General Von Ronsenburg was growing bored of this conflict. Their enemies were fools for holding on to their positions...they had no chance to win this war, and yet they wanted a last stand. In the Kasnyian General's mind there was a very vivid line between bravery and foolhardiness...and this was the later.

Perhaps I shall put them out of their misery, he thought. He nodded to himself. It was time to make the final kill. He turned to his aide.

"Lieutenant, call Guranburg. I am requesting assistance from the MJOLNIR."

The aide's eyes went wide.

"Yes, General."

It would be a few hours before his action was approved. In the meantime, they would continued the campaign. He ordered for a third wave of paratroopers to be dropped between the miniscule defenders near Sol and the hardened line near Wager Bay. Classic pincer.

To Pacifica

Civilians from the free zones were being evacuated by the droves to the coast before the Socialists could blockade the last route to Pacifica. Old cargo ships were loaded with people rather than crates. The situation was so desperate they were crammed in so tight they could barely move.

Others chose to flee for the hills, and hope they would not become trapped between the advancing lines. But ultimately the Federal forces were only delaying the inevitable. On the verge of utter collapse, and near surrender, they only continued to fight to give civilians a chance to leave.

The IKS Elefant, the Imperial superbattleship that patrolled the Hudson Bay, gave all the assistance it could to the Eleytherian Federal Government by providing cover fire to any advancing enemy forces from taking the last few ports under Federal control, also ensuring that no enemy warship came within range of the civillian convoys heading for Pacifica's coastline. The rest of the Hudson Bay Fleet readied a blockade of the Federal coastline to ensure civillian safety and to assist the Elefant in its coastal defense. The rest of the ships conducted sweeps of the bay for enemy submarine activity.

No Eleytherian refugee would be killed by the enemy on their watch.

Snow Peninsula
The long road home

Orders had come to Colonel General Miloradovich clearly, get the hell out of Eleytheria-Duo. Though the Russians had achieve a brilliant victory against the advancing socialists, it was but one victory in a war that was far from over and for a side that was almost all but beaten. Thus Russian command had one of the hardest choices it had during the entire campaign, and that was to leave. They left not only because they felt the Federalists were losing badly but more so because funds for the campaign were being frozen.

Due to the end of the Georgian war and the exposure of the National Socialist Party back home and their part in the misappropriation of military funds, the government had to freeze the Eleytherian front as well. This was not because the NSP had actually embezzled funds but because they had to make it look like they did. However, Russia was not without heart. They did not wish to leave helpless Eleytherians with no other choice but to submit to the socialist scourge.

Thus a brave and massive evacuation attempt was put into motion. 30 MV-33's (V-22 Ospreys) where flown in. Each with a capacity to hold 32 people standing, as well as several troop helicopters were flown in to e-vac as many citizens as possible. To spread the word, the Russians sent messages through every Federalist secure channel they new of and simply sat and awaited. With troops still on the ground, they could hold their positions for a good while but had a time table of only a couple of hours before they packed up and lifted off. They hoped that the Federalist government would get the message and take the offer if they had no other way to leave but was prepared to take only those who reached them within their time frame.

(OOC: E-D, I know I haven't talk you about this so, I'll just leave it up to you to RP if anyone got to the e-vac and left with the Russians. Consider this to be the last of Russia's involvement here.)

The Snow Peninsula
Evacuation Notice

Orders were already given to civilians to flee, many did so. A few Government officials did, indeed, arrive at the LZ. Namely Senators. When one of the Russian soldiers asked where the rest of the officials were, Senator Garry only replied "Awaiting their fate."

The Russians' face went grim, the thought of the High Leadership still in the hot zone was not something that was expected or called for. What the hell were they thinking?

Among other important Eleytherians were the typical women with their children, the most cherished of the society. as well as a few prominent Avionics engineers that helped design the FS-1.

When the transports were full, the Russians seemed to have little choice but to lift off, despite leaving behind thousands of men, women and children still trying to leave the country.

Many began to turn south, where the Kasnyians were still guarding the waterways, and merchant ships were ferrying passengers to Pacifica. The door for evacuation was closing, with the Russians gone, the socialists would undoubtedly launch another -- certainly more successful -- attack on the Snow peninsula within a matter of days...

Republic Headquarters, Kugaaruk City
And end to the conflict

The Federalist troops were demoralized, the Russians were gone, Taloyok was under siege, the Socialists had pushed themselves all the way to the very doors of the Capital region-- and they weren't alone...

