OOC- Grumble, grumble...fiiiine..

IC-

They were pissed. One of the Scythiran squads had made a small but deep bust through the line, and they were mucking up the works.

The local commander decided to take off the white gloves so to speak. They took a captured Scythiran tank, drove it dressed up as Scythiran troops, and went straight at their line. At first the Scythirans didn;t try to fight, thinking they were one of their own...but it was soon apparant that whomever was inside their tank was attemopting to cut the supply line...with the breach head being entirely isolated in the proccess. They fought hard, like desperate men, but the tank, which had long started recieving back up from Kasnyian forces in the surrounding buildings, had sideswiped them entirely. Now what was once the squad making a mess of the Kasnyian forces, were now stuck in a 4 by four block area, guarding nothiong with dwindling supplies.

Meanwhile, not only did the lines manage to hold...but with the river division now in place, they started to push them back. They were fighting dirty too, as they were now aiming for the base of buildings rather than at the enemy, allowing the tumbling brick and masonry do the job of their artillery and bullets, saving them time and ammunition. The few tanks that had by LUCK managed to get past teh defenses were now being encroached. Soon enough, the crew inside the tanks either went Kamikaze (usually only killing themselves rather than make any dent...though a few times they had managed to dent thel lines significantly).

As for the perimeter defenses, they were calling for Harumfian support, because, while on the heavy street to street battle, the Kasnyians were holding on their own, without relief from an offensive to keep them occupied, it was proving difficult, though still doable...most of their problems were at the outskirts, which had been all but obliterated by bombing and tank fire.

Once again, the rousing cry of not allowing them to pas was heard across the line, and once again their morale went to boost. As good as the Scythirans were, the Kasnyian forces in the city had been there long enough that they knew it like the back of their hand. It was almost like homefield advantage.

The blood rage was only building too....

Lord Protector Walter continued to fight from the roof of his palace. The rest of the extended royal family was in the deep chambers beneath him, and he vowed to himself to fight till he dropped, or repelled the invasion.

An aide rushed to him. "Lord, General Poole."

"What?", said the Protector, as he fired more artillary rounds.

"General Poole is in command of the forces left to defend the city, and he refuses to bring his command south from their northern positions."

"I'll have that traiter bastard's head!" screamed Walter. Suddenly, a plane passed overhead, straffing the roof. The aide dived for cover, but Walter just stood his ground, pulled out his side arm, and started firing at the plane. Bullets flew left and right of the Prince, but he didn't budge. When the aircraft flew off, Walter turned to see his Aide writhing in pain on the rooftop, having taken several hits to his upper body and lower torso. Walter looked at him, and fired a single shot to his head, ending his pain. Then he, and the other men went back to their guns.

Purely coincidental, unless you'd like it otherwise.

Coded Message from General Poole of New Harumf to the Scythiran High Command

I will keep my troops in reserve in the north until you have taken out the palace. In return, I want you to support me as military commander of New Harumf. If you agree, we stay put. If you do not, we join the battle. Please advise.

