before a week was over, half a million Çerdons had established themselves, and had built up a good presence in the northern part of the city.

The people of occupied areas of Lübeck were suspicious of Çerdon soldiers, and were, indeed, resentful of the invading army. Adding to their resentment, Çerdon soldiers insisted on using the resources of captured areas to reduce the strain place on the homeland economy- food was extracted from town shops, as were toiletries and other commodities.

Despite the successful landing of Çerdon troops in the area, bombing campaigns continued on as usual. The city was being forced into submission by the Grand Çerdon Army, and the result began to show. As Çerdon soldiers advanced through the streets, they got to witness first hand the effects of the bombings that had been downplayed by the German government- it looked like the site of a year-long battle.

Çerdoné's great advance would not be halted by the enemy. As German troops arrived to put up a resistance against the occupiers, Çerdoné's army continued on in a fury, destroying all who stood before them.

Emergency Powers Declared

Posted Image

The Parliament of the Communist Republic has this morning voted for the Emergency War Powers Act, which would suspend the constitution and invest certain extraordinary powers in Comrade President Luka Falan. This bill, passed unanimously in the Revolutionary Council and 691-59 in the Senate, declares martial law, suspends the right of habeas corpus, allows the institution of the draft, and suspends the voting rights of six Confederation Movement Senators suspected of consorting with Indrek Haav's "Lithuanian Republic".

Hundreds of thousands of soldiers have been moving against the Çerdon invaders. While we are unable to provide details as to their positions, Comrade President Luka Falan, as well as Comrade Prime Minister Marco Casmiro, will be personally leading some of the armies, alongside their generals.

The entirety of the government of the illegal "Lithuanian Republic" has been declared traitors, and will be summarily executed if captured. The Quaonion people are encouraged to (cont'd on A9)
