OOC: If you weren't invited by PM, you have no reason to post here. IC: The conference room was ready. President Yugaf Lutenktzi paced eagerly within its four walls while Yshurakan diplomats and Soviet councilmen began seating themselves for the meeting. Tightly at his side he clutched at his copy of the first draft of the treaty that would seal the forming of the United Socialist Alliance, a new worldwide alliance for Communists. He had sent out the telegrammed invitations days ago, and already received three confirmed responses of intended arrivals and one rejection. The rejection had been surprising, having been from Quaon. It was a pity, but then that nation would have to stand on its own until it came to his senses. The confirmed arrivals consisted of delegates from Irkutsk, Tropico, and Espanőra. No response whatsoever had been received from Socialist Eleytheria, but he silently hoped that they'd send a delegate anyway. Yugaf momentarily glanced at the massive hammer and sickle that decorated the wall and smiled. Soon that symbol would once again represent a great power of strength and unity in the world instead of being overshadowed by the many fascist dictatorships and monarchies that plagued the world while trampling over the proletariat. Communism would truly mean something on the international stage again. The president peered at his watch for a moment, awaiting the arrivals of the foreign delegates. |

OOC: There actually is a reason beyond the ToK for Quaon not joining in the alliance. The FCP, the organization which basically created the current government, is strongly against Andrey Puzankov. Edit: U...S...A...genius, Scy! IC: Secure To: President Yugaf Lutenktzi From: President Luka Falan I apologize that Quaon has not sent a delegation, but Quaon has seen the attrocities that Andrey Puzankov has commited, in the first and second Eleytherian revolution, and find it unacceptable to conudct relations with Socialist Eleytheria. Quaon wishes to still have a strong relationship with Yshurak. However, it is simply morally unacceptable to negotiate with Socialist Eleytheria. If Socialist Eleytheria would be rejected, I might reconsider. That notwithstanding, it would be Quaon's policy to have a healthy and respectful relationship with Yshurak, and I truly hope to continue that. |

Oscar Cristol: not a well known name even in Tropico. He wasn't the picture of revolution. Fat, bald, with a disgusting mustache, he resembled more the capitalist pigs he hated. His suit was a bit small for him, gripping his belly snugly. But he was Emilio Guerra's top diplomat. He had secured arms deals with Aurum, and assistance from communist groups across Europe. So, he had been chosen, above all other political officers, to go to Scandinavia, to negotiate with Yshurak and the Siberians, and even his fellow Latino Espangorans. Cristol and his small entourage disembarked Flight 404 direct from Tropico, into the Hispanic airport at Barcelona. From there, they boarded a plane to Quoan, and a third plane to get to Yshurak. No hypocrite here; no private aircraft. When Cristol finally disembarked after the difficult, lengthy flight, he was in no pleasent mood, and it was made worse only by the gripping cold of the Scandinavian winter. His thin coat didn't help much. He was used to a steamy jungle, not snow. Not winter. Several government cars were waiting for Cristol and his men outside. Cristol himself would have preferred taking a bus, or a train, but the location was secure, and some precautions were necessary. A mercifully short ride later, he had arrived in the appointed place, and smiled at the sight of the Yshurakan flag alongside his own. Cristol and his entourage got out of the cars, and entered the building. They had rooms there, where they would sleep until morning. The next morning, Cristol was well rested, and prepared to go to the conference. As he entered, he saw the president looking down at his watch, and Cristol nervously glanced at his own. Was he late? He peered across the room, but could not see any other delegation. He was fine. He pointed his delegation to a group of chairs marked "Tropico", and himself walked over to shake the president's hand. Through a translator, they shared a few short greetings, and Cristol returned to his appointed place at the table. He looked through his papers, which authorized him to act in the power of the People's Republic of Tropico. Oddly enough, he thought to himself, this country did not even exist yet, and was already getting involved in a treaty. He smiled. |

Kalin arrived in Yshurak 1 day early to go see the sights, he rarely had the chance to travel, let alone to another socialist nation, the way things were run amazed him, although things were ideally the same, it was still so much more different, the weather was also very similar: Cold. After seeing what there was to see, he headed back to his hotel for the night, awaiting the chance to finally meet the other socialist nations. The next morning he woke up early to shower, dress, and shave, he wore a new suit: It was a dark blue, and his tie was a bright red, which stood out from his suit. After having breakfast his driver drove him striaght to the building where the meeting was being hosted, the architecture in Yshurak was outstanding, the building was beautiful. Once he got in, he did not head to his seat, but he went to meet and shake hands with every other delegate, he was greatful and rarely got chances like these, despite being the ruler of a central asain superpower. Afterwards, he headed to the meeting room, and noticed a massive hammer and sickle, that stood out from the wall, he sped to it, walking somewhat fast, he then reached up to it, and kissed it. It represented the workers of the world. He then headed to is seat and sat down. |

Marcelo entered the conference room third. One fellow South American was in the room already from neighboring Tropico, though Marcelo didn't expect to see anybody else from his continent. Even further, he didn't expect to see any Lusophone people in the room. Few nations in the world spoke Portuguese, and the HCI was not nearly Socialist enough to be seen at the meeting. Luckily, Marcelo was equipped with knowledge in English that channeled his communication with others. He also spoke Spanish, Italian, French, Catalan, and Romanian. He was confident that this would let him participate sufficiently in negotiation, though Espanora would pretty much agree to whatever was laid out in the congregation. Marcelo quickly found his fellow Latin American from Tropico and shook his hand. "Buenas noches," he communicated in Spanish. "Espanora will undoubtedly be looking for relations with our great socialist neighbor in the future..." |

