Whilst everyone else in the General's command staff had been focused on the assault of Kasnyia proper, Captain Van Meers had been tasked with an entirely different operation; That of attacking and eventuallying seizing control of the Imperial colony of Ziyer. For months he scouted the territory, looking for weaknesses, strengths, people of interest. After all that time of analyzing, he made several observations: The attack could only happen in the absence of Ludwig Von Frohms, who governed the territory, as he was the only one in that colonial administration with the skills and character needed to defend teh territory. He also noticed that one of the Afro-Kasnyian locals, Erich Rawiri, held quite a bit of clout in Camaroon province of Ziyer and was of excellent repute throughout the colony. As such, Van Meers plan was made exceedingy simple. He would wait for the Governor to leave on whatever bussiness he had to attend (rather than martyr him in an assassination and allow the Emperor time to replace Von Frohms) and then start his attack with the RKS Koramatros, which Van Meers commanded, along with its very own battle group. During the siege he woulc contact Rawiri and make him an offer he could not refuse... Everything was in position. Von Frohms was gone. Now all Van Meers had to do was attack. Pity he didn't know about the Orthodox forces that were inbound from the Mediterrarean Sea.... |

Just as Van Meers had been poised to strike the Ziyeri coast, an emergency transmission from his spies within the African colony told him that the Imperial Navy had left the area in a hurry, heading north. The captain didn't know why or what was causing the disturbance, but he took it as a blessing and reformulated his plans accordingly, moving up the strike to tonight rather than three days from now, when the Imperial Fleet was to start its crew rotation.... --------------------- Erich Rawiri, police commissioner of Camaroon, was worried. The criminal underworld was abuzz with rumors of a major terrorist attack, yet whenever Rawiri tried to find out anything specific, no one would tell him or could. His interrogations were leaving him too many corpses. No one knew anything. And curiously enough, his own job was becoming easier. Crimes were becoming lower and lower by the day since the Governor left on his vacation. Morale and popularity had also risen within the Camaroon Constabulary as a result. Even so, Rawiri couldn't help but notice something very odd going on. |

Captain Van Meers smiled as the news reports came in. A large naval battle was ensuing near the straits of Gibraltar which was tying up two fleets of the Imperial Navy, including the one stationed to defend Ziyer. With most of the Empire fixated on the General's campaign Van Meers' fleet, the Battle Group Koramatros, had been unnoticed for the day it had been stationed in secret near Zolon waters. As excellent as that was of course, Van Meers had to get a move on and take advantage of this wonderful window of opportunity. Immediately after reconfirming his orders with command, the Captain ordered the fleet into attack formation, with every ship at all ahead full towards Vallisburg, major port city and capital of the province...and their target. They would arrive within 6 hours, where they would fan out and begin their siege, allowing two spec ops units (Fox Unit Bravo and Phoenix Task Force Ziyer) to overrun the administrative offices of the city and declare Ziyer as an integral compnent of the Military Republic. |

As the Yamato II continued its hostile pursuit of the Koramatros, hailing transmissions towards the Leviathan did not cease. The Dynastian presence so close to Africa was puzzling, and mildly concerning. Admiral Ojika hoped to have his answers soon. |

