COMBATANTS: Federal Republic of Eleytheria-Duo: 437 Militia (Routing) Socialist Separatists of Eleytheria-Duo: 11,335 Mercenaries (Victorious) OOC: All right, for quite a while I mentioned that Asian Eleytheria would be the site for a tremendous battle between Federal Forces and the Socialist remnants of Andrey Puzankov, well ... Its about to become a reality, but this battle will easily spill over into my mainland back in N. America, hence why I have this in 'Interregional'. I hope you enjoy the posts. IC: It was a rainy and wet night on the shores of Asian Eleytheria ... a storm with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour rattled windows and broke off tree branches. On this night a certain man would use the cover of this very storm to infiltrate the isolated coasts of a once quiet colony. A ship carrying one hundred men and a few tons of supplies landed on the beaches, undetected by the Eleytherian guards in the Colony, as they stepped off, one of the men pulled out a cigarette and lit it, only for it to be snuffed out by the strong winds and heavy rain. "Bah!" he shouted, throwing the soggy cigarette into the ocean. "Lets go, move it! Get this shit off the boat!" he shouted again. The men quickly grabbed hold of any boxes within reach and carried them ashore. Several hours later they managed to unload the small vessel and shove it off to sea, where a small charge on the hull would send her to the bottom, lost to them forever, but out of view from the Guards. "Sir, I scouted the area to the Southeast, there appears to be a small cave there, it will be difficult getting in and out, but the cavernous space inside is quite large," one of the Soldiers said to Andrey, who was still struggling to keep his senses about him in the increasingly violent storm. "Define big, soldier." He replied. "Quite large, Sir," the man said with confidence, "It should hold all of our supplies, we ourselves could set up camp in the thick brush around it" "Excellent, instruct the others to make haste, then. I will look for the nearest road system, no need to come looking for me, I know my way back," said Andrey. "Yes, sir," the Soldier said in compliance. Andrey walked off into the darkness for several hours, the storm increasingly intensified to hurricane-like winds, but soon he trotted his way back through the slush, mud, and pasty sand. The group made camp for the night near a cave in Southwestern Asian Eleytheria, during the night, Andrey had dreams of his wife, whom was lost to him during the first Red Revolution, he had an uncomfortable, and restless sleep... -- Twenty-four hours later -- The one hundred men had awaken to the sound of a calm morning, a smooth breeze and gentle warm glow from the sun glided down on their tents. Andrey climbed out of his tent to find a soaked ground and downed palm stocks everywhere, but luckily, none of the tents were dismantled or crushed from the storm. Him and his men moved to the edge of the brush and observed their surroundings. There was little to see, except uprooted vegetation and shifted sands, but the skies to the East were a spectacular sight, as the storm clouds that blew overhead were still massive in the far distance, casting a dark shadow across the land. "Come, we have work to do," Andrey forcefully said at his men, "There will be another small ship arriving in the same area we landed, the supplies they carry are critical to our efforts here." The group walked for a few miles to the coast, only to find nothing in sight, they all sat down and waited ... several hours passed before anything of interest transpired, some sea creatures were spotted jumping out of the ocean here and there, but nothing fantastic. Finally, a small boat appeared on the horizon. Andrey immediately knew who was aboard the ship, and was eager to receive the supplies from him. The small trawler come ashore to offload its precious cargo, a man came from beneath the deck and approached Andrey Puzankov. The closer the man approached, the larger Andrey's grin had become, the irony of this moment was delicious, so sweet and rich it was bitter. "Hello, Andrey," the man had said, "I have your gifts inside the cabin, be careful ... she's a bit 'unstable', heh." *Tsk tsk tsk* "David Pyrril Vandergrist, it is great to have you here! I take it when the Federal Republic grew bored with you as JAUST Representative that you've seen just how traitorous they can be, yes?" Andrey said with a smile. "Make no mistake Andrey, I am helping you to get revenge on Michael, Catherine, and most of all that bitch of a Willow Heraclitus. Can you help me do that, Andrey?" "Indeed I can, stick with me and you shall go far..." "Excellent, I am sure we will get along fine, Andrey. Your refined, weapons grade uranium is inside the ship. As I said, handle her carefully..." --- To be continued --- |

Andrey's men carried a large sealed box down from the boats ramp, a sticker on the side gave its contents away as radioactive, meanwhile, Puzankov and Vandergrist were discussing latest Eleytherian troop movements. What Vandergrist had to say, was music to Puzankov's ears... "Almost all of the Eleytherian Forces have been withdrawn from Asian Eleytheria back to the Mainland for security of the rail line they are building, only 300 frontier guard remain stationed here, the rest of security is up to local police." Mr. Vandergrist had said, if this were the case, the rest of Andrey's forces, once they had arrived, would easily be able to overpower the troops. Nevertheless, they would need to act swiftly, and Cardinal Valentin would make their jobs all the easier with the support he could, and would, provide them. Any support coming from Asia would greatly strengthen his position back in the Middle East. Within a matter of hours, another group of Andrey's soldiers would arrive, it would be then that plans would be set in motion for the final attack on Derby City, the sitting place for any leadership of the Colony, currently headed by Territorial Governor Hans von Bossenmaier. "Andrey, there is more raw Uranium buried on a small island just off the coast. Its case should last for now, but within a few months it will be lost to us for good. Once you seize power, we should work to retrieve it immediately," Vandergrist said to Puzankov. "Oh, I shall, Vandergrist. I have a debt to repay anyhow, and I think a little Uranium shall do fine," Andrey said with a smile, "lets go, we set up camp a few miles inland." -- Back in Kugaaruk City -- Michael had been extremely busy with possible leads on whom was striking out at JAUST, however none of the leads made any sense. He had read every report from a possible mass serial killer with explosives knowledge to something as simple as a farmer getting angry about a railroad cutting through his land. Then word had reached him of a massive storm that battered the Asian Eleytherian coast, damage reports were already estimated at 4,000,000 Phi's. He decided to take a trip to Derby City to inspect the damage himself. Besides, it would be a good time to keep in touch with his good friend, Hans von Bossenmaier, whom is also the Governor of Asian Eleytheria. OOC: Kas, RP them missiles being readied for launch (Don't fire them yet!) |

At the Desert Palace, the Cardinal was given word that Andrey was going to strike again. He smiled. Cardinal Valentin- Markos, have the missiles readied please. Markos Dendil- Yes, Gloriousness. An hour later, eight IRBMs equipped with fuel-air warheads where readied in a circular configuration on a series of launch rails. The Cardinal kept one hand on the launch controls and the other on a handset, awaiting Andrey's call. OOC- Give him targets and the green for go when you call. They go boom. ^_^ |

