OOC- Scy, NRE..don't mind us...continue your battle. ^_^ IC- Several hours had passed since the place was captured. President Rawiri had sifted through the documents and had cleaned out (read: executed the prisoners inhabiting) many of the cells...except for the isolated block, where the Empire had kept their foreign prisoners. He made a call to Gassel, who sent in General Kahr to inspect the foreign prisoners himself, in order to see if any were worth anything. A few days later, Rawiri and the Kasnyian Intelligence head were walking alongside the cells. Whomever had been deemed "of interest", were released and placed in KMR custody. The rest were for Rawiri to deal with, who had most executed and a few placed in areas of his puppet regime where they would be most useful, while even more prisoners were sent to clandestine "camps", never to be heard from again. Finally they came upon what the Warden once called the "French Quarter" of the cell block. "According to his documentation," President Rawiri stated, "This particular fellow, Prisoner 2384, his name is Anton Proust, formerly of Great France." That name rang a bell to Kahr, who had heard of Proust's endeavors in Veta. "Proust?" he exclaimed, "Marshal Proust? This should be interesting....open his cell." Rawiri nodded then ordered the new prison guards to the cell doors. Kahr, without another word, walked on inside. "Marshal Proust," he stated, "I am Colonel General Hermann Kahr of the Kasnyian Military Republic. I am here on Executor Gassel's behalf on the look out for those who can be helpful to our needs. Are you one who can be helpful to our needs?" |

The new volley of missiles from the Kiru Taoese ship came fast and straight as they sped towards the Leviathan without discrimination. With the renewed attack came the downfall of the Captain's two flanking ships. They had been worthy of their design, standing as long as they had against the far more powerful Yamato II and it's numerous armaments. As for the Leviathan, it performed as it had, using it's superior design to that of the destroyers to evade as many missile as humanly possible. Though this worked well for the ship and her crew, it meant that the third destroyer that had been trailing close by the Leviathan was now in the way of direct hits. Trying as hard as it cold to match it's leader in evasive maneuvers, it simply could not keep up. Thus it suffered major damage, it faired batter than the flanking destroyers that were now being claimed by the sea. "We've lost both flanking destroyers and our shadow has taken major damage. We've got a renew fire on deck 3 but it is being taken care of. Missiles are almost completely fueled and ready for launch sir." said a deck hand to the Captain. The Leviathan and the Yamato II were not deathly close to one another. They had been speeding towards each other since the first shots were fired. They were soon to breathing down each other's necks. "Key of course, and prepare to fire the missiles" said the Captain who now sat on the edge of his chair. "Not until you see the sweat of that Captain's face do I want you to break course and come around putting that ship to our starboard and then go for a circling maneuver. Weapons officer, fire the missiles when ready. Have all non-essential personnel armed and brought up to the starboard deck. Tell them to fire at will to that ship. I don't care if all they hit are a few windows, I want them to know we're here for the long battle.!" A surrounding "Aye Captain" echoed through the bridge and orders were carried out |

The Leviathan's missiles came in with thundering ferocity, and coupled with the torpedoes and explosives of the Ziyeri fighters, the Yamato II was facing a hail of bombs. It weaved and dodged what it could, but it couldn't elude everything and it suffered several significant hits. Fires spread while armor became partially breached and several platforms of weapons were lost. It was no doubt that the new Kiru Taoese superbattleship had met its equal in the new Dynastian Vallahalla design. Such a looming fact continued to fill the Yamato II's crew with concern. Crewmen scrambled throughout the decks as they moved to put out the slowly spreading fires. The naval battle was becoming tiring for everyone, and yet the enemy was coming closer despite its own injuries. The superbattleship sped towards its opponent as well as if both were engaged in some perverted version of chicken. "Once we pass it, I want the following interchange of missiles after the next pointed directly at its top decks," Admiral Ojika ordered, his face covered and drenched with sweat. "Then I want evasive maneuvers. We've become a target of everything in the area and I don't want to lose our new ship." While the Yamato II boasted a faster loading time due to interchanging rounds of missile launchers, it was becoming readily obvious that it was not as nearly as armored as the Leviathan, allowing it a higher speed and better maneuverability. The next barrage of missiles had been loaded, fueled and launched at the still barely distant Dynastian craft. Other missile targets were the Ziyeri fighters that were quickly making themselves a menace. Only moments away would the two superbattleships come side by side. |

