"Antebellum South offers asylum for the Anglo refugees of these recent disturbing bombings in Arizona. The Mexican refugees can go to hell."

OOC: Can I just say this is an extremely confusing 'Civil War'. Kasnyia is Genesian and supports a man who is anti-HL....Jones is meant to represent Genesians, I thought, but has accepted support from non-Genesians and even has said he will kill Genesians (I will have their heads). WTF is Catholic Europe meant to support?

OOC- Yeah, it's confusing, I agree. Genesians win either way though, so it doesn't necessarily require the attention of the Pope, yet. Of course, if Grey attempts any foolishness like that attack on Tuscon again, Viceroy Harzmann will have him forcibly deposed with Jones in power. And if Jones agrees to the Emperor's terms, He will come to power anyway because Grey would have lost his power base.

Okay, then maybe I won't get involved now that the situation is more clear to me.

Major Zidderick stood before a company of U.S. Marine Corps soldiers. They had just recently landed in California and now were ready to take on the enemy. As far as these soldiers knew, like many of the other companies who have arrived in California, the enemy was the rebels who supported Malcom Jones. Major Zedderick knew better than this. Each of the commanding officers had been ordered to purposely give bad orders and intelligence to their troops in an attempt to botch the David Grey defense.

Zedderick didn't know precisely what the reasons for this peculiar strategy was, all he knew is he was suppose to mask some sort of covert operation the United States had planned. He suspected it had something to do with Jones, and this made him wonder why they just didn't openly support Jones instead of Grey. It was all highly peculiar. Still, his orders were his orders, and whatever his superiors had planned, he would make sure his activity would successfully disguise it here in the Bear Flag Republic.

And so he began the briefing of his soldiers on the mission, pulling out slides of enemy positions. Naturally, the information he was giving was highly inaccurate. The positions of rebel positions were greatly exaggerated or false. If his troops ever became suspicious, he'd tell him that this was the intelligence that the Bear Flag Republic had supplied them.

It was such a complex plot....

OOC: Here's the lay-out, CE.

The people of LA are highly Genesian, but basically they have been marginalized by those behind the Bear Flag Revolt that freed the nation from the USA. These men have formed a secret clique of power that is not Genesian at all. The Genesian populace has not really protested this much until now.

David Grey has ties with Kasnyia that go way back. Basically, Kasnyia is part of a coalition (with France and the United States) that effectively owns LA. Grey is only still in power because he surrendered to Kasnyia during the USNA War. Therefore, he and the Kasnyians are good friends. He pretends to like the Kasnyians more than he does because they could remove him from office at any time. But he is not Genesian and does not like Genesians. He is afraid that if he leaves office, LA will become a Genesian monarchy.

Malcom Jones is not a Genesian either (well, he wasn't. he converted, but really only in name). He openly supports Genesianism because the Genesians are the ones who can help him get power. They want Grey out, and because he says he supports Genesians, they want him in. But he doesn't really care about them either and will attack them just like Grey if they threaten his power.

If Grey wins, LA will remain very secular and the Genesians will still be marginalized.

If Jones wins, LA will be at least nominally Genesian. The Genesians will enjoy more widespread acceptance in LA.

OOC- Not if the Kasnyians have any say...Muhahaha... ;)

..No seriously.

Also, you really think, Nor, that Kasnyia would allow you to mistreat Genesians? You would have to take care of them well in order to remain on Kasnyia's good side anyway.