When President Stolarski arrived in Derby City, he was quickly greeted by cheering citizens who were reassured that the mainland does, indeed, still care for their colonies. He was also greeted by a long time friend of his, Governor Hans von (Yürich) Bossenmaier, a skilled administrator and even better military commander. For over five years, Asian Eleytheria had flourished under his Governance. As Michael looked around, he was bearing witness to the damage that the storm had done to the city, and although it was bad, it was not as severe as he had pictured in his mind. "Michael, my old friend..." Hans said cheerfully to his old friend, extending his hand. "Hans! 'tis good to see you again," Michael replied, shaking his hand and then hugging him. "How have things been back in the mainland?" Hans inquired, curious about the happenings in JAUST. "Not well, I regret to inform. We suspect a massive terrorist organization to be behind the attacks on a Regional Headquarters and the Iron Bison rail lines. The emergency JAUST session goes much better than we had anticipated, it appears we have caught the attention of the Assassins, and they might be willing to help us," Michael replied to Hans. "I see ... I wish I could be there for the action," Hans said with a slight grin. Michael merely looked over at Hans and replied "No you don't..." Hans returned the look; "Yeah, your right..." The two laughed heartily at this, "Come, my friend. We have much to do," Hans said to Michael, still carrying his smile. -- West Asian Eleytheria -- One hour later... Andrey paced wildly up and down the rocky coast, impatient for the rest of his troops to land. Then suddenly one of the soldiers shouted "Sir, I see the ships!" to Andrey's delight. Sure enough, a slight glare on the horizon gave away the vessels approaching. With most of the Asian Eleytherian Population still rebuilding from the damage, it would be unlikely that the vessels would draw much attention. For all they could know it may simply be a supply fleet, no one would expect an attack, not here, not now... Closer and closer, the troop ships drew very near to the shore. When they finally came into position, hundreds of men began to disembark from their transports. The main attack force was here, four-thousand men. And another ten-thousand followed behind them. These soldiers came from every corner of the planet, everything from petty Mercenaries out for money to Villagers out for glory. Andrey's hard work in the Middle-East had finally paid off, working with the Cardinal had brought him far, he would not fail, not after he came so far. "Back to the camp!" he shouted. Meanwhile, Vandergrist followed beside Puzankov, carrying a map of Asian Eleytheria. "You know, Vandergrist," Andrey began, "I was thinking, you have had experience as a JAUST Delegate, yes?" "Indeed, until that whore, Willow Heraclitus, 'relieved' me of my duties. Why do you ask, Andrey?" "Well, knowing that you have experience in Diplomacy, how would you like to be my Political Officer?" "Sure, not like I have anywhere else to go after this little stunt I pulled. I am going to get paid for this, yes?" "Of course you are, you idiot." After arriving at the camp, the officers gathered around a small makeshift table and Vandergrist rolled the map across its splintered surface. On the large piece of parchment lay a map of the Colony. Andrey quickly pointed out three objects of interest, the Barracks, the Airfield, and the Police Headquarters. Three targets that must be captured or destroyed in order to successfully ensure control over the Colony. "Nakhev, the Eleytherian Garrison is short on men and scouts confirm that the Airfield is virtually abandoned, yes?" Andrey inquired. "That is correct, Sir. We spotted a single MiG-29 sitting in an open hangar. We believe it to be a reconnaissance vehicle that is being used to keep an eye on the Chiron border" replied the Colonel. "Good, we'll have the Cardinal strike the barracks, we'll take the Airfield intact to prevent destruction of that MiG. Perhaps we can outfit it with whatever weapons remain behind," Andrey said, scratching his chin as he viewed the map. Vandergrist pointed his finger to a particular section of the map and said; "Andrey, you may wish to strike here. During the Eleythro-Chiron war, the Federal Government shipped large quantities of reserve supplies to a small underground bunker in this area. Amongst this cache of supplies is much needed firearms and ammunition and several tons of nonperishable food." "What kind of weapons, David?" Andrey asked in curiosity at the mans statement. "AK-107's, P14-45 sidearms and possibly a few boxes of grenades and RPG-29's." Vandergrist stated bluntly. "Good, good..." Andrey replied with a smile, "We will use their own weapons against them. Besides, anything better than AK-47's and Revolvers that we currently possess will greatly increase the odds of our success." Andrey then picked several red pins out of his pocket and stuck them into portions of the map. His intelligence officer was writing on his notepad as Andrey continued to pin targets and explain his battle plan. "Well, then, officer," Andrey finally said, "Do you have the coordinates for me?" The Intelligence officer merely nodded and handed Andrey the notepad. After flipping through and reviewing, he quickly looked over at his communications officer, "Hey, you! Set up your link with the Cardinal," he said in a rough and arrogant tone, "I've a call to make..." he mumbled to himself, reaching for his phone. "Yes, yes. I need you to relay a message to the Cardinal." -- The Middle East -- The Cardinals voice could soon be heard through Puzankov's phone; "What is it, Andrey?" "Greenlight..." Andrey simply replied before hanging up. Cardinal Valentin immediately knew what this meant. As expected, coordinates came through on the Cardinals large screens, giving precise targets to strike. It also contained an encrypted secondary message, it was easily deciphered by the Cardinals men, it read; "You shall be repaid thrice for the honor you have given me" Valentin merely smiled with a merciless grin... -- Derby City, Asian Eleytheria -- Michael and Hans walked through the City, discussing and surveying the damage of Derby, and the best way to repair it. Although extensive and widespread, the damage was far from crippling, it could be repaired within a few months. Nothing but good news was coming out of their tour. It was also a good time for the two friends to talk about happenings in different parts of the world. Nothing at all indicated anything but a routine day in Asian Eleytheria. It would be anything but... |

The Cardinal called to his men. Cardinal Valentin- We have the greenlight! Prepare firing sequence!! Initiate- Yes, Gloriousness! At that moment, large, black ICBMs were rolled out of a low bunker on the far side of the air field as they were rolled over, via small rail car, to the launch site. then via a series of cranes, the ICBMs were raised onto the launchers. In the control room, the Jilla initiates were going over the checklist. Initiate 1- Missiles are in place and locked. Initiate 2- Engaging fueling lines. Pumps engaged. Initiate 3- Inputting coordinates. Initiate 1- Launchers positioning at heading 202. Initiate 2- Fueling is complete. Disengaging Fueling lines. Pumps disengaged. Initiate 3- Guidance systems are nominal. Initiate 1- Launcher sytems are nominal. Initiate 2- Propulsion systems are nominal. Initiate 3- Ready to fire on your command, Your Gloriousness. Valentin smiled. He then input the firing codes into the laptop at his desk. Cardinal Valentin- Fire the missiles. Initiate 3- Yes sir, firing missiles one through eight, now. Initiate 1- missiles have cleared the launch bay. They are away. The Cardinal grinned wider. He did his part. Andrey better use the attack wisely. |