Valisburg, Ziyer In the chaos of the civil war in the Kasnyian Homeland, Ludwig Von Frohms, who governed the territory, placed the entire province under martial law, to ensure that this remained an Imperial stronghold rather than easy pickings for the Topaz Army. It is sad to think that in his attempts at prevention, he made the Revolution possible. Only a day after Guranburg had been reported to have fallen to the Topaz Army did the people of Ziyer decide that it was time for Von Frohms to step down. At first his methods for achieving this were peaceful, but due to the actions of the ever-paranoid Lord Governor, this soon failed and developed into bloody rioting. Within two weeks, Von Frohms was found dead in his office, beheaded by way of machete by his own servant. The effect was instantaneous. Ziyer Province went into open revolt, and soon the Kasnyian colonialists (and the Afro-Kasnyian demographic) were either being slaughtered or chased out. The Ziyer Colonial Armed Forces fought back with equal ferocity, taking control of the coastline as a safe haven for colonialists and other endangered peoples, evacuating them as best they could, while the hinterlands became increasingly anarchic. After weeks of fighting, Camaroon district was declared lost and Gabon District inching further and further from the Imperial Military's grasp. (They would later find out that the independance movement, while genuine, had been propped up militarily and monetarily by Topaz Army agents, also spreading propaganda against the Empire to further entice revolutionaries) It was around then that the Erich Zawiri, the Afro-Kasnyian head of police in the Camaroon District, and one of the few of his mixed heritage that had the respect of the local Ziyeris, used the Camaroon Police, who were personally loyal to him, to end the anarchy in the district, organizing humanitarian efforts as well as stop unnecessary bloodshed. At first, the Empire thought Zawiri, known for his fealty to the Empire, had saved the colony. They were shocked to find then that Zawiri had managed to meet up with the rebel warlords and make himself leader of the rebellion, with the condition that Afro-Kasnyians would be kept safe. It was then, even in the Imperial-controlled coastline, that more and more people left to hte only portion of Ziyer in a state of peace, Camaroon District. With little munnitions left to hold onto, and the rebellion- and Zawiri's makeshift government -gaining more and more popular support, the Imperial loyalists decided to flee, heading north by land, sea, and air, to the German colonial territory of Mali. As a final farewell, the superbattleship IKS Pfalzgraf, which was stationed there, destroyed the port facilities of Valisburg and the area beyond in a scorched-earth policy, and moved off coast to Sao Tome, which being a prison, was still under their control. Three weeks later, Ziyer declared itself independant and the People's Democratic Republic of Ziyer was formed, with Erich Zawiri as President. A week after that, the Topaz Army came in to begin negotiating the integration of the territory into the Kasnyian Military Republic, promising to rebuild Ziyer's facilties and ensure prosperity. --------------------------- The Koramatros was now about to reach Valisburg, where it would repair itself as it fought off the Yamato II...hopefully providing enough time for the Leviathan to arrive. |

The Leviathan with her 3 Dynastian destroyer escort which had previously been in the area for test runs was now hot on the trail of the Yamato II and her battle fleet. Engines were at full speed on all four of the vessel and they were making good time. They came come within satellite and radar range but were still not within firing distance. Captain Ha Seung-Jin sat in his captain's chair quiet pleased with the progress his ship had made so far. They were about thirty minutes out from their target, but were closing fast. He personally believed the Leviathan would be within range in half that time but kept his personal appraisals to himself. Continuing on their present course, the ships communications officer came up to the captain with a solute. "Sir, we're receiving a continuing message from the enemy flag ship. Advisement?" Captain Seung-Jin knew sooner or later he would have to answer the Kiru Taoese captain. This was still a sore subject for the Empire, facing a fellow full-blood race. Still there were obligations the Empire had to keep if they were to ever see their natural objectives. "Send word back, asking them for an appraisal of their situation but break up the signal to make them think we're having communications difficulties. If they try and boost the signal, boost the static. I want them to think we're not fully operational and keep them guessing until we are within range." "Aye Captain" said the Communications officer as he turned back towards his station. The message was sent out, and if ever cleared would read as a simply request as to the status of the situation. However, with so much static purposely put in the line, it would take sometime before the Kiru Taoese technicians would get it cleared up. |

As the Leviathan finally responded to the Yamato II's transmissions, curiosity grew. Naturally the Kiru Taoese superbattleship answered the question posed to them, reporting the pursuit of a terrorist battleship belonging to the Topaz Faction. Sadly, the static proved troubling for continued communications. "Can you try increasing the frequency?" suggested Admiral Ojika finally. "We've tried that... the static only gets worse," stated one of the officers seated at the communications console. "The Dynastians must be experiencing difficulty with their communications equipment." "Very well," Ojika stated quietly. Then he turned to the rest of the bridge, and spoke his orders. "Continue pursuit of the enemy vessel and maintain concentrated fire. We cannot allow it to reach that port." "Admiral, satellite imaging reveals the enemy ship is becoming severely damaged," reported one of the technicians. "We should be able to finish it off soon." "Very good... our superbattleship has proven itself well," Ojika stated proudly. Thus as the Yamato II maintained its chase of the Koramatros, it blasted away at the fleeing target with its numerous barrages of missiles. The Kiru Taoese would not allow this last major threat on the seas to get away. |

the Imperial Kasnyian superbattleship IKS Pfalzgraf detected the incoming ships, but could do nothing. In their haste to flee the hostile crowds at the harbor, they had little to no ammunition to fire on the Koramatros. Instead it fled north to Mali, to get supplies from the Germans, though it would take a few hours to get there. ---------------- The RKS Koramatros was done, and Van Meers knew it. No matter, they were close enough to shore now. With the Leviathan moving in, he decided it was time to make the call. "Attention all crew, this is the Captain. Prepare scuttling procedures. We are abandoning ship." |

