OOC: Is anyone good at drawing? Because I have some general ideas that I'd like to put in picture form. But I have trouble drawing things that aren't stick figures.
[edit]
After looking things up to describe to TC what I'd like... I've found pictures that will work :P

OOC: I have that same problem Nag.

"Alabaster we need to go now" said Cornelius as he grabbed his friend from the bar and drugged him out.

"What do you mean we need to go, I hardly had time to finish my drink and we haven't looked for the power regulator yet" said Alabaster annoyed once more with his friend.

"Sorry friend but your drink and my time experiments will have to wait" said Cornelius as the two made their way back to the airlock. "If what that merchant said was true and with what we know from the history records of species 2473 planet, I can hardly believe the Menhadians are just trying to go home to visit their parents."

"What, you think they're looking to invade?" said Alabaster a bit tickled by the notion. "Come on now Cornelius, there are far too many advanced civilizations on earth to worry about an invasion."

"That may be true but Alabaster the point is, they'll make war and you an I both know the costs of war." said Cornelius "Langarra has existed for too long in peace to allow a barbaric society from Earth's past disrupt the Utopia we've created."

"Fine, fine well then what's your plan?" asked Alabaster

"We'll go to Pandora and use their Astria Porta to get back to Earth. Once there, will seek an audience with the Governing Council."

"Alright then, I'm with you Cornelius, if only to get back to Earth"

Back on board their ship Cornelius detached from the Taoese station and cruised out of it's general area. Once at a safe distance, Cornelius made the hyper-jump and once again in a bright flash of light the ship disappeared only to re-appear thousand of light years away in the Garanite system. The third planet from the sun, was Pandora.

Posted Image

Pandora was a beautiful planet with grand stretches of endless green fields, most of whom bloomed with wild flowers in the spring cycles. It was munch like Earth however because of great advancements of the Langarri people and with no other advanced life forms to live on her, there was no pollution to be found. It was perhaps one of the most purest planets it all the sector and it was the only Langarri held planet in this part of the Galaxy to host an Astria Porta.

The Astria Porta was one of Langarra's most guarded technologies for it allowed for instant travel between any two point in a galaxy or beyond. That meant that a person on Earth could travel to the edge of the galaxy for further in less than 15 secs time. It was truly a wonder of science and the Langarri people made sure it never fell into the hands of anyone who would miss use it.

As Relativity slowly cruised towards the moon of Pandora, Alabaster opened a communication channel. "This the Relativity requesting permission to dock at the space port." A few seconds later a picture came over their view screen of a striking beautiful Langarri behind a command station. "Relativity this is the Pandra space port you care cleared for dock seven, welcome home."

Just then a ring space station decloacked. The ring was positioned so that the moon was in it's center and it rapped around it. Cornelius docked the ship in the appropriate docking station and they then gathered their students on board. The told them that they had important matters to attend to back on Earth and told them to return to the academy. As for Cornelius and Alabaster once they were off the ship they went quickly to the neared teleporting center. Langarri teleportation technology worked on a principle of sending a person from one teleporting station to another and thus if a planet or ship did not have a teleporting station on it, the equipment is useless. How one is teleported is that the speed of their molecules within their body is increased so that their move faster than the molecules of everything else around there by having the ability to pass through all over object. Once this is achieved the molecules are captured within an energy field and then that energy field is transmitted to the destination. To an observer this process looks as if the person is absorbed by a ball of light and then that light is shot from one point to the other.

So when Alabaster and Cornelius made it to the station they requested to be transported to the off-world transportation center. It is there that the Astria Porta is located and so they stepped into the Transportation module and with the press of a buttom the two were transformed into two oblong orbs of light which quickly shot through the floor and out of the station where they flew all the way to the surface, to the receiving station where they reappeared.

They were now inside the off-world transportation center. Cornelius went to the desk and asked when the next time they would connect with Earth. They were in luck because the reseptionist informed him that an outbound warm hole was being established with Earth at that very moment. Quickly the two rushed to the gate room where the Astria Porta was housed. When they entered the gate room the Astria Porta (for all of you who know what a StarGate is, that’s what it is so I won’t go into detail, if you don’t know, wiki it.) had just finished entering its last symbol and the wormhole was established. Like a burst of water, the wormhole formed and then stabilized. There were about 20 people waiting to travel through the Astria Porta and one by one they crossed into the gate and were instantly transported to Earth.

The Sun shown brightly through the glass roof of the off-world transportation center on Earth, and Cornelius an Alabaster were pleased to be back. They were in the capital of Langarra, which sat on the site of the old city of Jericho. They took the first transport (think monorail system) to the capital building of Langarra. It was here that the Governing Council of Langarra sat, they were the Executive, legislative, and judiciary branch of the Langgari government. The council was a public affair, anyone within society who wanted to sit on it, could and thus on any given day there were from between 200 and 300 people. Each year from the group 12 would be elected to serve as the leading group of the whole. Interestingly enough, Cornelius Father sat on the council of 12.

“An Cornelius it has been too long” said an elderly man from behind the reception desk.

“Martin has the Council sat for its regular session yet?” said Cornelius

“They are just starting now, why could have something to bring before the Council?” asked Martin

“Yes and it is of grave importance.” Said Cornelius.

“Well then I’ll put you at the top of the speakers list, go right in.” said Martin as he began to type in Cornelius name.

The Council Chambers was a massive round room, with several metallic columns holding up the massive dome roof. Seats filled the room all the way around and extended to several rows high. A small rectangular table for the council pf twelve to sit was situated in the middle. At the start of the session, Alabaster and Cornelius waited outside the chambers in the hallway just outside the door. However, an attendant to the chambers came out only a few minutes later and told them their time had come. As they enter the chambers they stood on a large white circular platform. When both Alabaster and Cornelius were on the platform it lit up and a hologram of the two men appear above them much larger so that everyone in the room could see them. The lights in the room were deemed so that neither Alabaster nor Cornelius could see anyone in the general audience, only the council of twelve that sat before them.