Many fighters had been annilated by the enemy superbattleship's guns, but soon they could see that the combined fire was having an effect. Boosted in their moral by this fact, they continued in earnest and all damaged fighters were ordered to use the very technique that had made the Kiru Taoese ancestors so formidable in naval air battle: The Kamikaze. |

"Thats all I needed to know," Kahr replied, "and know that the General will hold you to your word." With that he motioned for the guards to open his cell. "You are to be released. The waves of the surrounding ocean seemed to wash farther and farther away from the two ships as they waged their battle as if they were willingly trying to escape the carnage. Crews on both decks worked harder and faster than they had ever done before, trying as hard as humanly possible to gain that extra second on the enemy. The bridge was perhaps the most calm part of the ship from the outsiders perspective. Most of the battle for the officers here was done mentally as opposed to the physically fighting other crew members were waging as the put out fires, repaired damaged pipes, and worked on reloading their guns. There was no doubt in the Dynastian Captain's mind that naval crewmen for years on, would study this battle and believe that his enemy's navy would do the same. No where in the history of the Empire had such an epic battle on the high sea taken place. Not once in the life of the Empire, had she bore such a magnificent ships as the Leviathan. Yet as splendid as the ship had performed the Captain's mind and opinion was slowly changing. He wanted a challenge for his ship, there was no doubt about it. It was also true that the Dynastians had believed that the Kiru Taoese were one of the few to present such a challenge. Still the Captain could not help but now realize how gravely mistaken the Dynastian command was about the Kiru Taoese. For all their love of peace, they had in themselves harnessed the raw Asian warrior that the Dynastians had cultivated and unleashed for years. They were truly an Asian race to be proud of and were in no short supply, the Captain would write in a report later, of technological innovation so far as ship building went. Had they been born of the same mother, onlookers would have called the Leviathan and the Yamato II twins. Perhaps they had be born of the same monstrous creator that had risen from the depths of some dark place and gave life to two forces of equal power and strength. Or perhaps some force, beyond the ability of any mortal man to perceive, had in it's own perverse way, given life to the same idea in two different people in the knowledge that some day, months after construction and testing, they would come together this day at this place to mark history forever. Whatever or whomever wrote within destiny's pages to bring these two goliaths together was surely pleased at the spectacle before them. The ships were now at the a-pecs of their run. Neither helmsmen gave any indication to the other that he or she would stray off the head-on course they were presently on. Then, without warming and to the surprise of onlookers who would in years down the road swear was a rehearsed move, the two ships turned ever so slightly to avoid collision. Breathing down each other's neck, the armed Dynastians began to fire. The echo of hot bullets hitting the cold metal of the Yamato II's hull seem to vibrate not only within the interior of the Yamato II itself but within the Leviathan as well. Using side arms and deck mounted guns, they mercilessly fired upon the Yamato II's decks unleashing as many rounds as possible in the small window of opportunity that had opened. The enemy crew on deck returned fire as best they could. Both ships were now armed and ready for a another round of missile fire though neither of the Captain's suspected the magnitude of such an attack. |

The Yamato II was a swift-moving and aggressive target. As the last Ziyeri jets came in for their kamikaze attack, a number of shots from the superbattleship's 305mm caliber guns brought many more down. Most of the others were skillfully avoided, leaving them to crash into the ocean, with one narrowly missing the rear port and the last one to slide across the ship's top deck and crash into the mess hall. Deck hands rushed to the mess hall and kitchen to put out the resulting fires and keep them from reaching most of the food. It would be some time before anyone could use the mess hall for eating, as the mighty Yamato II would need many repairs if and when it survived this encounter. At last the Leviathan was close enough to spit on its deck from the Yamato II's. There was some fear that the two great ships might collide, yet they never did. It was a true case of point blank range now, and as the Dynastian ship opened fire on its decks, the Yamato II returned it in kind. Many deck hands would lose their lives or become grievously injured as the gun and missile fire crossed each other to unleash their destruction. Finally the paths of the two great ships would fully pass and their engines carried them away from each other. Both were evidently worse for the wear but still quite battle capable. Only fate would decide what was next to come. |

