Al Samh was much more than a man. He was a religious icon. He was the great whirlwind that would consume the infidels and wipe them from the face of the earth forever. Moreover, he was an ethnic icon. He spoke only the Moor dialect of Arabic. His customs personal mannerisms mirrored the Moor way of life it had been for centuries. His physical features were also strikingly Moorish, evidence of generations of carefully planned marriages. The Al Samhs of North Africa had always held enormous sway within the muslim populous, especially in the rural desert regions. Everywhere he went, men rose to follow him into battle. The Qosh-Mahdi had soon realized Al Sahm’s usefulness in this respect and quickly enlisted his services in the armed forces of the Umma promising him the best he had to offer: tanks, men, equipment. Now with Sutekh forces at their doorstep, the Qosh-Mahdi trusted no one less to defend the Western Border… if the Sutekhs ever actually invaded that is.

Sweat poured down Al Samhs face, gathering in the wrinkles and running down the surfaces. He reclined on a pile of ornate pillows on the carpeted floor of his massive command tent. Everything was done. Everything was finished. Everything was done. He had done all he could possibly… the Moorish general threw his head to the side and vomited on the carpet. Aids and guards rushed to his side. His youngest wife dabbed the corner of his mouth with an embroidered cloth. He sank back onto the pillows and muttered feverishly, “… the line is entrenched… supply routes… ammunition dumps … Qathar… Bansoon… call out militias… ready in two weeks…two weeks…two weeks.” His guards gently lifted him out of his vomit and placed him on a new stack of pillows on the other side of the tent. Typhus was the doctor’s diagnosis. The horrid conditions of the campaign and the close proximity of so many men as they huddled in the bomb shelters spawned a particularly deadly strain of the virus. Now the disease ran rampant through the Qosh-Mahdist Western Line as they sat stagnant waiting for the Sutekhs to move hopelessly overloading the inefficient medical staff. With the threat of Sutekh invasion Al Samh had worked himself into exhaustion and the virus had taken a terrifying hold on his body. He was of course receiving the best medical attention available in the area and the doctors were not without hope. However, it would be a long road to recovery.

IC:

The Confederate Memphis Fleet, off the shore of North Africa...

Posted Image

The fleet sat quietly in the Atlantic, mere minutes from the point of detection by the Al-Umma and firing range. On board the flagship, within a small dark room slightly lit by the soft glow of various computer screens Admiral Brian Borders joined by General Morgan stood hovering over a center console that had a digital map of the Al Umma shoreline on the surface screen which spanned the surface area of the console, the size of a small kitchen table.

"We are currently here General" said the Admiral as he pressed a small button that made several blue dots appear on the map. "We're only minutes away from firing range as well as the detection zone."

"Excellent" said General Morgan. "We will hold this position until we receive word from our Sutekh allies. Once they are in place, we will move in and begin our assault of the shoreline."

"I will move the fleet in, moving on a parallel position to the shore itself. When we are completely in place, the fleet will have created three lines, blockading the shore and creating three lines for defense against anyone looking to enter the nation by way of water. Our aircraft carriers will remain on in the inside line, while battle ships and other heavy arms ships hold the outside lines for both land bombardment as well as defense from any outside ships. We will effectively cut them off from any sort of supplies as well as give your land assault sufficient cover fire. I see nothing but success in this mission."

"Good, good" said General Morgan. "I already have landing craft on stand-by as it is, once we're in position the assault to the beach will begin. We must not delay in our efforts to create a sufficient beachhead and we will need to move quickly to make up to the speed at which our Sutekh allies so that we can create an effective 'strangle hold' on the nation."

"I can assure you General that I will do my part" said the Admiral. "Between our ships and our aircraft, you will have the cover you need to make it to the beach and create an entry point into the nation."

"Good, then for now we will wait until we receive the encrypted message from our allies that they are in position."

"Aye General"

Thus the massive Confederate Fleet, some 124 vessels of assorted size and armorments. sat patiently out in the Atlantic ocean awaiting the word to strike, and begin the invasion of Al Umma.

The invasion was to begin. As the Confederates had marched back to their ships, the Sutekhites had lined up a force of two hundred thousand men at the border of Al Umma. Should it need it, Sutekh-Te-Ankh would send reinforcements to this bulk force later on in the war. Infantry and armored vehicles readily prepared for the coming assault.