“Cornelius and Alabaster, scientists of the republic of Langarra, the Governing Council now recognizes you to speak before us today.” Said a man from the council of twelve.

“Respective leaders of the Governing Council” said Cornelius “ we come here today with the most disturbing of news. On our journey to the Pheldspar system we stopped at a Kiru Taoese Space station only to have revealed to us information which we think must be taken seriously. The Menhadians, the war-like culture of Earth’s past is now on a direct path back to Earth. I fully believe they intend to make war with Earth much as they did so many years ago with species 2473. I implore this council to seek defensive measure to stop the Menhadian advance on to Earth.”

With that the room began to echo in murmurs as all the delegates seated around them began to talk about the information they were given. The council of twelve were the only ones not talking about the situation. Then finally, one of them spoke…

“This is indeed interesting information Cornelius” said the Council Member. “Let us now consult our senior array to see if we can pick up any Menhadian cruisers.”

With that he waves his hand over the plan black desk and a consul lit up. Then the Councilmen pushed a series of buttons only to have a map of the galaxy appear as a hologram above them. Then after pressing another bottom, several dots appeared on the map, all moving slowly, these were the various ships within the galaxy. The Langarri had a senior array spread out throughout then entire galaxy, all of the small satellites which made the array were cloaked, and they gave real-time information about all ships which passed through their scanned sector. The Councilmen then pressed another bottom and highlight the space between the Kiru Taoese Space Station in question and Earth. Sure enough, moving in a stead course straight within the path of Earth were several battleships all of the design the computer recognized as Menhadian.

“Hmm” said another Council member, this time a woman “ It would appear as if your information was correct.” If these battleships continue on their present course they will reach Earth in a matter of weeks. If they have any sort of warp or hyperspace capabilities, they may reach us in far less time. However, this does not mean that they are coming to make war, they may simply wish to visit the birth place of their ancestors. After all, how many races which now live elsewhere still make pilgrimages back here to Earth? I’m sorry but I don’t believe this information is enough to break out law on non-intereference and activate our defense forces to stop such an approach. Besides even if this is an invasion empty, our nation shield has never failed up and if we must we can cloak our city to keep them out of harms way.”

“That is not to mention we also have the Earth cloaking shield almost completed” said another council members. “Though it is not complete at the moment, we have every belief it will be ready by next week at which time we will be able to an entire planet to keep it from harm. Though it will take the better part of our entire energy network to power, it will be successful in keep the Menhadians from finding Earth.”

“So you see Cornelius there is nothing we are willing to do at this moment” said Cornelius Father. “Thank you for this information, now if you will please set down and allow the next speaker to enter…”

After leaving the chambers and the building the two men sat on a bench.

“Well Cornelius you can’t say you didn’t try, and besides if they get that cloaking generator up and running, they’ll be able to cloak the entire planet so what’s to worry?” said Alabaster

“Everything, what if it isn’t completed in time, or what if it fails, they simply won’t have any time to” said Cornelius “After all the Langarri Defense Initiative has what, maybe 500,000 personnel? The Menhadians easily have millions of soldier not including the other species they’ve enslaved. The Council is just wasting time….”

Cornelius stopped himself in mid sentence and then got a look on his face as if he had come across the perfect solution.

“What is it Cornelius” said Alabaster

“Come on if the Council won’t doing anything, I will” he said as he got up and started walking off.

“What are you planning Cornelius?” asked Alabaster

“Either your with me or your not Alabaster” said Cornelius

“ugh” said Alabaster “I know I’m going to regret this…..

Hundereds of Menhadien battleships flew across space, each holding tens of thousands of soldiers, heading towards earth. No one had tried to talk with them, and it would be their folly if they didn't try. True the Menhadiens loved war, more than other men, but they arn't complete and total idiots they can't take on the entire world by them selves.

But if the Menhadiens did reach earth, there was hell to pay. Menhad had a score to settle with the world, and they would settle even with the destruction of the earth.

Maybe one could buy them off with enemies to fight elsewhere, but earth was still their target.

OOC: I might as well describe my ships/tect. Menhad can make lazers but only uses them on ships. There was weak energy shields, again on ships, that is strongest against lazers, but you can still over load it. Nukes are common place on ships. MAC cannons are used in tanks and other heavy ground/air weapon, infantry carry smaller and weaker version of MAC gun, firing regular shells instead of explosives.

Nova Mandalay, Velorya

The settlement lay on a sandy expanse between a mountain range and the sea. It consisted of six concentric rings strung together in the expanse, the areas between which were hydroponic farms. Nova Mandalay was one of the many enclaves of the Knights of Christ, one of three factions vying for control of the territory of Velorya, which had been in anarchy since the Empire collapsed many centuries earlier. This was where foodstuffs were produced to feed the population of the derelict ruin of a city a few miles down the coast. No one knew exactly where in old Velorya they were, as all the old records had been lost during the fighting. But they did know that their settlement's namesake was a huge Veloryan city that had been destroyed by nuclear weapons some time in the past.

It was a sunny summer's day just like any other, except for the fact that a starship was spotted a few miles to the east, and continued toward them until it was almost directly overhead. Although a farm by function, this was a military base by nature, and the Knights, both men and women, were scrambled to prepare for any possible attack. Even though they had sporadic contact with Outsiders, many of them had never seen a starship before, and certainly not one this big.

Nova Mandalay's lazer defenses were prepared, including a particle impactor of indeterminate make that was powerful enough to vaporize a hover tank in a single hit. It wouldn't be any good against such a massive starship though, so the Master of the base ran as fast as he could to the communications center in the innermost rotunda to await the transmission that would hopefully come.