The Leviathan with her 3 Dynastian destroyer escort were now in range on the Kiru Taoese ships. They had traveled a great distance to be here and the Captain was pleased they had arrived in good time. It was now time for a speech, to prepare his men for the coming battle and to bring peace to their minds that they were not going against Imperial doctrine by attacking the Kiru Taoese ship. "All hands, this is your Captain" said Ha Seung-Jin "today we prepare for battle against an enemy that is in fact our own brother. Know that we do not strike them out of the hatred for their blood as we do the half-breeds and Europeans. We strike them out of necessity as we know they would strike us if the tables were turned. They are in our way towards the goal set to us by the Empire and thus must be eliminated. Not only this but they are perhaps the only really challenge we can put against this new ship and see great results. The finest in Dynastian engineering when into the construction of this ship. Let us do those engineers a favor and show them through battle the great extent of what Dynastian power is. Today you fight for the honor of your family for generations to come!" Dynastains throughout the ship and beyond to the other ships that had received the encrypted speech began to chant in the Dnyastain language a pledge of sorts set to a song. The words were of honor, speaking of their forefather's honor and how they died for Dynastian's freedom. In the last verse they pledged to fight just as hard and been just as strong and find glory and honor in their own victory on this day. The bridge went dark on the Leviathan as it did on the other three ships. Only the soft glow of control panels and computer screen afford any light to the personnel. Within the ships themselves, only a small yellowish light glowed down the hallways and in the various cabin compartments of the ships. The Captain sat proud in his command chair, with his CB clutched tightly in his hand. "Wait for it" he whispered to himself as they drew closer and closer to the enemy group. Finally as if the excitement of the battle could no longer be stood by himself or his crew the Captain gave the order they had all be waiting for. "All hands fire as will!" seemed to echo throughout the ship as a small second of silence filled the air. It was broken by the shattering explosions of gun fire and missile launches. The Leviathan of the sea had finally awaken from it's long slumber and hungered for the flesh of its enemy. |

As the crew of the Koramatros initiated evacuation procedures, the Yamato II let free with another merciless strike of firepower. There was no doubt now that the old Vallahalla-class vessel was finished. The crew on deck of the the Kiru Taoese superbattleship cheered and whooped upon seeing the spectacular explosions appear on the distant ship. The Yamato II's performance in battle proved that there would be nothing more to fear from General Gassel's naval forces. Unfortunately, little did they know of the new threat on the sea until it was too late. The briefly victorious superbattleship shook violently after several direct hits from the Leviathan took it in the rear port. It coasted in the water for half a nautical mile while its engines were momentarily put off-line by the shock. Deckhands scrambled to put out the hot burning fires that assailed the ship before work on the engine could even be begun. Aboard the bridge, technicians scrambled to do everything they could to either communicate with or analyze the Dynastian ship and its escort. There was no doubt that the unexpected attack was from the Leviathan. A great number of missile pods and gun turrets diverted their aim from all-but-destroyed Koramatros to the new Dynastian vessel. "Continue trying to communicate with those bastards," Admiral Ojika ordered in outrage. "I want to know why they fired on my ship!" Then he looked at someone else. "Have we got engines back?" "Almost..." replied technical officer who was listening to the engineer briefings on his headset. "Circuits are being re-powered and we should be moving in no time, the engine room says." And in no time it was, seeming only a long minute later when it was actually fifteen, the engines fired up again and steered the Yamato II around to face its new enemy. Missile pods were ready to fire again, and without showing an ounce of mercy, the superbattleship unleashed a torrent of returned fire on the Leviathan. |

Van Meers, on a rescue dinghy, shook his head as he saw the Koramatros sink in the shallow water. No matter...the arrogant Kiru Taoese will know soon enough that their toy was no longer the top dog.... He and his surviving crewmen proceeded to land on the shore, from which they watched the battle unfold. -------------------------------- The IKS Pfalzgraf was witnessing the battle and was going to join in before it was called back by Cologne to help the Zorlin fortify the Enclave in the middle east. They left as soon as the Koramatros was destroyed, confident that the Kiru Taoese were fine. They did not know about the Leviathan. |

