Diplomacy.

Many considered it a hollow word. Nag Ehgoeg considered it a hollow word. But things had not always been so. There had been a time in the Middle East, a golden age, when diplomacy was an equal partner to constant war. Few nations remembered that time – a time when the economy of Kiensland was unquestioned, the religious authority of the Pope (declaring him the Pope of Genesis was unnecessary) was taken as a given, when the world feared the armies of Paradise above all others.

A time when Nag Ehgoeg was a safe haven for all political negotiation. A time when Nag Ehgoeg had no enemies.

All of the few nations who still remembered that Golden Age – that time of strife and constant war – had fallen from their pedestals. Changed and diminished. New powers had risen. Old allies (and enemies) crumbled to dust and lost to the sands of time. The world was different – bigger – and times had changed.

Destruction and money – the only motivators of “diplomacy” now.

Nag Ehgoeg had adapted. It had thrived: embracing new ways, relying on it’s own military might rather than peace agreements.

But, the world was still changing. And diplomacy could ease the pain of this transformation – even if it was motivated only by fear and greed. The greet diplomatic halls of Syntha Prime would be used again.

To: All nations enjoying good relations with Nag Ehgoeg
BCC: Nations and major corporations enjoying good relations with ACO Ltd
From: Government of Nag Ehgoeg
Topic: Invitation to the Syntha Prime World Trading Conference

Honoured World Power,

You are invited to send a delegate (or delegation) to Syntha Prime on 363008M3 ((OOC: Whenever, nowish, RV or post your arrival)) to attend the first Syntha Prime World Trading Conference.

The aim of the Conference is for nations to renew their trade agreements with Nag Ehgoeg. Though we would also like to introduce our economic allies to each other in the hopes that we (our nations, civilians and militaries) may all benefit from increased trade.

Attendance is by no means mandatory: standing trade agreements made with Nag Ehgoeg will be maintained if you choose not to send a delegation. But we believe that you have much to gain from being represented.

You may or may not be aware of a new oil power emerging in the Middle East. While they are a small nation (certainly unable to match the oil production of the major powers) Nag Ehgoeg believes they have much to offer the world stage. Unfortunately the nation, Al Qalaa, suffers from political uncertainty caused by their geographic location, which has regrettably stunted their political growth. It is the firm hope of Nag Ehgoeg that Our Honourable Allies (Middle Eastern powers especially) will embrace their new brother at this Conference.

While the security of your delegates is assured and guaranteed by Nag Ehgoeg, we recognise that some of our trading partners have radically different politics. We do not expect all of our Honoured Guests to become allies and partners – some of you are enemies and will no doubt remain that way. But Nag Ehgoeg firmly believes that all our trading partners have something to gain from attendance.

We look forward to continuing prosperity,

Offices of the Regent,
Nag Ehgoeg

****

OOC: Invitations will be sent by PM to all nations I think have trading relations with Nag Ehgoeg. These are just a reminder more than anything else, if you don’t get a PM but have a trade or diplomatic agreement, feel free to show up – the more the merrier. Off the top of my head invites will be sent to: oZ Corp (still gotta buy that damned port), North Georgia (we’re supposed to be helping rebuild), all Order and Dominion states (and prospective Dominion states), the Ottomans, Al Qalaa and CE. But I’ll have to trawl the boards to see who else I’ve set up diplomatic relations and trade agreements with.

Because the invites aren’t secure, anyone wishing to know about the conference, knows about it. You’re welcome to ask to come (and we’ll let you come). Anyone wanting a spy at the conference… PM me. I don’t imagine anything that interesting will come up though.

This is set immediately pre-Dominion going public. Be interesting to see if states continue their trade agreements. Nag Ehgoeg will be honouring them.

The delegation from Al Qalaa arrived first, led by Ambassador Ali ibn Shahrazad. As they reached the conference, Shahrazad greeted the Nag Ehgoeg officials warmly, thanking them repeatedly for the chance to open his country politically.