Luckily, it did. The image of a well-dressed man, probably some kind of officer, was broadcasted through the grainy viewscreens of the Knights' old computer consoles. "This is His Most Holy Ship Salvation, El Dejarboan Benedictine-class. Identify yourselves and we may bring salvation upon your struggling tribe." the man stated flatly. Quickly, Master Secundus Marius ordered a transmission sent back.

"This is Master Secundus Marius, of the Knights of Christ. I am the leader of this settlement. What do your honorable masters of the Outside desire with the Knights of Christ?"

Of the Amish Children, 65% have six fingers on each hand. They are considered the "Elder" class. Of the remaining 35%, a good 10% have some minor telepathic powers, and can read minds, while, .01% have major telepathic powers.

The laws of the land forbid the use of these powers, however, aside from causing the occasional madness, no one really knows what goes on in the minds of the few with major powers. They tend to be shunned, or ignored.

Lately, they have been rambling on about space invaders, but with crops to deal with, and livestock to tend, the remainder of the children ignore them as babbling idiots. Also, the defences put up hundreds of years ago by "the Foreigners" take care of any strangers that come near the land, be it by air, sea or land. Again, no one pays any mind to "the defenses". They just exist.

The commanding officer of the Salvation merely smiled to Marius. "The Christ Mount has heard of your plight and your faith in the Lord," he replied, clasping his hands together. "Ergo, the Christ Mount came to a unanimous decision in favor of helping you with destroying your heretic enemies and bringing order to Velorya once again.

