Influential. You RP as Great Russia more than Paradise RPs as Paradise. But whatever. But yeah. I spend mroe time in Europe so my list is biased towards that region, despite my efforts.

For the ones with a slash between them, its either or, but not both. If you're including Kas, don't include ED, and so on.

I am not influential with Great Russia. Great Russia is held together by the sheer force of will of a madman staving off a war with Draxis and a massive communist rebellion.

Actually, Novi, it ISN'T biased in favor of my allies, or I would have included a different set of nations. Nor is it based on CP count (I dont pay attention to it myself). My list was based on what I have seen since I have been here.

Great Russia hardly does anything outside it's own borders. Same with NE. Caronicilla has more world influence than Hispania. Chirondom has more influence than Great Russia. And ED, while he does have a great deal of influence, is not interchangable with the Kasnyian Empire.

Even when you say it's just influence, Paradise makes that list. He may not RP very much, but his name alonbe controls the near entirety of the middle east.

My list was based off combination military power/influence/diplomacy.

EDIT-

..Tweaked my list. Changed one position.

This is an interesting discussion. Anyone else wanna post their lists?

Guys, this wasn't meant to be any definitive list...go ahead and post your own lists...

So I did, and am criticized. I even mentioned it was also biased, because I take a euro-centric veiw of things on this forum.

However, in terms of actual current influence, not potential influence, and the like. Yes, Paradise is huge. Yes, so is Al-Araam. But I've been here since December, and I've never seen an IC post of Paradise's, and I've seen few posts by Al-Araam. They may have power/influence, but they are isolated, and as such cannot be described as affecting the political climate of our fictional world.

Great Russia is part of my eurocentric view. There is an ongoing war, and it affects me more than, say Kasnyia. Again, I even said it was a throwaway name, just a name I recognized. It does not deserve to be on the list.

In terms of influence, Eleytheria-Duo is paramount to Hispania, and Kasnyia to Caronicilia. Kasnyia is more influential than Eleytheria-Duo, and Caronicilia is more influential than myself. But we hold the same position, co-founders of suddenly powerful alliances. That is why they are interchangable. Other than JAUST/GTO, neither ED nor I have enough influence to exist on this list, and as a result, I do not feel either of us should be included.

No player can make this list unbiased and accurate. We can present lists based on our nation's politics and the like, but a completely accurate list is not going to come from a single player, if at all.

Mark Braun walked down a busy Gervensburg street, pacing slowly along with a hand in his pocket. Suddenly he saw a news stand, with a magazine that caught his eye. He looked at the cover- the magazine, titled "The Stenly Press," was featuring an article counting down the top ten world leaders. Eagerly, he approached the cashier.

"How much for that magazine?" He inquired softly.

"The Stenly Press? Five Cinyars." The cashier answered tersely as he read a magazine of his own behind the counter.

Mark took the Cinyars from his wallet and put them on the counter. He then grabbed a magazine, and walked away. As soon as he purchased the magazine, he turned into a corner coffee shop, and opened up to the cover story.

The Stenly Press Investigates: Counting down the top 10 World Leaders.

We've gone through much preparation for our annual article counting down the top 10 world leaders. This year's seen a fascinating mix of dictators, presidents, and kings, creating an interesting mix of foreign policies. The world is certainly different than it was just one year ago- since then the rise of several international organizations has occurred, and several international crises as well. The world leaders that have orchestrated this all have either handled themselves appropriately, leading to peaceful solutions, or they've gone the belligerent route and let the situations explode. They've either gone through situations quietly, silently influencing world politics, or they've been active, falsifying their importance to a point where they become a world concern.

How does a leader go about making our list? Our list takes into account that 'silent influence so many major leaders have exerted in the recent past, as well as more vocal nations. It does not count down the most powerful men- only the ones who've had the most sway on international politics. These can be weak leaders who've mishandled their nations, or it can be leaders who bluffed their way into the world scene. It can be leaders who built their nation up, or took their nation and smashed it into the ground. Either way, it is hardly debatable that these world leaders have been of extreme importance in world politics, and there is little doubt that they will proceed to influence things over the course of their political career.

