Yeah, so times are tough. Thus I'd like to request donations from each of you to help make ends meet.

I've never had any problem finding jobs. In fact, I receive frequently job offers without even asking for it.

May I see your résumé? I can probably help you finding a job. You just have to know where to look and more importantly what employers are looking for and how they expect you to be.

I have never ever failed a job interview (for dating that's another story lol  ). I think that the hardest part of a job search is getting the said interview.

True that.

Single now for two years, and not by choice.

I now fondly remember the days when refusal occurred and I would receive a nice lie to help save my feelings. Now for some reason, I just get a simply, concise "no." Which is actually sort of nicer in a way I feel. ;)

Great. I get back from an excellent year abroad, looking to get back in the game and find Paradise and Drax doing their best to rain on my parade. I have my circumstances conspiring against you already, I certainly don't need you two as well. :P

Resumes haven't exactly been required at the places I've applied to, sir. Besides, I've been out of printer ink for a very long time.

And I'm glad to hear that jobs are easy picking in Canada....

We are kinda in the same boat. My bank account is at -$53, and my girlfriend's at $-150.

I'm trying my hardest to get a job. Target never likes to call me back. I have to call them.

I don't know if it's true in the other parts of the World, but I found in Quebec that single women in big cities (Montreal) were much more selective than single women in small cities (Rimouski). In other words, the more a city is populated the more single women are looking for some obscure "perfect man" ideal. I don't know the exact reasons for this correlation, but the facts that 1) they face more choice in big cities and that 2) big cities are usually liberal while small ones are usually conservatives must have some influence.

If they don't find this "perfect man", they will either wait indefinitely or have multiple short-term relationships with ordinary men. Either way, they will be unhappy and hate men.

But that's just my opinion. I have lived both in a small town and a big city, and that is what I personally found.

Finding ANY job in Montreal is VERY easy.

Finding a specific job in Montreal is harder.

With my Master's, I will not really be afraid of finding the job I want (i.e. teacher in college).

I remember two years ago on the end of a semester, I had practically no cash and I would not begin to work before some weeks. So I began selling stuff (CD games, N64 and Super Nintendo stuff, etc.) on Ebay. I practically made 300$ which helped me survive until I began working again on a summer job.

Buy and sell textbooks on Ebay - quick and easy way to make a lot of money.

Buy college textbooks cheap at the end of a semester (December), when the demand is low and everyone is trying to sell their used textbooks, and sell them at a 25% increased price during the beginning of a new semester (January, July-August) when demand is high. Textbooks are an amazingly profitable commodity.

So true... and sadly I know a girl in Montreal that is essentially doing that whole "Wait for Prince Charming with the looks, money and style that will love you for what you are and sweep you off your feet" bullshit.

Its almost depressing to watch.

But not really.

And I'm trying to be slightly more selective, after several bad relationships which all ended ugly.

That's one of the reasons I want to get out of Montreal as soon as possible.

I mean, the city itself is nice and all, there are lot of things to do. But women here are pissing me off, the city is polluted and dirty, in summer temperature can rise up to 40°C with humidex factor, traffic jams are common, people are naturally egoist, criminality is rising with street gangs and all (walking in small streets at night is not safe).

My roommate says that if I was born in here, I would tolerate all these things. That's because she never lived out of a big city! She can't compare!

I have lived almost 4 years and a half in Montreal, I think I know what I'm talking about.

I may have to start looking for donations.

I just checked on my checking account. I don't know how the hell this happened, but in one day, I went from -$50 to -$250!

My social security check comes the first. $300.

Hope these people stop charging my account. Every attempted access puts me $30 more into the hole.

1) Anti: Close your account and open a different one. That will end the charges.

2) Women in big cities everywhere have the Prince Charming syndrome, as do young gay men. Ask CE.

3) All big cities have crime problems. I cannot imagine that Montrael is any worse than Chicago, L.A., Cleveland, London, Paris, Prague or Atlanta; in fact I suspect it is better. Having been raised in a large city I have "city sense" and have never been attacked, assaulted or robbed. I avoid dark side streets as a general rule!

4) Scy, sell a gown or two.

5) Jobs are hard to find all over right now, or at least good, well paying jobs are. Stop using the internet or phone and start walking into places to find jobs. Retail jobs are everywhere too.

6) Paradise, don't be so sure that a Master's degree in-hand will get you a college teaching job. I applied to over 100 Junior Colleges this summer and only got one interview. Everyone is looking for Doctorates in spite of what they list in their posts. Adjunct jobs, on the other hand, are possible, but pay shit.

Why teach in college with a doctorate when you can teach in a university and get twice the salary?

In Quebec, you need at least a bachelor's degree to teach at college. I will have a Master's and lot of experience as a teaching assistant. And I can not only teach economics, but quantitative analysis, research methods in human sciences and even political science as well.

One of my colleague finished his Master's this summer and applied in many colleges to become a teacher. After some interviews, he received four jobs from four different colleges!

There is a labor shortage right now in colleges and universities in Quebec. That's because babyboomers are retiring and there is not enough skilled labor to replace them.

NH: I found out what happened. I credited a ton of purchases, and while they don't get you in debt like credit cards, they are a tad delayed. That's exactly what happened. a crapton of purchases came through last night (total of 7), and for each one, an overdraft charge. (6 charges for $30 each)
