From the Office of Senate:

Yesterday, the People's Rights in Government and the Protection of the Constitution (PRGPC) Act was passed by Senate and signed into law by President Jason Essex. This act shall do the following:

Create a Supreme Court of eight members to review all Acts passed by Senate before they reach the President. This Court, made up of anonymous constitutional scholars and students of Kownnenian Libertarianism, Jeffersonian Democracy, and Freedhelmian Confederacy, must unanimously deem any act constitutional, or it will be struck down and not allowed to be made into law.

The PRGPC also creates a "People's Parliament" based on the Esternarxian Continental Congress. Anyone over the age of sixteen and an inhabitant of Durick Veta will be able to register at peoplesparliament.gov. There, citizens can propose new Acts. If these acts recieve at least 51% support from members of Parliament, who will vote online on each Act, will move on to Senate, where they will be voted on. If Senate approves the Act, it will than go to the Supreme Court and than possibly the President.

Thus, the Senate now has two duties: to create new Acts and approve Parliamentary Acts.

Esternarxians have mixed, but generally good feelings toward this move by the Vetan government.