The entire camp went silent, awaiting a reply from the Cardinal. A message came through, the missiles have been fired and would impact their targets shortly ... Andrey merely smiled. Andrey approached and stood before his officers; "Each and every one of you know what to do, so let us do it. We have a war to fight, and a victory to claim. We will be in for a rough battle, but we can prevail." Walking up to the crowd of people before him, Andrey knew he would need to keep the soldiers spirits up, and give them a reason to fight, if they were to fight without question. "If I may have your attention!" shouted Puzankov at the top of his lungs, everyone turned to face Andrey, "We've got work to do! You've all come to fight for a glorious cause, the greater cause of Socialism. Freedom is within your grasp! Give no mercy to the enemy as you cannot expect any in return, we will raise the red flag over Derby City before this day is through, and we shall throw down the tyrants that would deprive the PEOPLE of their deserved rights," Andrey shouted as he paced to and fro in front of thousands of troops. "Fight! Fight if only to ensure a better future for your families, Fight if only to pave a path of future peace for your friends, Fight because it is our duty to liberate the oppressed. For too long these lands have been controlled by a corrupt Government that lines its own pockets with wealth while the people of this once fertile land suffer in poverty, let us restore that grand fertility and cleanse the root of Corruption! Gentlemen! Today is a wondrous day! Today we will throw down the oppressors and restore hope to a land of unforgiving nature! As of today, the Glorious Red Revolution, has begun! Let us march forth! Let us march to Victory!!" The soldiers cheered wildly as the speech drew to a close, giving out shouts of encouragement and whistles to their leader. Within only a matter of moments, the entire army had rushed to take column formations, and marched off into an uncertain fate... --- Derby City, Asian Eleytheria --- A small barracks on the outskirts of the town of "Nutaroyok Nerriungnerk" as it is known in Inuktitut, was lazily going about their day, the entire garrison was inside their assigned structures, some of which were reading books to pass time, others playing cards, and still others were merely watched the news. The local police had no trouble at keeping the crowds in Derby City content, so the military was put on stand down and were acting as reserves in the event of an emergency. What they had no idea of, was the fact that a missile traveling at six times the speed of sound was on a collision course with their barracks. The missile blew straight through the cloud layer, descending faster than an eagle after its prey, before any sound even reached the people inside the hardened structure, the missile unleashed its cluster warheads... One by one the large charges smashed through the roof of the barracks and exploded with horrific force, gigantic pieces of steel and concrete were sent flying several hundred meters away from the blast site, every occupant inside the structure was instantly vaporized before they could even react. Flames engulfed the remnants of the barracks foundation, and giant pillars of choking black smoke began to rise ceaselessly into the sky. People miles away would soon see -- and feel -- firsthand the attacks on their once quiet city. Meanwhile... Back in Derby City, the President of the Republic was still touring the City and surveying the damage left over from the storm. After viewing the hardest hit parts of the City, he had finally come up with a reconstruction plan, but those plans would have to be put on hold... "You know, this damage is not as bad as I thought, Hans. With proper guidance, and the resources to do it, we might just recover from this in record time for a change," Michael said. Just as Hans was about to reply, one of the missiles streaked down upon the city and exploded. A shock wave traveled through the city streets, shattering windows and throwing debris. People were screaming and running for cover. As Michael and Hans brought themselves back onto their feet, they were finally in full realization of what was happening, Derby City was under attack... "We've got to get the HELL out of here, Hans!" Michael shouted, as the two began to run back down the street. The reply from Hans was simply "There is no place safe as long as these missiles continue to strike the City, Michael." In the corner of their eyes, they had seen a black object bolt towards the ground a few miles away to the Southeast, a gigantic fireball was rising into the air and another shock wave soon tore through the City streets. Both Hans and Michael rushed to the Capitol building, a few other missiles had struck parts of the city, as evident by the gigantic rumbles off in the distance, secondary explosions could also be heard. The local Law Enforcement was all that was left of any defensive force, and they could do nothing against enemy missiles, only quell discontent and combat small pockets of enemy resistance. As Michael brushed himself off, a young officer carrying a black H&K MP5A2 and wearing a navy blue uniform ran into the Capitol building where Hans and Michael retreated to. "Sir!" he said loudly. "Who the hell is attacking us?!" Michael replied. "I don't know, Sir. I have news that is more alarming than these missile strikes," the young man said. Michael's face turned grim, he already knew what the man was to say next. The young policeman continued; "We received word from citizens in the western part of the Colony that a large group of people were moving towards Derby. The reports coming out of the town of Mingulertok is especially alarming, large bands of people have been spotted traversing the desert armed with assault rifles," he explained. Other guardsmen entered the building, explaining that the missile attacks had ceased. But it was clear to everyone by the expression on their faces that the damage was catastrophic and the outlook was grim. The young officer after looking at his fellow comrades, looked back at Stolarski. "Sir, you are our Commander and Chief, as the militia guardsmen of Asian Eleytheria in times of war, we will serve you to the best we can, Sir. We await your instructions." Michael stood silent for a moment, each and every one of the young souls before him merely stared at him, awaiting their orders. Everyone knew that whomever these aggressors represented, they would have awakened a military reprisal from the mainland. Finally, after a minute of deep thought, Michael came to a conclusion. "Evacuate the city, get as many people, women and children first, on as many functional, most reliable aircraft we have and get them over to our allies in the Assassin Nation. I believe this little missile event would not have gone unnoticed in the Assassin Nation. We also have large caches of weapons throughout the city left over from the Eleythro-Chiron war, gather them up and hand them out to all the officers, and every militia volunteer you can find." "Sir!" the Officer replied, "Any further orders?" "One moment," Michael replied, turning to Hans; "What do we have at the Air Base?" Hans did not reply. "HANS!" Michael shouted, grabbing the attention of the Governor. "Sorry, Sir. Not much, Sir. A single MiG-29, left over for Recon of the eastern borders." "All right, then," Michael said, looking back over at the young officer, "Send a message to the Airfield and have that aircraft outfitted with whatever weapons we can" Hans quickly interrupted, however; "Sir, our only fighter pilot is on vacation." Michael sighed, "Where the hell is he...?" Hans merely replied; "Mingulertok, Sir..." "Dammit ... How long will it take for the invasion force to reach Derby City?" Michael inquired. The young police officer spoke up; "Twenty-four hours, give or take an hour or two." Michael pondered his options carefully, he looked around him. The Capitol building was dark and without electricity, as was much of the City. Communications with the mainland were down, and a large invasion force was spotted marching for Derby City. "All right, we'll have to make a stand until we can restore power and reestablish communications with the Mainland. Do as I said, get the women and children out of here, find every able bodied male you can an arm them with whatever weapons you can spare. Hans, come with me, we need to oversee a defense strategy for Derby City." Michael said bluntly. Hans only nodded at Michael's request. The small group of men left the structure, and Michael was shocked at the columns of smoke rising around the City, an evacuation was quickly under way, currently, all of the Law Enforcement for Derby City was moving citizens to the airfield to be lifted to the Assassin Nation. Both Hans and Michael could not help but wonder if they would survive this conflict, as this battle would prove to be the Mother of all Conflicts for the Eleytherians. The black pillars of smoke bore mute testimony that whatever the outcome, only one side can prevail... --- To be continued --- OOC: Yeah, yeah. This post was crap. But I am tired, you try something like this running on nothing but 2 hours of sleep and caffeine... In any case, I'll make another post tomorrow when I am rested. |

OOC: All right, I posted a battle map in the first post of the first page, use it as a reference as to what is happening in each phase of this conflict. It'll be updated with every combat-oriented post I make or when I state that it has been updated. IC: Michael and Hans were too busy overseeing the defense of Derby City to notice the dust being kicked up in the distance by Andrey's soldiers marching across the dusty terrain, although it would not take them long to realize the details that they were missing on the horizon. Power was still out all through the city, little functioned properly as it should have, and men were scrambling to contact the mainland to no avail. If the Eleytherians did not get help soon, they would simply be overrun by Socialist troops. "Michael!" shouted one of the police officers in a shrilling scream, immediately grabbing the Presidents attention he ran over to see what was wrong. "Look!" The young boy said loudly, "They are within visual range!" Michael quickly turned to face what the young officer was looking at, he was right, small plumes of dust were rising as thousands of men marched closer and closer to their positions. "Damn!" the President shouted, quickly turning to run across the street where Hans was standing, "Quickly! We need to ready ourselves, move it! Move it!" Hans quickly looked around at the militiamen who were taking cover behind anything they possibly could. Walls, pillars, inside houses and apartment buildings. Poorly trained for this kind of situation, he knew many would probably not return home to their families, he could only pray for their safety. He casually walked into position and readied his weapon, shouting "Give them hell on the President's order!" as he loaded his rifle. Meanwhile... Andrey Puzankov himself was to command the frontal assault on Derby City, and he had plenty of presents from the Russians and from Cardinal Valentin to succeed in this task. With 14,000 men at his command and over 800 Katyusha rockets, he would level Derby before failing to raise the Red flag. He understood that this battle would be bloody, he also understood that the stakes were incredibly high, for both sides. He had no idea just how high the stakes really were ... Inside Derby City was the President of Eleytheria himself, but Andrey and Michael were oblivious to each others presence in the Colony except for the fact that there were two opposing forces about to clash with one another. Andrey rallied his troops and erected Katyusha launch stands in a long line just in front of his troops, with no air support to prevent the rockets from being fired, the results would be guaranteed destruction on a catastrophic scale. Two-hundred Rockets from a truck convoy were en-route to the siege site as Andrey surveyed the field of battle, he would use a tactic right out of his old Generals book, using the Katyusha rockets to first make large craters in the ground between the field of conflict and the city itself, to provide foxholes and trenches for his forces to take cover in. Finally, he would unleash a barrage of the Katyusha rockets on the City itself, hoping to kill any guards caught in the path of the shrapnel and lethal concussive force. What made this all the more easier to achieve, was the fact that unlike cities back in the Mainland, none of the settlements in the Colony had defensive walls around them. One of the Mercenaries ran up to Andrey carrying a small envelope, "Andrey," he began "You've a message." "A message?" Andrey asked the soldier with a slightly puzzled look. "Who from, boy?" "From a David Vandergrist, so it says. Its also entitled 'Urgent,' Sir," the kid had replied. "Very well," Andrey said, extending his hand and taking the letter, "Let us see what the man has to say to me..."
Andrey could not help but only smile at the letter, he knew that the odds were overwhelmingly against the Eleytherians in their colony, and he also knew he could take the Capitol before the mainland had a chance to send any forces at all to reinforce the Garrison. He crumpled the letter up and tossed it to the ground and called his Colonel over. "Mazritov, have you a map of what is south of here? Any towns or the like?" "Yes, Andrey. I have them over in the newly erected command tent, I believe the nearest town to the South is Mingilertok, a small town out in the middle of the damned desert." "It does not matter!" shouted Andrey, "They may still have the means to contact the mainland! Do not let it happen, Mazritov, or I will have your head. Now go! Take a thousand men and burn the town to the ground, leave nothing!" "Yes, Sir!" the Colonel replied, quickly springing into action. Andrey looked back at the smoke still rising from Derby City from the Cardinals missile strike, he knew that the Eleytherian forces would be stretched too thin to both fight his forces and prevent critical area's of the city from burning to the ground. Half an hour later, several trucks rolled into the campsite, immediately Andrey ordered their contents unloaded and prepared for usage. Several rockets were outfitted on their launchers in the following hour, and the first barrage of rockets was ready to be used... Andrey paced wildly back and fourth again, "Aim the rockets between here and the City, create as much cover for our advancing troops as possible," he shouted to the Katyusha operators. The men complied, and gave word that they were ready to fire. Andrey gave a mighty roar and shouted "FIRE!", smoke rushed from the bottom of the rockets and they began to spiral into the air with a hideous screech. The beginning of a new conflict over old scores to settle had just begun... Posted Image |