When reports reached the desk of Republic Headquarters, the situation was as bleak as anyone could have ever imagined. The cargo ships that once ferried civilians from Eleytheria to Pacifica were now within range of Socialist Kirov Missile Cruisers from the other side of the channel.

Furthermore, with some of the largest, most densely populated cities in the country under direct threat from weapons of horrific destructive capabilities, the risk of continuing the war for merely delaying the inevitable was no longer an option, as it would soon become apparent the lives lost would be greatly higher than the lives saved from evacuation.

Quietly, the members of the Federal Government of Eleytheria-Duo sat around a table in the Conference room. It was clear where the discussion was headed. The proposition of surrender was imminent...

"Where is Edarmi?" asked Catherine, as they went through a list of major military personnel and assets.

"On his way to Europe, he is delivering to our allies in Çerdoné the blueprints of the FS-4 and LRBM-2500, as you requested," replied an aide.

"And what of Nukilikatka, Heraclitus, and Tornuaq?"

"Aliyana went with Edarmi, and will be relocating to Pacifica as soon as she is through with her duties there. Willow is already in Pacifica, rallying the troops that escaped to our allies borders together. As for Varuka, he is somewhere in Western Eleytheria, likely laying low until the time is right to prepare a resistance movement."

She nodded. "Very well. Kevin?"

"Yes, Catherine?"

"I need you to leave Kugaaruk, head for the harbor and take a small fishing boat to Pacifica, I am sure you won't have too hard a time hitching a ride to Europe from there."

"W...what? You don't honestly expect me to leave, do you?"

"I am afraid this time it is not for you to decide, Kevin. When the mainland falls, what is left of the Federation will need a leader to -- God willing -- return it to its rightful place in the world.

That leader isn't going to be me, Kevin. Its going to be you. Those who succeed you, and they that succeed them. Its time for me to do the right thing and see to it that what I, and those before me, tried so hard to build, will not die in vain."

Kevin blinked rapidly as he heard such words coming from the mouth of the woman that had led this country through thick and thin, prosperity and desolation, hope and doubt -- A woman he called his friend. He nodded in respect. "W-When do I...I leave?"

"Now," she replied.

With a gulp, Kevin arose from his chair. He nodded one last time at the others before taking his leave, hoping in his heart and mind this would not be the last time in his life that he sets foot inside the hallowed halls of Republic Headquarters...

"I think its time we send a message to the Socialists..." Catherine quietly uttered...

--- Transmission ---
Subject: Negotiations of Surrender
To: Socialist Forces - Kasnyian Forces
From: Eleytherian Command

When one fights to preserve their homeland, they would rather fight to the end, to die, than to surrender it, if only to preserve what is left of their honor. But there are others that our Government must consider first before ourselves and what it is that we desire.

We will negotiate the terms of our surrender, our only demand is that these meetings be held in Republic Headquarters in Kugaaruk City itself. Our forces will be ordered to stand down and drop their weapons for the duration of the conference.

Response to Transmission

You will open all gates to the city and you will allow all socialist and Kasnyian forces inside without any further question. Failure to comply and there will be no surrender, merely annilation of your people and forces. Much like your impending surrender, the terms are non-negotiable.

Signed,

Major General Wilmar Reinhold,
Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Military Republic

--------------

Quietly but quickly, the MJOLNIR satellite was placed over the city of Kugaruuk, charged and ready to strike quickly in case of any mischief of the part of the fallen government.

The massive gates of Kugaaruk opened, comprised of massive sliding steel-concrete reinforced gates as well as a frontal steel portcullis. So strong were they constructed that they were built to withstand a ramming tank at full speed. Some questioned why the gates were being opened at all when the walls were over eighty feet high, and thick enough to drive an Abrams on.

The entire City was a fortress, a citadel within a citadel. Four asymmetrical concrete, steel and stone walls surrounded different portions the city, dividing it into central, inner, outer, and border. Furthermore, four more walls connected to the inner rings, further dividing each quadrants, save for central, into Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western districts.

Despite the imposing stronghold that Kugaaruk was, a full scale siege from the air, ground and-- when the Socialist ships arrived in the bay, the sea, it would be reduced to merely one more obstacle in the way of victory for the reds, regardless if it would cost the Communists untold casualties...

As the Kasnyians and Socialists marched in, there was not a citizen in sight. No children crying, no people at work, the streets were seemingly abandoned-- Empty. It was an eerie feeling to be walking down the modern cobbled streets along beautiful park walks, yet not see a single soul around to witness them.

