CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUM IN THE EMPIRE OF GREAT NEW FRANCE

A referendum will be organized on Saturday, 26th January 2007, on the question of whether constitutionally Great New France should retain its Imperial regime, or switch to a Republican one. His Majesty, Jean-François de la Tablière, has officially given his approval to such a referendum, and so has Parliament with a majority of 428 votes voting "YEA" out of a total of 509 votes. The referendum shall thus include the following question:

"Do you wish that Great New France retains constitutionally speaking its Imperial system, or that it becomes a Republic?"

The answers are either "YES", which means to retain the Empire, or "NO", become a Republic.

Results of the Constitutional Referendum are as follows:

"Do you wish that Great New France retains constitutionally speaking its Imperial system, or that it becomes a Republic?"

-YES: 52%
-NO: 48%

The Empire of Great New France, with for head of state, Emperor Jean-François de la Tablière, has thus been retained as it is.

Prime Minister Florent Andrzejewsky gave this reaction to the vote: "Our citizens have given their decision, and we take full notice and respect it entirely. Our Imperial system shall thus be retained, with his Majesty Emperor Jean-François de la Tablière as our head of state, as is spelled out constitutionally. We thank all our citizens for having voted and wish a good continuation to our political institutions".

Esternarx demands that the rights of the individual and of the minority be respected. Every individual has the right to rule himself. We demand that France allow the minority to secede and form a Republic if they see fit.

"I would like to remind the 'Confederacy' of Esternarx that they have no right to interfere in other Nations internal policies. Refrain from calling for revolution, you are already labeled a terrorist and rogue nation by many, do not prove them right."

"I would like to remind the Republic of Eleytheria that speaking one's mind is far from interfering with their internal policies. I merely want to ensure that the rights of the individual are protected. If 'revolution' is the only way to do so, then I strongly encourage it!"
