RPing is easy to a degree. It makes it a lot easier when you find a partner to show you the ropes and how things work. I'd suggest reading some of the topics, like a nations description, and a diplomatic meeting before you start anything up. They will generally give you a good idea of how to do things. Wars are the same way. If that doesn't help, just ask. We were all new when we started. Heh. |

Let's make this explicitly clear. Post count has nothing to do with RP ability. Just look at me. Look at my glorious post count. Look at the glorious post empire I have built from the skulls of my post enemies. And I still can't RP for crap when compared to people like RD (that's (apparently) Romanus Diogenes(?)). So yeah, there's that. Also, RP can be hard and it can be easy. Hard RP would be an intricate plot, dozens of characters, broad thematic elements, and an authorial writing style. Easy RP would be placing yourself next to me and having me roll over your armies and blow up your base. Both of these are totally acceptable and just as much RP as the other. We've had people up for the Nobel Literature Prize and even some semi-illiterates (remember that Lind Land guy?). You'll fit in just fine. |

So far, My progress- Read a whole bunch of threads, and post in the offtopic forums. The things i've noticed so far: 1. A lot of people like to write a whole bunch. 2. People are nice-ish here. surprising. 3. If I make any grammar mistakes, I'm gonna be made fun of for it. I think. 4. People are pretty smart here. and they're older than me. |

Actually no one cares about grammar around here. We all sometimes type too fast and make grammar and spelling mistakes, so no one is in a position to criticize. As long as you know English and can get your point across, your task is finished and you don't need to worry about grammar or spelling. This forum is about RP and camaraderie, of course! Not boring stuff like grammar. Lind Land was a former member from a few years ago who had some subpar grammar and spelling. But he was creative enough in his RP. He eventually got banned for violating the rule against having multiple user accounts. |

Everyone has such perfect grammar, is all. Pardon me for this, but what's wrong with having multiple accounts? |

It's against the rules to have two or more on the forum. You can of course have more on NS. The thing is, Lind Land knew this rule, and disobeyed it, and tried to hide the fact. He was a jackass. |

The main rationale is that having multiple accounts allows you to screw up polls, and some forum polls are used in RP storylines. Secondly having multiple accounts messes with people's minds - there was an infamous member named Corsairio who abused that to no end, so multiple accounts was pretty much discredited. There are really only two life-or-death rules in the forum: 1.) No multi-accounts 2.) Mapmaker has final say on the map |

Oh. Of course, I knew that... XP So multiple accounts would screw up polls. And since polls are important, you don't want them to be screwed up. pain in human form? |

If you had met him, you'd understand. Sistan was another. Just try a little RP. Have one of us join up with you in it and we'll work you through it. A lot of us have been around here forever so we really don't mind helping you out. |

Someone who randomly pops in every once and a while. Doesn't do any real RPing. Just kind of posts the occasional comment then vanishes for a month. The forum ghost, if you will. |