Our list goes in a top ten fashion. It begins at ten with the less influential of our leaders, and ends at one with our most important leaders. There has also been a section reserved for other notable world leaders, who did not make the list. And so without further ado, here are this year’s top 10 national leaders!

#10- Damien Carrey, President of the Republic of Great New France

The Republic of Great New France has often been a nation in the world spotlight. Various mishaps in international politics have generally caught the Republic a great deal of flak from other world leaders. Recent instability in the country hasn’t halted this, and even with the fall of Joseph Robespierre, the Republic continues to catch eyes of foreign nations as well as words of protest as they often are the subject of international problems. Sometimes justified and sometimes unfairly, the nation has made as many enemies as it has friends. Recent nuclear tests have showed that Damien Carrey will likely continue this trend, and continue pushing Great New France into the limelight of the world.

#9- Augusto Anzanar, Secretary-General of the Free state of Hispania

Hispania may seem like an insignificant nation. Recently under the coat of isolation, semi-socialist, and Devoutly Catholic, Hispania seems as though it would have no place on this list. But despite this, Augusto Anzanar has shown the Hispania is actually a force in this world, and a very real one at that. Under his rule, Hispania has become a founding member of the Gervensburg Treaty Organization, and holds a seat on the Security Council. Under his rule, Hispania became the nation that has put more eggs into the Barcelona Accords than any other nation. Under his rule, Hispania has begun to throw its weight around; as it goes to war in Sutekh and sends forces to Asia to help its allies combat the Assassin/ Dynastian alliance. While Hispania’s Secretary-General Anzanar may not be amongst the highest of world leaders, he has been demonstrating a simple fact to the world: Hispania is on the rise.

#8- Jiran Hjork, President of Yshurak, The Communist Republic

Being a ruthless communist dictator isn’t difficult. Especially when you head the granddaddy of world communist nations, the Communist Republic of Yshurak. Despite this, President Jiran Hjork has in the past year made his nation a real standout in world affairs. He heads a powerful communist Yshurak in Northeastern Europe, and has been one of the “less quite” rulers the nation has had in sometime. With the recent invasion of Assassin territory in Northern Europe, President Hjork has caught the eyes- and hatred- of many world leaders, almost ensuring future conflict. Because of his rule, the world’s eyes will be watching Yshurak.

#7- Catherine Nerdinskaya, President of the Republic of Elytheria-Duo

The small American state of Elytheria-Duo seems unremarkable at first. In the Canadian wilderness, it seems hard for any world leader to easily influence world politics. For Elytheria-Duo, however, this has been made possible. As a founding member of the JAUST organization, Elytheria has quickly risen to prominence and prestige. Playing a significant role in bringing down the Holy League itself, a once appeared unstoppable organization, there is no easy way to disguise the influence of Elytheria. Despite its dropping influence with the seemingly inevitable collapse of JAUST, Elytheira-Duo maintains that it has friends in high places, and has used its diplomatic prowess to influence world affairs on multiple occasions.

#6- Baldur III, Kaiser of the Caronicilian Reich

Ever since the birth of Pan-Guraisim in the era of Kaiser Driscol, Caronicilia has become a nation watched by many in the international community. Initially gaining negative attention from many nations, Caronicilia has grown into a new nation, founding such international organizations as the Gervensburg Treaty Organization. Being head of the entire Gurai world, the position of Caronicilian Kaiser has always recently become one of prestige, and has gained a lot of attentionm- both negative and positive. Although he has only recently come to prominence, Baldur III has quickly found himself as the head of a newly influential nation, and has been gaining a reputation in the international community comparable to many of his fellow leaders on this very list.

#5- Kristophe Xavier I, Emperor of Kasnyia

Being head of the world’s only global state is difficult work. Despite this, Kristophe Xavier I of Kasnyia has pulled the task off, guiding his empire into the world light on a very high note. He has been playing a very diplomatic approach at bringing his world empire to the table of world politics in a seat very near the front. He is arguably the most influential man of Germanic Descent in the world- rather impressive considering the billions of Germanic people whom exist. There is no use denying the influence of Kasnyia, and its membership in the JAUST High Council works to further distinguish this. Possessing a multitude of friends, and a signature on the Barcelona Accords, Kasnyia under Kristophe Xavier has grown into a state of massed influence, finding leadership positions almost everywhere it goes.

