Stephan was left steaming in rage over his father's decision. "I'll get back at you for this, old man." he whispered in a tone too low for the King to hear as he walked away. "We'll see who has the last laugh." |

OOC- The Catholics and Orthodoxy are rioting in the capital and in some of the other cities. The rest of the country is good, but with alot of tension. As a result, the King is going to make both religions equal in the eyes of the Kasnyian government, which is popular with the people but has angered the nobility, who are also divided between Cathjolic and Orthodoxy. The whole thing is being orchestrated by the kings sons and the members of the Bouze Family, the most powerful of the Catholic families in Kasnyia. Also, the King (in order to establish himself as a fair and unbiased rule) has turned to Calvinism. |

Patriarch Mathias was dismayed. Their King had left the ark of the salvation for a human-invented sect. In the name of what, peace? While an end to violence was a positive goal, this was an indication that the King viewed secular matters as of greater importance than his immortal soul. He had tried to speak to the King but there was no convincing the man. He had hardened his heart against God, and Patriarch Mathias could asy nothing to him. Nevertheless, if this could end the scandalous fighting, it would show that even in man's sin, God wrought glory in the earth. |

It had worked. The violence had collapsed in upon itself, with not so much as an argument over the last supper, never mind whole religions.. Of course, as a consequence, the people had segregatedthemselves to their own neighborhoods, doing what they could to avoid their differently affiliated neighbor. It wasn't like that all around of course, especially in the rural areas where the violence had been at their lowest levels at all times of the religious crisis...they were the people who were friendly to each other and agreed to disagree. But in the cities...it was like two different civilizations were occupying the same space. Luckily there was no tension, agrument and violence, but the King (who had disguised himself and travlled to many of the towns after his pronouncement) could see that it wouldn't last for longer than a few decades if that. And he knew that by then, he could well be dead. Ah well, he thought. He had preventd chaos and had thrown sand in the face of the nobility (including his own sons). That alone was an accomplishment worth smiling about. And so he did. |

As you can also see, the Ribbenzophs, while also of mixed heritage, are more in common with their Indic roots than the Bouze family is, which is more European. |

Prince Rudolphus was sitting at his desk flipping through paperwork with haste and thinking to himself about glory and victory over Kasnyia's enemies, be they external or internal. Suddenly a knock on the door interrupted his studies and his day dreaming. Rudolphus: *Sigh* Yes, what is it? A young servant opens the door and glares at the prince, finally Rudolphus lost patience; Rudolphus: Dammit, I don't have all day! Speak your message and go! Messenger: Y-yes your Highness, there was a message from the King... Rudolphus: Well, what was it, little man? As the messenger explained the speech of the King the face of Rudolphus sank with both sickening disgust and outright rage, finally he lost control swiftly slinging his arm and knocking papers and a bottle of wine onto the floor and shouting "GET THE HELL OUT -- NOW!" The messenger fled for the door as the Prince rose to his feet and walked swiftly towards the door, the messenger so carelessly trying to flee leaving the entry dangling open, as the prince walked to the door he glared harshly at the running messenger before slamming the door. Rudolphus mumbled to himself while walking to the fireplace, poking the hot wood before loosing control once more and begins beating the burning log into crumbled ash, shouting "DAMN FOOLS! I WOULD KILL THEM ALL IF I COULD GET AWAY WITH IT, ALL OF THEM!". A Maiden opens the door and asks "Your Highness?", startling Rudolphus who thought he was alone. Rudolphus: Now what the hell do YOU have to offer, more messages of blasphemy!? The Maiden was now nervous seeing the glowing red hot poker in his hand, and said to the Prince "I -- I thought I heard a noise, your highness". Rudolphus looked down at the glaring poker and looked back up at the maiden and said "You only heard me 'kindling' the flames, It is rather cold lately... Oh and you could bring me a bottle of wine immediately." With that the Maiden replied "Yes, your highness." calmly closing the door and fetching the wine as requested, meanwhile the Prince quickly picked up the papers and swiped the broken glass into a pile behind his desk as so not to draw too much attention, awaiting the wine he had requested. He knew his time was coming to prove himself to all of Kasnyia, and he was eagerly awaiting it with an angry but passionate grin. |

