Well, might as well resurrect this thread. So, who do you think gonna win the World series, cup, playoffs, or whatever its called? My bet is that the American team is going to dominate. |

CLEVELAND ROCKS!
|
We're beating the Brits, that's all I know. Alright.. That isn't all I know, since my knowledge of soccer runs rather deep. A LOT of injuries these last couple weeks have really changed the landscape of some of the groupings... I'm pissed Drogba got hurt; after the US, I root for Germany, after that I root for Africa! Still a lot of athletes on the Elephants... Will be interesting to see what happens. Anyway, to win the whole thing? AMERICA. Yep, this team is a contender at the least... I've seen crazier things happen. ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ Stupid Brits. :smoking: |

It'd be nice, but it's not likely to happen. US will probably lose to the English on Saturday, beat Algeria and Slovenia, narrowly edging their way into the knockout stage. I think they lose to Germany in the first round of the knockout stage, but maybe they can edge the Germans without Ballack and make it to the quarterfinals against Argentina. Bracket is here. I've got the Netherlands beating Spain in the finals, with England beating Argentina for third place.
France doesn't really belong in the World Cup, no, but they got an easy group in the tournament, except for Mexico, which may be tough. I've got France taking first in group A, but Greece takes them down in the first round of the knockout stage. Edited by Aelius, Jun 10 2010, 11:09 PM.

Ballack is what makes Germany tick... They just aren't the same team without him. That said, I think mixing the style up a bit could help them... I want to see them get Podolski involved more. I'm ticked they didn't bring Metzelder along... Him and Mertesacker are a force in the back. Honestly, I don't think England over the US is a "probably." Make no mistake, this is far and away the best US team we've ever had... (See the Confederation's Cup last year) It should be a very competitive game... This is English squad is good, but they aren't that good. I'm hoping the youth of the US team compared to the Brits can cause issues late in the game.. The athleticism on the US back line could really frustrate England early. Edited by flumes, Jun 10 2010, 11:37 PM.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see the US beat England, and they've got a shot. I remember the Confed Cup last year, and the US choking away the game against Brazil in the second half. I'm watching with muted expectations, or I would be if I didn't have to work during the game. Damn Wal-Mart. |

The U.S. beat SPAIN! By 2 goals!!! SPAIN, who, like, hasn't lost a game in 1,000 years! Yes, this Team USA is good, very good, and could beat England, and will most certainly make it out to the knockouts. Maybe even to the Quarterfinals! Win the whole thing?? Well, I believe only seven countries in the world have ever won the whole thing - dems long odds. Anyway, I predict US scores early in the first quarter, a touchdown on the opening drive, and then holds on to win 17 - 14. Huh?? |