The Socialists, as well as the Kasnyians, sensed deception in the air. Where were the guards? The soldiers that were to *lay down* their weapons? Besides a few standing here and there, most were simply nowhere to be found. Little did they know most had fled while they still had time, under direct orders from the Republic.

While the Kasnyians and Socialists began to detain the few who remained and secure the City, block by block, the delegation arrived at Republic Headquarters, which, for the moment, still flew the Federal Tricolors...

The Kasnyian and Socialist delegates walked through the giant double doors of Republic Headquarters. They gazed around them in awe, their first look at Republic Headquarters from the inside.

It was an amazing sight, the marble floors, the polished stone columns, two ascending staircases, a massive glass chandelier overhead and a large Eleytherian flag draped on the wall. Early in the countries history, most of the building would have been opened to the public, but after the first civil war, security precautions prevented everybody but Government officials from entering.

The delegates ascended the stairs, a myriad of hallways, corridors, and rooms came into their view, but one in particular stood out; CONFERENCE.

As they enter the room under low light, a large oaken table lay before them, with several important Eleytherian political figures seated around it.

"Please, come in," a womans voice at the far end said to them.

They walked further into the room, when the voice could be heard again; "We would not want to delay your deaths!"

With a swift movement, the female figure in the back of the room lit up, as bullets hurled from a 45 caliber handgun and into the chest of the Socialist, those around the table followed her suit, also firing at the Kasnyians and Socialists. The unfortunate bastards tried to return fire, but they could barely unholster their weapons before being dropped to the floor in a pool of blood.

Finally, there was silence. One of those in the room turned up the lights, "They're dead" he said.

"Good," Catherine replied, "The areas of the Cities where our explosives are planted, are they evacuated?"

"Yes, Madam President."

"Then detonate them, and barricade the building. If we are to die, then let us die with the honor, courage and respect that our people demanded from us."

"Here," one of them said, throwing a Kevlar vest and AK-107 the Presidents way, "Your gonna need this..."
____________________________________________________________
... Meanwhile ...

Outside, the Socialists and their Kasnyian allies had no idea that the streets in which they walked were wired with explosives-- Hidden in the storm drains and in the ceiling corners of support pillars.

From within Republic Headquarters, those that barricaded themselves in, pushed the button...

Explosions rocked the City as entire sidewalks disintegrated, hurling several ton concrete blocks towards the occupiers, support pillars shattered, crashing structures down upon men and machine without prejudice.

The Federalists were enjoying their last laugh against their bitter enemies, drawing their blood in the same fashion they drew theirs, through deceit and betrayal. Gunfire rang out from Republic headquarters, striking down anybody still caught in the open.

The view outside the structure, however, was bleak; Those that had locked Republic Headquarters down, were outnumbered nearly fifteen to one; And the Socialists were already storming towards the double doors, ramming it with a large metal rod and slowly chipping its locks away, despite being under heavy fire.

Inside, Shadow Guard, Government Officials that decided to stay behind and fight, as well as the President, Catherine, all readied their weapons and took up positions for the final showdown. The battle to secure Eleytheria-Duo was about to come to a violent end, but the war for total control, was far from over...

General Ronsenburg was in his tent near Arivat, keeping a close eye on the Pacifica border incase some of his more....misguided....fellow Kasnyians attempted anything foolish, when the radio came to life.

"It's an ambush! They-" Was all he was able to hear before the radio was cut silent.

"Smart move," Ronsenburg muttered to himself with a wry smile before once again becoming serious and addressed his field staff, "It looks like our dear comrades in Kugaruuk decided to discard any semblence of honor. They have just killed our team over there. I want you to teach them what happens to those who disrespect the rules of war."

The staff didn't ven bother to nod, instead immediately giving orders and taking action. The unspoken order had been given to shoot any member of the now-former government, solider or politician, and to execute any civillians who even attempted to resist.

As his staff went to work, Ronsenburg made another call.

"This is Ronsenburg. Fire when ready."

Such a shame too....I was willing to give them some leniency....he thought to himself conversationally.

-----------------------------------

At once, whomever was left that wasn't a VIP of the former government, was brutally murdered, as Kugaruuk and everything else was overrun. There was no fanfare, or if there was, no one ever heard about it, as MJOLNIR had fired minutes aftert he order was given, wiping out all electionics in Eastern Eleytheria.