You have yourself a deal, good man. We thank you graciously for the opening you offered us in the southern suburbs. You will be greatly rewarded for your valiant efforts here. We are glad that even New Harumf's military leaders see the evils of the Royal Family.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scythirus' advances in the south of Dodoma were haulted completely due to the Kasnyians' tactical wits. Though not a hard line of fortication, the Scythirian advance danced back and forth, back and forth as ground was both lost and gained. Urban battle rattled the southern suburban area of Dodoma, citizens hiding in their homes to avoid truly horrible fates. The Scythirian numbers versus the Kasnyian ingenuity had both sides at an effective stalemate.
Something needed to be decided quickly by Scythirus' military commanders. So far this invasion had seen success, after succes, and they would not accept failure now. Was it time to bring in the Death Shock now? Some of the commanders disagreed, saying it was still too soon to use them in this battle. It was ultimately decided that they would still wait.
...And then the idea came to them and was quickly acted upon.
A lone tank filled to the brim with a highly corrosive mixture of lethal chemicals was rolled into an area where the Scythirians still believed there was another Kasnyian anti-tank trap. The tank rolled through the streets, seemingly out on a overconfident prowl to observers. The drivers within were the bravest they could find among the army ranks, willing to try this suicide mission. They knew they would die, but their deaths would cause the Kasnyians a lasting problem as well.
Finally the tank stumbled into a trap, surrounded by tumbling cement debris that the Kasnyians had gathered. It was believed that this would be another capture for the Kasnyians, but suddenly the tank detonated and the deadly gasses within released. Boils, sores, and welts opened up, being among other health problems that were caused by the chemical attack.
The Kasnyian commander felt like he just got slapped in the face when he heard about the chemical weapons they had begun to use. Luckily for them, apart from the defenders in that particular area (about 2 blocks wide), the rest of the defenders had gotten the word and immediately donned on their gear. Of ocurse, it made it sweltering hot in there, but they would rather be sweaty than have boils.
The stalemate continued on in all it's bloody glory.
The Kasnyians decided to enact a small little offensive on their own, if only to let the Scythirans feel the effects of their own weapons. Immediately, Kasnyian soldiers went on the prowl for another one of those nerve agent tanks. Upon finding one, they stealthily seized it..
Soon they drove it in to one of the makeshift Scythiran command posts, doing nothing to arouse attention, parked it, and then left, leaving a c4 charge right next to the chem tanks.
A few moments later, the command post was covered in the same bright blue subsnatce that they had launched onto the Kasnyian positions, killing a good amount of the surronding soldiers, and even allowing the Kasnyians to advance a few blocks before they hit stalemate again.
Scythirus took great blows when Kasnyia had found a way to turn its own Trojan Horses against itself. No advances were being made, and greater damage had been made when part of the command staff had been affected by its own nerve agent. Scythirus could not bare this stalemate any longer. The Death Shock had to be sent in immediately.
The black-clad troops were brought into the front lines, the familiar skull symbol adorning the shoulders, left breasts, and combat helmets of their uniforms. The Death Shock rolled in through the cities in their infantry transports, or marched on foot through the streets. This would be the first time that Kasnyia had faced the Death Shock, but only the third time that New Harumf had faced them in this entire war.
At first the Kasnyians had laughed at the Scythirians so boldly rolling into well defended areas, but then their laughing had broken into stunned silence. They realized that these were not ordinary men they were fighting, as they advanced faster than they were suppose to when one counts in the effects of casualties among their comrades. It was often normal practice to stop and aid the fallen in most conventional militaries, but these Death Shock were different. They just kept coming, ignoring the bodies of their fallen comrades as if it were just debris.
The Death Shock killed without qualm or hesitation, their missions only consisting of utterly annihilating the enemy forces. For the first real time in the stalemate, the Kasnyian side was beginning to fall due to their unprepared approach towards Scythirus' highly lethal Death Shock troops.
OOC: I plan to have a strong force of Death Shock to eventually discover the unguarded river position.
OOC- Yeah, The river position will be pretty much abandoned all the way to the Palace.
IC-
The Kasnyians hadn't prepared for this. They themselves had no KASOC (Kasnyian Army Special Operations Command) support to counter the Death Shock, and their infantry was getting tired. The Kasnyians decided to catagorize them into two groups. Those that had come in on infantry carriers, and those who were on foot. Snipers would concentrate on the on-foot group, along with heavy machine gun fire to cut them down. Those in transports and IFVs would have explosive power concentrated on them, as well as the anti-tank traps.
In either case, it was soon apparant the the first line of defense was starting to falter, and most of the units were being called back to the second line, to have a fresh defense against these elite forces. So long as they could keep them busy, they would not bother with a flank, which was what they were fearing right now...
They were there. The enemy was at the foot of the palace. Now, the vats of melted lead were brought forward and dropped on the troops at the gate. The Palace's last efforts for defense were in play.
OOC: Time to storm the palace, and kill everyone, if you ask me!
The Death Shock troops continued their blood-frenzied charge at the Kasnyian defense. Better advances were being made at last through the southern suburbs of Dodoma. The bestial warriors slayed their enemies with zealous efficiency, blasting Kasnyian troops with machine gun fire and flamethrowers. Soldier and citizen were slaughtered alike without discrimination. It seemed like an almost unstoppable wave of death.
Then Kasnyia would try to formulate another plan to bolster its flailing defense. Drastic measures were to be taken....
The Kasnyian Commanders knew that the Scythirans were on their last legs for this particular battle if they had already brought out the Death Shock. And though the DS were making fair progress past the first line (and stalemated against the second line, though with more Kasnyian casualties), they were losing troops too quickly to be viable enough to make a dent against the Palace Guards, who were as good if not better than the Death Shock. And so they started thinking of other plans that they could do.
The Kasnyians themselves on the other hand, were ordering the few tanks they had brought in to help expand the second line and catch the Death Shock off guard, regaining territory in the process. As for what little remained of the first line, they were now huddled up in small buildings, taking potshots at the incoming enemy. They would not allow these murderous barbarians over take this dustbowl of a city.
The Death Shock fought valiantly as it charged against Dodoma in surging numbers. However as the Kasnyians began studying their tactics, the elite warriors were a tiny bit easier to fight but still significantly difficult. Blood poured across the streets, and several Scythirian generals were reminded of the bloody battle for Abu-Dahbi in the Second War of Succession. Thousands upon thousands of men had died in that difficult conflict for Scythirus' port city.
When snipers were taking out troops from higher areas, the Death Shock stormed the buildings to annihilate any enemy presence found there. Most succeeded, some did not. Still, this battle was taking its toll on Scythirus' available resources for this seige. The next supply run was not due until morning the following day, yet little progress was being made.
Thus the generals were racking their brains while unbeknowest to all, two Death Shock staff sergeants leading their respective platoons discovered the unguarded river. A hole in the city's armor had been found at last.
OOC: Not so fast... you must contend with the Beta Base.
IC:
Chagos Arch. A chain of Islands in the Indian Ocean directly south of the Indian sub-continent. The Scythirian Beta Base was fully functional now, and a small fleet of Scythirian ships patrolled its waters. Thus their radar was able to pick up the approach of ships from Chirondom.
Immediately the fleet was organized to intercept and engage the enemy vessels. They had every intent to purge these Catholic scumbags from the face of the ocean.