"For too long have other civilizations allowed the words of Christ falter from their commandments and have fallen into decadence. The Christ Mount seeks allies in its Crusade and it believes the Knights are such allies. Do we have permission to land a delegation?"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The prophecy of our Eldest has come!" cried the High Cultist of the Dragon's Blood. "He who shall lead Scythirus back into its empire, and away from its wayward path has been brought to us from the sands of time by those who dare corrupt our heritage." He plunged the sonic dagger down deep into the chest of the tied sacrifice, and began cutting open the man's chest. Surrounded by ominous chanting, the heart was lifted from the open wound. "Now the Eldest shall show us the path!"
The High Cultist placed the heart into a bowl and brought it to a shrouded figure, gaunt and skeletal, who sat on a throne position on a dais. The High Cultist offered the bowl to the creature, no longer human after millennia of keeping itself artificially alive. Bony, pale hands grasped the bowl and brought it into its decrepit lap to rest.
The bony hands grasped the heart in the bowl and brought it to a pair of withered, white lips. From the heart it drank the sacrifice's blood, and a colorless tongue licked the drops from its lips. The emptied heart was dropped into the bowl.
"The Eldest shall speak now," it said with a whispering, unearthly voice. "This is how the Cult of the Dragon's Blood shall retrieve Scythirus' savior and cripple the republic that exists now." And so the creature related the plan of action to its followers, explaining each task that must be carried out to exact precision.
"You may indeed land, noble masters." Marius replied. "You have the use of the landing field in the innermost courtyard. I shall be there to meet your delegation personally. The Grand Master of our Order will be informed of your presence, and will be hear in time to welcome you..."
"I can't believe that's your grand plan" said Alabaster to Cornelius. The two had made it back to Pandora and were now once again on board their science vessel however this time they were all alone, aside from the ship's personal androids.
"Well we honestly don't have any other choice Cornelius and at the moment we need to do something since the Governing Council has chosen not to" said Cornelius as he slowly glided the ship Relativity out of the station by placing his hands on two blood half-spheric orbs. This was how all Langarri ships were steered, a pilot merely places his hands on the orbs and then slowly moved their hands in unison in the direction he wished to move the ship.
"Yes, but what you're talking about is simply impossible" said Alabaster. "Even if we can get our time device to work, which mind you we'll still need to find a black hole to complete the process, we'll then have to lure the Menhadian fleet towards it and then hope that we can extend our shield to encompass their entire fleet. Oh and did you forget that little thing called the Thermodynamic Power Regulator"
"First off, we won't need the power regulator. We can operate the device without it as long as it's not for a long period of time. Secondly, if we attack the Menhadian fleet, I'm sure they'll follow. Thirdly, I noticed that the Menhadians will soon be passing through a system quite close to a black hole and forthly, I can modify the shield generator to extend fair greater than originally built to do. I understand that there is a great margin of error here Alabaster, but if we are successful, we could transport the Menhadians to any point in time, like say a million years into the Future. Earth might not even exist and therefore there will be nothing for them to conquer."
"You do realize we are operating a science vessel and thus are only equipped with secondary weapons."
"The phasers will be enough to get the Menhadians attention and perhaps even break through their shields. Either way, we're only going to try and get their attention. Once they start to follow us, our shields will hold until we get to the black hole."
"Well again I say it's a failure from the start but as your friend I'll follow you" said Alabaster. " I say we cruise under our cloak for now, that way we aren't spotted until we need to be"
With that the Relativity went under it's cloak and continued to cruise along through space. She could be within the Menhadian fleet in under a couple of hours however since modifications to the ship had to be made the two kept the ship at low speeds, to give them time. Either way they would reach the Menhadians long before they were within range of Earth and set their plan in motion.
OOC: Menhad I'll send you a PM on my idea.
The Three medical ships from the Holy Catholic Commonwealth had finally made their way to the southern borders of the what was left of the Hispanic nation. Cardinal Allison who had been in her quarters on her command ship came to the deck and looked over the poor city of their fallen Catholic brothers.
"This is so sad" she said to herself as she gripped her rosary in her hand. "Commander open all communication channels."
"As you wish your grace" said the commanding officer. "Channels are open"
"People of former Hispania, I am Cardinal Allison of The Holy Catholic Commonwealth. I have come here in peace to grant you the medical supplies you must certainly need to help defeat this deadly plague sent by Satan. I implore you to allow us to land our ships and begin to spread these medical supplies throughout your lands and save your people."
Obadiah Kaine was restless.
As a rule of thumb, citizens of the Prime never left the safety of the nation's boarders, but there were always mavericks: those who wanted to see the stars, those who went to trade (usually with the Armish for "real" food rather than the pills and nutritionally enriched gelatin that typically made up a citizen's diet) and there were those like Obadiah who's studies demanded that they leave the safety of Prime.
In Obadiah's case, a disease as virulent as the one that devestated Hispania could not be allowed inside the boarder. And in any case, it was the social effect of the devestation that Obadiah was most interested in.
Still, being outside of the Prime was almost always a disquieting experience for citizens - the Neural Network, which bound the nation together, was hard to maintain outside the nations boarders. (Many had speculated that this was the reason that the IDP had never expanded into space.) As Obadiah journied further from his homeland, he felt his technopathic connection to his countrymen weaken.
More than that, the Neural Network was the IDP. Through the Network, a citizen could access the entire knowledge of the nation. Through the Network, a citizen could communicate with anyone instantly. A citizen's health was monitered through the Network. Their opinions and beliefs were contantly assessed in order to determine the nations policies and goals. The Network was knowledge, communication and politics - the embodiment of culture.
Yet Obadiah accepted the discomfort of being seperated from his homeland: his work was important to him.
****
From the safety of the force field surrounding his ship, Obadiah had sent drones to collect samples from the outskirts of the former city that now housed Zion. Plant matter, scrapings of destroyed buildings, blood samples from any wildlife the drones came across: all of it would be useful, all of it would be studied. But these samples would not be as interesting as studing the humans of this nation.
Ideally, he would require infected subjects and uneffected subjects who could be exposed to the virus. However, he was more than willing to content himself by quietly studing the civilisation emerging from the ruins. He was not a sadistic man, and while the scientist in him would not squander the oppertunity for study, he would not go out of his way to engineer ideal circumstances.
Whatever happened, Obadiah was sure there was lots he could learn... At least he was until his scans detected three ships - certainly more advanced than any the emerging population of former Hispania would have access to.
The presence of medical ships was not completely unexpected. It made sense that he was not the only one on the face of the planet with an interest in this situation. And it made sense that the more politically minded nations of Earth would try to use the situation for their benefit - or even that they would seek to "help" these people out of a sense of alturism.