The Assassin delegate, a Captain of the Astartes, arrived. His Emperor had deemed this a worthy cause and was curious, and so the poor Captain had to attend. "I hate these functions..." he muttered. "Nothing but silly civilians and arguements..."

OOC: We'll you know you could always update this so as to keep up with it all, since it's there to use anyhow :P

IC:

The board had seen this coming, not on the international scale as it currently was, but they knew sooner or later Nag Ehgoeg would come calling. oZ had gone through some serious renovations in the past few years, becoming oZ Corp. Investments, and now was the time to cut the final cord to its past and look forward to the future. After a brief and private meeting of the board a small delegation of the company was assembled. Together with other leading companies Russia, they attend this conference in hopes of broadening their influence and consumer base.

Public Announcement

After several hours of negotiations, a commerce delegation representing over ten of the wealthiest business in the Russian Empire, including oZ Corp. Investments, has assembled and shall arrive in time for the conference. As a diclamer we wish to express that this delegation does not represent any facet of the Russian government whether it be the Yusupov or Romanoc regimes.
_____________________________________________

Minister Lado Chavchavadze of the Ministry of Commerce/Labor for the fledging principality of Kartli shall attend this conference to strength ties with the Nagian economic community and the Nagain government that showed the people of Kartli such respect and aid in our time of constructing a new state out of the embattled Northern region of former Georgia.

-Prince Demetre Bagrationi III
_____________________________________________

As a show of good will across the world, the Eastern Empire has decided to send a delegation to the trade conference, opening up its vast and wealthy industry of the east to nations across the world. Second Minister Shin Hae-seong of the Commerce and labor Ministry has been sent to represent the Eastern Empire and it's interests.

-Public announcement from the Eastern Empire

_____________________________________________

The Holy Catholic Commonwealth of Neo-Macedonia, in acknowledgment of Nag Ehgoeg's respect to the Pope and the holy faith, we humbly request to sent a delegate, Commonwealth Commerce Minister Walter Mabuza, to the trade conference in the hopes of establishing strong trades with good, catholic nations that may attend, notably Nag Ehgoeg themselves.

-Commonwealth State Minister Emmanuel Bengu
____________________________________________

In hopes to establishing better trade abroad, the Unites Confederate States of the Seceded South would like to send Secretary of State Jim Bragg to discuss the possibility of trade with other nations in attendance.

-President Nathaniel Morton

OOC2: ok I think that's everyone lol The South wants to come because Nag is one of the world's oldest democracies (or was...), the Commonwealth wants to come because well with so many other Genesian nation's dead, it needs to strength ties with as many that are left as possible. Others are coming because of already having some sort of trade agreement and/or good relations with the Nagians.

Elder Chester Prowajkiwitz from the Amish Children arrived by buggy at the hall in Syntha Prime. He was uninvited and unaccompanied, but he realized to secure the saftey and well-being of his people after the disasterous sorte into Georgia his attendence would be necessary. Besides, the country in now mining coal and iron, and could use trading partners.

A man with a wooden leg arrived in Syntha Prime, but no one paid him notice. The great city was an international metropolitan place, and one lone stranger could easily go unnoticed. No one would ever suspect he was an agent of the priate King, Robert Fullarton, there to gather as much info as he could, particularly about new shipping lanes that might open up.

The building used to facilitate the first World Trading Conference had deep historical significance. It had been built over the site of the first meeting (within Nag Ehgoeg) of the feuding great powers of old – Patrua and Paradise. Outside the building, black armoured Nagian Special Forces were a visible presence, anti-air emplacements and even an infantry fighting vehicle guarded the building from gross attack. Within the building, it was a different story. The protection of the delegates was entrusted to the Police Force: armed only with non-lethal weapons, the police were warm and friendly, courteously chauffeuring and socialising with the delegates.