OOC: Battle Map Updated. IC: The Katyusha rockets descended upon the ground, burrowing into the soil and exploding with great force, sending chunks of dirt and rock hurling through the air, scarring the ground and leaving deep craters. Andrey merely stood at a distance, smoking his cigarette and surveying the damage. After the rockets ceased to rain down, thick dust completely shrouded Derby City from view, but quickly drifted off into the East. He ordered that the Katyusha stands be reloaded, he would soon strike the city now that cover had been made for his advancing troops. Although it was not much, it was better than no cover at all. Then suddenly, an idea came into his mind, the cigarette in his lips went limp. He looked off to his left, and to his amusement, was a large pile of unwanted dirt excavated only weeks ago to make room for construction in the city. To him, it was a Godsend. An enormous smile came to his face, and he quickly turned and ran into the command tent, "Gentlemen! I've an idea! Gather around and let me share it with you..." Meanwhile in Eleytheria-Duo, Kugaaruk City... A woman's voice could be heard in the quiet halls of Republic Headquarters, it was past midnight, and Vice-president Catherine Nerdinskaya was at her desk trying to gather what information she could on the power outage in Derby City. She had no idea that the colony was under attack, although she had suspected something was wrong. However she had no proof of anything sinister behind the blackout, for now she would just have to wait. "Yes ... Yes, thank you. I understand. Have a good night." Catherine was frustrated at this point, with little information on the situation, she decided it was time to call it the night and simply goto to bed. She took her glasses off and walked into her quarters. As she turned the lights out, she couldn't get the thought out of the back of her mind, and was having a hard time falling asleep, it was going to be a long night... --- Derby City, Asian Eleytheria--- Michael was sitting down inside a small office structure with a loaded AK-107 at his side, hoping that his presence amongst the Police officers would raise their spirits, he was looking out the window at the line of men off in the distance, they were his enemies. Suddenly, a man walked through the door and reported in; "Sir, we have word," was his response to the Presidents look. Michael stared blankly for a moment, finally he spoke up. "Well?" he said, slightly annoyed that the officer could not just speak his mind. The officer clearly did not know how to begin, "Well, Sir... I am not exactly sure how to put it, we have no idea what they are doing, all we can say is, there is some activity near a large dirt mound to the southwest of the city." Michael sighed, slightly relieved the messenger had no news of invaders in other parts of the City, nevertheless, he was concerned by this report; "Show me," he said as he brought himself to his feet. The officer, along with a few others, accompanied Michael to the very edge of Derby, where the mound could clearly be seen, as could the craters that were now spewed across the southern view of the desert plain between the City and the opposing forces. "Here, Sir," one of the officers said while handing Michael a pair of binoculars. What he seen through them were several men around and atop the mound. They appeared to be shoveling and loosening the dirt. "What the hell are they doing..." he said to himself aloud. As he waited and observed the unusual activity, he noticed that they all began to walk back to the main line, where the siege camp was. He noticed little in the camp that was suspicious, although the Katyusha stands were intimidating in their fully loaded stance. Michael gave the binoculars back to the man in charge of this particular squad and began to walk towards the door. But suddenly a violent explosion rocked the very foundations of every structure along the southern line, Michael quickly turned around and to his disbelief, a tremendous cloud of dirt over a hundred feet in the sky continued to rise over the City. "Awww, God!" Michael said to himself under his breathe, "Ready combat positions! Quickly!" he shouted as he grabbed his AK-107 and rushed out the door, screaming "Ready yourselves!" to any of the troops within listening range. The towering cloud of dirt began to fall and the wind began to blow it east in front of the views of all the City guards, thick clouds of dust rolled through the streets so dense that it was hard to see. Even still the sound of whistling Katyusha rockets wailed into the city, exploding and shattering windows, sending the shrapnel contents of the rocket through concrete blocks, iron balls swathed through anything flesh, screams of Eleytherian militiamen were everywhere, and blood began to drain from beneath the doors of buildings that had been stricken. Without any warning, the silhouettes of human figures charged through the dust, and the bullets went flying ... machine guns and assault rifles began to ring out and roar across the cities defensive line, even more hideous screams of terrified and dying soldiers could be heard as hot lead met their targets. To Hans' horror, he heard the Eleytherian guards shouting 'RETREAT!!,' and the men around him fled in terror, the sudden shock of the attack had thrown the defenders into a rout. Hostile soldiers began to swarm the streets of the City, and the gunfire continued in house to house fighting. Grenades and dozens of RPG's leveled entire buildings. Hans found his way to Michael, whom was inside a structure shooting out the window at anything not in Eleytherian uniform. "Quickly!" Hans shouted "We must go! We cannot hold them here!" "If we leave, we risk loosing the entire City!" Michael shouted back. The response from Hans was not one of hospitality, "Damn you, Michael! We have ... GOT ... to go! If we stay here we'll all die! We've better chances towards the heart of the City where we have more cover!" Michael looked over at Hans and looked back out at the smoke filled streets, he shook his head in submission and jumped to his feet, running with Hans to the City core. The city was now almost completely on fire, first the missile attacks, then the Katyusha rockets, and then of course the actual invasion had resulted in firefighters unable to battle the flames effectively, it spread through 30% of the City and kept on going. Posted Image And soon, even more Katyusha rockets rained down in a terrible storm on the City core ... people scrambled for cover, the militia, barely even being in battle, had broken spirits and failing morale. The situation was now very bleak for Derby City. |

