OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE NATIONAL ELECTORAL BOARD Elections will be held in the Empire of Great New France on Wednesday, 24th January 2007. These elections come after 5 years of uninterrupted leadership under Prime Minister Nicolas du Cresson de la Chardière. Political Parties that will take part to the legislative elections: -Union for a Popular Movement (UMP, centre-right, conservative) Posted Image -Socialist Party (PS, centre-left, social-democrat) -Republican Movement of the Citizens (MRC, centre-left, social-democrat, sovereignist) [electoral alliance between PS and MRC] -Left Radical Party (PRG, centre-left, social-liberal) [electoral alliance between PS and PRG] Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image -Union for a Great New French Democracy (UGDF, centre, centrist-liberal) Posted Image -Communist Party of Great New France (PCF, left-wing, communist) Posted Image -Green Party (Les Verts, centre-left, ecologist) Posted Image -National Front (FN, far-right, nationalist) Posted Image -Movement for a Cleaner Great New France (MPF, right-wing, nationalist, sovereignist) Posted Image -Workers' Struggle (LO, far-left, communist, trotskite) Posted Image -Revolutionary Communist League (LCR, far-left, trostkite, guevarist) Posted Image UMP Leader, Candidate: Prime Minister Nicolas du Cresson de la Chardière Posted Image The UMP stands for traditional conservative values, but they sparked quite a lot of controversy when Emperor Jean-François de la Tablière decided that it was not in the interest of Great New France to remain within the Holy League. It pledges to lower minimum wage, increase police presence in streets and expel all illegal immigrants. It will most probably continue the current policies, but also believes that privatisations have been insufficient and has proposed more cuts in taxes and privatisation of the healthcare service. Socialist Party Leader, Candidate: Florent Andrzejewsky Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image The Socialist Party stands for centre-left principles and values. It will stand in these legislative elections together with the Republican Movement of the Citizens and the Left Radical Party, that are formally in alliance with it. If elected, it will make organise a referendum on whether Great New France should become a Republic or not (which it supports). It will reverse most of the current policies of the UMP: re-legalise abortion, adultery, gay marriage and adoption, right for women to vote, etc. Defense wise, rumours have been heard that it will continue to support a Great New French nuclear deterrent and increase the number of ground troops. Economically speaking, it is not totally anti-capitalist, although does question some of the problems that a capitalist system produces. It supports a mixed economy model, which means a free market system but with the state intervening in the economy in a Keynesian way. It also strongly supports social welfare and that public services should firmly stay public (ie. public transportation, railways, etc). It also vows to abolish capital punishment as a party principle. It also pledges to continue the policy of unrecognition of the "United Kingdom of Israel" and publicly has declared that its support goes for the USOI resistance movements. It also vows to increase Great New French-Arab relations, as well as with the OPEMEC organisation. Union for a Great New French Democracy Leader, Candidate: Georges Kosmopoulos Posted Image The UDF positions itself as third party: it tries to convince voters that it wants to go beyond the traditional Left-Right division of politics between the UMP and the PS. It is traditionally Christian-democratic but is also opposed to merging religion and politics and thus supports the secular state, and has publicly vowed support for the government's decision to leave the Holy League which it claimed to be "corrupt" and "led by a megalomaniac leader". It thinks that religion should be a private matter but that moral and religious values shouldn't be forgotten by society. The economic policies proposed by UDF's leaders range from left-wing-leaning, in favor of social justice, to strongly laissez-faire economics. Similarly, the social policies range from the conservatism to more liberal policies, albeit the leadership of the party tends to be more liberal on social issues, as it does support the right for abortion of women. It is opposed to capital punishment. It is also known to have a strong pro-Israel group in it, and has pledged that it would recognise the United Kingdom of Israel as a sovereign state. Communist Party of Great New France Leader, Candidate: Patrick Marinkovic Posted Image It advocates communist policies to Great New France and supports the all-out nationalisation of all private companies. Since its past participation in a coalition government with the PS, it is however considered as a socialist party by its more far-left opponents such as the Workers' Struggle and the Revolutionary Communist League. It supports alter-globalization movements although it may sometimes also criticize them (in particular their lack of organization). Green Party of Great New France Leader, Candidate: Geoffrey Chiron Posted Image Les Verts (or The Greens) are an ecologist political party to the left of the political spectrum in Great New France. The Greens militate so that the society is changed gradually to a durable way of life by solving by the political action