A city closest to the border was the first target to be under siege. Sutekhite fighter and bomber craft soared through the sky with the low rumble of their jet engines. The target was quickly in sight and a payload of numerous bombs was released in a hail of death. Indiscriminate in their attack, government and civilian buildings were destroyed alike.

Following the air strikes, the Sutekhite army penetrated the Al Umma border, beginning their short march to capture the city. Scouts had been sent out from the main force as always to report back the presence of enemy combatants. So far, the invasion was smooth sailing for Pharaoh's Legions.

"We're in position," stated a short text message to the Confederate naval forces.

The Sutekhite message came in loud and clear to pleasure of Admiral Borders who have the honor of ordering the Confederate fleet into the warzone. Without hesitation the fleet began to move, seperating into their three lines of attack. Aircraft from the carriers were the first to see action as the launched and made their may to the closest sea-side city near the projected beachhead landing.

Within minutes fires began all over the city as the bombers stuck mercylessly at infrastructure targets, plunging much of the city without power. When the actual fleet had made it into their blockade position, the mighty cannons of the battleships began to open fire on the shore. They wound continue to fire for almost an hour before the soldiers would come ashore.

General Morgan, eager to begin his new campaign rallied his troops for one final "huddle" before he would begin to launch the landing craft.

"Today men we embark on an invasion never before attempted by Confederate forces. With the assistance of the be damned African Negros of Sutekh-Te-Ankh, we will soon touch down on Al Umma soil and begin an all out war with not only their soldiers but their people. This will not be like Texarado where the citizens simply fled and hid, no I see nothing but a complete and utter resistance by everyone able to hold a riffle or throw a Grenade. But with God on our side I can ensure you we will be victorious in this endeavor and we will become to masters of these Muslims just as we are to those Negros back home."

Cheers could be heard echoing through the hulls of the ships holding the soldiers. All were ready to fight and die for the pride of the South. Then as the excitement was almost unbearable the doors of the ships opened wide and the landing craft began to ship off. Soon, very soon Confederate soldiers would be on Al Umma soil and the only way they were leaving was either with the victory flag or in a coffin.

Arise faithful ones! Arise and prepare for battle! For the day of reckoning has come and the forces of Satan are upon our doorstep! Arise fathers! Arise brothers! Arise sons! Take up your weapons and fight! For these beasts will show no mercy. They shall pour over this land like locusts upon a field. They come not to gain land or wealth. They come to kill, to rape, to pillage and destroy. They will sell our children as slaves and our wives as whores. Arise oh faithful. Fight for your souls! Arise all good muslims! In Paradise! In Madina! In Abnar! In Shandaq! In the Saharan Federation! Arise and defend your Muslim brothers. For I tell you the truth, in all of history, there has not been a holier war than this. Allahu Akbar!

It wasn't even a contest taking the first city in Al Umma. The air strikes had already disorganized the defenses, sending many a Qosh-Mahdist fanatic deserting his post. Thus the Sutekhites marched in with little resistance. Enemy soldiers that were foolish enough to stay and fight without support were either captured or slain.

The entire urban area was conquered and secured in little over a day, Sutekhite tanks rolling through the streets with infantry jogging amidst them. Graven images of the Qosh-Mahdi himself were toppled and burned, along with religious relics of Islam. Like the Qosh-Mahdist forces had done to their lands, the Sutekhites would return by a thousand fold. These people of Al Umma were little more than animals to them.

Over the town, the Sutekhite flag flew in victory, but now was not a time to rejoice just yet. Among portable radios, they caught the hypocritical leader of Al Umma beseeching members of the Muslim Brotherhood to come to his aid. The sight was frankly disgusting as he accused them of evils that his own soldiers had done in their lands. After fortifying their captive city, it would be time to move again to the next.

A report of their progress was promptly sent to their Confederate allies on an encrypted line. Following this, it was time to craft their plans for war further.

OOC: Let's rock 'n' roll!