The wind began to kick up strength, the smoke rising from Derby City began to carry for miles, faintly visible as far away as Chiron territory in Australia. Andrey didn't seem to care, he was close to victory and he knew it. Inside his command tent, Andrey was leaning over, staring emotionless at a map of Asian Eleytheria. He had fought and struggled for over three years to re-challenge Eleytherian dominance, finally his dream was being realized... A Mercenary soldier, and fanatical socialist, walked into to the tent and stood at the table with a smile. "Sir, I have news that you will want to hear," he began, grabbing Andrey's attention. "Our forces have penetrated the southern defensive line, the Eleytherian scum retreated to the city core." Andrey turned his head and stood upright, "As it should be, this damned city will be ours by nightfall. With help of soldiers like yourself, we'll see to it." The soldiers smile grew larger, but not because of Andrey's compliment, but at another piece of news he was able to retrieve. "That is not all, my Premier. We have received word that the President of Eleytheria-Duo himself is inside the city." This did, indeed, grab Andrey's attention with a quickness. "That bastard of a man would be dead if I had my way!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Instruct your men to capture him alive! I will kill him MYSELF!" "Yes, Sir! It will be an honor, Sir!" --- Town of Mingilertok, Asian Eleytheria --- Colonel Alexi Mazritov, a Socialist colonel whom Andrey knew since the first Civil war, moved around and into the town of Mingilertok. A quiet and desolate place, full of people that just wish to be left alone. His orders were simple, destroy all communications in the town and execute anyone who resisted. Citizens fled for their homes when they had received news that he was on his way to their town. Some even took up arms, and were praying that the Socialists did not knock on their doors. But that was not to be ... the soldiers went from door to door and asked people a simple question, 'Whom is your new sovereign.' If they did not answer 'You are,' they were dragged out of their homes and imprisoned. Alexi himself knew what he had to do, he had picked a spot four miles north of Mingilertok, it was to be a mass grave ... men were already there digging, and they would be filled quickly. Out of the 6,000 inhabitants in the town, over 3,700 were to be culled like cattle. Herded into the back of trucks in groups of three-hundred and shot. And they would... --- The Grave Site, north of Mingilertok --- (OOC WARNING: THIS PARTICULAR SECTION HAS GRAPHIC, CONTROVERSIAL AND EMOTIONAL DESCRIPTIONS! SKIP TO THE NEXT PART (HIGHLIGHTED IN BOLD) IF YOU HAVE A SENSITIVE STOMACH!) The first shipment of citizens had arrived for culling, the soldiers forcefully dragged the hand-bound citizens in front of a large open pit and told them to stand still if they wished to die with any dignity. The citizens brought here were picked without prejudice. Men, women, and children, some as young as five years old, were lined side by side. The Socialists took up a long line and awaited their Lieutenant's order. One of civilian men tried to run, only to be shot in the back of the head... The land was quiet, save for the people shuddering in terror and the children crying. The lieutenant looked over at his men and shouted "Fire!". The soldiers raised their rifles, switched their safeties off, and squeezed their trigger... Thunderous claps echoed and a hail of bullets tore through flesh, severing fingers and limbs from their hosts bodies. Blood soaked the soil as the soldiers continued to hold down their triggers, only until they heard the ominous *click* from their rifles did they discover the aftermath, a single person was still alive. A young woman whom was covered in blood from her injuries managed to pull herself to her feet and ran over to her dead 7 year old daughter laying on the ground, holding her in her arms and crying. The lieutenant gingerly pulled out his sidearm and shot her in the head, the crying immediately stopped and both bodies fell backwards into the pit. The lieutenant walked over, and kicked the little girls dismembered arm into the hole and shouted "Bury them! Lets go, lets go! We've got more work to do!" The atrocity committed by Andrey's men on this day would be the worse in Eleytherian history, even worse than the school attacks during the first Civil war. By the end of the day, all 3,700 citizens would be dead... OOC: END OF GRAPHIC DESCRIPTIONS --- Derby City, Asian Eleytheria --- The battered Eleytherian militia were exhausted just trying to retreat to safe grounds, now in the city core awaiting the next hostile attack. one of them walked up to the President with a terrified look on his face. "Sir, we can't win. This fight has just begun and we just got our asses kicked. Please, surrender. We're all going to die if we don't" the young and frightened police officer had said. Michael looked the kid in the eye and put his hand on his shoulder, "We cannot, or even more of our people will die if we show them they can get away with whatever the hell they like." He then turned and addressed all of the men within his presence, "This is war, and war is bloody, its messy, its hell, and its frightening. You are all feeling fear, that is the same fear I am feeling right now, we are all just as likely to die, it won't just be the next man beside of us, it will be all of us if we fail here today. Our families, our friends are all depending on us to hold out against these murderous cutthroats, and if we cannot succeed, then the lives of our beloved ones is in their hands. More people will die under their rule. I will not lie to any of you, our odds are not good, but at least if we do not succeed, we fought for what was right, we would die deaths of courage, not cowardice. And if we win the day, we can hold our heads high that we looked pure evil in the eye and defeated it. And we can go home to our families, and to our friends. Have hope and do not loose it, because for now it is all we have left." --- Derby Siege Camp, Asian Eleytheria --- Darkness had fallen over Derby, it was now early night and over five-thousand men lined up around the camp facing the city. Andrey was in his tent, he sent a message to his forces in Villaret. "Message begins: Take a vessel out to the lone island northwest of Villaret, instruct David Vandergrist that it is time to retrieve what he has buried there. Whatever you do, he is not to be harmed. Message ends." He then sent a message to the Cardinal; "Message begins: I have a gift for you, friend. However I am afraid of delivering it directly to you, please state a location for the drop off. The gift that the ship will carry, will amuse you greatly. Message ends." Andrey Puzankov then walked out of his command tent smiling. Working his way up the stairs of a makeshift podium he grabbed the microphone off of its black iron stand. "Gentlemen! Behind me lies the city of Derby, the Capitol of the Eleytherians in their colony. Earlier this morning we managed to secure a great victory, we need that again from brave soldiers such as yourselves." Here, Andrey picked up a small hand held remote and aimed it at a large projector and screen that was looted from the portion of the City that they had captured. "Kill everyone you find that stands in your path, take the Capitol building. I have only one request of you. Find me and capture this man," he said as he pushed the controllers button, a face of Michael Stolarski came up on the screen. "And also, this man," he said as he pushed another button, bringing Hans' face onto the screen. "Those who bring me Michael Isais Stolarski back alive will receive 250,000 Phi's, and those who bring me back Hans Yürich Von Bossenmaier alive will receive 100,000 Phi's." Andrey walked back from the stage for a moment and once more turned and faced the men. "This city is the sitting place of Eleytherian power in Asia, a weak place, but make no mistake, also rich as they fed off the wealth of other nations like parasitic leeches. 70% of the money within the Asian Eleytherian treasury will be divided up amongst all of you, a fair portion I assure you. The rest will go to rebuilding this damned place in OUR image!" The men cheered as Andrey whipped the mob into a frenzy with talk of wealth and power. "Bring me these damned state leaders, and have your reward. By dawn this city will be ours! GO AND TAKE IT!" The roar from the crowd became deafening, they all waved their fists into the air and began to take column formations, marching towards the southern end of the city that they had recently captured. Within a matter of half an hour, they were only a few hundred meters from the City core. Fighting through these particular streets would be bloody, but the Capitol building was already in visual range. All of the men quietly took positions around the Eleytherian defensive parameters, as electricity was still out since no one was around to repair the grid, the defenders simply could not see the attackers moving in. After stepping over the line that separated the City core from the rest of the city, the entire army charged in full sprint... --- To be continued --- OOC: All right, so were getting really close to the final moments of free Asian Eleytheria, you won't want to miss the ensuing battle, or the battle to try and reclaim the colony. I also apologize if the grave scene was a little too gut wrenching. :ph43r: |

OOC- ED, the Cardinal has no ships. If Andrey can get a flying boat tender out there, I can have one of the Cardinal's flying boats land there. IC- Message from the Cardinal- I will have some of my initiates fly in on a water landable aircraft. If you can get a tender out there, that would help immensely. |

OOC: Andrey don't have any military ships suited for acting as tenders for any large flying boats. Don't you have any smaller aircraft? This 2 cases of uranium, not a nuclear powered tank... Edit: If you have to, send a Grumman G21!! |

OOC- As the Cardinal uses his own machines it wont be Grumann per se. IC- The small ambhibious "Midlight" aircraft had been built by the Cardinal's initiates just for this sort of thing. It was lucky the Cardinal thought to ask for a fuel tender...the small plane was going to reach its absolute range trying to get to Australia, thus it would need fuel. It took nearly a day and a half, but soon the aircraft had reached the designated position where a small fuel tanker was waiting, guarded by a small fleet of speedboats full of men with machineguns. The aircraft didn't stay long. It took on the cargo, refueled, and left. Cardinal Valentin back at the Desert Palace was very happy however. He was a nuclear power, now. |

OOC- He could have, and he certainly has the funds to do so..handsomely. But He is also a man who gives a good bang for the buck. Al Araam shelters him and keep his base secret, in return, he keeps Al Araam as far away from his criminal activities as possible to keep suspicion off you and thus keep you interested in protecting him. As powerful as you are, the Cardinal knows first hand how much of an error it is to make too many enemies... |

The Militia that were holed up in the Capitol were resting, all was quiet, calm... Some were taking the time to pray, in hope to getting out alive. Other, more experienced men were merging their magazines to ensure they have a fully loaded rifle and rifle clips. One of the militiamen was sitting on the second level of the structure looking out the window when he saw the rushing of shadows heading straight for the front door, he quickly jumped to his feet almost tripping over his own legs and shouted down to the guards on the first floor; "They're coming!!" Just then, the double doors ruptured wide open and the dark halls of the Capitol building began to flash wildly from muzzle flashes, the smell of sulfur soon dominated the air and screams echoed once again along with the clinks of empty shell casings hitting the once beautiful marble floors, now stained red with blood... One of the young Eleytherian Militiamen raised his rifle and sighted down the barrel, he seen several rapid bright flashes aimed at him. He dropped his rifle, realizing he no longer had the strength to even stand anymore, as he looked down at his chest, he was horrified to see seven bullet wounds piercing through him. He could feel his heart rate quickly declining, making peace with himself that this was his end on this carnal world, he kissed his golden cross necklace and let out a final sigh of breath... Michael, along with everyone else in the lower floors, scrambled for cover as a hail of bullets ricocheted off of walls and pillars. An exchange of fire between him, his comrades, and the socialists was in full swing. A guard foolishly tried to run across the room to his wounded friend, but was struck by a stray round in the side of his head and dropped to the floor in a pool of blood, the sight was demoralizing to all who witnessed it. Hans ran down the stairs from the second floor to grab Michael before he was injured, and to his shock, the two guards at the base of the stairs were almost completely concealed in a mist of their own blood and fell to the ground right in front of him. Undeterred, he rushed to Michael's side and grabbed his arm, jerking him back up the stairs. Michael did not wish to leave his soldiers to fight alone, but Hans overpowered him and dragged him up the stairs. Michael finally submitted and willingly raced to the second story of the building, and was in dismay to see flames shooting from the windows of neighboring structures adjacent to the Capitol, those structures too, were being rushed by hostile soldiers. "Quickly!" Hans shouted, "Into the council chambers!" All of the survivors ran into the large meeting hall, which had two thick metals doors with a wooden outer lining for decoration, they would stop the hail of bullets from penetrating and would make an excellent defensive position for a final stand. The men scrambled to close window blinds and shutters, taking cover behind decorative pillars and large heavy pieces of furniture. The heavy footsteps of the enemy were heard rushing up the stairs. The Eleytherians waited ... staring down the barrels of their iron sights, watching the barricaded door. The mercenaries tried battering the door down for what seemed like an eternity to everyone awaiting them to breach the inner core of the structure. But finally everything fell silent, it was as if they had just given up. Then a large explosion sent the two heavy doors flying off their hinges, splintering the heavy chunks of wood on its outer surface, hurling them as lethal spikes. Hans was struck in the abdomen by one of the large wooden fragments, he screamed in agony as it dropped him to his back. Andrey's mercenaries charged into the room, and both sides unleashed hell upon one another as their firearms screamed around them as the sounds of sheer pandemonium consumed the Capitol. The battle continued on for over half an hour, but eventually the entire city fell quiet, save for the footsteps of the now victorious and merciless mercenaries that had granted Andrey his blood soaked victory. Andrey's men slowly entered the blood soaked room of which the final conflict for the capitol had taken place, a few young men were barely hanging onto life, whom were quickly finished off by a bullet to the back of the head. One of the mercenaries came across Hans, whom was barely conscious from his injuries and groaning in pain. Another came across Michael Stolarski, whom was rendered unconscious from the tremendous force of a concussion grenade earlier in the battle. Both of them were spared, and dragged into the main courtroom where Andrey himself was waiting.... Andrey walked over to Hans, whom was only standing with the help of his captor behind him. His eyes widened as he seen the face of the man who approached him. "Heh heh heh" Andrey laughed to himself, "Hans Yürich Bossenmaire, what a pleasure to finally have you within my presence, I shall enjoy disposing of you, as I will with Michael here..." Hans did not reply, still stunned at the sight. Andrey then walked over to Michael, whom was still unconscious but also being held upright by his captor, Andrey lifted Michael's chin and poured cold canteen water over his face. Michael awakened. The President gasped for air, still somewhat confused as to what had happened, that is until he looked up and opened his eyes... "Andrey Puzankov...! You Bast...." He said. Andrey backhanded him before he could finish. "You are in MY domain now, Michael!" Andrey shouted. One of Andrey's men stepped forward; "What should be done with them, Sir? Shall we execute them?" "No!" Andrey quickly replied, "I've a better idea..." he said as another one of his grins came to his face. --- To be continued --- OOC: Atrocities were just about as bad as they could get already, no? Heh, well... the shocker post comes next... :gnarkgnark: |