But when the ships identified themselves as being from the Holy Catholic Commonwealth, Obadiah's blood began to boil.
The IDP maintained a policy of neutrality. Of non-interference. Unlike the Langarri, this was not a moral decision to avoid their advanced technology interfering with others, but rather their reasoning for isolation was more close the Armish's - that there was nothing the outside world (or worlds) could offer them. And as such, the IDP had no offical view of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth.
And in turn, the Holy Catholic Commonwealth had not taken any hostile action of note against the IDP within memory. Thus, while the nations were remarkably different, in general terms there was no ill will.
And yet the mere mention of Catholism - especially a mention of the Popess and her Commonwealth - brought an almost universal feeling of hatred and disgust to the uniformly athiest citizens of the Prime.
Chrisitianity had caused countless wars in the past. But the thing that kept the hatred of Catholism in particular alive in the IDP was a terrorist group known as the Emmanuli. News casts were quick to bring acts of Emmanuli esponage and terrorism to the attention of the public, and they were even quicker to ridicule their rediculous beliefs in a higher power. While rationally the citizens of the IDP accepted that the HCC had nothing to do with the terrorists, the fact that they shared the same "god" and central tenants of belief lead to an inescapable emotional association of religion with acts of terrorism.
Obadiah cursed under his breath. The ships of the HCC would surely detect his craft's energy shield and he would almost certainly have to have dealings with them if he was to carry out his studies. And, of course, if the HCC were actively trying to eradicate the virus, his work could become that much more difficult.
Resolving to make the best of the situation, Obadiah responded on one of the open communication channels:
"This is Citizen Obadiah Kaine of the Indivisable Prime. We both have a vested interest in the peoples of this nation. It would be..." Obadiah found himself choking on his words as he forced himself to continue, "beneficial..." he spat, feelings of hatred rising up in him, "if we were to work together."
****
Meanwhile, in the IDP...
The Calculator, the IDP's most powerful AI, was assessing data. That was it's function after all, to assess, manage and co-ordinate the data on the Neural Network - to run the IDP. However, this data was different. Unexpected. It was almost worrying.
A war fleet seemed to be heading for Earth. The Calculator needed more data before it could act on the optimal course of action, but what it already knew was cause for concern...
It was true that the Commonwealth had never had relations with the Prime, for the most part they ignored them since after all they themselves ignored the Commonwealth. Though the Marinite church had it's beginnings in the scriptures and policies of the Genesian church, it had over the hundreds of years in it's evolution changed dramatically. It was a more caring church, it was willing to work with heretics if it meant they could be converted, overall they believed in salvation through the church. However, some doctrines remained the same including the burning of those who could not be save and doing battle against those believed to be lost to Satan.
"This is Cardinal Allison of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth Citizen Obadiah Kaine. It would certainly be prudent for our forces to work in harmony should the healing of the Hispanic people be our goals. Of course as it stands our two people have never had formal introductions. Perhaps you would allow us to host you for a dinner so that we can better get to know each other."
The Cardinal then had the line muted.
"Do you think that it is a safe idea" said Commander Thomas "to offer our vessel to a heretic from a country we know little about?"
"He is after all a child of God Commander" said the Cardinal " an like all good Shepherds, we must always look to lead those who have strayed from the path of God's ultimate divine."
"As you wish your grace" said Commander Thomas "You know and understand God's will more than I"
"It is ok Commander, now please have the dinning hall prepared for our guest should be accept our offer."
It had taken them an hour but Cornelius and Alabaster had made the modification to the Relativity needed to make the plan a success.
Though Alabaster was still worried that the plan wouldn't work, he kept his fears to himself as he knew that now there would be no turning back for his friend. Thus, with the ships only weapons, three phaser banks, ready the ship decloaked and opened fire on two Menhadian cruisers. The phasers by Langarri standards were only secondary weapons, and since all Langarri weapons were no lethal by design, the phasers and their targeting computer were programed to target ship's engines and weapons systems only.
Thus the Menhadian cruisers targeted and hit only sustained minor damages to their engines and some weapon platforms. Though no real damage was done, it was enough to anger the Menhadians who opened fire. Luckily with the technology the Menhadians had at their disposal, wasn't enough to penetrate the superior langarri shields however the constant bombardment did make for a bump ride as the ship went to an escape path.
Now Cornelius and Alabaster could only hope that the Menhadians would follow them as they made their way to the black hole.
"The Order of the Knights of Christ welcome you to our humble homestead. We are truly sorry that these are the only accomodations we can afford you as long as you choose to stay. Grandmaster Aurelius had cabled from Lituria, he has stated that he will arrive this very night and will be available to talk in the morning. If there is anything you need of me before he arrives, do not hesitate to ask. Once more, I am Master Marius, at your service."
Now Cornelius and Alabaster could only hope that the Menhadians would follow them as they made their way to the black hole.
The Menhadien ships reacted quickly, but not all of them followed. A squad of 12 ships chased the Relativity for hours, and the entire time bombarding the shields with lazers, missiles and cannons. The Relativity's shields where falling, but they neared the blackhole and the scientist's calculations said that the shields would hold untill they reached it.
But they was something that the Menhadiens could use to bypass the shield, they where just waiting.
"Creature comforts do not concern us, Master Marius," replied the man that led the delegacy. "Followers of true Genesianism care not for such things. Your accomadations will do fine. I am Arch-Bishop Rahl, and I represent the Holy Christ Mount in Renu Grande, El Dejarbo. The Christ Mount has seen your plight and smiled upon you."
The crate behind the delegacy moved forward, and Rahl patted it gently. "This is our gift to you, Knights. Inside you will find weapons far more advanced than your enemies and your own. Also within, are schematics for small fighter ships that you can build for yourselves. All Crusaders need their swords, after all. If you lack the resources for constructing the fighters, we will gift them unto you."
Outside Zion, the Yshurakan hovership still awaited a reply from the city. It was utterly oblivious to the communications chatter between the Prime and Commonwealth vessels. It hadn't even detected them yet.
Radio. Useless. The towers had all failed early on. They could hear the visitors, because they used satellites, but doubted they coudl here them. Zion's engineers could only piggyback unto foriegn satellites for short times before being kicked off by security systems. Romero hoped they got the message. Hispania was as advanced as any nation three decades ago. They lost to the infected. While new technology mihgt be arriving, it would end badly if they landed in Barcelona or any metropolitan center. That had been tried hundreds of times before the remnants of the nation quarantined themselves in Zion.
Acropolis, The Holy Catholic Commonwealth
The sun was setting as another day had come to an end in one of the most holy of cities still standing on Earth. Though the city was much larger and her buildings dared to reach higher heights, the architecture and very feel of the city and it's society was that of the medieval and Victorian age. The buildings which graces the skyline of the city look more like towers of a castle or monastery more than apartment and business complexes.
