Nuclear, biological, and chemical attacks! The rampant and spreading use of mercenaries--men paid solely to slaughter! Prisoners are shot, civilians are defiled, and war is seen as merely a game where one need only type in an order to strike for it to occur! SHOULD WE ACCEPT WAR AS IF IT WERE MERELY MESSAGES SENT BACK AND FORTH ACROSS AN INTERNET CHAT ROOM OR A FORUM? NO, WE ARE IN A REAL WORLD, WITH REAL LIVES TO BE SAVED OR LOST! ::applause:: PM: And so, Representatives of Austro-Bayern, I call upon you to support the holding of Conventions in Munich on the matters of the Laws of War! I call upon you, Representatives of Austro-Bayern, to cry out HONOR AND GLORY AND NOT STAND FOR THESE HORRORS ANY LONGER! ::applause:: PM: Herodotus once said that "The only good is knowledge, and the only evil is ignorance." WE KNOW OUR WORLD IS REAL! WE KNOW OUR WORLD IS SHATTERED! AND WE SHOULD NOT IGNORE IT ANY LONGER! ::applause:: * And so, little Austro-Bayern sent out invitations. Invitations to every nation on every continent of the world. Invitations to The Munich Conventions Relative to the Conduct and Practice of Warfare. *** OOC: As I recently learned and as many of you have probably noticed at one point or another, the Geneva Conventions don't apply to our little world :o The Munich Conventions seek to correct this. Assuming enough countries show up (which, you know, they kinda should :angry: ), I'd like for a small separate area on the forum to be set up where we can discuss, following the patterns of the real-world Geneva and Hague Conventions: 1) "the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field and at Sea" 2) "the Treatment of Prisoners of War" 3) "the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War" 4) "Laws and Customs of War on Land and at Sea" And yes, I know this forum is chock-full of evil nations and so on, but for the record pretty much every country on the planet in the real world has ratified the Geneva Conventions, so that should tell you something... <_<

The New British Empire follows its own laws, and will not see our rights infringed upon by some international organization. Durick Veta will send a representative. OOC: Is there a reason for you being morally offended that our fictional countries don't abide by real world laws?

The King looks to the Christian "Just War" tradition as a source for this discussion. However, the King's delegation has strict instructions that no institution of international law can be binding without the official endorsement of the Roman (or currently Russian) Emperor, and thus the delegation will not sign any document of international law that is not endorsed by Russia at this time.

The Military Republic thereby denounces this Convention as yet another civillian chain binding the military to their whim. We will not send a representative.

We Swiss find ourselves with a limited armed forces. We cannot afford to sacrifice the only methods we have of defending ourselves from the unjust tyrants of the world for the sake of good form. However, we also understand that a great deal of powerful nation may not attend and therefore we will withhold our judgment and any commitment to these new laws until all provisions have been made completely clear. Hungary Principality of Hungary supports the convention and belive in its ideals. We will partecipate
