Sadly, work on this has been slow. RP's that are just too good to pass up on here have gotten me sidetracked. Also, I'm at a bit of a writers block. So, all I have is this rough little peice, which I cant say I'm too pleased with. Anyways... try not to be too harsh. ----------------------------------------- Prolog 15 years before the Empire. The sun was setting on a small ranch. The ranch had stood the test of time and was well weathered. It was old and beaten, but still served its purpose. Its owners lived a simple life from day to day. They raised sheep, and various other animals. What they didn’t eat for the season, they sold to other locals. Occasionally some were stolen from vagabonds and other criminals. With the fall of nearly every government in the world, lawlessness was running rampant and to be expected. However, this small family had been doing moderately well and had a reputation for their kindness and deep beliefs. They were somewhat wealthy by comparison to many of the other ranches and people. Occasionally local bands of thugs and ex-military men came by to collect payment for their protection. They were paid in food, ammunition, and shelter for the night. Clothes for the cold season and salted food were the biggest concerns right now. Soon snow would begin to top the mountains to the west and colder winds would begin to sweep the land. A tall man stood outside, the sun accenting his features as it lowered behind the mountains. He was nearly six feet tall, his dusty brown hair looked a bit shaggy as it fell just beyond his ears. He was Asian in decent, though the features had been blurred over time. His father was American, or whatever the fallen states now called themselves, and his Mother was Japanese. Though rumor had it that they were now called the Kiro Tao. It had only been 50 years since the collapse of nearly every major government, and times were tough. But, Jodo would keep doing his best for his friends and family. It was all he knew and all he cared for. “Jodo! Dinner is about ready. Come inside and clean up.” His mother called from the doorway of their small house. He smiled as he turned. “Be right there! I have to finish up some work in the barn. I’ll only be a few minutes.” He called back. He knew his father would be angry if he didn’t clean the stalls and feed the horses before dinner. He had fallen behind after digging the post holes in the field. ‘Ah well, it could be worse’ he thought to himself. As he entered their barn he knew he had his work cut out for him. The smell of manure and horse filled the air. He had nearly fifteen stalls to clean, and only a few minutes to do it in. His father would yell at him later. Outside the rumble of a jeep could be heard in the distance. Jodo assumed it was the Andersons visiting. They were concerned about the local militias acting up and getting too greedy, and had been talking to his father for the past few nights about the injustice of it all. Inside the house however was a different scene. Judy, Jodo’s mother was just putting the finishing touches on a roast she had been preparing. Martin, the Father was in the living room putting away his rifle after a small hunting trip in the woods. He was angry that game in recent months had been below average, but he supposed that it couldn’t be helped. They didn’t have any supermarkets likes his father before him had. No police, or firemen. They had none of the ‘modern’ wonders that had been stripped away. The approach of the jeep hadn’t gone unnoticed by Martin either. He stopped what he was doing and peered out a window. “Huh. Looks like the Andersons jeep. I’ll go see what they want dear.” Judy said nothing as Martin went outside to see what was going on. As he stepped out into the yard, the jeep skidded to a halt. It was then that Martin realized that it was not in fact one of the Andersons driving. The jeep itself looked like it had been through a war zone. Bullet holes were too numerous to count, and a slight trail of smoke followed it. Militia men exited the jeep and laughed to each other as they approached. “What can I do for you boys?” Martin asked. It was weeks before the militia men were due to come around these parts, and the sudden appearance of some had him worried. “We’re here to take what we please old man. These lands belong to our faction. We’ve gone to war with the Hellions to the south, and as such we’re using this farm and the other pile of crap to the east as our headquarters. We’ll be taking all the horses, gasoline, food, and anything else we might need. In fact, We’ll take her too!” One of them said as he gestured to the house. Judy was in the doorway looking out with concern. “Whoa now. We can’t just pack up and leave out whole life behind because you boys have decided to kill some others down south! And I sure as hell wont be giving my WIFE to anybody. You can take some food, and a few horses, and whatever gas we can spare… but you will not take our home or my wife!” Martin said with an edge in his voice. “Honey?” Martin turned to look at his wife standing in the door. It was the last thing he ever saw. One of the militia men pulled a pistol and whipped him in the back of the head. “We’ll take whatever we want, asshole!” Martin went down to his knees and held his head. He pulled one hand away, eyes going wide at the sight of blood. Then his world ended as the same militia man fired a round into his skull. Judy screamed once, and ran to his side. Jodo heard the shot and the scream from the barn. By the time he got to the barn doors, a second shot sounded. As he rounded the side of the barn and the house came into view he knew something was wrong. His heart stopped as he saw his mother and father dead on the lawn. |

Ahh, did you have to kill them? I hate that. Good writing, however. Also, you don't have to write linierly - if you think of a good scene, write it down, even if it is years in the future. You then will catch up to it, and even have a target, which helps. Sometimes, when I am writing a play, I write the final scene first, to maintain consistancy. |

As a story it is good, although it was a bit strange reading it because your timeline is so different from mine. But it was nice to get to know Jodo a little more, and get a glimpse into what motivated him. I was surprised to learn his ethnic background. I am looking forward to meeting his wife, or whoever the mother of Samantha Lucent was! |

NH: I didnt think of that. And it seems like a very good idea. I'll start doing that. Also, yea... I didnt like the killing part either. But I couldnt figure out what to do with them in the long run, as Jodo has never shown any sign of parents. And their death in this way makes for a very good motivation to stabilize the region with a government. Nor: I havent actually decided how I want his wife to be/turn out like. But, thats a little ways off. Jodo still needs to begin working on forming the Assassination Army first, his Catholic background, and things of that nature. |

Point 1: It would be awesome if Jodo didn't have parents at all and simply showed up one day out of nowhere. Point 2: Just because you've quit NS doesn't mean you're off the hook for this novel. I was promised a free book, and I expect to recieve it. |

Ah yes. I've used this excuse many times. Many, many, many, many times. "Other things to do!" Yes, sounds really familiar. Probably why the book I've been working on since 1979 is still a "work in progress." |

When you publish that I want a copy. As your work in progress is as old as my parents have been married. For lulz sake obviously. Hell I'm only on page 68 of my book that I have been working on since December, please note I've been planning the story for about one to two years and making notes on said story. As you know it takes me a long time to write anything. See all of my damnable unfinished RPs. |