The highest and largest of all the buildings was that of the Cathedral of Saint Alexander. It was this church, this building that hundreds and thousands flocked to in pillgramages to worship the virgin Mary, her son, and his father. It was also here, in the crypt of church that the Popesses of the past were buried. Popess Alexandria XVII was gracefully walking down a long corridor with her Cardinal Victoria by her side.
"So you see your holiness" said the Cardinal " I fully believe that we should endorse this Holy Veloryan Legion faction. If our intelligence is correct, they could certainly be the faction to win the bloody civil war that has gripped that region for centuries"
The two stopped at a large steel door where two knights of the Commonwealth stood guard for beyond the door was the crypt of the former Popesses.
"It is certainly an interesting idea Cardinal Victoria and I will keep it under advisement as I seek out my position." said Alexandria. "Now if you will excuse me I wish to pay my respects and pray for the answers I seek."
"As you wish" said the Cardinal as she bowed and began to walk back down the hall. The Popess then gave a nod to one of the guard who the proceeded to open the door to the crypt. It was down a straight staircase that the Popess found herself in the crypt. It was a large room which spanned the area of the church. All around where large pillars which held up the church above and beautifully carved stone coffins for the fifty Popesses which laid in peace.
At least this was the knowledge spread to everyone within the Commonwealth however, the Popess and those who came before her knew better. She walked through the crypt following a center isle until she came to what was the center of the crypt. A great seal was on the floor with the Latin words which translated "May their spirits live on to guide future generations." As she stood before the seal she lifted her right hand which on her ring finger sat a ring which was apart of her Popeess vestments and on it was the same seal. She took the ring and as she grasped it's face she twisted it.
It that she could hear the sounds of gears begin to move and after kicking up some dust between the cracks, the seal began to lower and then moved off to the side, allowing for a platform to rise. On the platform was chair to which the Popess sat. On either arm of the chair were an assortment of buttons and at the top of the back of the chair sat a small gold in color head band. The Popess placed the band on her head and then pressed an button that caused the platform to begin to lower.
As the seal was put back in place the tunnel was illuminated by a neon blue light. The platform descended through the tunnel all the while increasing it's speed as it went, until finally within a matter of minutes she was a mile from the surface of the Earth. It was here the platform left the confines of the tight tunnel and came into a large dark room. When it finally came to rest on the floor, the Popess found herself in a dark room with only her platform illuminated by lights from above which created a cylinder of light around her.
Alexandria then pressed another button and the neon light which illuminated the platform's floor began to spread out into the darkness as if it were following the cracks in a floor. The light continued to span out until finally you could no longer see it. It was at this point that several circles of the same neon blue light appeared and the circles began to rise. In fact they were not just simply circles, but instead the tops of pods which were all hidden within the floor of the room. (These pods are like the pods that the vampires from "under world" were sleeping in, just a bit more high tech). When the cylinder pods reached their height, they began to swing on two hinges so that at the end of the process they were laying horizontally.
At this the Popess's chair began to lean back into a more comfortable position and she then closes her eyes, while pressing one final button.
"Alexandria" said a collective voice as if coming from one person. "We are glad to see you once more. What is it you need from us?"
In fact the collective voice was the voices of all the Popess which came before her. The pods were stasis pods and every Popess after reaching the age of 80 were stored in one, fifty in all. Their bodies, rapped in a skin tight white suite, were contected to an assortment of different machines all designed to keep them alive as they laid in a sleep state. Their minds were all hardwired into a center nexus which then transmitted through the head band into the mind of the wearer. The entire machine was designed so that each Popess could mentally link up at anytime with the wisdom of all who came before her and as they read her thoughts, she could read theirs and their hear their recommendations as a single voice.
"Your graces, I have come today to seek your wisdom of Velorya. For centuries as many of you know Velorya has been stuck in a civil war that has costs the lives of millions. This was still rages however now the Commonwealth is in a position that can now tip the scales and bring one power to rule. I fully believe that this can be accomplished and we can finally bring them into the commonwealth and back into the church."
"It is a daring plan" said the collective. "Velorya for her history was a powerful ally to the church of old. She was a power opponent to our church in it's early days and remained so for years until the wars began. IT was only then that she lost her global power and we lost our greatest opposition. Were we to be able to save her, rebuild her, and bring her into the graces of the Marinite church. We would be even more powerful than we are now. It is our belief that this plan must be seen through, Cardinal Victoria must be trusted with this task. Bring Velorya to the church Alexandria and you will have accomplish more than we could have in our lifetimes."
"I understand your graces," said the Popess "It shall be done..."
A few minutes later the Popess emerged from the crypt and walked down the many corridors of the Cathedral until she came to Cardinal Victoria's office. As she entered the Cardinal bowed and greeted her accordingly.
"I have been given the answers I sought through prayer" said the Popess. "I will send you the Veloryan regions where you will make contact with this Holy Veloryan Legion. You will offer them our services for their devotion and if they accept them you will begin to arm them. If they deny our offer then we will simply have to show them our true might, and see if that does not change their minds."
"I suppose," said the Cardinal "That you are referring to showing them The Hand of God no less your grace.
"If that is what it takes, then that is what shall be done. Velorya must be rebuilt and must be down so under the grace of the Marinite church. This is God's will and divine plan and we must not fail for so it is written so it shall be done."
"She your grace, I will leave for the Veloryan territory at once...."
IC: Master Marius bowed. "The Order of the Knights of Christ thank you, Your Holiness. For too long now, our people have languished in history's longest Civil War. Once, my people were a powerful Ally of yours. Now we are in a dark age, but you offer us light. The Knights of Christ shall swear allegiance to the Christ Mount and the True Genesian Church, I swear it. Should the Grandmaster disagree, I would duel him to forward my purpose. But he will see that El Dejarbo offers the only chance Velorya has for salvation. As Master of this Enclave, I accept your gifts that you have magnanimously showered upon us." He nodded to the soldiers, who approached the crate and examined some of the weapons inside. "As for your schematics, I will have our top scientists scan them and reverse engineer them so that they can be easily manufactured. I believe that we can start production almost immediately..."
Taiwan, Asian Continent
It was a rainy evening in the city of Fengkang which was located on the southern tip of the island of Taiwan. Most of the resident were inside aside from a few children who dared to play outside against their mother's wishes. It was about the hour when the resident's of this city were sitting down for a meal when the lights came. Beautiful bright lights began to beam down on the city like rays from heaven. They knew however that these were not such rays when the hulls of the giant ships began to part the clouds as they emerged from the sky and hovered over the city.
