I can't contain myself, are there any other fans amongst us? T-minus 6 hours until its release, and I'm dying. It sounds amazing. Amazing. Russian immigrant, New York City, and 18 radio stations. No planes, but what the hell I'll be too busy tearing up the town. My god, this changes everything.

lmao I was wondering if this would come up. Got my copy reserved but am not crazy enough to stay up til midnight to go get it. I'll get it tomorrow instead, although I won't play it as much as I like since I've got a final to study for to take on Wednesday, nevertheless if I'm absent for a few days it will be because I'll be playing GTA 4 none stop. I could have it licked before the weekend if I get to play uninterrupted  Sadly the likelihood of that around my house is slim.

I hear you, I have some SATs this weekend and AP exams next week, but I've made the executive decision to sacrifice portions of my education and future for the good, or rather bad, of Liberty City.

I hear that, yeah I think I'm going to split by day tomorrow, use the morning to study and the afternoon to enact utter chaos in liberty city. Do you get game informer the magazine, I got a free 12 issues somehow i forget now, but they've had a lot on GTA4 and I've seen nothing I don't like

I don't get the magazine, but whenever I see a game magazine with a GTA feature I snap it up. And I peruse the rockstar website often. This game sounds like a life-changing, or at least life-delaying, experience.

Well for earlier articles (back when it was suppose to come out before Christmas) they said that you'd actually have to hotwire the cars you attempted to steal, if that's any indication to the amount of realism that is in the game. They never followed up on those intial reports that I can remember so I'm assuming they stayed on that course. I do know they've add several new levels to the machinics of evading police capture that I'm looking forward to. Of course I think the most impressive will simply be th environment itself.

Oh and what are you getting it on PS2 or X-box360 ?

I actually hadn't paid much attention to this. I've been focusing more on my PC gaming lately. My FPS 'skillz' have gotten a bit rusty, and theres fresh n00bs out there who need a solid whipping.

Well I'm getting it on XBox 360. I've played all the past ones on PS2, so I think the console switch will make the graphics change even more stunning, although it sounds like with a different physics system it will be completely different anyway.

I've heard that hotwiring thing too, as well as a couple of other tidbits. Now you can steal the radios out of cars parked on the streets for cash, and can actually get in a taxi and pay the guy $20 to take you anywhere in the city. Furthermore, you can make calls with your cell phone and go out drinking, dart playing, or bowling with people you meet throughout the game, depending on your progression with them and the relationships you build.

Also, as far as cops are concerned the system has been revamped a la Driver (that's a far reaching Playstation 1 reference, if anyone ever played that game it was the forerunner of GTA) where an alerted cop has a circle of awareness, and you can either hide or get out of the circle to avoid arrest.

Furthermore, when you steal cop cars you can listen as they report your last known position and other crimes in the city (which are occuring in real time), or listen to the radio while the radio host of the station talks about the car explosion you just caused.

Those are the things I've read, and thus reasons why I'm completely psyched ^_^ .

Well I've got the game, and it's everything I hoped for and more. The first time I crashed into an oncoming car, the force of it caused my character to fly through the windshield, sprawled on the ground with an awkward leg and blood spatter. The first time I carjacked someone, the guy tried to get the door back open, but when I sped away to lose him, his hand got stuck in the door and he was dragged along screaming and skidding until I shaved him off onto the side of a garbage truck coming the other way.

I'll be less frequent around here for a while.

How much does it cost? $60 + taxes?

I consider buying it on Xbox 360, but I may wait a little so I can get a better deal on Ebay.

Basically a 10/10 by all reviews. Lowest I saw was 9.5/10, which is like two game raters out of like twenty.

Eh.

I loved GTA. Pulled more than one all-nighter playing that great series.

Then GTA3 came out... and sucked.
Vice City... sucked a little less.
San An... sucked a whole lot more.

Now 4 looks... well... it looks good. But I haven't liked any of the other 3D games... and they're all so "same-y". While it looks better, I'm just not convinced it's different enough not to be a let down - and I'm not paying £40 for basically an expansion pack.

I have seen the game...and it is good. :P
It is a little ruff running away from the police on foot. And once you get enough cash to cruise in taxis all over the place, you loose the will to steal and drive beautiful cars (the banshee is gorgouse). Also, tune into the television to catc han episode of Republican Space Rangers. :P

grr...

Just got the game, controls are frustrating me....

Oh well, one question (a stupid one...) How the hell do you save the game? Is it possible, or do you just have to do the autosave, that doesn't really make sense though...

I do believe I'm one mission away from completing the game, thought (hoped) it would last longer than this. That said the mission is pissing me the hell off

As to your question flumes, go to your safe house and let Niko sleep in the bed, that will open up the slave menu but it will also advance the game six hours.

Correction, the mission I was turned out to be the last mission. The game is done for me, now time to play around a create as much mahem as possible. Anyone else finished the game yet? I'd be interested to here to decision you made throughout the game and share mine, see if we chose differently and see what the differences between the decisions were.

One of the many fun things about GTA IV is that many characters speak Russian at various parts, and I sometimes understand what they are saying.

This, is in fact, very sweet.

I feel I must spread the joy of the theme song, as some of you may not have had the chance to hear it.

Yeah, exactly! In my view, one of the best if not THE best game on Play Station!

I'm really looking forward to playing with GTA 4 but I gotta get the PS3 before! Hopefully I'll get it for my birthday in july.

Get it on the 360, that way you can ignore the six-axis controls which are no improvement, and would be able to get the extra missions from xbox live. Plus, if the ads are to be believed a 360 is only 150 euros, and well its not like you could avoid the GTA ads in Paris for a while there. (Please note I left Paris so I am not sure if they are still everywhere)

Well, I have some small complaints... The controls are annoying so far... The small map in the corner is hard to navigate on, idk why, the streets seem far apart on the map and then they are really 5 yards apart. Hard to check it and drive accurately....
Then again, I still have had a blast playing it so far! I'm hoping the gameplay options expand from what I have so far though...

edit: when I finish i will talk about the outcome and how i played it... basically i am going balls to the walls, ba, take nothing from no one, but at the same time remaining loyal and keeping promises...