The Leviathan had been given the upper hand with their deception and the chance to fire first on the Yamato II which they had so graciously taken. However, know the Kir Taoese ship had turned her sights on a new enemy without mercy opened fire on the Dynastian ship. The enemy fire came screaming into the small Dynastian fleet hitting the Leviathan the heaviest. "Damage report!" barked captain Ha Seung-Jin over his deck crew. "small fires on deck two and four, second engine has gone off-line, we've switched to the first and third to compensate and crews are working to bring the 2nd back online." "Tell the destroyers to take up a wider position to the port and starboard of the ship, I want to attack that battleship from both sides and straight on." "Aye sir!" The crew of the Leviathan worked diligently to prepare the ship for another attack. While one Dynastian destroyer stayed close to the Leviathan port side, the other two began to slowly slip away. Farther and farther the began to spread as the entire fleet got closer and closer to the Yamato II. It seemed as if the two fleets would be right on top of each other before either were ready to fire again until finally the silence on the deck was broken. "All weapons on standby!" screamed the weapons officer. "All ships fire at will!" screamed the captain. Once again the Leviathan guns came to life as did the guns of the 3 escort destroyers. Each unleashed the great might of their heavy guns, sending ripples into the water around them. Missiles went into the sky at the blink of an eye all on their way to the Kiru Taoese decks. The true test of Asian might, perhaps the greatest Asian naval battle was now on underway. |

From the beaches, the crew of the now-sunken Koramatros cheered as their allies pummeled the enemy who dared destroy their ship. Van Meers on the other hand called into the Ziyer offices to request pick up, debrief, and soon...reinforcements to truely swamp the arrogant vessel. |

The Yamato II weaved maneuverably in the water as it avoided incoming missiles launched from its Dynastian counterpart, minimizing the actual hits it took. Possibly the greatest battle on the seas had begun, a slugging grudge match by two opposing superbattleships. Against this more improved Vallahalla II-class vessel, the Yamato II's abilities. Aboard the bridge, the battlefield was viewed through various satellite monitors. Admiral Ojika merely shook his head at the sight. Why would the Dynastians even pull such a stunt as this? "Sir, the destroyer escort is attempting to flank us," reported one of his technicians. "Orders?" "Aim a quarter of our guns at them and fire," the Admiral said with a grimace. "They won't be able to survive the impacts." Obedient to his commands, the Kiru Taoese superbattleship divided its armaments among the four targets, the majority concentrated on the Leviathan. Without wasting further valuable time, the Yamato II opened fire back at the Dynastian warships. As predicted, the destroyers accompanying the enemy superbattleship were overwhelmed by such fire. |

OOC: I'm going to assume you'll control these forces Kas. Encrypted Transmission to the Ziyeri National Air Force We request that you keep your assistance to intercepting any enemy air forces. We can handle the Kiru Taoese ship ourselves but will keep your assistance under advisement. Any assistance to the defense of the three destroyers that are our escort would be welcomed. End of Transmission ____________________________________ Fire crews seemed to be on the move constantly throughout the two destroyers on either flank of the Leviathan. Dynasitan crewmen worked diligently to put out the fires and repair the damage inflicted by the Yamato II. To the surprise of Captain Seung-Jin and perhaps that of his Kiru Taoese counterpart, the destroyers were still afloat, if only afloat by a thin hair. Structurally the three destroyers were built sound, perhaps as sound as the Leviathan. Yet as sound as their construction was, they were greatly outmatched by the enemy both by weapons as well as by technology. The Captain was aware of this fact, and though he hoped they would make it at least to ramming range, he at least enjoyed the momentary relief they created for the Leviathan. Still the Yamato II's primary target was the Leviathan and that fact did not escape it's crew as they do had their fair share of work to do in this battle. Though damage was minor compared to the two forward destroyers on either flank, it was still damage that required immediate attention. Crew members raced up and down the Leviathan tight halls, ducking in and out of every compartment. On the bridge a clear "hum" could be heard as the voices of the deck officers seemed to blend together in this hour where alertness and being one second faster than the enemy counted the most. The Captain had their speed maintained as they sped closer and closer to the enemy ship. As a show of talent and the extent of the ship's superiority to the Vallahalla-I class, the helmsmen of the Leviathan matched the Yamato II's dodge of enemy fire. Whether he was accurately a match for the Kiru Taoese helmsmen would have to be left for debt by a later generation. Still his skills and the ship's design allowed the Leviathan to miss several direct attacks to her hull. "Don't give up now men" said the Captain as he felt the thrill of the battle overcome him. "No where in your career will you find a more worthy opponent than at this very moment. Remember where you are now and the honor that you will bring to generations of your family if we should survive this day!" |