Cristol nodded. In an attempt to honor his comrade, he spoke a few words in broken Portuguese, to no avail. Education was a rare thing on Tropico, and Cristol had recieved the bare mininum. He knew only Spanish. He smiled, laughing off the failed attempt to communicate in Portuguese, and continued in Spanish. "The revolution at home will soon be over, and then may the Tropicans and Espanorans be friends." Cristol said a few more words, before sitting himself back down. All the delegates had arrived. The meeting was to begin. |

OOC: Heh, the Amish are a bit too religious for Yshurak's liking. ;) Opiate. Masses. You know. IC: "Greetings, delegates!" Yugaf Lutenktzi began upon sitting. "As you know, we're all gathered here because we hold something in common, the socialist economy and politics of Communism. For decades, Yshurak has stood proud as a great force for Communism here in the cold north of Europe. Our population may not get to see the sun for half the year, but we realized with Jiran Hjork's campaign to presidency that we all deserve equal freedom and rights to resources available to man." He smiled. "Since a delegate from Socialist Eleytheria isn't arriving and Quaon refused us, we'll begin with the mechanics of the meeting. Each of you have been invited because as Communists, we desire to stand united and strong against the rampant capitalism that plagues and enslaves the world. Before each of you on your desks is a first draft of the treaty that we'll ultimately signing to form the United Socialist Alliance." He smoothed out the sheets before him while one of his diplomats read from the document. The treaty read as follows:
Yugaf cleared his throat as the diplomat finished reading. "Now as you can see, it's the basic bones of our alliance. This conference will be about amending and expanding the document as needed." |

Cristol stood up and cleared his throat. "I must say, Tropico will find issue Article I. Our people are religious, strong believers in Catholicism, and we feel there is nothing to fear from Christianity, and that it can properly be embraced into the folds of communism. A strict reading of the Bible lends itself a communist interpretation. I cite, for example, Acts 2:44-45, and Acts 4:34-37. "
"Is it not possible that Marx’s famous line “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” took its inspiration directly from the New Testament? Immediately following this second passage is a very interesting story about a couple, Ananias and Sapphira, who sold a piece of property but only gave the community a portion of the proceeds, keeping some of it for themselves. When Peter confronts them with this, they both fall down and die, killed by God for their greed! The Bible, and religion, is a great tool for use in communist society, and we must not be quick to throw it out based on past errors of the Catholic Church. It can be used to do great good for all the People!" |

"An admirable point, Mr. Cristol," said Yugaf Lutenktzi with an understanding smile. "That clause is not meant to forbid the practice of religion, but merely to forbid a member government from endorsing it. The moment a government endorses a religion, it ceases being a legislative body for the people and starts becoming a theocracy instead. "No one's going to say you can't go to church on Sunday morning, Oscar." |

One of the attending Yshurakan diplomats whose duty was to add in revisions to the treaty hit the print key for the next draft. Several printers throughout the room began producing copies of the document that were quickly handed out to everyone.
Yugaf looked over the new copy of the treaty with a moment of pleased satisfaction. "Is there any other suggestions? We have paper to spare." |

OOC: here goes nothing... IC: A well dressed young man walked into the conference with his short cut hair, holding a briefcase that seemed surprisingly light, as if empty, simply by the way he walked with it. A small ID Tag he wore identified his name to be "Dmitry Borisov." "Gentlemen," he began, "I am late, and I apologize." He walked for an empty chair, but he could tell the council was suspicious of him. He realized that he was in a shaky position. He began to break sweat along his hairline, and he knew it, he had to act before people noticed, or it'd be all over. Just as he reached the empty seat, his arm flexed lightning quick, bringing to bear a blade, throwing it at President Lutenktzi's head, but the Chairman was impressively quick, the blade missed the Presidents head by mere inches. Seeing his mistake, he quickly threw the briefcase at the President before jumping up on the chair and lunging himself over the table towards the man... |

Yugaf Lutenktzi and his chair fell backwards to the floor as "Dmitry" tackled him and tried to throttle him in the middle of the conference room. The president grunted underneath the other's weight while swinging in his fists in a counterattack, managing to land a couple of blows to his assailant's face. Nevertheless, the president was beginning to lose air while "Dmitry's" hands squeezed at his neck. A great fervor had arose in the room at the sight of the scene. Several Yshurakan diplomats moved forward to pull the would-be assassin off of Yugaf, restraining him as well as they could. Another diplomat carefully aided Yugaf back to his feet, the president quickly regaining his breath. In moments, the Unity Building's security came in to take custody of "Dmitry Borisov." The attacker was dragged out of the conference room with a helpless struggle, carted off to a storage room for holding. Yugaf Lutenktzi was eased back into his chair which had been placed upright again. "Are you okay, Mr. Lutenktzi?" one of his diplomats had asked. "Yes..." he replied with a slight cough. "I'm fine. Just make sure the guards have him ready for questioning after the meeting." He looked to the foreign delegates across the chamber. "Apologies for that interruption. It would seem Socialist Eleytheria is not so enthused about joining an alliance such as this. No matter." He reassembled his papers. "Shall we continue with the treaty?" |