Omar Sharif stood in his command post in the Al Umman desert, some miles outside the Sutekh-captured city. Abnarian soldiers barred the Sutekhites' way to the center of Al Umma, standing alone, at least for now. Sharif reflected on the events of the past twenty four hours, which had gone by in a whirlwind.

The Abnarians had been fortunate; they had been prepared for war, as they always were. Other members of the Brotherhood were scrounging troops from the populace, but Abnar's standing army had been ready to deploy at a moment's notice. The fleet sent to Kuvekk had turned around with the end of the conflict, but were barely on their way home when they were ordered to hold south of the Al Umman coast, as enemies were sure to be in position. Two fully loaded assault ships were prepared to offload their reinforcements into Al Umma, but the aircraft carriers and other vessels would have to do their job first. With the navy stuck for the moment, other methods of transportation had to be found. C-10 transports were fueled up and ready for takeoff, but they only held so many troops. To transport the remainder of the forces, the Abnarian government comandeered a sizeable number of private jetliners. These roared back and forth between Abnar and Al Umma constantly, providing an unbroken stream of troops and supplies. From their makeshift landing fields, the Abnarians marched towards Sutekh te-Ankh, and fortified a line to block enemy progress until allies could arrive to launch a counteroffensive. Sharif was relying on his allies to arrive in good time, as his men could not stand forever.

Back at the lines, a messenger ran up to Sharif and saluted. He was wearing the blue armband of the AAWC, the Abnarian Advanced Weapons Corps. "Sir, the Peregrine has arrived." he said. Sharif followed him silently to a Jeep, which took them about ten miles behind the frontline. In front of Sharif, illuminated by the soft blue glow of the landing strip groundlights, was the most awe-inspiring machine he had ever seen. This was the U-7, the plane he had personally demanded to be designed and produced. It carried no guns or missiles, but rather a cutting-edge jamming device, which rendered enemy radio devices of all types useless. Sharif walked up to the plane and put his hand against the landing strut, feeling the hum of the machinery at work on board. This was the weapon that would ensure Abnarian victory in this war and all to come.

OOC: Okay, if people want to join the battle, that's fine, or if they'd prefer to wait for some of my allies to show, that's cool, too.

General Morgan read the report from the Sutekhite lines with pleasure. His own landing into the nation had gone almost as flawlessly as his allies invasion march did. The beach had a few artillery positions scattered down it's sandy shore however it was nothing the Confederate war machine couldn't overcome as the landing crafts made their way to shore and first hundred of so troops made it ashore.

The Al-Umman city that was the target of the Confederates attack, suffered much the same fate as that of the first city of the Sutekhite attack. Many of the civilians were caught in the cross-fire and slain by either the Confederates or their own soldiers. These events only went to damper the morale of the Qosh-Mahdi's soldiers as they tried with all their might to defend the small coastal city.

Eventually the city fell and the Confederate flag of victory was risen over the city skyline. Marshal law was quickly declared and citizen, those unfortunate enough not to have escaped during the actual fighting, were herded like cattle into make-shift cages. "You are now officially the property of the United Confederate States of the Seceded South" was the only thing told to them of their new fate.

With the city firmly within their possession now and the beachhead completely established, with more men, tanks, and artillery flooding in through it by the hour, the Confederates positions was now concrete in the foreign land of the Muslims. The blockade would ensure that enemy ships would be kept out as well as supplies. Everything was not in place to begin planning for the march to the capital. Though it made no difference who made it there first, General Morgan took pride in the thought of beating the Sutekhite Negros to it and claiming the victory for himself.

The Khaleefah new what to do. It was his destiny, to lead the Muslim world, The Greater Ummah into victory. However the greatest victory of them all was to die in the path of God, being martyers.

He was sitting on the floor, reading the Qur'an, in his mosque. He was reciting the second surah in the Qur'an, the biggest Surah in fact. He was reciting the following:

Quote:

2:190 AND FIGHT in God's cause against those who wage war against you, but do not commit aggression-for, verily, God does not love aggressors.
2:191 And slay them wherever you may come upon them, and drive them away from wherever they drove you away - for oppression is even worse than killing. [168] And fight not against them near the Inviolable House of Worship unless they fight against you there first;  but if they fight against you, slay them: such shall be the recompense of those who deny the truth.
2:192 But if they desist-behold, God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.

