OOC: build up is here, just posting this in the international community to let the international community react ala Tiananmen Square Frank Balmer linked up with the rest of his armoured platoon and advanced towards the center of the city. The resistance in the city was crumbling, but pockets of stubborn rebels were still holding out. But that wasn't Franks problem, he was ordered to take the city center, which was currently holding half the city's population in protesters and refugees seeking safe haven from the ever advancing Van Demanian army. As frank approached the center, hundreds of thousands of protesters and rebels filled his field of vision. His treads crushing rubble and wasted human lives, he advanced towards his objective. He barked some commands to his armoured and infantry comrades. "2nd division, lap around and take the rear of the center, give me the all clear to advance once your in position." "Roger that commander" came the responses, as tanks and trucks full of infantry followed his command and broke the spearhead formation. Frank tried to focus on the sound of his tank engine and slowly advancing treads to drown out the cries and angry shouts of protesters and refugees all around him. Then came the call from his troops, they were in position to mount the final strike of this long and costly operation, and soon the final objective wiping out all southern resistance will be completed. With the infantry to franks north and armoured columns advancing to the left and right, the center was completely surrounded, and completely under the thumb of the army. Frank gave the command, "advance slowly to the center of the square troops, arrest or detain with force any resistance." "Sir yes sir." came the eternal response. They slowly moved in, treads squelching broken homes and people underfoot. Then a sudden explosion and panic as a fiery sphere enveloped the tank to Franks immediate left. "They've got weapons! Open fire!" it was an electrical fault that made the tank explode, but that will never be remembered, as all the people that were there that day will remember is the massacre that then followed. Tens of thousands of peopled, shelled, shot, driven over, all in the name of progress. Except one was not detained or shot, one had the luxury of a video camera, and after hiding amongst the corpses for several hours, and waiting for the troops to leave, he immediately sent the footage to the International Asian News Network, where it received huge coverage. "And this just in from our Van Demanian corespondent, the army which has been operating in the south under the apparent guise of "quarantine operations", is now being accused of mass murder on an unbelievable scale. Earlier this week we received reports of troops advancing towards the southern capital of "New Van Demans City", but now satellite images of the city show as deserted, destroyed, and completely devoid of human life. This would not automatically be blamed on the Van Demanian Army, but we've also received this startling footage, now, viewer discretion is advised with this piece of footage as it shows gratuitous violence. *Screen fades to black as the sound of gunfire and shells fills the air, suddenly an image appears* "Oh god their shooting the crowd!" and thats exactly what they were doing, slowly advancing into the meat grinder of a situation, as slowly the army tightened the noose further and further, killing thousands each and every inch they advanced. The screen showed every letting of blood, every head shot, every canister of teargas fired into the crowd, every anguished scream and cry of pain. The screen fades to black once more. The anchor woman appears again. "Now when we released similar footage last time, the Van Demanian government and government run news released statements supposedly proving our claims were false. But with this new footage as irrefutable evidence of their genocide of their southern population, hopefully this time the international community can do more to condemn these acts. More news as it comes in, this is ANN." |

Official Swiss Press Statement Swiss Nag Ehgoeg condemns genocide in the strongest ways. We are shocked and appalled that Van Demans Land could be carrying out such barbaric acts. We beg that the Asian community act unilaterally to discover whether these accusations made by the Asian News Network are substantiated and to take appropriate action immediately. Swiss Nag Ehgoeg offers political asylum to all groups facing genocide within their own boarders. But it would be inappropriate for our small European state to interfere directly with the affairs of Asia. |

Çerdoné has no choice but to place sanctions on Van Demans Land, and withdraw all aid currently given to President Barca. We can not be urged to get directly involved in the protection of southerners due to current European wars, but refugees shall be accepted into the nation as fast as they can make it here. |

Van Demans Land officially denounces all attempts by the foreign controlled media to subvert the reputation and control of Van Demans Land over its own people. Van Demans Land is a kind and caring nation, which is why these accusations are so laughable. Further more, any sanctions founded on these rumors and hearsay will be met with the strictest of embargoes and counter sanctions. Van Demans Land hopes that the truly valiant nations will see through these lies spread by the mass media, and wishes to strengthen its bonds with nations with enough common sense and intelligence to see through this shallow attempt of national character assassination. |