Soldiers were moving chairs and lighting equipment onto a small stage in front of the Derby Capitol Building, a small wooden chair was positioned in full view of three cameras overlooking the stage. The sun was rising as storm clouds gathered over the city once more, mixed with the smoke that arose from the City. The dawn was as red as the new, victorious, revolution that had thrust its dagger into this once vibrant colony. Andrey, leader of the Socialist forces, walked up onto the stage. Two prisoners, Hans and Michael were escorted next to the stage, the first, Hans, was seated into the chair and restrained. Puzankov nodded; "Do it." With that, a broadcast was transmitted directly to Republic Headquarters in the Federal Republic of Eleytheria-Duo, the sitting place of the Presidency. It would only be moments before they would undoubtedly get a reply... --- Republic Headquarters, Federal Republic of Eleytheria-Duo --- Catherine was in Military Command, discussing the war in Europe with her Generals and the Commanders in the field when a frantic messenger busted through the bunkers doors. "Mrs. Vice-president! Mrs. Vice-president!" He was screaming with a terribly frightened and shaky voice. Catherine quickly turned around and tried to calm the shaken man down. "Slow down, what is wrong?" she inquired. "They ... they took it! They have them!" the man replied. "Who took what? Who has who?" Catherine inquired. "The S..S..Socialists! They conquered Asian Eleytheria...! They've Hans and ... M..Michael hostage! They've our President!" Catherine went pale as the blood drained from her face, her worries had been well founded after all; "How do you know this?!" she shouted at the messenger. "B..Because, Mrs. Vice-president, their leader is requesting you accept his transmission as we speak!" Yanon and Catherine looked at each other for a long minute, the General extended his hand outward as a gesture to proceed to the conference room. The two rushed inside the room and looked to the live feed coming through the video conference, on screen was the face of a man that no one wished to see again. "Ahh, Catherine ... I was beginning to believe that you would never show" Andrey said, smiling while holding a loaded gun in his hand. "Andrey, you Son of a Bitch! What the hell have you done?!" Catherine said with an angered tone. Andrey nodded at someone behind the camera and the video transmission went global, every nation on earth could now pick up the signal openly, and it was doubtless that they would. Andrey proceeded; "Well, Catherine, I would not presume to ask you of any favors, so I have a proposal for you, in exch..." Catherine interrupted Puzankov, "You are a terrorist, a traitor, a murderer, and a child killer Andrey, I will make no deals with you." Laughing hardly at her comment, Andrey made another signal to the operator behind the Camera, the view zoomed out to reveal a man strapped into the chair and gagged, it was Hans Yürich Bossenmaire, the Governor of Asian Eleytheria. "My, My Catherine," He proceeded, "You do not fully understand the gravity of the situation, Asian Eleytheria is mine now. And for your arrogance, you have just forfeit the life of poor Hans here." With one swift motion, Andrey pressed his loaded handgun to the back of Hans' head and pulled the trigger, Catherine flinched forcefully, looking away unable to bear the sight of her friend dying. Andrey waved his gun to his men; "Get this stiff out of the chair and bring our next guest," He then looked back up at the camera, "Well, that was exciting, now wasn't it? Perhaps you shall LISTEN to what I have to say before interrupting me rudely," he said lightly, waving his finger back and forth as if he was punishing Catherine like a child. "And what the hell do you think you are going to achieve Andrey?! I fail to understand what it is you want from me," Catherine replied, clearly confused what it is she has to offer him. Again he laughed, "Catherine, Catherine, Catherine... You just don't get it do you? I want you to give Asian Eleytheria up willingly, I wish you to give me the rights to this land legally." If it were not for the fact that a friend of hers was killed, it would be Catherine laughing at this point, instead she was struggling to merely keep her composure "And what in Gods great Earth would inspire me to do such a thing?" Merely staring into the camera for a moment, Andrey motioned his hand at someone else off screen. A man struggling to break free of his binds was brought on stage and forced into the chair. As the guards cleared the stage, the mans face was clear -- President Michael Isais Stolarski was now seated in the very chair that Hans was brutally executed in. By this point, Catherine began to clearly show signs of extreme stress, tremors shook through her body as she looked into the face of a man she called her friend since the official founding of the Republic, years ago. "My God ... Why do you do this?! You know I cannot grant to you what you request!" Catherine said, still in shock at the turn of events before her. "Why not?" Andrey asked plainly. "Because you have our President in that very chair, his authority exceeds my own, if his will be to give you the colony, than it shall be done," she replied. Andrey laughed at this; "Don't give me that bullshit, Catherine. I know all about Eleytherian law, and it explicitly states that if the President is killed, captured, or unable to perform his duties, it is the VICE-President that makes all decisions for the state." Catherine began to break a sweat, Andrey was not going to fall for any tricks, not after coming this far. She knew that Michael would not want her to hand over the colony without a fight, and even if she did, Andrey would never let the President of Eleytheria-Duo go free in exchange. Hesitantly, Catherine replied "I ... I cannot do as you ask, Andrey," she said in a shaky voice, "I am sorry Michael, it has been an honor to serve with you, I love you my friend." Michael nodded into the camera, even though he was gagged and his mouth obscured, it was obvious that he was smiling. "Enough of this bullshit!" Andrey said, enraged that he was unable to achieve what it was he wanted. He yanked back on the hair of Michael and quickly positioned the handgun under the Presidents chin. "Time to die, Michael," Andrey whispered into his ear, he pulled the trigger... A rocket of blood shot through the top of Michael's skull, his eyes rolled back and his head fell limp. Catherine's eyes filled with tears, Andrey took the lives of two of her comrades in a single day. Their lives would be avenged, she vowed it, Andrey had crossed more lines than any man dared tread upon. Puzankov looked back at the camera; "I shall see your forces on the field of Battle then, Catherine. If you shall not give me these lands, I shall take it and I shall hold it, for we have already won." Andrey's hand sliced through the air, signaling to cut the video feed. The conference had ended, the world had witnessed the atrocities of one man, the time for talk was over. Both sides would now be looking for allies, and both sides would unleash a tidal wave of total war upon one other... With the meeting now at an end, and the footage from this dialogue public knowledge across the globe, Andrey had a lot on his mind. He knew that his display of strength may earn him some powerful allies, but he also knew it would also risk bringing him powerful enemies as well. He gave orders to his engineers to begin assembling the missile that the Russians had supplied him, and arm it with a Nuclear warhead. Enrichment would begin on the rest of the Uranium that was not of weapons grade. If the Eleytherians wished to attack his newly conquered territory, he would throw a welcoming party for them. As for Catherine, she ordered the withdraw of a large portion of her forces from Europe to head back to the mainland, and then depart for Socialist Eleytheria. If they wished to reclaim the colony they would have to strike fast -- and hard... Catherine tried to grab some sort of rest before a very long day ahead of her, but there was no sleep this night, only tears... |