This is where he got his mercy but yet he got his bravery and love to fight. He had direct orders from God, the one who revealed the Qur'an to the prophet Muhammad centuries ago. He commanded the poeople to attack those who attack the Muslims, but stop if they stop and do not committ agression nor opression, for in God's laws, opression is even worse than killing!

With this, a long man came straight to the Khaleefah and announced his presence, the Khaleefah wnated to finish his recitation, but he realized this was what was written for him.

The Man claimed:"Oh Amir, the enemies of Allah are attacking our brothers in al-Ummah, they are driving them out of their homes, and slaughtering them. They started a war and the world is looking to you to help. Paradise has yet to respond but they are obviously gearing up to fight. We need you now more than ever."

The Khaleefah stood up and embraced his destiny, he remembered what he just read, still fresh in his mind, he began to wonder how great it was to lead the best force against the enemies of Islam. He turned to the man and responded "YEs we must, I want you to call upon the Amir of Jihad and I want to discuss things with him now. AS for the war, prepare the military, I want every man capable of fighting to be at the front lines. Go! and do as you are told"

Not so long after he was visited by the Amir.

The Khaleefah spoke before he even greated him "Listen, we need to act now, and we need a strong leader to fight and lead these people into battle thats why I have chosen to---------"
He was cut off "-----------How?I cannot, I need to be here with you deciding the war and how the outcome will be.""

He knew this response, he knew that it was him and not the other guy."No, It is I who will lead them into battle, into victory with the help of Allah. That is why I need you to take care fo the people here do not make them suffer a bit."

With that he left nad he could he behind him, "but sir, please stop! please."

But the Khaleefah had a goal, a destiny to fulfill.
-----------------------------------------------------

HE had made an announcement so loud and clear that no one would mistaken it.
"In exactly 1 hour, my soldiers will begin their bombardmnet to the closest cities to Madina. All foritifications and military personall well be attacked. I urge the agressor to step back and know what he is doing, opening up another front."

As the hour has come so fast, it ended faster nad the bombing began on the cities in Sutekh-Te-Ankh nearest to the border. With that he assedmbled the soldiers, the numbers, unknown yet nad it was rumoured that Madina was preparying an all out war, including those by air.

ooc:should i open another thread in the middle east for a new front?and also can someone fill in the cities, I would liike to know what im attacking thankyou.

Azher clutched his AK-47 to his chest, the ornate remnants of his black commander’s robe flapping behind him as the jeep sped across the sand dunes dodging blackened bomb craters and dead bodies. Azher was exhausted, bewildered and utterly lost. He and his men had been running ever since the Sutekhs began to pour over the border. Running, running, running deeper into the desert away from the horrible chaos. There was nothing else to do. The Sutekhs outnumbered them probably one hundred to one. They had planes and tanks and humvees… and they had a general! No one had received any orders since the invasion had begun. The line had disintegrated and everyone had fled in all directions before the onrushing pagan tanks. Azher shuddered to think of the thousands feverish men they had left behind. He could only imagine what the Sutekhs would do to them when they found them piled on top of one another in those makeshift hospitals.

Suddenly Azher spotted a column of humvees headed toward him across the desert kicking up dust in their wake. Sutekhs! Here! Did they airdrop behind our lines! He screamed for the driver to turn around and pulled out a grimy pair of binoculars as they sped in the opposite direction. Azher peered through the binoculars trying to make out the details of the flag flying behind the lead vehicle. Then he began to laugh hysterically and screamed again for the driver to halt.

“My Lord! My Lord! Is all well with you?”
Tears of manic joy streak down his face. “Their Abnarians, Musa! Abnarians!”

The Sutekh air strike and subsequent blitzkrieg had wrought havoc on Al Samhs Eastern Line. The last remnants of the Qosh-Mahdist air force went down in glorious streaks of red as they attempted valiantly did battle with the hordes of Sutekh fighters. The Qosh-Mahdist commanders were left completely bewildered and without orders. The news that mighty Al Samh was deathly ill had been kept a closely guarded secret to help maintain morale and he had been evacuated far behind the front lines at the first sign of attack and then rushed to a Abnari medic as soon as they arrived. The vile Sutekhs were known for assassinating generals. There would be no chances taken with Al Samh.