The Seconds that the two ships crossed paths seemed to last a lifetime for the soldiers and sailors on board the Leviathan and the Yamato II's decks. Both deck hands fought valiantly against the other to do as much damage as possible. Windows and pot holes were made against both hulls of the ship, almost equal damage between the two and all minor compared to the onslaught that would soon come. Many saw their fellow hands fall or get violently injured during the brief firefight between the two ships. With bullets flying almost sporadically between the two battle monstrousities, there was little science to who would get hit and who would live. Thus it was almost utter chaos for the ship hands on deck as they pulled the injured away while working hard to continue to the fight without allowing the other side to get the upper hand. Eventually however the firefight would end as the two ships finally crossed each others past and now put their backs to one another. Feverishly the helmsmen of both ships began to turn the two ships with the Leviathan turning left and the Yamato II taking the right. Within minutes the two ships were now in a encircling maneuver, the guns and missiles of both ships targeted directly at the enemy. Now was the time to strike, now was the time to deliver the final blow for battle. This thought seemed to transcend the minds of both weapons officers as the final decision to fire all weapons came to them. Without hesitation both officers recognized it was now or never and fired the missiles and guns. The force emitted from both ships could and some may even say did drive the ocean water from better the tow Mammoths, exposing the very sea floor beneath them as all the fires of hell were released and rained upon the opposing enemy ship. With now little distance between them, dodging the fire was almost impossible. Still both helmsmen did what they could to survive the onslaught of enemy fire. For the Leviathan the damage was extensive, but not crippling. Fires now raged on several decks ship wide, with out deathly close to the arms cabin of the ship. One of the missile platforms of the ship was damaged, but with time could be repaired. Engine failure was perhaps the biggest problem the Leviathan faced with almost 90% of it's engine power off-line. "There has surely been no greater battle than this one, this day....this time" thought Captain Ha Seung-Jin as he picked himself off the floor after being thrown from his captains chair after the attack. Ordering for a status report, the severity of the situation was beginning to sink in. "Have we really met our match" the Captain thought as he sat and pondered their current situation. |

The two ships circled each other like two wounded wolves after a fierce battle for Alpha male of the pack. Either vessel was watching for an opening from the other, but such a chance would never be given. The ships had their guard up for any possibility. Reports came in to Admiral Ojika about the damage across the ship, and it wasn't looking good. The Yamato II would require extensive repairs after this encounter—that is if it even survived this encounter. Fortunately for the Kiru Taoese's sakes, the Dynastian ship, the Leviathan, didn't appear to be doing any better. The combat had tolled them both heavily. The Admiral watched the satellite screens with the rest of his bridge watching the other ship and their own revolve around each other. It was an unnerving sight. "What are they waiting for?" he wondered to himself. Perhaps the enemy realized they'd likely destroy each other with very slim chance for one to come out the victor? Certainly he himself, and his crew saw it. But did the proud Dynastians see it? Originally he had intended an evasive run, but it was likely that such a thing would ensure their doom anyway. So what to do? What to do...? |

OOC- A TWIST BITCHES!!! :gnarkgnark:  IC- As the two superships circled each other, from the beaches, the Koramatros crew continued its cheers. Meanwhile, in the former colonial cantonment building in Valisburg, Van Meers, who had been watching the battle from a view screen showing the MJOLNIR's point of view, decided to up the ante a bit.... "Is the satellite charged?" he asked casually. "Only twenty percent, sir." "Not enough to even jam the signal properly if the last time we tried it on the Yamato II was any indication....nonetheless, it could provide a necessary distraction..." "Orders?" "Target the Yamato II. Fire an EMP pulse and inform the Leviathan to fall back several meters...they will get their break..." "Yes, Captain." |

OOC: Good sea battles take time :P IC: Captain Ha Seung-Jin could not get the radio signal from the colonial cantonment building even if he wanted to as communications were one of the keys systems that were currently off-line. With little power in his engines left, the Leviathan barely had any power to continue it's circling maneuver with the Yamato II who by what the Captain could tell, was in no better shape than his own ship. "Perhaps we have met our equal" said the Captain under his breath. His ship was badly damaged and he was not proud enough not to admit. Still he had all confidence that his ship could continue the fight if he pushed for such a move. Though his honor told him to continue the fight, he also did not wish to risk the loss of such a fine ship. She was truly a marvel to behold and perhaps no other two ships in all the world could have survived against the other as the two ships that now slowly drifted between one another. The captain sat in his chair lost in though we his first mate came to his side, breaking his concentration. "Orders sir?" |

