Message from the Foreign Ministry: The Republic of Costa Tropical, having recently freed itself from the shackles of foreign rule and 'savage capitalism', hereby announces its intention to begin an international trade summit in the city of Santa Marta. We invite any nation willing to engage in fair socialist exchange and assistance to come celebrate the victory of the revolution. To coincide with the meeting, a parade and street festival will be held across the capital. Long live the international workers' struggle! Long live Costa Tropical! |

Our Government takes note of the decision of Costa Tropical. We hope to engage in healthy and cordial relations with them and thus suggest an exchange of embassies. A deal on tourism would also be much appreciated by our people. Christian Gaillac, Foreign Minister of the Empire of Great New France |

Eleytheria-Duo will establish official relations with the Republic of Costa Tropical, do note however, that our Nation is a Capitalistic society, we must sort our differences aside if we are to work together closely. Capitalism and Socialism can work together if you strive to make such a push, my relations with the Republic of Great New France are a fine example of a Capitalist and Socialist nation working side by side as Allies, Friends, and Neighbors. That said, we look forward to future cooperation between our two sovereign nations. Eleytherian Foreign Spokesman, Richard Aldersman |

While we are opposed to the Communist system, we are not opposed to opening relations with potential allies. We hope that our differences in economic opinion are no obstacle in the creation of friendly relations between our american states. |

As a former communist state we can say with pride, the grass is greener in the capitalist's yard. We hope that Costa Tropical may consider leaving behind socialism, but regardless of their choice, welcome them to the international community, and will gladly initiate trade with them. |

Santa Marta prepared feverishly for the summit; a celebratory air was already present thanks to the triumph of the FRN, but now the people would have to return to work to show their city's strength and wealth. Banners and flags waved in the breeze, the blue-white-blue of Costa Tropical standing in contrast to the red and black of the Revolutionary Front. In the city zocalo, or central square, the enormous national cathedral was renovated as rapidly as possible; workers cleaned the outer walls and brought in new furniture constantly in the days preceding the summit. Upon the opening of the meeting, the foreign dignitaries stood before a cheering mass of citizens and a line of discplined Presidential Guards while the national anthem played in the background. The summit was be kicked off by a philosophical yet inspiring speech from the liberation theologist Archbishop of Costa Tropical, Monseņor Juan Delgado-Meyoral (a clear attempt to express the nation's Catholic beliefs so as to keep the European states from becoming unfriendly). President Viega Sanchez was briefly introduced to the dignitaries, who were then ushered into the meeting room of the Presidential Palace. After sorting out the establishment of diplomatic relations, Viega got down to business: "Those of you who have expressed a willingness to trade with my nation: we possess only limited means to exploit our own natural resources. It would be an enormous step forward to assist us in the construction of more advanced agricultural machinery, mining and logging equipment, and oil refineries. I'm sure we could grant preferential trade with any country that could help us in these regards." |