OOC: You and your commentary and your misspelling of the word "nice"! :P IC: Prince Stephan returned to the secret police headquarters in a rage. He would break this peace if it meant the death of the dynasty! Of Kasnyia! His father had gone too far. He could no longer work for the decrepit old apostate. His engineered peace should not, could not be more important than the family. The old man was ruining everything! If he got his peace, his idea would stick. Stephan couldn't let that happen. The King had to be stopped. Something had to be done, but what? Stephan marched straight up to his office, knocking down anyone insolent enough to accost him. Like a freight train he made his way up to his sanctuary, and slammed shut the door. After a quick glass of whiskey, he snatched up the phone, quickly dialing the number of Karl Veldebert, the leader of an Orthodox street gang and a demagogue. "Karl? This is Stephan. I need you to organize a riot, tomorrow at the docks. No questions asked. Make sure that you get as many people as possible to show up. Pull this off, and I'll fill your deposit box so full of gold it won't shut properly. You don't even have to be there. Just make sure there are others." He then left to give orders to the special forces... |

Karl- A riot...is he nuts?! Hooo boy...HEY MARKUS!!! GET ME THE GUNS!!! ----------------------- Aleksander IV was now deep in thought, trying to think 10 steps ahead of his sons, who had become more than a little out of line in recent years. He had long given up controlling them. He knew that he would get more cooperation from the Catholics, and less from his own people. He also knew that the Orthodox Church would be all too happy to coronate Boris...whom oddly enough he hadn't seen for quite a long time...and that worried him. Stephan, he knew, was an ambitious little bastard. A true creature of the nobility..something he blamed himself for, allowing his son to sit in his court as he conducted all sorts of bussiness. Now if only he could contact the Bouze Family.... He went to his bed, thinking about his new dilema, for tomorrow would be a new day....and a new Kasnyia. ------------------------------ Stephan had made sure to contact his uncle for advice before he left for the special forces. He had become an idol to him, teaching him all the tools of the polititians trade. His advice had been simple. Find a loophole. Find another way, even if it was more...unsavory. He also told him a simple phrase: "Hurry up and wait." And Stephan seemed to know exactly what that meant. So with that information and his own ideas, Stephan decided to put his own plans in action. |

The city woke up the next morning to bloody violence. An Orthodox mob was attacking the docks, killing the predominantly Catholic dockworkers and burning the king in effigy. A good many of them were armed, and dock security was quickly overwhelmed and lynched. After about half an hour, the docks were completely under the control of the mob. This was of course a major crisis, as the ships that sailed in and out of the port were the source of most of the city's supplies. If people were forced to pay a fortune for food trucked in laboriously from the inland, there would be more violence aimed at the government. This was just asking for a police response. But for some reason, the offices of the secret police could not be reached. Apparently, Prince Stephan had given every employee the day off. Meanwhile, as civil strife engulfed the docks, special forces soldiers began to filter into the area. They had been instructed not to fire at the mob, and the mob had been instructed not to attack them. A photo that would become popularized after the incident ended showed a special forces captain conferring with the notorious gang leader Karl Veldebert. These soldiers began to take positions throughout the vicinity of the docks, totally unbeknownst to anyone downtown. They were not protecting citizens, but hiding. But from what? |

OOC- Just bear in mind that the rest of the nation will be in relative peace. Violence will be only in the capital until the King croaks. Then you all will have great fun. As for him actually dying, it is soon. IC- The King was exhausted. He had expected the miltant groups here in the city to react, but it annoyed him none the less. He was trying to get in contact with the Bouze clan as fast as he could. Now if only he could keep Stephan in check (he knew it had been him right off the bat...Boris was worse, but he wasn't petty enough for this sort of mischief..and Alois...didn't give enough of a damn to bother apart from agreeing with his brothers. He had a long and eventful day...week...month...however long it took, ahead of him. God give me strength, he thought. And then he laughed at himself. Usually in this sort of sitiuation he would go to the Patriarch for advice. But now of course he couldn't. He started to wonder just what he had sacrificed for peace...and a temporary one at that. |

Boris sat and Boris plotted. His father’s speech had not gone down well. Not with the aristocracy and not with him. But for a time, Boris had been willing to give his father the benefit of the doubt. For a time, Boris had been willing to accept the wisdom of his father’s rule. But now… Stephan realised that something needed to be done, and Stephan was trying – in his own way – to set things right. Boris had hoped his father would see sense… but it was becoming clear that sacrifices would need to be made if Kasnyia was to survive… It was with a heavy heart, that Boris put events into motion. Not even family loyalty could be put above religion and the future of the state. |
