OOC: The way you just worded that you did a perfect job in persuading the world that you just opened up one of the biggest propaganda stations the world has to offer ... |

OOC: The idea is to conceal your propaganda network as a fair and balanced one, not give it away by being too formal or too aggressive ... You might as well throw your whole propaganda campaign out the window if you give it away that easy, because no one will believe your side of the story over the other guys. Trust me I studied tons of books on making good propaganda. |

Hmm ok, we'll see... I did one year of journalism, when thinking of propaganda, I think of many journalists who like to do auto-censorship, or who only show one side of a story or an event... One thing is for sure, there's no such thing as absolute objectivity. |

OOC: That would be the best definition of propaganda yes, but since this is "International" you need to be more cunning than just tell your side of the story, otherwise you would have to be retarded not to catch on to the plot. What I mean is, to slightly tip the story more towards GNF's view without taking it too far and being obvious, make your side more believable or more well constructed than the other guys without it really being logically visible. The idea is essentially to brainwash him/her without the man/woman even knowing that (s)he being brainwashed, that is legal in these forums isn't it? |

The following nations are blocking all broadcasts from GNF News 24: New Harumf The Knight Hospitalars Atlantis Primary The Amish Children have no radios or televisions, so they don't care. The Lambda League always enjoys a good laugh, so they are having comedians do a voice over commentary during the broadcasts. |

They watch what the government tells them to watch, with the exception of Atlantis Primary. It blocks all government sponsered news programs out of general principle. |

Draxis has blocked this channel, though fears of this breeching free speech were laid to rest because the channel is unabashed about declaring itself the largest propaganda station the world has to offer. Sennar has limited the stations broadcast range as to that it can only be aired at French garrisons. While Sahndaq news network remains unblocked though heavily censored. |

Eleytheria-Duo maintains a free network and allows both Sahndaqi and New French news to broadcast openly, however a cautionary statement upon both networks is displayed to warn viewers of a possible biased reporting. Always true to our word, Foreign Relations Woman Willow Heraclitus |

OOC: Pretty much. Local news is basically propoganda (not for someone per se, but basically telling you CHANGE IS BAD). International News has to at least have a facade of being non-biased. And by the way, SNN is a national channel that just reports on international news to keep its viewers informed. |

Latest News with Pierre Méhaignerie Welcome, ladies and gentlemen to this edition of the news around the world. The Bessentian Republic has set up a new colony in the South American continent yesterday, a decision which has sparked some controversy and opposition from the Brazilean Confederacy. JAUST allies have called for calm and asked Bessentia to be careful with its moves. Didier Leroy, Advisor to Foreign Minister Mélanie Argimon, had this to say to GNF News 24: "Well, definitely, we have here a tricky situation. Bessentia, one of our allies, have decided to set up a colony in the South American continent. We approve of their actions, but we call for calm and serenity, it would be disastrous and foolish that the Brazilean Confederacy might go to war with Bessentia over this: we think it's in everyone's interest that Bessentia does not go to war with them and that they sign a bilateral treaty of friendship and non-aggression, as Mélanie said yesterday". That was Didier Leroy. Meanwhile, in Parliament in Nouvelle-Paris, some outcry at this decision from the Communist Party of Great New France. One of its MPs, Alain Gerra, has called on Bessentia to be suspended and I quote, "Let them be suspended from the JAUST Treaty Organization: they're foolish enough to go and invade any country on Earth, and let us leave such a ridiculous organization as well and help our Socialist brothers who are being massacred in Eleytheria-Duo". Socialist Party Pierre Albertini had a more nuanced position: "We applaud Bessentia's expansion and do not see anything wrong with it, albeit we call for it to act with caution and intelligence: a conflict with the Brazileans would be disastrous for both Bessentia and Brazil, but also JAUST as a whole. That is why we support the idea of a treaty of friendship and non-aggression, as spelled out by Foreign Minister Mélanie Argimon". In other news, Sahndaq is holding elections, which many observers believe, could be rigged: here is our political analyst, Thierry De La Rue for more, Anchor: Thierry, so are these the first elections in Sahndaq? Thierry De La Rue: Indeed, they are Pierre. I believe there is a big chance they will be rigged though, we will follow very closely how they work out. Anchor: What are the implications for the greater Middle East? Does it have any effect on them? Thierry De La Rue: Well, I does in a sense: the fact that the Sahndaqi people are voting the first time is already an improvement in matters pertaining to democracy and human rights, but you know how minorities are treated despicably there, especially the Genesian Catholics, which teeter under the brink of extinction by massive persecutions and being tortured at the hands of the government. Anchor: But, is there any chance a democratic or more liberal party wins these elections? Thierry De La Rue: I suspect the gang of Mr. Ladden will win those elections, he seems to be already leading in the polls, and considering the very likeliness of irregularities, he will probably come first. On its consequences to the Middle East, it will surely mean a continuation really, Mr. Ladden has shown himself to be especially close to Paradise, Al Araam and other theocratic Muslim states. He has also shown his total opposition to any European or Western infringement into the affairs of the Middle East, as could be seen with the recent Socotra Island incident. Anchor: Does Mr. Ladden has any influence in the current standoff between the Israelis and the Palestinians? Thierry De La Rue: He surely has, but a more negative one, in terms of trying to achieve peace between both parties. He's virulently criticized the Israelis for what he perceives as violations of human rights against Palestinians. He's more or less on the line of major Middle Eastern powers such as Paradise and Al Araam, in that respect. Anchor: One last word, is GNF News 24 will be viewed across the Middle East? Thierry De La Rue: I believe it will, it depends from those states really, most of them are under authoritarian if not despotic regimes, so everything's possible. (Laughs) Anchor: Thanks a lot Thierry, a commercial break now, and when we return, we'll tell you about a special story in Eleytheria-Duo, where teenagers have built their own plane from scratch, stick around... |
