OOC: While technically those are my first elections in Sahndaq, the old parliament was made while Sahndaq was a colony of Quaon (how I had a colony I don't know because I was land locked). It was democratically elected. And really, if you don't invade lands of us or other nations, we can be quite friendly!

OOC: I've been trying to balance my ties with Sahndaq and GNF without damaging my relations with either one, but thats hard to do sometimes and with GNF as my neighbor & ally I do have a higher calling towards him than Sahndaq, so...

Bah, it complicates alot of things ... Anyway GNF start posting some news so you can blow past all this OOC Talk, dont let the news station become a chat room.

EDIT: After reading that whole last news article, teenagers build a plane from scratch? In a wasteland in the dead of winter there? Are you mad, friend?

News Flash with Pierre Méhaignerie

Hello everyone,

here's quick news flash. A compromise has finally been found between the Confederate forces and the Catholics in Texarado. This means that war has officially come to an end with a ceasefire.

And we learn that just right now a conference is being held at the JAUST HQ where both parties including JAUST nations are trying to step up efforts to find a viable solution to this conflict.

Here's with me Andrea Torelli, expert in Texarado affairs:

Pierre Méhaignerie: Andrea, do you think that a real compromise will be the outcome of this conference?

Andrea Torelli: Well Pierre, I think we're on the right track. I think both sides have had enough of war. People just want peace, enough to eat, to live, and have a bit of fun. And those rights have long been denied to them, so it's logical that they'd be ready for a real peace at last.

Pierre Méhaignerie: How do you react to the Catholics' insistance in getting a hold on Fort Lee?

Andrea Torelli: Fort Lee is a strategically important area. It's normal the Catholics want it because they could use it for a variety of purposes, including military. I sincerely believe that the fact that Texaradonians have become more faithful and area ready to follow Genesian Catholicism is a sincere display of unity and a call for cohesion in their society. Let's not forget that faith can keep that country united, and let's all pray it does.

Pierre Méhaignerie: Thanks a lot for all those precisions Andrea. Now, after a short commercial break, I'll talk to you abouta new showdown against Scythirus in the African Continent: The Assassination Army and Velorya have declared their readiness in confronting Scythurians who've been very much on the spot light lately. More after the break, stay tuned...

Special News Flash...

Welcome to this special news flash and breaking news now from the National Space Agency where its Director, Jean-Pierre Castaldi is giving a speech:

"dear friends,

it's with a lot of enthusiasm and impatience that I'd like to announce hereby a future mission by our Nation that has not been undertaken by anyone as of yet. Our Nation will send astronauts on the moon to set up a base for further scientific research of our satellite. They intend to work all along for our glorious science, to further it as much as possible, and for all of humanity of course.

The details of the mission will be made known in the future, this mission is set to begin in a few weeks, the date of the departure having not been as of yet decided fully between us and the government. I will keep you up to date on the astronauts who will take part to such an amazing adventure and will tell you more about it later."

OOC: Yep. Norightsia I know for sure. Ironfish and myself have a space station (with hidden weapons of course. Heh.) There is already a moonbase there. You may want to attempt to con Norightsia into helping you out since he already has an established base there. Plus, I think your allies correct? B)

IC: "This is wonderful news. The Assassination Army offers its space station as a refueling point and staging area for this moonbase attempt. We are also interested in a possible joint operation between our governments since a moonbase has been an interest of ours for some time now."

Evening News with Pierre Méhaignerie

Good Evening,

here are the lastest news.

His Majesty Emperor Jean-François de la Tablière has announced today that Great New France will cease being a party to the Holy League. He made the announcement at 14:00 PM from the Palace, an announcement which has been aired on various channels including international ones. Reactions across the world and at home vary to the Emperor's decision. There was cheers and enthusiastic support in the streets of the Assassination Army and Eleytheria-Duo, outrage and disbelief in the streets of Catholic Europe and Velorya.

At home, according to a latest poll, it seemed as if the majority of the people backed the Emperor's decision: 88% of those interrogated believed it was the appropriate decision to take. At Parliament, Socialists, Communists and the opposition all unanimously welcomed it, claiming that "Great New France had at last recovered its old glory and freedom".

We know receive our special guest of the evening news, and our guest today is Professor Yves Andry-Curie, director of the Atomic Energy Commission:

Pierre Méhaignerie: Professor, according to the Emperor's speech regarding Great New France's withdrawal from the Holy League, he pointed out to the project of the government to increase aid in both financial and logistical terms to your organism. He also pointed out to the necessity for Great New France to have a nuclear arsenal as well as a "WMD" arsenal. Can you give us any more precisions on what are the reasons for that, and if the withdrawal from the Holy League has something to do with it?

Professor Yves Andry-Curie: Well, Pierre, it's a tough question but I'll try to answer it in an easy and straightforward way. We met with the Emperor a few days ago and we had come to the conclusion that it was in our Nation's best interest, strategically speaking, to acquire nuclear supremacy. There are multiple reasons for this decision: increased threat coming from rogue states all across the world, terrorist activity that could danger our national interests, and so on. Now, as you pointed out in your question, our Nation had in a certain way lost its ability to fully defend itself whilst it was in the mentioned organization. It will now have a fully independent defence, in full cooperation with our allies from JAUST of course, and we all have come to agreement that a nuclear as well as broader strategic arms arsenal would be of most use for our security and defence, but also for the security and defence of all our allies.

Pierre Méhaignerie: Do you have any precisions at how many warheads will actually be built? And the cost of this project?

Professor Yves Andry-Curie: The number of tactical and strategic warheads that will be manufactured will most probably be around 350-450. That's the set target that we came to agreement with our Emperor, in concertation with the Council of Ministers and Parliament. There will thus be two different types of missiles of long range built: about 225 Surface-to-Surface missiles (codenamed "Pluton" strategic missiles) which will be kept mostly in silos, and another 225 Submarine launched ballistic missiles codenamed "MX240" and "MX245", and as their name goes they will be loaded in tactical submarines at various locations. Now, concerning the cost of the whole project, we have been granted by Parliament $50 billion to fully and successfully realize our project. That is indeed a lot of money, and make no mistake, special attention and care will be made to this money, for the safety of all of us.

Pierre Méhaignerie: Well, thanks a lot for all these precisions, Professor. That's it for today, Good night to you all.
