I like the idea of creating an Empire of sorts, however I think that the individual states of the Empire should be given some autonomy, especially on matters of foreign relations. If it doesn't involve the Empire as a whole, then the Empire shouldn't get involved.

Personally I like most of the revision to the Constitution, but that's just me.

As for down the line, I'm not so sure staying out of a war with the Dominion will be an option but that's to be decided when the time comes.

OOC- Personally, due to my involvement in this Dominion RP, I would strike down anything that would have so many countries go neutral at once. It ruins the point and fun, and makes no sense.

As for Empire or alliance, it isn't all that secondary. Its important for Alexanderhaven because of their connections to both the former and current ruling houses. They want power....or atleast Michael does.

However, all that said and done, I'm a bit ambivalent to a resurrected Empire. I liked how it was done before, with RD as the Empire and everyone else being under his zone of influence. This weird federation thing doesn't sound much fun quite frankly. Sounds like something akin to the Holy League mixed with JAUST.

OOC: Fun is a matter of opinion. I personally dislike war threads, as my interest tends to fluctuate, and having a responsibility to post in a war thread kills it even faster... That's the main reason I want to stay out personally, and just fund one side. I might use reconstruction (following the unification of Andorra) as an excuse to try and stay out of the war, should the Empire get involved.

I'd prefer a federation to an empire, one where the Emperor is a symbolic representation of the Imperial Senate, which has proportional delegations based on populations, and regional autonomy (Russia operates independently in Russia, Hispania in Iberia, WRK in Africa, and Italy, etc).

As for power, my King isn't really interested in gaining any. Romano is only looking for support in Iberia, as I've said, and is ambivalent towards the Empire as well.

EDIT: It's already been decided I can have Spain.

EDIT 2: This isn't the place.

I dont think frankly that NRE is going to give your Iberia. He DID say he was going to put a halt on expansions for the sake of saving space....

And if you dont like war, fine. but to have so many countries suddenloy go neutral irks me, as I (and many others) want this to go through. I don;t intend to let my months of work to go to waste just because of this.

It was Quaon's original idea. So ask him.

OOC: My original idea was to create some sort of supra-national organization that resembled the EU for Orthodox Christianity. One which would have certain powers while each member state still technically had autonomy in matters of both foreign policy and internal policy.

I was thinking back to the days when Xanthou swore fealty to the Emperor but continued to rule more or less as if Africa was still independent.

Xanthou was more of a disobedient vassal.

FWIW, the Triune Kingdom will aid Hispania in uniting Hispania, will jump to aid Russia in any war (sorry I didn't make it into Georgia in time...), will fight for the defense of Alexanderhaven, etc. This is true regardless of whether an alliance is formed, an empire is constituted, or if things remains as they are.

I think that we should see this as a longterm project and be willing to change our thinking in response to whatever future developments may occur. But I would like to see something occur eventually.

OOC: My nation would definitely be interested in joining this, being that the Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the oldest Christian churches. Once the end of May comes around, I will Rp my nation's interests in this organization.

OOC: Being that this slightly old discussion has just about everything to do with the recent thread of Rome Reborn, we should continue the discussion of how to go about forming such an alliance/Empire. I'm willing to go by whatever everyone says as a whole; afterall, it's not like it's my Empire: Sedulion is but a servant. I've already provided the spark, though perhaps quite a radical spark. All you guys have to do is provide the gunpowder.

Siadhail seems mainly a Syrian country, at least speaking geographically, so I would presume Antioch-on-the-Orontes.

OOC: I haven't established a Patriarch in Sedulion yet, even though with Damascus I'm allowed one. I'm waiting for a certain event... ;)

OOC: Well since after my nice little RP Menhad will be Orthodox, Menhad would most likely join this what ever it is.
(I kinda like the whole Empire Idea, similar to the WMD)

I haven't thought of having an Orthodox League (or some alliance superstate based upon religion), muchless one that would compete with the African Union. Even still, Zeelar would have serious problems joining an organization that could usurp national sovereignty.

Menhad, I did not know you were planning to become Orthodox. This puts a whole new perspective on Morroconian-Menhadien relations. (I am still working on the overall plot for the Black Panthers, or at least I was until I read this.) There is perhaps, other alternatives to the Obama question. When do you intend on making Menhad Orthodox? It all depends on timing.

That's a good point, and still there is a minority in Zeelar that isn't Orthodox.

OOC: We're rigging it up a certain way. Nothing is yet set in stone. My idea would consist a main nation where the Emperor is based out of, core nations that are important to being part of the Roman Empire, willing protector nations (perhaps my own Sedulion) to provide extra obligation in the military sense, and associate nations that are perhaps not in a Roman zone of influence but wish to ally themselves with Rome nonetheless.

In this way, nations wouldn't necessarily lose their identities: core nations being as ancient Roman provinces, their kings being the governors; protector nations keeping their military identity fully intact, but their nation more like another province; and associate nations being as allies to the Empire, being separate entities altogether but obligated as any nation is to another in an alliance.

Just my idea. Kind of similar to WMD, but not really. The different nation types have very different duties, and not everyone would have to standardize themselves in nation name and money. Sedulion as a protector nation, for example, would possibly keep on using the florin because of its crusader state nature, but would possibly change its name according to Roman province classification. Its military, the Brotherhood, would be under full military obligation to the Emperor, but would still be commanded by order commanders, not Roman ones, and would keep all of its uniqueness. Sedulion might, however, have to provide barracks and training to the standard Roman Army (which would be used by core nations).

OOC:

I have some thoughts on this. I want to do some brainstorming as well as talk to a few people online. After I do those things I intend to write up mass-PM to people who may be interested. Anybody who might be interested in either being part of a Basilea ton Rhomaoi or who are interested in being vassal to such, please list yourself here so I can save your name for my eventual mailing list.

This sounds like a worth while venture, keep talking. There is a future for Morrocon that I haven't quite settled on yet.