#4- Khaless Conn, Sovereign of the NeoDynasty

The NeoDynasty is one of the world’s most frightening nations. Demonstrating the warrior culture of Asia, they’ve become a nation esteemed for its ability to make war, and has put that to use in recent times. Entering the war against Velorya as an Assassin ally, the NeoDynasty demonstrated its ability to make other nations heed to its will as it attempts still to gain even more territory from the Veloryans. His influence is not infinite, however. His recent attempts to exert his will over then-head-of-state Driscol I of Caronicilia ended in not only a failure, but a declaration of war as well. Regardless, Khaless Conn has held a significant post, and will likely continue on his path for some time.

#3- Praetor Hicks, Praetor of the Assassin Nation

It is undoubted by a soul on earth that the Assassins are as warlike a people as anybody. They have a large military and have demonstrated willingness- in fact preference- to use it. Their belligerence has paid off, earning the Praetor of the Assassins an almost eternal spot on our world influence list. Time and time again, The Assassins have become involved in major conflicts- against Yshurak, against Velorya- all have been legitimate wars, with questionable causes. The Assassins have used their seat on the JAUST High Council to actively pursue friends in its conquests, and has recruited the aid of several allies. They’ve become an influential nation, and a force to be reckoned with.

#2- Valerian I Augustinus, Emperor of Velorya

Velorya seems at first to be a declining empire. Living in the shadows of its former glory, it is now locked in a war against the Assassins and Dynastians, which it looked as though it had lost just months ago- but upon further examination, the Veloryans are holding tightly to their influence in world affairs. As a super power and the most powerful nation in Asia, Velorya has made many friends and enemies. As it combats to keep a hold of its northern empire, it has found many problems in its shrinking prestige- as well as many allies in Northern Asia. Velorya will undoubtedly be a spot of future interest, and is undoubtedly a spot where world eyes currently rest.

#1- Caliph Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, of the Caliphate of Paradise

Ask any world leader what their greatest concern is, and chances are they’ll tell you the military powerhouse that is the Caliphate of Paradise. As the most powerful Islamic nation in the world, it has used a tone of silent influence to effectively control the entirety of the Middle East and effectively shield the entire region from foreign influence. While they’ve been quite lately publicly, it should not be mistaken as giving up that seat- the Caliphate remains the most powerful nation on earth, and with a population of over nine billion this is perhaps rightfully so. The nation continues to grow, and has continued to exert its influence over such nations as Al Araam- there are even times when Paradise is called “The Master of the Middle East.” This power has made the Caliph of Paradise the most powerful man on earth, as well as the most influential.

Well, a major Caronicilian newspaper recently announced those top ten world leaders, and lo and behold, we found ourselves on the list. Of course, it comes of no surprise that the Caronicilians are fond of the Hispanic people, but just as well. However, despite their attempt to make nice, one need only look at the paper's obvious misspelling of Augusto Aznar's name, they spelled it "Anzanar", to show that, despite political unity between Caronicilia and Hispania, the populace doesn't give a damn. So, if the population doesn't give a damn, I ask, why are we even involved.... .... ....

The Stenly Press

Here at the Stenly press we always take pride in delivering accurate news. Recently, it has been broought to our attention that in our "10 most influential leaders" list, Secretary-General of Hispania Augusto Aznar's name was inaccuratley spelled. We would like to formally apologize to any readers who went through the day thinking that the Secretary-General's last name was "Anzanar," and will ensure in the future that our editors take a closer look at the spellings of influential world leaders' names.

You are right. The problem is that I do not have the time to roleplay anymore.

If anyone is interested in roleplaying the Caliphate, just PM me.

Paradise and Al Araam are not isolated. Simply put, a large number of Middle Eastern nations are linked by ancient ties and alliances. Romania, Al Araam, and Paradise would challenge any nation here and probably any alliance.