"This Dynastian vessel is a worthy beast," mumbled Admiral Ojika more to himself than anyone else in the bridge. He was also surprised that the destroyers had barely survived, but another string of hits would surely do them in. The ship rocked just barely as the jet fighters from Ziyer launched an attack against the Yamato II, its structure rather stable in the water. Bullets rattled uselessly against the ship's armored hide, the airborne enemies little more than an annoyance. There wasn't a doubt in anyone's mind that their opponents were trying to overwhelm the superbattleship. While half of the ship's missile launchers were close to being fully reloaded, the massive cannons that served as the rest of the Yamato II's defenses deafened for miles as they picked off what Ziyeri fighters they could. Not once did the gunnery crew allow their attention to waver too much from the main target, this new Dynastian ship that seemed to be a radically improved Vallahalla. There was a silent hope that such a monstrosity would never fall into Gassel's hands like the first generation did. At last, after what seemed like an eternity of waiting, the next volley of missiles were loaded and fueled. An order by Admiral Ojika had them launched immediately, streaking toward the Leviathan and its destroyer escorts. |

As the fighting between the two superships commenced several miles south of Ziyer proper, at the Sao Tome Prison, things were happening. With the superbattleship IKS Pfalzgraf called to help the IKS Zorlin in the Mediterranean, the Imperials had lose their primary advantage on the island. Soon, rebels who had long since seized control of Principe, decided to remove the old government from Ziyeri lands once and for all. With the help of their ragtag "navy" (in actuality several converted trawlers and pirate vessels), they laid siege to the prison fortress island. Warden Schausberg, the Afro-Kasnyian in charge of the facility, did not wish to end up like Von Frohms, and as such, several hours into the (otherwise futile) assault, he and his brutish guards fled the island on a prison ship and headed for the nearby coastal nation of Agbada to seek Asylum. Within minutes after their departure, the Ziyeri nationalist rebels seized control of the prison. Deep in the depths of the isolated block of the prison, several hundred prisoners of French descent, including one Marshal Anton Proust, wondered about their fate. In the former office of Warden Schausberg, President Rawiri himself flipped through the prisoner lists and made a fateful desicion. |

"Looks like we're in a bit of a pickle, doesn't it, mes amis?" Proust said sardonically to those who would listen. Those people consisted mainly of the few other high-ranking former French military officials that had been imprisoned in Sao Tome, as well as a few other Europeans and Americans who preffered to deal with their own kind. The group murmured agreement. Anton shrugged. The men here seemed to look to him for some sort of plan, some sort of way to escape. He didn't have one. "Well, let's hope they don't decide to hang us, whoever captures this place." The other men looked at Anton, expecting more. After a few moments, one of Anton's subordinantes spoke up. "Marshal, I've heard...rumors. They say the Imperial government has collasped, you see, and that this...Gassel, I believe his name is, controls Guranburg now." "Gassel..." Anton pondered the name. "Ah, Gassel. When we were in Veta, I remember hearing his name in an intelligence brief. He's a communist, isn't he? Bastard will probably have us all on the chopping block." "No, sir," the subordinate (his name was Jean Marie) continued. "The man is a fascist." "A fascist, eh?" Proust continued. "Ah, then, we're fucked. Fascist bastard like this...Gassel will almost certainly hang lovers of freedom like ourselves.? Jean Marie paused for a moment, considering whether to give up with this conversation, but decided to continue. "Sir, Gassel is also a militarist." Proust looked flabbergasted. He rubbed his chin. "A militarist...a man who knows the proper role of a military in a civilized society! If only I could have a word with him...perhaps...perhaps...of course! But of course! I can talk to this man, soldier to soldier. He'll listen. He'll allow me to go back...and...restore order to New France. Of course! Of course!" "Whatever you say, Anton." |
