There's been a thread a while back about how players played nations that had lower tax rates that NS said they did. This is just something I wanted to write.

NS only measures income tax, not sales tax or property tax, or any other method of raising money. There are very few issues that offer alternate ways besides direct taxation to fund projects. For example, while, on NS, Chirondom has 100% taxation, I play it more like it had 35%.

Now, if we're going to talk how Chirondom's government gets all the money that it does, let's start thinking. Chirondom has a considerable sales tax. 8.5%. On everything. Property tax is similarly high.

Chiron Nobles outside the government have to pay an additional tax on their noble titles. The government holds regular lotteries. Tarriffs are in place. Chiron Nobles who commit crimes have extremely high bail set. Foreign loans are also taken out

Now look at that. NS is an approximation. You don't have to follow it to the letter.

Yeah... next time necro the old thread. Because I don't know WTF you're babbling about.

Either you're saying you do exactly what everyone else on this forum has been doing - taking NS as an over exaggerated and unrealistic guideline for your nation and RPing your nation as something a lot more realistic by adding a fictional layer of complexity while politely not forcing your Player Made Rules down our throats - or you're trying to do something new and different. And I hate and fear what's new and different.

So... ditto what Scy said. Possibly ditto what Quaon said. NS is deliberately over exaggerated and unrealistic (and simple) in order to be funny. If you want to explain that away by adding a fictional layer of complexity to rationalise your nation... good for you. If you want to ignore the letter of NS and play to the spirit of your nation... good for you. Because that's what we've all been doing since we started RPing. (And we... sorry "they" started RPing long before newbs like me came along and brought up this new fangled talk of having our own forum.)
