OOC: Damn, how homoerotic!!

OOC: I was holding a mental image of a Rob Liefeld drawing while describing the character.

IC:

The division of Death Shock fought until their deaths. While the army died to its last, it had succeeded in devastating the CHOG ranks with crippling casualties. Where there had once been tens of thousands, there were now much less. Any assault against Dar es Salaam would surely end in disaster now. Although dead, the division of Death Shock troops that fought here had succeeded in their mission, they had died doing what they were trained to do.

By the time the CHOG had eliminated the last traces of the Death Shock Division, they had suffered 54% casualties. By the time the battle had become hopeless for the Scythirans, that number had been only 38%. The Death Shock just kept fighting and fighting. The immense number of casualties killed the offensive. They had emerged victorious, but at the cost of innumerable soldiers. They would have to regroup. It would take nearly a week to process and transport the wounded. They would advance again at the end of that time, but they doubted it would be timely enough to help anything.

Hearing of the Veloryan victories had been heartening to the Kasnyian forces currently fortified in Dodoma, fending off the occasional air strike from North Florida. Soon they too would have stories to tell...

They won, didn't they? If you win, it's a victory. Velorya FTW!

Dodoma was under siege. All troops in the eastern theater had retreated within the confines of the city, and were positioning around the palase and it's extensive grounds, when word came from the high command:

"All commanders: The main Scythian push is coming from the north. The troop movements you detect in the south are false, and represent a minor portion of their assult. All defenses are to move north to face the major assult. Two divisions of Urban Marines will remain south. That is all."

Lord Protector Walter stood atop the sky tower and watched as the majority of his army moved north. Suddenly, there was a break in the clouds, and he could see to the south, and saw hundreds of thousands of Scythiran forces massing for an attack. He gasped in surprise, and ran down the steps to the heavy artillary on the palace roof. "I am taking command. Turn all weapons south, and open fire."

It was too little, too late, as the main army of the enemy attacked against a poorly defended position, but he never left the guns.

OOC: Can anyone tell me which president of the United States actually took command of an artillary unit to protect the capital?

Whomever was president during the war of 1812...

IC-

The Kasnyian forces were not going to let go of the city. While the Harumfians were charged with pushing them out, the Kasnyians would handle the defenses so that the enemy could not come in.

It was gonna be a long day.

OOC: I don't recall, but it would seem New Harumf has a traitor in its midst.

IC:

While Morogoro was turned into a blazing inferno of death by a portion of Scythirus' bomber fleets, another branch of its army finally joined Florida in its assault on Dodoma. This was the largest assault in the war it had sent since the week it invaded Dar es Salaam. And due to a tactical error formed from defending military's intel on Scythirus' movements, Scythirus was able easily seize the southern position of Dodoma.

Whoever it was that screwed up the intelligence on Scythirus' movements was praised among its generals. Hopefully such a faulty mistake would allow an easier victory at this city.

He brought his troops over when they were freed up from other military action. He doesn't want to spread his troops out too thinly, unlike some... :P

What, I only have two wars goin on, one of which is a single garrison that hasn't had to do too much until just now.

Strategic engineering, ain't it a beauty?

You were in this war simultaneously with the American and Shambalan wars, as well as having sent troops with the Crusade and in the war against Sakha.

I withdrew the troops in Sakha just prior to the war, the men who had been ent to the crusades were civillians, and Shambala force was about as large as the one in Dodoma....

OOC: I asked the question, dummy. I already knew the answer!

IC: How the Chirondom troops wound enter the theater was a real concern, but the Lord Protector was happy to hear of it. He looked south from his position on the roof of the palace's great hall, and saw the enemy in fierce battle with the Kasnyia army, fighting block by block, but moving slowly toward the palace grounds.

New Harumfian Armor was moving south, but too slow to stop the onward march of the barbarians from the north. Who betrayed him? Who started the rumor of the Scythiran push coming from the north? He might never live to find out, he thought. Be he would not surrender.

With that thought, he ordered the artillary to keep up their fire, and barked out angles and vectors to get the best effect from the shells.

The Kasnyians were utterly bewildered. The Harumfians were going in the opposite direction of the enemy...but they couldn't..wouldn't retreat. Not here, right?

Either way, the Kasnyians kept at the defense. They were holding on pretty well, but with Harumfian units going in haphazard directions, they couldn't stave off the pressure quick enough. Soon enough the river defenses in the west would have to be recalled to help bolster up the city...but that left that particular flank dangerous to attack.....

I'm taking American History. :D

IC: The CHOG was still regrouping when news arrived of Dodoma's coming under siege. The commanders were shocked and panicking. Morogoro had fallen before they could arrive to bolster the defenses, and now the capital was in grave danger. They didn't have time to regroup and they didn't have time to march down river. Luckily, the Scythirans were no longer in this area, but now the CHOG had to pus through the treacherous swamp. It was clear that pending a miracle, they would not arrive in time to help Dodoma. But they were going to make a break for it anyways.

The Medean garrison in Morogoro was barely hanging on. Vastly outnumbered by the Scythiran troops, and totally without Harumfian airsupport, it was clear that if they tried to hold the road and slow Scythirus down, they would be obliterated. So they retreated into more defensible parts of the city, where they could much more easily defend themselves. They would be basically forfeiting any chance at hurting Scythirus's Dodoma siege, but they would stay alive, able to keep fighting and keep harassing Scythirans in the city. If the Battle of Dodoma suddenly turned, and the Scythirans were forced back, these troops could prove an invaluable asset in retaking the city.

The Kasnyian Commander was in blood lust, as was the whole lot of them. They. would. not. Take the city...

"HOLD YOUR LINES MEN! THE ENEMY SHALL NOT TAKE THIS CITY! FOR TONIGHT! TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!!!!"

With that rallying call, they engaged their first line of defenses: The tank traps. Within an hour, the majority of the enemies tanks had been utterly destroyed, with the rest being taken care of (read: seized) by Kasnyian fighters. And as a plus they hadn't taken into account, they still had anti-tank traps left over. Good, in case they tried another armored assault.....

Scythirus was not stupid and began to immediately notice the losses it was taking in armor. Somehow the damned Kasnyian Devils had fixed the urban infrastructure to work against them. A mistake they would not continue to overlook. Further advances of tanks were ordered to hault, and the tanks that were well past most of the traps from some stroke of pure luck were told to remain where they were and maintain positions of control while infantry stormed through.

Drastically outnumbering the Kasnyian defenders due to the nation's military being spread throughout the world instead of concentrated in certain areas like Scythirus' was, Scythirus' troops managed to push against the resistance with blood-furied persistance. But the blood bath was not to begin completely yet, since Scythirus hadn't even sent in its reserve of Death Shock fanatics yet... the generals were waiting for something more difficult before playing that card again. Nevertheless, the average Scythirian fought almost as valiant and fanatically as their elite division. This was a mission from their Emperor, seize Dodoma and kill the New Harumfian Royal Family.

Kasnyia's generals may have repeated "keep them out of the city" like a holy mantra, but it became obvious they were already starting to lose the southern suburbs.

Morogoro, on the other hand? Only death could be found there now. Scythirian bombs continued to drive ruined structures and rubble even lower towards the ground. There was practically nothing left of the city anymore, and might have appeared the victim of a nuclear blast had it not been knowledge that an extensive series of conventional bombs caused this devastation. The Medeans were fighting a losing battle.