The Holy Veloryan legion which was station in the city became alarmed at the sight of the mighty vessel and rushed to their battle stations fearing it was an attack. There were three ships in all that appeared over head of the citizens and each carried the emblem of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth.
Posted Image
To the right and left of the larger, center ship were two Agena class battle Cruisers. Being 150 meters in length and 48.6 meters width they were an opposing sight to the soldiers on the ground. They carried a crew of 165, with room for 200 more should they need to take on passengers or troops. It sported a total of 20 decks including a docking bay which could house up to 15 fighters.
Posted Image
The center ship however was the most opposing of sights to the citizens of this now fully alert city. It was a Vanguard class battleship which spanned about 1,137 meters in length and 548 meters in width. Within the confines of her 50 decks, she housed 2,400 crew members and could hold over 3,000 troops. Her massive fighter bay could house over 800 fighters.
Cardinal Victoria, who was stations on the battleship gracefully glided through the octagon in shape corridor of the ship to the bridge. The door (all ship doors open like the blast doors off of the death star) opened and the sound of the rain could be heard on the glass-like plating of the bridge. As the Cardinal entered she was greeted by the commander of the vessel.
"Welcome to the bridge your grace" said Commander David. "We are presently holding over the city of Fengkang as you requested. From our scans it would seem we've alerted the towns people however we've met no hostility as of yet"
"I see" said the Cardinal. "Open a full band communication channel Commander"
"Channels open your grace"
"Soldiers of the Holy Veloryan Legion, my name is Cardinal Victoria of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth. I come to you in peace and in the name of the Marinite church. I bare with me food and other supplies I am sure your people could use and I ask only that I be allow to speak with your leaders...."
OOC: Richard Rahl? :huh:
OOC: Possibly. :gnarkgnark:
IC:
The Arch-Bishop and his companions had joined the Knights of Christ in a great diplomatic banquet. Over the dinner, they discussed things such as theology and many of the great boons an benefits under the holy guidance of the Christ Mount which not only contained the still living brains of deceased El Dejarboans, but also the brains of the last 300 true Genesian Popes.
It was sometime during the dinner that Arch-Bishop Rahl was radioed by the Salvation. He excused himself for a moment before walking to the edge of the room. "What is it? This had be very important to interfere with a diplomatic exchange as important as this one."
"Apologies, Your Grace, but ship scanners have picked up vessels several hundred miles from our position," reported the officer on the Salvation. "Design implicate Commonwealth origin."
The Arch-Bishop's eyes narrowed at the sound of this. "The heretics. Send a probe over to find out what's happening."
"Yes... at once, Your Grace."
Fengkang, Isle of Taiwan
Giant floodlights that the Holy Veloryan Legion had installed were turned up an affixed on the massive shapes above, whose lights were also flooding the city, creating an eerie brightness reminiscent of midday at this late in the evening. At first, the HVL panicked. Legionaries were called out and armed, ready to go into battle. It was not clear whether or not these huge ships were friend or foe. They had only the most primitive of lazer defenses, and so were forced to hope that they received a transmission.
Thankfully they did. The stately woman on the viewscreen was reassuring, as surely she could not be a soldier. When she mentioned that she just wanted to talk, the Legionaries were greatly relieved. Their fear assuaged, Legate Sextus Torquatus hailed the Vanguard.
"We accept your offer, honorable masters of the World Outside. All churchpeople are protected within our walls, and we assure you that we shall treat your envoy with the utmost respect. We will receive your shuttle on the docking pad if you wish. I am Legate Sextus Torquatus if the Holy Veloryan Legion, and I welcome you to my homeland..."
"I will be sending two knights along with you your grace for protection" said Commander David as we walked Cardinal Victoria to the fighter bay of the ship.
"Although I do not believe there to be any fear here Commander" said the Cardinal "I will accept your recommendation."
As they approached the transport, the Commander bowed as did the two knights awaiting the Cardinal. The Cardinal walked into the transported followed by four others all dressed in church vestments, some looking like nothing more than priest while others dawned more elaborate dress, denoting their status within the church.
As the shuttle began to lift off, the mighty doors of the bay open from the rear of the ship and the shuttle left, making it's way to the ground below. It was surely not the best of days for such an important meeting as the wind and rained were not the most inviting however this was am important meeting.
Posted Image
The shuttle landed as the prescribed landing pad. As the engines let off their exhaust, the rear of the ship began to hiss as the airtight door opened.
Posted Image
When the exit ramp had fully extended and touched down the party began to disembark. While leaving the confines of the ship they were greeted by Legate Sextus as well as by the small delegation that accompanied him. The Cardinal walked gracefully down the ramp, carrying with her a wooden staff which bore the cross on top.
It was an important piece for all Cardinals within the Marinite church. For though it appeared to be nothing more than a wooden staff with a gold end cap on one end and a magnificently sculpted gold cross on the other, embellished with a red gem stone in it's center it was much more. Embedded within the staff where several graviton emitters which when activate could effect the gravity around the staff. In the most simply of descriptions, the staff allow for it's possessor to make things float, as well as use gravity as a defensive weapon by either pushing away a small force, stopping projectiles in motion or protecting one self with a shield of gravity. The staff could only be activated however through a gauntlet for which a Cardinal wore on their right arm.
"As a representative of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth, I Cardinal Victoria come in the name of peace" said the Cardinal as she extended her hand. The Legate accepted her hand and began to escort her out of the rain. They came into one of the Legion's main halls where a large table was setup for their use. After showing the Cardinal to her seat Legate Sextus took his own seat.
"As I said Legate Sextus, I come baring gifts of food and medicine, supplies I am sure you are in need of. The Commonwealth as seen the horrors that this endless war has brought and we have come to help. Please, to better help I must understand the situation you are currently in?"
The Langarri scientists had made it to the Menhadian fleet. Under the disguise of their cloak they had remain hidden as they flew through the fleet, astonished at the size of the ships and their numbers. It had taken them an hour but Cornelius and Alabaster had made the modification to the Relativity needed to make the plan a success.
Though Alabaster was still worried that the plan wouldn't work, he kept his fears to himself as he knew that now there would be no turning back for his friend. Thus, with the ships only weapons, three phaser banks, ready the ship decloaked and opened fire on two Menhadian cruisers. The phasers by Langarri standards were only secondary weapons, and since all Langarri weapons were no lethal by design, the phasers and their targeting computer were programed to target ship's engines and weapons systems only.
Thus the Menhadian cruisers targeted and hit only sustained minor damages to their engines and some weapon platforms. Though no real damage was done, it was enough to anger the Menhadians who opened fire. Luckily with the technology the Menhadians had at their disposal, wasn't enough to penetrate the superior langarri shields however the constant bombardment did make for a bump ride as the ship went to an escape path.
