CRT, LCD, Plasma.

CRT are less expansive, but they are "tougher" for the eyes than other types. They are also heavier. If cash is important, then go for a CRT TV.

As for LCD and Plasma, they are softer for the eyes than CRT. They are easy to transport. To choose between LCD or plasma, just look for guides on google. You'll find plenty of them.

I'll probably buy a plasma HD TV next year or so. That, and also a Xbox 360 and a HD decoder. That would totally kick ass B)

I have both a CRT and a Plasma TV, my CRT is 62" (Part of my basement home theatre) and my plasma is a 48" (Main floor)

The CRT's are cheaper, but are huge, very huge, LCD Tv'd are only a few inches thick, the CRT has gotta be at least 2 feet thick,

Also, after turning off a CRT TV, the light bulb inside of it has to 'cool down' this takes a few minutes, and can get quite annoying at times, every now and then this bulb breaks, and you have to repalce it with a new one (There over 200 bucks for one too, so be careful)

The Plasma is a small, and light TV, however they can be on the pricey side, not toom any cons either than the price, it's clarity doesn't surpass my CRT though.

Cathode ray tube (good old TV technology).

I looked on the net, and there seems to be another competitor on the market: DLP. I read at some places that it had the best quality-cost ratio.

LCD TV's, up to 40 inches.

the Plasma TV's, up to like 72+ inches.

LCD last's longer (10,000 hrs vs 7,500 hrs).

Bi5th are expensive. I will get nothing until the Blue Ray / HD DVD wars are over (that's Betamax vs VCR to you oldies). For some odd reason, Blue Ray is leading the market, which is the Beta of today!

Meh. Sony's learnt a lot since Beta. And the market doesn't see Sony as the unconquerable giant it was before, instead it's trying to crush Mickeysoft.

Gotta say I imagine that HD could pull this format war back, but it'd require clever marketing, comprimises and gaining endorsements stolen from the Blu Ray side. But if HD could get any kind of momentum rolling then they'd just have to hang on until the next Microsoft console crushes the PS3. Then Blu Ray would be dead and burried.

As it stands... Blu ray is looking like a much safer bet.

As for high definition TVs... why bother? The only technology worthwile is DLP. And not rear projected big bulky DLP TVs either.

Do the new old school. Get a projector. Set up your basement (or atic) with a nice white wall. Project yourself a HD image on a 160" 'TV' - because really, it's not until you get that big that HD resolution is worthwhile.

The next microsoft console would go after the PS4, not the PS3. And don't be so sure PS3 will necessarily be crushed, inspite of popular opinion.

That said, I too will refuse any player (unless it's duel and does both formats well) until one side or the other gives up the ghost.