As the guests arrived, several were taken aside by Nagian attendants and given VIP security badges. Ali ibn Shahrazad of Al Qalaa, Walter Mabuza of Neo-Macedonia, Scythirius’s Lord Vizx Hikaal, Antonio Christofo of Catholic Europe and Goreprime’s lead delegate were all honoured with the badges, though they themselves were left unsure as to what significance being marked as a VIP would have. Certainly, each delegate could see why they might be flagged as a VIP (though whether they naturally assumed it would happen or found it a pleasant surprise varied between them) but there was no real common ground between the states.

The main negotiation would take place in the Great Hall, seated around a large table but side rooms, presentation theatres and even a boxing ring (rather than resort to a war that would cost millions of lives, in times long since past Nag Ehgoeg stood for settling violent disputes between nations with fifteen rounds of bare-knuckle boxing between the nation’s leaders) were available to the delegates for their use. A bar charging modest prices provided refreshment and mood enhancing stimulants for the delegates, restrooms, napping rooms (which hopefully would not be needed) and two chapels (one catholic, one multi-faith) were all available for the delegate’s convenience.

After all the parties were seated (and seated next to a nation that did not cause them outrageous moral offence), the Nagian delegation arrived.

Lyia Malfisto, Nag Ehgoeg’s Minister of Finance headed up the Nagian delegation. Stunningly attractive, the thirty-year-old widow was no stranger to power or money. Entering the room to her right was a stark contrast, Nag Ehgoeg’s richest man: Daedalus Malfisto Emmanulas. While Lyia was a public figure, Daedalus was a recluse; Lyia a government official, Daedalus the representative of ACO Ltd; Lyia lithe and attractive, Daedalus a huge rounded mass of flesh.

The pair walked in step to the negotiation table. Daedalus dropped his bulky frame into a chair (which gave an all mighty creak) as Lyia gave the opening speech that began the conference.

“Greetings one and all, and welcome to the Syntha Prime World Trading Conference.

“We are all here because we have something to offer, and something to gain. Governments come and go. Democratic officials are voted in and are voted out. Kings are crowned and Kings die. Governments change or are overthrown. But people live on. Whether they are capitalists looking to make money, or communists trading for the betterment of the populous, the people live on. And the people have desires and needs.

“You are here because of ideologies. Because you see something of yourself in Nag Ehgoeg. You believe it is ‘safe’ or ‘just and good’ to trade with us. But why must it be so? Look around this room and each of you will see a party who has nothing in common with you. But if they have something you want, and you have something they want, then why shouldn’t you put aside your differences for mutual benefit?

“Those who wish to, may take turns in presenting what it is they have to offer and what it is they desire in return. Should any party offer something that you desire, make a note of it and after the presentations simply approach that party and offer terms of trade.

“We ask that all presentations are kept short and to the point. Furthermore, we ask that all the esteemed delegates here consider trade with Al Qalaa. This fledgling oil state has much to offer the world.

“Now, let us begin:

“Nag Ehgoeg has a vast surplus of: food and agricultural products; information technology solutions and high-tech goods; natural gas; fissile material and nuclear power solutions; and pharmaceutical products. We are also looking to trade raw materials – such as metals, textiles and oil – in exchanged for finished goods – such as automobiles and military hardware. We are primarily concerned with the acquisition of oil and precious metals: but if any party can offer goods or services at competitive rates we would consider purchasing them. Additionally, we wish to negotiate the full purchase of the Gaza Port owned by oZ Corp and we would be interested in building similar ports in other states interested in enriching their trade by sea.”

And with that, Lyia sat, offering the floor to the next party.

The next to take the floor was Ali ibn Shahrazad of Al Qalaa. He was brother of the Emir, and had negotiated the treaty with Russia, being trapped in Moscow during the coup.
"Dear friends, thanks to all of you for coming to this meeting, with special thanks to Nag Ehgoeg for hosting. I represent the Emirate of Al Qalaa. You may know that we are a small nation, but are rapidly developing our economy."