The rest of the Menhadien fleet continued towards earth. Earth was drawing near and old enemies where to be found on earth, not knowing a monster from their past was slowly creeping its was towards earth.
Fire and blood would follow shortly.
A message was broadcasting on all hailing frequencies from Earth, specifically, from an area of Western Europe known in the past as The Commune of the Amish Children. The message was short, and repeated, over and over:
OOC: I can't believe I missed your post, sorry about that. Oh an boarding the ship wouldn't be a good idea...
IC:
"I told you this was a bad idea" screamed Alabaster as the Relativity hurled towards the black hole.
"Well it's a little late now to turn back, did you bring the dish online?" asked Cornelius as he continued to fly the ship in an avasive manner.
"Sub-space dish is online, and ready to fire once we are in range of the black hole"
The ship continued on it's course and the Menhadians followed not affair at the blackhole while laid ahead of them. Finally after almost a thirty minute chase the Relativity came to a halt. The Menhadians ships began to encircle the ship, making it impossible for it to escape. Then to their surprise thick beam of green light shot out from the ship's communication dish and into the black hole. Instantly it was sucked in and then to their amazement the beam began to get wider and wider until finally a tunnel of three light appeared.
It was at this point that Alabaster began to the business of expanding their shields to encompass the entire attack fleet. Before the Menhadians knew what was going on, they two found their ships inside the Relativity's shields. At first they saw this as an opportunity to board the vessel but then when the idea that this was some sort of trap, they decided to destroy the ship less they lose their lives over it.
Hell fire began to rain down on the now fully exposed ship. Her thick hull was now losing strength and Cornelius knew the plan was a failure. The time device was gathering energy to activate itself while the ship was being assaulted and key systems were beginning to fail.
"We can't continue to hold the shields Cornelius" yelled Alabaster. "We have to decompress the shield so that at least we can save ourselves. If we don't make this jump the device will overload and we'll all be gone."
"Agreed" yelled Cornelius as he began to make the adjustments.
Instantly the shield lower and the Menhadian ships were free. As they back away from the ship, they saw a sight they would never forget. With the device now fully charged, it activated. This ship's shields began to illuminate in a bright white light, making the entire ship look like one big orb of light. Then without warming the orb, shot like a bullet out of a gun into the green tunnel made within the black hole. Once out of site of the outside Menhadians, the tunnel began to collapse and the Menhadians found themselves alone...
"This is Cardinal Allison of the Holy Catholic Commonwealth Citizen Obadiah Kaine.  It would certainly be prudent for our forces to work in harmony should the healing of the Hispanic people be our goals. Of course as it stands our two people have never had formal introductions. Perhaps you would allow us to host you for a dinner so that we can better get to know each other."
Obadiah fumed silently to himself, unaware of the blinking light on his radar signifying the presence of the Yshurakan hovership (and so to did the broadcast from the Amish go unnoticed).
Obadiah knew all too well what could happen should he be caught by the infected - the IDP had never needed to develope a cure for the infection, which made his situation all the more precarious. But in his own vessel, protected by a sheild and defended by battle droids, Obadiah felt safe. Leaving his research fortress was gambling with his life. Yet Obadiah knew that there was no way he could conduct his work now that other parties had taken a major interest in the plight of Hispania: that he would have to be diplomatic and work with them in order to accomplish his own goals. And the only way to do that, would to be on amenable terms with them.
"I would be delighted to enjoy your gracious gift of hospitality." Obediah broadcast in reply, trying to repress the feeling of his stomach churning at the inefficiency of eating solid foodstuffs rather than simply swallowing nutrition tablets.
****
The IDP was not religious. This was not because the Calculator found any flaw with religion - yes, it could be used as an excuse for attrocities, but it could also inspire creativity. Rather it was because of the sticky aspect of morality.
A moral population might take qualms with taking the measures required to advance the species: such as the semi-secrete Eugenics Pogroms undertaken to weed out undesirable genetic traits from the populas of the IDP. And religions were invariably based on a code: a hard form of conduct that could not be adapted nearly fast enough - in the opinion of the Calculator - to the changing world.
And so from birth to grave, the citizens of the IDP were indoctrinated subliminally to reject religion. To associate it with the horrors of the past. To link it to the radical terrorists who threatened their way of life.
****
Temporal Security Agency, IDP
Two men, known simply as 'Agent 3' and 'Agent 5', sat at their workstations. Their job would be considered boring and monotomus by many. Their job was to sit at their workstations while advanced automated machines known as 'scanners' looked for the tell tale 'temporal distortion waves' that denoted an alteration had been made to the space-time continuum. As no nation, so it was believed, had access to technology that would effect the space-time continuum which meant that on a typical day of the week, a TSA agent's job might as be to watch paint dry.
But not, it seemed, today...
****
Infection Control Agency, IDP
The inventively named ICA was responsible for keeping killer diseases from sweeping through the IDP. When recieving a transmission from Western Europe warning of death, the ICA needed to do very little. Only five of it's five billion citizens were outside the boarders and the only one of them in Western Europe was Citizen Obediah Kaine, who was investigating infection and death. But still... this warning of doom perhaps warrented it's own investigation. An unmaned spy-craft would be flown over what was still marked as the 'Amish Commune' on the maps of the IDP to take pictures of the events unfolding there. And perhaps what was revealed would be of interest to Citizen Kaine...
****
Rachel DosSantos Emmanulas was a fugitive. In the vulgar argot of the Citizens of the IDP: she was Rim Meat - someone not connected to the Neural Network, an almost sub-human non-entity.
By the law of the IDP, all citizens living within it's boarders were required to be connected to the Neural Network at all times: it was the last law passed in Nag Ehgoeg, the law that marked the birth of the IDP.
But there were those, all those years ago, who had rebelled. Who had refused to "take the mark" of the Neural Gauntlet. And even now their rebellion lived on.
It was in the desolate wasteland of what was once Syntha Prime that the majority of these fugatives lived: scavaging in the ruins living as free men and women.
The media of the IDP portrayed them as outlaws and terrorists: dangerous individuals who felt threatened by progress and science but who were too stubborn to leave their "ancestral homeland" and so plotted to overthrow the IDP and forge their own backwoods nation. And while it was true that some had this goal, the majority merely wished to live their lives in peace.
Rachel DosSantos Emmanulas, was one of those who wished she could live in peace. But she was special.
Her linage could be traced back to Martha DosSantos Aveiro-Medici Emmanulas Malfisto - which made her a scion of both the Royal Bloodline of the old Papacy of Genesis and of both the ruling families of old Nag Ehgoeg. And furthermore, it was known that she considered herself to be a devout Catholic.
Many of the fugitives of Syntha Prime looked to her as a spiritual leader of sorts. Which meant to the rest of the IDP, she was the head of the terrorist organisation which was the single biggest threat to their way of life...