As horrible as conditions were in the east, they were nothing compared to the horror that reigned in the much more densely populated west. The surprise Confederate invasion had obliterated the Umma's small homeguard and the Qosh-Mahdi and most of the prominent members of BANAR were forced to flee into the desert. The situation looked grim for the Umma.

OOC: We can start up the naval battle whenever you're ready, NRE, 'cuz I got troops waiting to deploy. If you want to PM me, that's fine, or we can wing it. Up to you.

The remains of the decimated Al Umman were welcomed by the Abnarian army. These were brave men, after all, and no man was more powerful than one fighting for his home. They could eat, rest, and re-supply in good time, the Abnarian line had had no trouble as of yet. Sharif was impatient, still waiting for news on the navy, as there was a mass of Confederates coming from the west. if Admiral Haziz didn't hurry, the Abnarians would be sandwiched between the Confederates and the Sutekhs. He walked determinedly to the private medical tent where Al Samh was recovering, to see if the man was conscious yet and to begin planning for the imminent clash with the Sutekhs.

The eastern villages and cities of Sutekh-Te-Ankh had been ravaged by the Madinian bombardment. The eastern guard had been organized to begin countering the threat. While not as skilled as the average Sutekhite soldier, the guard was the best Sutekh-Te-Ankh could muster in the east on such short notice. They were disciplined, and knew how to do their jobs, but they were far from being veterans.

SSM launchers returned the bombardment against the Madinian lines beyond the Sutekhite border. The retaliation had taken a couple hours to begin, but it remained no less devastating. While the guard entrenched themselves in important positions, a proper request for full fledged warriors had been telegrammed to the capital.

Over in the Al Umma front, thousands of miles on the other side of Sutekh-Te-Ankh, the Pharaoh's legions were ready for their next strike. They're scouts had confirmed the presence of an Abnari military presence marching in their direction. While the captured city had been fortified in case of such an action, generals had been busily drafting out plans.

One division consisting of 50 thousand men would move towards the north and catch the Abnari eastern flank. Another force of 30 thousand would move to the west and catch their southern flank. Past this southern division, another 90 thousand men would move farther to lay siege to the next Al Umma city. An air strike would accompany this latter force.

After the plans had been drafted out, the order was sent. Quickly the Sutekhite army began its drawn out maneuvers to attempt a surrounding flanking force to crush the Abnari positions. If all went well, they would be distracted and depleted enough for Sutekh-Te-Ankh to grab further territory.

We've already been in a state of war with the south for some time now, and you have our assurance that we are willing to open up another front for the sake of the Muslim Brotherhood's victory, and the assurance of Al-Umma's independance.

We declare that Caronicilia Gaurantees the Quash-Madi's independance, and will send forces to fight for the sake of that goal, with the blessing of the Qosh-Madi itself.'

OOC: We can wing it, if it get out of control we can discuss an outcome over a PM.

Nice map Coshvy but if you don't mind, a map key to some of the symbols would help me in reading it. For example, what's that red rectangle just under what I am presuming is my gray blob on the coastline as well as the red spray paint effect to the east of my gray blob? Also, some city locations as well as the capital would be nice.

IC:
Admiral Borders looked over the recent message from the outer line of the blockade. A outside fleet, presumed to be Abnarian had been spotted on radar heading in the direction of the Al Umman coast.

"So the allies come rolling in" he said as he looked over the message. "Private" said the Admiral to a communications officer near by.

"Sir?"

"Send word to the outer fleet to begin broadcasting our message. If they receive resistance, give them the order to fire without mercy."

"Sir, yes Sir"

Captain Wagner was the man put in charge of the outer line ships. His battleship was the first to spot the fleet on their course to the coastline. After receiving word from Admiral Borders, the instructed his communications officer to begin broadcasting on all frequencies a recorded message which was set to playback continually. The message read as followed.

Recorded Message

Unidentified fleet, you are ordered to break your current course and resume a heading outlined in the coordinates to follow this message. This is a direct order from the Confederate Navy of the United Confederate States of The Seceded South. The area you are currently heading towards is under quarantine by our forces. Any force entry into this sector of ocean will no be tolerated and will thus be seen as an act of war against our nation.

