Well I've got an essay. Not really sure what to write. Here is the title: "How best would you describe the contribution of Britain to the European integration process since the Second World War?" Giving me a few bullet points on somethign that was positive or something that was negative would be great lol! |

Is this EU only, or Econ with the Euro, or Cold War or all of that?? First Bullet: U.K.'s participation in the partitioning of Germany and Berlin after WWII. |

Sorry, should have said. Mostly European Union as the course I'm doing is about the European Union (although I have mentionned Britain's role in the imediate post-war period in my introduction). It's kinda the middle area that I'm stuck on. Like I know about it's contribution at present (i.e: negative), but I'm finding it difficult to find stuff out about it's contribution post-73 to mid to late 80's. |

"How best would you describe the contribution of Britain to the European integration process since the Second World War?" Minimal self interest. Long live the commonwealth! But seriously: EEC, EC, EU - we've always been dragging our heels. EEC membership in '73 and we've quietly been opting out, paying money, reaping free trade and vetoing adding nothing much to the integration process. |

No one can think of nothing at all positive to European integration? How about to enlargement? |

I hope you mentioned UN involvement, Medical Research, the fight against AIDS. These were major contributions. |

Major research in the early years (1980 to 1986) was done in France and England. I believe it was first identified in England. Nowhere else, by the way. Yes it was (and still is) a major problem in the EU, particularly in Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Greece, Turkey and, might I add, England! You silly boy, why do you think I plead caution to you so much! P.S. Rent the movie "And the Band Played On". |