"Maintain course... keep on guard," Admiral Ojika stated, sweat beading down his brow as though there were a small storm cloud over his head. "No shot shall be taken until we see them fire...." And so the Yamato II would continue to circle its mirrored vessel, unaware of any plot that may provoke further complications. Caution was to be practiced in the final stages of this naval conflict. It was obvious that a blatantly reckless missile war could not improve matters. |

"We are getting no response, Captain" "Damn," Van Meers muttered, "Is the MJOLNIR ready?" "Yes, Captain" "Prepare to fire then. Try your best not to hit the Leviathan if you can." ",......Yes, Captain." That would be next to impossible unless the Leviathan moved out of the way, and they both knew it. ---------------------- Just like before, the MJOLNIR powered up. It had not had enough time to get to full strength but it would be just enough to tip the scale. In whose favor, the controllers did not know. Nevertheless, several minutes after the order was given, the Yamato II was targetted, and like the last time, it fired. ---------------------- Below a great EMP pulse hit the watery battlefield, at once jamming radio signals in the area, and hopefully providing someone an advantage.... |

For a brief moment all went quiet. The voices of the crew, the humming of the engines, the air from the vents...they all lost their sound. Though it could not be physically seen, it's effects were felt throughout the ship. The water around the ships pulsed a bit as the field hit the area. Without warning instruments on the Leviathan went crazy and then simply cut off. No lights, no radio, no computers, no weapons, and no engines. Everything went dead and no one on board seemed to have any clue as to what happened. They simply sat in amazement at what had just occurred in front of them, silent until the Captain himself broke the stillness of the atmosphere. "Status report?" said Ha Seung-Jin with beads of sweat now forming across his forehead. "We need to get power back, it's getting hot in here." The bridge hand he had address still sat a bit dumbfounded. He sporadically began switching switches and pressing buttons. Nothing seemed to have any effect on the panel in front of him. "I really have no idea sir. If I had a fair guess I would say we were hit by some sort of EMP field." "Could it have been from the enemy ship? posed the captain. The deckhand looked out the window of the bridge, the Captain himself followed. The Yamato II was out there, still moving yet then again so was the Leviathan. Could the Yamato be merely drifting along like the Leviathan or was the attack really a test of a new enemy weapon. Dynastians were no strangers to the T-39 project of old but preferring to completely destroy their enemies as compared with disabling them, the Dynastians never saw the technology as practical. Yet now the Captain wonder if the Kiru Taoese had seen practicality in it and had now devised a way to use it for naval warfare. To truly get an assessment of his situation, the Captain sent his senior officers to check in to all the major sections of the ship and report back. It took about thirty minutes for them to complete this task and when they returned their reports were all very similar. Many of the computer based components of the ship were shutdown, although engineers believed they could have key components, such as engines brought back online after some rerouting. The Captain sat in his chair, gazing out the window to the enemy ship. These two beast forged of steel has suffered great wounds from each deathly blow yet somehow they remained afloat, begging for more and promising more in return. Yet now someone, somewhere whether the Kiru Taoese themselves had stolen the fight from these magnificent machines, at least from the Leviathan so far as the Captain knew. Yet still something made him believe the Kiru Taoese were in no better shape. They had not fired a shot since the everything went out, were they waiting to board the ship? "This battle is over" the Captain finally rationalized, once again breaking the silence of the room. "We have fought an honorable battle yet met a most unhonorable end. Still I cannot help but wonder if this is fate telling us to stop. We have met our match this day and if willing, we will leave from this battle wounded, only to heal, grow stronger, and fight another day. I now know what I must do." The Captain the rose from his seat, wiped the sweat from his forehead with his bare hand and walked over to the door of the observation balcony. Opening it, he stepped out onto the observation balcony of the bridge, and faced the Yamato II. "I shall be granted this one request to see the face of my match before this day ends" he said to himself as he simply stood to attention and waited. |