"The oil fields of Kuwait are legendary, and Al Qalaa Petrocorp offers crude for prices significantly lower than OPMEC. Factories are springing up faster and faster, making everything from Russian cars, to the parts for your nation's war machines, to our vast shipyards. Qalaa'i ships carry freight and oil all across the Gulf, and beyond. We are also home to the Yasaman corporation, a growing private security company."

"However, our territory has almost no arable land, and Kuwait has yet to develop the kind of infrastructure necessary for a high tech economy. These are our two largest imports. At the moment, we are forced to pay exorbitant prices for grain from Basra province on our northern border."

"The Emir has also given me the privilege of using this forum to announce a grand venture for our new nation: the Al-Samira Free Trade Zone. We will be constructing the new city and leasing out portions of Al-Samira Port to individual nations, where any nations may come to do business with each other, free of tariff."

"Any parties wishing to come to some agreement with our government: please send a note to our delegation, and we will be happy to work something out."

"Thank you for your time, and Peace be upon all of you"

With that, the Al Qalaa delegation ceded the floor.

The Free Trade Zone proposed by Al Qalaa brought a twinkle to Daedalus's eye. Certainly it was a little unexpected, but it was a great oppertunity. Nag Ehgoeg would be building an arms factory in Al Qalaa anyway... but this was a fantastic chance to make a lot of money. Daedalus didn't really expect the delegate's to follow Lyia's neat and organised plan of show and tell, so took the chance to speak in the lull between Al Qalaa giving up the floor and someone else taking it:

"ACO Ltd sees great oppertunity in this free trading zone and would be happy to invest in it." He said as he passed a note offering a discrete proposal to Al Qalaa.

Jason Canthrisus and Edward Thanton had attended the conference to represent the United States and Goreprime Enterprises. While many who attended here did not share much of the new American ideology, there wasn't a a single nation present that Goreprime Enterprises would not consider trading with, save the impostor United States. Money spoke louder than words, and the two delegates were prepared to sign their names to almost any trade agreement.

Jason stood. "Ah... it's so difficult to say no to any face here, save maybe one," he said, giving a side glance toward the "West Coast's" Vice President. "As such, the United States and Goreprime Enterprises will be fully willing to agree to a majority of proposals. We've seen the state of Al Qalaa rise with great interest, and feel that their business can benefit our country greatly."

Meanwhile, Lord Vizx Hikaal of Scythirus remained mostly silent, his proposal short and to the point. His country was already engaging trade relations with Al Qalaa, and predictably the whole Dominion would be joining in during the near future.

"Scythirus also has oil fields," he commented flatly. "We also have a number of useful ores to provide."

The note returned to the Nag Ehgoeg table quickly scrawled:

"10 sq. km of downtown of Samira for a plutonium stockpile and technical Nuclear expertise, no other cost."

"Done."

Was the one word response from Daedalus. What was it with Middle Eastern states and their desire to become nuclear powers? At this stage in the game, Nagian Nuclear Techs had practically written "Nuclear Power and Weapons For Dummies".

"I am ORDERING you to step away from the door."

The large Nagian guard blocked the doorway from the shabbily dressed little man who had tried to enter the conference.

"I...I tell you, invited I am." said the Chief Elder of the Amish Children. He was dressed in the classical Amish style, his black hat, blue shirt, dark blue rather worn coat, and suspenders holding up his dark blue work pants exposing his black work boots. "I have come a long way."

"One more word out of you and I will have you arrested and thrown into a cell. Now get along, and away from this building."

Chester looked at the guard, standing a good foot and a half over him, then tried to peek around him to see if there was anyone who could help him. He couldn't see over or around the guard's bulk. He shrugged, and raised his head, and began walking toward to door in defiance. A sharp blow from the guard's rifle butt to his mid-section convinced him he had made a mistake, and he collapsed on the stairs.

Two men, equally as tall as the first guard came at him, picked him up by the arms, and began to drag him away.