The message then went on to provide coordinates that would head any fleet safely around the Confederate blockade and well outside firing range. Though the Confederates had no reserve when it came to firing on the fleet, if ammunition could be save then it would certainly be a grateful gesture to the tax payer back home.
_____________________________________________

General Morgan, who now had his full force of well over one million men now on the shores of Al Umma, was ready to begin his march towards the capital. He had received both the report of an enemy fleet in the area was well as additional enemy forces within the borders of the nations. This did not worry him, especially given the fact that at the moment they only posed a problem to his ally and not his forces.

The General relied on practically the same tactic that he used in the defense of the Sutekhite homeland to begin his march for the capital. He split his force into two 4 hundred-thousand man strong units that included several thousand tanks and mobile artillery guns while leaving 2 hundred-thousand troops with similar numbers of tanks and artillery for the defense of their city base and beachhead.

Lieutenant General (LG)Woods would Command what the General called his "Northern Faction." They would be charged with scouring the Northern expanse of the Al Umma, protecting General Morgan's "Southern Faction's" flank from any aggression they should encounter from neighboring nations to the North. General Morgan, of course taking a southern route, taking each city that stood in his way until they finally reached the capital.

It was certainly a genius plan, at least the General believe so. Now it was simply time to see it in action and make their push forward. After a final inspection of the troops and equipment, the General hopped into his jeep and gave the sounding order to move out. Giving a final salute to the General, LG Woods followed the command and moved his forces out, to begin their trek North-easterly as General Morgan and his forces moved in a south-easterly direction. Both forces were prepared for any resistance that might encounter and all promised to welcome it with guns blazing.

The Saharan Federation

"We unfortunatley cannot spare troops to the Muslim Brotherhood's war effort at this time. While we are commited to the cuase and are excited regarding our pending membership, we are still recovering from the vast expenses of the Kuvekki war.

While we cannot offer military assistance at this time, we shall allow all muslim troops to pass through our lands. This is the best we can do at this time."

OOC: I'll wait for Madina to invade before the western theater starts, he and I are coordinating our strikes.

Sharif was more than a little agitated. Al Samh was still unconscious; his disease was apparently more grave than Sharif had guessed. As it was, he would have to hold the enemy off on his own. AWACS were in the sky, watching intently for any sign of a Sutekhite offensive. They were not waiting long. The pagan army split itself in two, obviously an effort to surround Sharif's army. However, he would not be bested. He radioed the airfields: "All Partizans are go, authorization Bravo-niner-mike-india-fiver," A full wing of bombers and their escort fighters took off and rumbled over shortly thereafter. When the heathens were beaten back into their city, they would find their defenses crippled by the air strike. Sharif allowed himself a grin at this prospect, but quickly sobered himself. There was still an enemy army inbound. He shouted to his commanders, "Fortify the flanks, now! They're moving to surround us!" Tanks rumbled off in either direction, crews cheering from the hatches. Now the Abnarian army faced its first solo test. There would be no Romans or Wadjis to aid them here, but Sharif was confident in his men, and in himself. Back on the radio, "Ospreys, stay in the sky. I need to know exactly what those bastards are up to. Spears, prepare for takeoff and strafing runs."

Sharif reviewed the chart, the figures looked good. 100 thousand men, half of them elites, and 100 tanks on either flank, ready for battle, 100 attack helicopters ready to sweep forward and into the flanks of the enemy army, and 100 fighters prepped for takeoff, not to mention the 5 bombers and 20 fighters already inbound on the pagan-held city. And Sharif had his own corps of ten thousand RAID troopers boarded and ready to fly at a moment's notice.

OOC: Too much? First war with the new system.

It was going to be decided, Another front would be opened, the one in Kuvekk. The Madinanian army were stationed in Kuvekk and they were ready, They had fortified the green triangle and wer enot awaiting furhter instructions. Jets were already patrolling hte skies and soldiers on high alert.

-------------------------------------------------------

Bombers and fighters have left Madina's air fields and were headed to the Southern border with Sutekh-Te-Ankh. The stealth bombers were to attack every area that showed the prescence of SSM launchers. The bombings were to continue until further notice.
