I joined as Mexico.
Though, they did dis us.... :|
There a lot of good people in those RPs... and a lot of total wackjobs as well...

so is Alternate Universes dead, or shall we give it another go? I would be inclined toward re-starting a Mari if we can find enough people to agree to play before we launch.

It's crazy that they dissed us since RP quality for them is on a level such as

Memo to US President.
Hey good to hear from you, we should talk about helping our economies soon. And thanks for the military aid.

Out of boredom, I decided to join this nation sim. It looks as though it could be promising, due to the huge amount of activity going on there.

I've gotten my hands on Hungary.
What's so complicated about it, if you don't mind me asking?

It seems very organized and detailed, if you ask me. But nothing that most people can't handle.

Map filling up very, very fast.

I control the central white area of Europe. In Europe, Scandinavia is left, as well as Belgium/Netherlands.

If someone here wants to RP Bulgaria/Hungary/Romania area, I'll give up that aspect of my territory. ^^

I may take you up on that offer; I'll let you know when I get off of work.

EDIT:
Someone else had linked me to that forum a day or two ago; I was somewhat uneasy at the way the map was shaping up, but like I said I would like to consider the offer you made above.

Actually, Hispania, I won't take that land; I think I may consider playing there as Sweden + Finland

I noticed a reference to NationStates in the map claims thread. Is that an NS based game?

Not really. I didn;t mention my NS profile at all.

I'm Great Volyn by the way. I'm planning on being a very big air power.

Hmmm... I have a few different areas I may want to try out: Sweden (including Finland), Mongolia, the Low Countries, Ethiopia, Kongo, or finally, perhaps an Inca state... hmm...

EDIT:
I posted a claim for Sweden and Finland. I guess I'll have to start figuring out how this Sweden differs from modern Sweden ;)

I mention Sweden twice:

Frederick William went to Odessa in 1641 to render homage to King Nicholai Konstantinos II of Volyn for the Duchy of Prussia, which was still held in fief from the Volynic crown. Later, he managed to obtain a discharge from his obligations as a vassal to the Volyn king by taking advantage of the difficult position of Volyn vis-á-vis Sweden in the Northern Wars and his friendly relations with Russia during a series of Russo-Volynic wars which ended with no real gain or loss. He was finally given full sovereignty over Prussia in the Treaty of Wehlau in 1657.

Seeing an opportunity in Napoleon's historic defeat, Prussia, Sweden, Austria, and a number of German states re-entered the war. Volyn, in turn, betrayed Napoleon, and quickly took the oppurtunity to defeat its armies at the battle of Krakow, in January 1813. Of the 27,000 men left behind on the Volynic line, only 2,000 would ever see France again. Volyn signed the Krakow Treaty with Russia, ending hostilities. This ended Volyn's place in the Napoleonic Wars.

Thanks for showing me those references! I am going to read through all the posted histories and do my best to tailer Sweden's history to fit this world.

We basically gotta work something out regarding the Northern Wars. Napoleon is essentially RL, except France got split up following his defeat.

And thus far, ICly, I hate Prussia, Russia, and the Byzantines.

You're my last chance to be friendly with my neighbours. ;)

Damn that's a lot of enemies to make already  Yeah, I guess we should get whoever is playing Russia as well to work out the Northern Wars. I hadn't yet thought about what kind of relationship I should have with my neighbors, but I think we could definitely have evolved good relations over time. BTW, what kind of demographics do you have?

The general rule seems to be that whoever writes their history first gets right of way, and everyone else works around it.

I hate Russia and Prussia cause they keep invading and partitioning Poland.

My nation is mostly Volynic [Ukranian + Belarussian], Polish, and Lithuanian. These three form the "major" ethnicities, and the Volynic language is a mix of the three. Then we have the Balkans - the Hungarians, Romanians, Bulgarians, Serbians, Croats, etc, in a little corner of the Republic, that don't really belong but somehow we have. I'll work that out with Byzantine, and that's probably why we'll end up hating each other - they see it as theirs.

Sounds good. I figure any Byzantine Empire player worth his salt wants the Balkans

Are you familiar with this language? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruthenian_language It is the ancestor of modern Rusyn, Ukrainian, and Belarusian, after it had split from the Old Russian language, as previously they had been one Old East Slavic language. Also I think that the East and West Slavic languages tend to blend a bit in the border regions and form a slight linguistic continuum, so Volynic could reasonably fit in as a standardized version of a Slavic dialect somewhere in the border of the Polish and Rus' areas, with strong Lithuanian influences. (Sorry if I'm rambling, but I just love it when people pay attention to linguistic issues in a way that actually makes sense, so I'm a Volynic fan)

Do you have any religious demographics?

Not really. There's probably Catholics in Poland, Orthodox in Volyn and the Balkans, and some Protestants in Lithuania.

I'd like to pretend my people never gave much a shit about religion, and my government has never historically paid much attention to it, post-Tuetonic Crusades in Lithuania.

The Austro-Hungarians seem to have managed well enough with the issue.

Ok cool. Just curious, since you are located on a historical "religious fault line." One of the weakeness of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was the disconnect between its Catholic and Orthodox peoples, and the crown's attempts to push Catholicism on its Orthodox peasants. Not focusing on religion probably makes things much easier!