The Eleytherian Fleet was just outside Assassin Waters, the homelands of their ally. Approaching their once former homelands, now a land that insulted their very honor. The assault would soon take place, but first they needed to take precautions that Andrey had nothing new up his sleeve. With things proceeding smoothly thus far, the fleet split in half, the Kuznetsov Carrier took a portion of its navy and broke off to the West, whilst the Moskva Assault Ship headed east. Meanwhile, inside the ships, marines were scrambling to arm themselves, strapping on their heavy Kevlar plates. Aircraft were readied, missiles locked unto their pylons, and the FS-1's arose from under the Carriers decks, wings beginning to unfold, their turbine engines beginning to spin with a loud hiss... The coast was in view, off in the distance was the lands of Socialist Eleytheria to the right of their view, and to their left, was Chirondom, their former enemies, which may find an alliance of convenience if things continued to spiral out of control. Admiral Raymond Leigh, the commander of Eleytherian Fleet Operations within Asia, gave the order to launch the first air strikes against Andrey Puzankov's Stronghold in Derby. Fighters from ENS Kugaaruk CVN blasted from the decks, afterburners lit, bombs at the ready, finger on the trigger. Andrey Puzankov, whom was in an underground bunker observing his RADAR Monitor, was delighted to see the Eleytherian jets scrambling to attack the City. David Vandergrist, the former JAUST Representative to Eleytheria-Duo said to him; "So the war begins ... again..." Puzankov shook his head; "It has never ended, David." Derby City seemed quiet, most people fled for their lives when they had received word that the Eleytherian Fleet was within weapons range of the City, except for the soldiers whom were mandated to defend the region... The FS-1's flew over the city extremely low, their tremendous roar was deafening and antiaircraft batteries opened up, an unbelievable display of yellow streaks blazed into the sky across the sun setting cityscape, concussive plumes burst into the sky as Flak shells exploded around the pilots canopies. The jets pushed onward through the hailstorm, their engines so loud windows below exploded from their panes. The squadron leader closed in on his target; As he scanned his canopy and instruments, his HUD Display indicated a triangle inside of a box, an ear piercing tone broke out inside the cockpit; "Phoenix one, weapons away." Two large bombs detached from the bottom from each of the squadrons aircraft ... antiaircraft cannons still whizzing around them wildly. Bombs met their targets, fireballs shot from buildings, and a large obelisk next to the Capitol building cracked with a great rumble, crumbling into its balcony with a terrible roar. Then the Naval vessels fired upon the City with their missiles ... screeching their way into the urban environment, exploding and destroying antiaircraft batteries, one striking a hotel building, fire consuming the structure and sending the very roof hurling into the air in pieces... The bombings continued for another hour, the devastation was catastrophic, smoke arose so high into the sky that even the Assassins along the coast of their Island homeland could see its terrible plume rising into the sky. As night fell, everything fell silent, what little was left of Derby City continued to burn in a hellish inferno visible from space with the unaided eye, at this very hour however, Andrey was planning his retaliation... "The weapons are ready," a man whispered into his ear as he watched his hard won capitol fall to ashes. There was no smile this time, only hatred, malice, and the craving for blood. "Fire the fucking thing, then!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, his echoing voice carrying across the desolate landscape. "Yes, Sir..."; Time passed at Andrey's Bunker, until a garage opened up with a truck carrying a large missile on the back, it moved unto the surface, a large hydraulic arm lifted the missile at an angle, it fired... Charles Salvador, Captain of the Moskva assault ship was sipping his coffee as systems checks were being performed, too far away to see with the naked eye, was the Kuznetsov class Aircraft carrier known as 'ENS Kugaaruk,' the capitol ship for the operations. Everything seemed calm, quiet ... Then blinding white ... Posted Image The light was visible all the way from Larrimah, and it was inevitable that camera's on sky scrapers would catch the rising mushroom cloud, the Assassin shores lit up in a brilliant glow, the entire night sky and all the stars simply disappeared from view. As the bright flash receded, Charles looked out in the direction where his Admiral's fleet was, a towering fiery mushroom was all that was left, moments later, a Shockwave of boiling hot steam smashed into his fleet at the speed of sound, shattering windows and throwing crew members to the deck with horrific burns. Slowly, the fireball grew dimmer, fading into the night sky and the stars slowly returned ... Klaxons blaring on the ships that its terrible Shockwave had struck, its burn victims were moaning and groaning in agony. Charles himself was badly cut by flying glass and burned from the steam cloud that burst over him, but he did not waver nor did he let the pain stand in his way of ensuring the safety of his crew. The ships were fine, the people were battered and severely injured. As for the ENS Kugaaruk and her fleet ... the molten twisted hulk gently glided under the now-calm waves... |

Posted Image Waves gently rolled across the coast and warm, sandy beaches of Australia, however the tranquil scene was deceiving, for these particular waters were strictly regulated by the Government of Socialist Eleytheria. It was now almost two years since Andrey Puzankov, leader of the Socialist revolution, seized control over the once proud, rich colony of Eleytheria-Duo. However ... its resources were not being put to use to support the people as the old Government did, but into war -- war with the mainland. Derby city, Little Chirondom, Aloyok, Wilson Ridge, once prosperous and thriving cities were now largely run down, spectacle of old warehouses, poorly maintained houses, and devastated roads. Poverty is beginning to sky rocket, the value of the Socialist Phi is deeply in stagnation, falling more than twice behind the Mainland. Inequality runs rampant, basic human rights and freedoms are ignored by the iron fist Government, no one, not man, not woman, not child, is safe from the ever-watchful gaze of the authoritarian leader, Andrey Puzankov. Human rights abuses are rampant, though the countries "border laws" are so well enforced that none from the outside world have been able to accurately monitor to the extent of those abuses -- at least not without becoming a victim themselves. Since the beginning of his reign, special "Education camps" and "Rehabilitation centers" have risen from the ground over much of the country, as many as five million have died by his hands so far, and the number continues to grow rapidly... The dream of making his cold-hearted regime a nuclear power was finally a reality, paid for in the blood of thousands. Now, despite his small nuclear arsenal, Andrey looks to expand his variety of WMD's. The once private and government-regulated chemicals that had for so long given rise to the immense civilian industrial power -- the very thing that had made Eleytheria-Duo one of the most wealthiest nations in the world -- was now being squandered wildly upon the production of vast Chemical arsenals. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- People's Revolutionary Headquarters -- Socialist Eleytheria Derby City -- 0700 Hours -- Present Day Andrey sat quietly in his lavish leather chair, before him were photos and blueprints of several warships, ascertained by the betrayal of David Vandergrist to his Eleytherian Government. Many of his generals and officials surrounded the large cherry stained table, waiting in silence for Andrey to speak, so much was the fear for working alongside such a brutal man. "What is the status of our construction attempts? General?" asked Andrey as he glanced over at Sean Caine, one of Andrey's senior military commanders. Caine cleared his throat, picking up a small remote from the table and pushing a few indestinct buttons with his thumb; The room darkened and the image of an Aircraft Carrier under construction came up on a wall projection across the room. Much of the carrier had been completed, but the tower was still in the works, as was the aircraft catapults. "As you can see," he began "we have made great headway in the past year, at the rate at which our workers labor, the carrier should be complete within no more than seventy days. Tops." Puzankov nodded; "And the escort ships?" he asked flatly. "Most of them are complete, Sir. Only the Destroyers are still under construction, they should be completed just before the Aircraft carrier," Caine replied. "Excellent ... Keep me informed," Andrey said, bringing himself to his feet, giving Caine a cold stare. Caine looked around the room, realizing he had not turned the lights back on; "Oh," he said, once more pushing a button upon the remote, bringing illumination to the room; "I apologize, Sir." Andrey smiled and nodded at those in the room, then, turned and walked from the conference. -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- One month later ... Derby City -- 1300 Hours The colossal vessels sitting in harbor seemed to inch every bit higher as the hours went by, Socialist Eleytheria was in the process of constructing its very own Navy, its own Air Force, its own official Army, and its own National Guard. Power tools echoed throughout the docks and off the hulls of neighboring war vessels, construction upon the Red Fleet had been going on for twelve hours a day for over a year and a half, the stretch of resources and multiple projects severely slowed down the production rate of all Warships and Aircraft. But all of that aside, and its dwindling resources, the country had pulled off something normally thought impossible by those in mainland Eleytheria-Duo -- the construction of a vast and almost entirely functional army within two years. Andrey had leveled the playing field with his old arch-enemy, now, all he needed was an excuse for war... Estate of Sean Caine What was once a tranquil day for Sean, would become another day of miserable work for a man without a soul. The phone began to ring off the hook, interrupting a tranquil and romantic conversation with his wife. He sighed heavily ... "Damn it, never a moments rest in the servitude of a Socialist nation..."; He walked to the ringing monstrosity and answered the call -- forgetting to control his tongue. "Hello...?!" he said forcefully. A voice reverberated through the phone as Andrey scolded Caine severely; "If you do not wish to have your tongue ripped out at its roots, then I would advise you to watch your tone, General!" "Y..yes, Sir." "Good, remember well whom you work for. But enough of this -- I have a task for you, I need you to ready a professional video and audio crew, those who can fulfill their tasks professionally and quietly." "I'll get right on it, Premier..." The line went dead, and Caine proceeded to fulfill his duties. Though he couldn't help but wonder, why would Andrey need an Audio-Video crew? He could only speculate that there was some grand plot behind it all... --- To be continued --- |