The atmosphere was a bit different on the Yamato II. The Kiru Taoese had seen fit as before to protect their ship's systems from an EMP shock. While in the top of their ship's prime, this would have seen it still fully operational, but due to the significant damage it had suffered in its fight against the Leviathan, many areas of the ship were plunged into powerless darkness. Even the propulsion engines were off line. Only the bridge was one of the few areas where power was still functioning. For a moment, the screens and lights had gone completely out before the systems rebooted around five minutes later. If the ship had still been at its peak, they wouldn't have even noticed the weak EMP. "Did it come from the Dynastian ship?" someone on the bridge asked. "No..." answered Admiral Ojika, arms crossed over his chest. "If it had, we'd be dead right now. My suspicion is that it was from the Topaz Faction's secret weapon again. This time our EMP protection circuits are unfortunately mostly damaged along with the rest of the ship." He walked toward the door and stepped out of the room. Wandering through halls, he came to the stairs that would lead down to the top deck. The salty breeze caught his nostrils, and his eyes squinted as they caught the bright sun's glare. He stepped over to the ship's railing, boots kicking aside metal debris, and took out his binoculars to look at the Dynastian ship. What he saw was a truly humbled and contemplative Dynastian captain. |

Though the sun was high overhead, the salty breeze had help to cool Captain Seung-Jin from the heat of his bridge. He had stood on his deck for several minutes until something or more precisely, someone had caught his eye. He put a hand over his forehead and began to squint. Though he could not make anything out affirmatively, he could see the sun's reflect from the brass of the Admiral's jacket. "So this is my equal" said the Captain to himself as he stood to attention. "You have fought well this day Kiru Taoese, it is a shame we were forced to be enemies at all. However, I would have picked no greater enemy to fight than a fellow Asian. I can only hope that you have come to the realization that I have. Neither of us can claim today's victory but we have both in our own way brought honor to our homes and countries. Way the sea be generous to you and bring us again together perhaps under a different banner than battle." He knew the Admiral could hear him, though if the Admiral could read lips then he had caught ever word. Captain Seung-Jin however, believed the captain of the enemy ship to be more than a mere man and believe that he did not need words to convey the message he had. The battle was over, neither Goliath had won, yet they had not lost either. They both proved their skill and power, they brought honor to their homes, and now was the time to go home and prepare for the next encounter. The Captain was almost positive the Kiru Taoese knew this fate and thus simply gave a bow, gesturing to him that Captain Seung-Jin respected him as man and a warrior and hoped one day to meet again. Though their countries different greatly on a good many things, the Captain hoped honor transcended both and that the message would be understood. |

Much surprise filled Admiral Ojika when he saw the Dynastian captain say something and bow to him. Nevertheless, its message and implication was easy to understand. The Dynastian had come to the same conclusion that he had... the two ships were too evenly matched for any manner of decisive battle. The bow had been one of honorable respect for a fight well fought. There would be no further fire exchanged between the two. Respectfully, the Admiral folded and replaced his binoculars on his belt and returned the bow to the Dynastian captain. The honor of this moment would be respected and preserved. A deckhand passed by and noticing the Admiral, he stopped and saluted. The Admiral returned the salute. "The engines are almost back online, Sir," stated the deckhand. "We should be moving of our own accord again in fifteen more minutes." "That's good news, sea man," Admiral Ojika replied with a smile. Then he gestured to the Dynastian ship across the way. "It seems our most worthy opponents have offered an honorable ceasefire." "Truly, sir? How—" "The captain just bowed to me in respect. We've been acknowledged as equals." "That's almost unbelievable, sir." "I know, but we're honoring the ceasefire," Admiral Ojika ordered as he began walking back toward the bridge. "As soon as the engines are back on... get us out of here." |

The bow from the Admiral was all Captain Seung-Jin need to see. His message had been received, the two captains understood the situation and would now allow each to return home respectfully and without any lose to their honor. The wind began to pick up on the deck as the Captain turned and return to the Bridge of his ship. He said nothing as he entered the room and walked to his chair. Straightening his uniform, he gently retired to his chair. "Status report?" he bellowed. "It took sometime, but we've managed to hot wire the international communications system to a new circuit, it is now online if not a bit crude. Nevertheless, we're received word that we'll have partial engine power back soon. We're still working on many of the controls here, but we should have many of the screens operational within the hour" "Good, set a course back to the Eastern Isles once we have helm control and engine power back online." "What of the Kiru Taoese ship sir?" "They were honorable warriors" said the Captain. "I can only hope that we may return again someday to fight them and avenge our fallen."The Captain paused, "While we await repairs, have some of the men go out and find any survivors from the destroyer group. Then once we're back online, set a course and head out." "Aye Captain" Soon the two beasts would once again regain their footing and began the long journeys home. Though the Kiru Taoese and Dyanstians never before entertained formal relations in the history of their nations, this one moment could in futures times prove to be the turning point in that affair. For now, only the Captain and his Admiral equal would have any desire to meet again. |
