Meeting with King James II

Just after the Canton Rouge Meeting, accommodations were being made for King James II of the Royal Dutch States. Yet another constitutional monarchy and Dutch Nation, the Royal Dutch States had many similarities to Canton Rouge. However, Canton Rouge was a neighbor, and the Dutch States were far off, in the totalitarian continent of Asia. They were one of very few democratic countries in the region, with a constitution restraining the monarch's absolute power, and giving accountability to all of its officials.

Toussaint Chevalier was planning on keeping the Royal Dutch States free if he had any word in it. He wanted to align with the Royal Dutch States, to ensure both's commitment to freedom. An aid popped his head in the doorway. "Mr. Chevalier, King James II has arrived." The Dutch King entered the room, and was quickly greeted.

King James II had never set foot on foreign soil. To do so, so close the the homeland of his ancestors felt strange but not uncomfortable. He knew that he could make a friend far from home so he welcomed the invitation of the Çerdoné people with great enthusiasm.

As soon as the plane landed on the airport a small military honour guard was present with Dutch banners, and even the anthem had found its way to Europe and the small military band played it well. Everyone could see that the king was most pleased.

"Thank you for the warm welcome Mr. Chevalier I am truly honored. If your trade and military proposals are as honest as your welcome gift i am positive we can start a solid bond of friendship here today.

Then behind the king 3 men and one woman in a suit moved forward while one of the men cleared his throat. "Oh forgive me Mr. Chevalier. Allow me to introduce my most important ministers.

General Thomas Martok Minister of Defence and Jessica Caspers Minister of Foreign Affairs she would like to discuss alliance proposals with your government.

Ronald Jefferson Minister of Economy and Gerrit Zalm Minister of Finance would like to talk about trade agreements we might sign.

And i take you have some additional proposals to discuss as well.

The Prime Minister was pleased to see that King James II enjoyed his welcome celebration. A lot of work had been put into the welcome, and now that it was received, it seemed worth it. The Royal Dutch States' king had been pleased, and now more open to negotiation.

"Welcome to Çerdoné, King James. The Çerdon people are pleased to see you here in our country, as the leader of one of the two freest nations in Asia. You are seen as an inspiration to our immigrant community, and to myself you are one of the only reasonable leaders from the east." After welcoming the king, he turned and gave a handshake to the ministers who James II had brought with him, introducing himself.

"There are in fact many things that I would like to discuss with you. As a free country in Asia, I am highly interested in establishing relations. First and foremost, I would like to ensure the security of both our nations in a mutual defense alliance. But, rather than just entering something bilaterally, I would like to extend the invitation for you to join JAUST. By joining JAUST, you would automatically be thrust into a position in which you would have several allies, and have a sure protection against aggressors.

"I urge you to at least consider that treaty. If you do not wish to join an international organization, then in the very least I'd like to extend a bilateral alliance." He then turned to King Williams aids. "General Martok, Madame Caspers, feel free to participate in the discussion. What do you Dutch have to say on the matter?"

Thomas Martok, Minister of defence was pleased his most important subject was started right away.

"We have read your letter of invitation very well and noted your proposal to form an alliance with Faust. We see that our agenda's for as far as we know, are much alike. But as a relatively young nation in international diplomacy we are not sure the time is right to join. We know to little about all members or the past wars of Jaust. The last thing we want is forming an easy target for jaust's enemy in Asia. Democracy is scarce in Asia and applying to Jaust might make us an easy jaust target in the area."

Jessica Caspers didn't agree "But perhaps, we should take the risk"

King James looked at his ministers and raised his hand, both fell silent right away. "As you can see, we are still divided on this subject, but it has our full attention. For now however we would like to discuss the possibilities of a smaller alliance with Cerdone and the Royal Dutch States, once that is discussed, we can look at the Jaust matter. I want to be honest to you, we are not sure we will join Jaust, but we will listen to your arguments"

"Well your kingship, I can assure you that JAUST will be to your liking, and I'll discuss those matters with you momentarily. I agree that forming at least a bilateral alliance would be best to handle first, to secure a friendship immediately.

"We would be interested in seeing mutual defense, free trade, and relatively free movement of people occur between our states. If you've anything to add to those terms, please don't hesitate to tell me. After that, we can discuss JAUST membership.'

King James looked at his ministers end then returned his look the the prime minister. "No, it seems you got it all covered. It also also my peoples whish to discuss the alliance and ofcourse the trade possibilitiets between our two nation.

For example we are looking for places to invest, we have confidence you're companies can be the right place to get started in europe. Of course our market will be opened to your CEO's aswell.

As for the free movement of people, we think a treaty can be discussed, although i must warn you that we have strict policies. We wish to keep viruses and such of our island so we demand that all people who visit us have the proper vaccination's.

OOC: sorry for the delay, had a lot of work and had barely enough time to write something in the tyr topic.