OOC: This is the beginning of the war folks; if you want to know what's gonna happen, pay close attention to the next few posts. This is just the beginning... IC: CHAPTER TWO: PART TWO (CASUS BELLI) "Any excuse shall serve a tyrant." - Aesop People's Revolutionary Headquarters -- Socialist Eleytheria Derby City -- 1345 Hours -- Present Day Sean Caine brought the Camera and Audio equipment as requested by Andrey Andreiovich Puzankov, even if he could not comprehend why these tools were needed. Though he realized that it was not his place to question orders ... Least of all from a man like Andrey. As instructed, the equipment was set up in front of his personal desk, a Socialist flag hung from the back of the room, in plain sight. The blinds were slightly closed, dimming the room. Soon, the Dictator of Asian Eleytheria walked into the office, formally dressed. "Well, I see that we've all done our duty, and on schedule. I want a live communique with complete video feed to Eleytheria-Duo right now. We've a dam to break..." Republic Headquarters -- Eleytheria-Duo Only silence echoed the halls of Republic Headquarters. Catherine, exhausted from her constant struggles in managing the ever-fragile Republic, rested peacefully in her quarters, oblivious to all around her. Vice-president Kevin Lowas completed any business that she may have overlooked, though he could never have prepared himself for what his mortal ears would hear when the Presidential aide approached. "Sir, its the Socialist Eleytherians. They wish to speak with Catherine Nerdinskaya." Kevin was in shock, he dropped his folders on his desk and sat in his chair. Slowly, he leaned back, pondering the meaning of this contact. "Link us up," he replied, brushing the dust off of his suit quickly. "Very well," the aide complied. Kevin turned to face the monitor across the room, as he did, an image of Andrey Puzankov appeared on-screen. Both men were formally dressed, but Kevin clearly showed signs of work. Andrey nodded into the camera's that they both faced and chuckled. "You must be the new guy, Kevin Lowas, is it?" he inquired with a smirk. "What the hell do you want, Traitor?!" Kevin replied sharply, "We haven't the time for your pathetic attempts at hindering our daily lives!" Suddenly, the Socialist dictator lost his smirk upon hearing Lowas' comments, "You are such a childish fool, I demand to speak with Catherine at once. At least she is mature than her lap-dogs I see" Andrey said, leaning forward in his chair. Kevin arched his eyebrow, "Why are you so intent on disturbing Catherine?" Andrey chuckled; "I am not intent on bothering anybody, let us just say I have an offer that would be too good for her to refuse and I want her to hear it for herself. Both sides have, for a very long time, sought to avoid bloodshed in this conflict to get what they want. If that is really Eleytheria-Duo's intention, then your Government will hear what I propose." Both sides paused for a moment, Andrey gestured his head at Kevin to make a decision. Lowas sighed heavily, looking up and nodding at the aide to fetch Catherine from her sleep. "This had damn well be worth our time, Traitor..." The aide rushed through the wide hallways of Republic Headquarters and knocked on Catherine's door before entering; "Madam President, Madam President please wake up, its Andrey on the line for you." Catherines eyes squinted as she tried to focus in the light bursting from the lamp beside her, "What the ... HELL are you talking about..." she asked in a drowsy and annoyed tone. "Its a long story, Madam President, but Lowas said you should hear what Andrey has to say." A sleepy Nerdinskaya shook her head to bring herself back to consciousness; "Lowas will be more interested to hear what I have to say if he does not learn how to handle these situations on his own..." Catherine replied as she brought herself to her feet. "Please, wait with Kevin... I need to slip into something more suitable." The aide rushed back and informed Kevin. Andrey seemed to be growing impatient. Regardless, he realized that it would be over midnight in Eleytheria-Duo, so he said little. Finally, Catherine walked into the room, only to find Kevin and Andrey staring one another down through live video feed, not saying a word. When Kevin noticed his Presidents arrival, he leaped from the chair and stood aside, allowing Catherine to be seated. Andrey was in disbelief, Catherine looked as if she had been drugged, "Ahh, C...Catherine...? Despite my instincts telling me that I should savour how you look at this moment, I am a bit worried that you may not be in the right state of mind to hear my offer" Andrey said, even he being surprised by the looks of Catherine. "I've been up for fourty-seven hours without a drop of sleep, except what little I got before you interrupted it. I do not need lectures on my appearances from anybody, yet alone you. Now get to the point of what you want, Andrey," she replied. The Socialist Dictator proceeded; "Very well. As you are well aware, Catherine, your once vibrant colony was liberated by my..." Catherine quickly interrupted Andrey with a loud and angry tone, "NOT liberated, Andrey. Stolen. Stolen from the free people's of Eleytheria, many good people lost their lives that day, do not play this game with me, Andrey. I've already an excuse to bomb you to the stone-age. If you so desire peace, do not add another transgression to a fast growing list." "My apologies..." Andrey said, whom was enraged but knew putting on a good show was key to his plan. "I will continue. After your colony was ... taken ... from you, we soon realized the locals were putting up much more resistance than we had first anticipated. That is where my offer comes into play." "You ... you would suggest I should help you against my own people...?" Catherine inquired, her blood seething at just the thought of such insolence. Quickly, she jumped to her feet and slammed her fist into the table, violently rattling everything upon it, "How dare you insult us like this!" "No, not help me against your people, Catherine," Andrey replied shaking his head, "Help your people become independent from Socialist Eleytherian Laws. We have pinpointed several cities that are on the verge of open revolt, we were hoping that you would agree to allowing these cities to have Eleytherian Governors, from Eleytheria-Duo. These cities will be exempt of Socialist Eleytheria's laws and directly answer to the Republic of Eleytheria." Catherine wrinkled her eyebrows, "And why should we even consider this? A better question still, what are your motives for offering us this proposal?" Andrey leaned forward, "Because, Catherine, it should be obvious at this point. I intend to preserve what is within my grasp to hold. And as you graciously pointed out, Catherine, many ... *good* ... people died as I ascended to power, if you do not wish to repeat history, then you will prevent *your* people from launching a revolt which WILL send them to their graves. It is as simple as that. Take this road, and you will be saving your peoples lives, is that not what you want?" She sat back in her chair and slowly leaned back; "And what guarantee do we have that you will not betray us?" Puzankov laughed, "I could ask you the same question, now couldn't I?" he said, reaching for a folder that lay upon his desk. Quickly he flipped through the pages as he continued to speak; "From what I have been told, you've a delegate within Asia," he paused as he examined the documents before him, "A vessel off the Assassin Coast, well within proximity to Socialist Eleytheria. If you fear betreyal, have him meet me at 09:30 on monday morning in Little Chirondom at the Red Hill Capitol Building, I have business to attend to there and the timing would fit my schedule. I will explain the details to him, he can question me thoroughly and report directly back to you after our meeting has concluded. Fair enough?" Catherine slightly tilted her head forward; "We will think about it ... do not contact us, we will contact you;" and the video feed was terminated. Meanwhile ... Andrey merely remained seated, opening a bottle of Scotch; "She isn't going to fall for it..." he mumbled to himself in disgust. As he raised the glass to his lips, a sudden anger streak crossed him as he hurled the glass across the room, crashing and shattering into the wall; "GOD DAMMIT!" his voice echoed through the halls... Quickly, he rushed from his office to contact General Caine ... Andrey wanted his war, and he would stop at nothing to get it. He would get his wish ... Once on the phone, he explained to Caine in detail of his plan. Soon, whether Catherine liked it or not, Eleytheria-Duo would be framed for something they did not do... |