its social and environmental imbalances. The Greens are also distinguished from the other parties claiming ecology, “independent” or “of right-hand side”, who put back their policy on a change of the individual behaviors. The Greens consider on the contrary that a transition towards a bearable way of life must require efforts of everyone, and must thus call upon a strong political action and legislative modifications. It also militates for the suppression of all nuclear plants and opposes research in nuclear weapons. National Front Leader, Candidate: Mark Hanoteau Posted Image The Front National posts a comprehensive political platform on its website. Amongst other things it argues for: A continuation of the traditional values advocated by the UMP but going even further: paying women to stay at home and raise children; refusing "aberrant" cultures such as modern art and gay culture; promoting certain local traditional culture. It supports the institutionalisation of compulsary military service and advocates to rejoin the Holy League. It proposes to expel all illegal and legal immigrants and send them to nations around Africa. Economy wise, it supports the establishment of tariffs or other protectionist measures against cheap imports. It also campaigns so as that capital punishment includes more suspects, including child molesters, terrorists, drug dealers and gays or gay activists. On foreign policy, it supports the idea of totally having no relations whatsoever with Israel and supports the idea of a Palestinian state which would, in its eyes, be a possible vector to destroy Israel later. It also believes native members of Great New France should be expelled and sent to NAN. Movement for a Cleaner Great New France Leader, Candidate: Julian Knittel Posted Image The Movement for a Cleaner Great New France, or MPF, is a conservative, traditionalist and nationalist party. It is often seen as being close to the FN but it does not support the destruction of Israel, and as such is not branded as anti-semitic as the FN often is. On the contrary, it fully supports Israel and thinks that the real threat comes from Islamofascism, and believes that GNF should have a more agressive rhetoric against Islamic states by sending more troops to the Mideast. It also thinks that the Holy League is a useless organisation because it has shown its inability to fight Islamofascism and supported the idea that GNF leaved it. Comparatively, it promotes "zero immigration" such as the FN and believes that borders should be fully closed and a wall built at the GNF-Durick Vetan border. It proposes the expulsion of all illegal immigrants to Mideastern countries and supports the idea of a total ban on the Islamic veil. It also backs the idea that religion should be taught more extensively in schools and that children must go to Church with their respective schools. Workers' Struggle Leader, Candidate: Martin Chatel Posted Image Communist, internationalist, LO defends the principles of Trotskyism, in opposition to Stalinism. It proposes a federation of all workers so that they are able to fight back for their rights. It advocates the total overthrow of the "bourgeois system" and the instauration of the "dictatorship of the proletariat". It believes it is the only party that really sees itself as the continuation of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels' ideas and principles. It totally supports Marx's assumption that "proletarians don't have a nation". It thus advocates the abolition of all nations and supports the idea of the creation of new Internationale, and discussions with other trostkyite parties around the world for the foundation of a Global Communist State. Revolutionary Communist League Leader, Candidate: Benjamin Soubies Posted Image The LCR is a far-left, communist, marxist (majority being Trostkyite) party. It has more or less the same views as LO and strongly advocates the total abolition of capitalism. However, it does not support a permanent "dictatorship of the proletariat" like the LO but supports the idea that after the overthrow of the "bourgeois system", a transitional period is given to the application of a "Communist democracy", with a parliament but one party only, the LCR. It is also internationalist, like LO, and believes that the "Communist democracy" model should be applied on a global scale. It shares ideologically the principles of Trostkyism and Guevarism. |

We trust that these elections are fair, open, and do not result in the forceful ousting of the rightful Emperor, Jean-François de la Tablière. Eleytherian Foreign Relations Spokesman Richard Aldersman |

I didn't say anything about them being rigged. I am talking about the fact that Poole has ousted Romulus. You can not have a King and a President. And Poole has made himself president. |

OOC: Ah but Romulus is not yet King, he has not been given his crown -- sure the Pope has the authority to see to this, but with relations being a tangled mess, it's hard to know who to trust, if any of the JAUST Representatives seen Poole's behavior up close and personal, he would have been expelled from JAUST for being an unstable leader and his ass would be grass for the mowing. |

Everyone can have total trust that the elections shall be transparent and open. International observers are welcome to see for themselves that the result of those elections will reflect and only reflect the will of the people. Armand Altai, Director of the National Electoral Board |
