Diablo nodded, his gloved hands steepled together in satisfaction. The deal with Gassel had been made. Now the time to crush the El Dejarboan government once and for all was about to come. He turned to his men and began to execute an order when two more of his men ran into the room. "Diablo," one said with a panting breath. "We have a problem. The El Dejarboan government has been saved by Kasnyia. A hundred elite soldiers, and they're helping El Dejarbo's military reorganize. They're searching the city for this safe house. We must get you out as soon as possible before they arrive." Diablo's eyes widened in rage. "Damnation! This outrage will be quelled immediately. I wanted the presidente alive, but if he forces my hand, I will destroy him." Suddenly gunfire erupted around the building, and then a voice from outside the room said: "It's already too late, they're here! Arm your positions and protect Diablo at all costs!" |

Diablo wheeled around to Scherz, who was already on the radio, reaching the Koramatros. Diablo- We need assisstance NOW! Scherz- I am already on it. The Koramatros will enter the harbor and fire her guns on all enemies! In the mean time we must run! Diablo- No need to worry. Juan! Get the mattress! Juan- Yes, Diablo! With that the rebel ran to the corner of the barren concrete room, where a single old mattress was laying. Moving it, Scherz could see a hole that led into a lit catacombs. Diablo- Through here we can get to a farm in the outskirts of the city, but we must hurry! Juan- Diablo! Senor Scherz! The guards have just told me that they will infiltratet heb uilding within a few minutes! Diablo- Damn! We leave now! Juan! Tell them to set the charges! They want this house, they will get it! Juan- Yes, Diablo! I shall inform them! With that Scherz and Diablo jumped into the hole, landing in the flame-lit catacombs of the city. Juan followed soon after, where soon after that a rumbling explosion was heard. Diablo- I had the house wired with explosives in case of something liek this, to cover out escape. And what of reinforcements apart from your men taking over this city? Scherz- If we can get access to an airfield, the General has said that he can give you air support as well.... Diablo- I know of such a place...it is controlled by the government, but with your assisstance, we can take the field. For now, though, we must get to the city outskirts. Scherz- Will they follow us? I mean, assuming the find the hole... Diablo- Most certainly, but this place is filled with my men, and stocked with weapons. Scherz- I will tell out forces to send men into the catacombs to once we have taken a good enoughb portion of the city to help. Diablo- You General Gassel is most indeed a great individual. ------------------- General Ruiz- We have found a safe house, where Diablo was said to have been prior to our attack. We have not found him however. Kasnyian Commander- A tip off? General Ruiz- Either that or there is an escape route that he took during the attack Kasnyian Commander- I will send a KASOC unit to search for him. Meanwhile, I suggest you clean house and make sure there are no traitors. General Ruiz- Of course. |

A series of investigations took place through the ranks of the military the following day, searching for any possibility of treachery. So far, no traitors had been found. General Ruiz had not been surprised, as he had trusted most of these men time and again with his life. It was when the report of a hole found in the exploded safe house that his earlier suspicions were verified.... The villain had used an escape route. He immediately ordered a team to find out where the tunnel went, and then reported his findings to the Kasnyian Commander. |

Kasnyian Commander- Hmmm...tell me, just how complex and extensive are these catacombs? General Ruiz- They cover an area larger than the city. As for their complexity, I am having our archives checked for any and all information regarding any sort of map for the catacombs. Kasnyian Commander- I understand. KASOC has been sent inside the hole to look out for them. Just then, a lieutenant to Ruiz came up, panting. Dejarboan soldier- General! A large ship has arrived at the harbor in the city! They are firing on our positions! Kasnyian Commander- Diablo has a ship?! General Ruiz- No! Of course not! This is someone else. Kasnyian Commander- An ally? General Ruiz- If they are attacking my men, then most certainly. Kasnyian Commander- Ask your lieutenant about this ship.. General Ruiz- Soldier, do you recognize it's class or type..or nationality? Lieutenant- It's the largest warship I have ever seen, General! It doesn;t hav any turrets, but some of the men have reported seeing many heavy-looking doors on the main deck. General Ruiz- Any markings? Lieutenant- They had two flags on it. One is read with a skull on it, and the other is black, with some sort of golden emblem on it... General Ruiz- What nation has that... The Kasnyian Commander, however, had gone silent almost at the moment when the young soldier started describing the ship, and worried the moment he started describing the flags...because any Kasnyian would know what that was describing... Kasnyian Commander- Ask your men if there was a name on the side of the ship... General Ruiz- Lieutenant, was there a name? Lieutenant- Couldn't say... Kasnyian Commander- General Ruiz. This matter ha suddenly been made complicated for us all. General Ruiz- What is going on? Kasnyian Commander- I will have to confirm this with command but..if my suspicions are right, then Diablo has just allied himself with the most dangerous man in all of Asia.... General Ruiz- And what shall we do? Kasnyian Commander- I will send KASOC to the docks to help your men. You send your best teams into the catacombs. General Ruiz- It shall be done. ------------------------------- For the last few days, Scherz, Diablo, and their men were going through the catacombs, getting rest when they could. No one had found them yet, which meant the Koramatros was doing it's job by keeping the enemy busy. They were nowhere near the end of the catacombs yet...maybe not even half way as of yet, as this place extended for miles in every direction. Diablo- WHen we get out, we will head straight for the airfield I mentioned at take it away from the government. Then it will be up to you. Scherz- No worries. The General never negates a promise. |

Don't get me wrong, anyone with a couple of nuclear warships is dangerous, but there are certainly people above him, especially because he is a subordinate member of an organization (the Pirate thingy). Gassel would probably be in the top five, but not #1. |

During the escape of Diablo through the underground tunnel, El Dejarbo's police force and military had been bolstered and were able to push most of Diablo's men out of the capital city, Renu Grande. With the retreat of Diablo's forces and the El Dejarbo government now controlling most of the capital again, Konstantin Ganz Gassel had lost most of his support on the Renu Grande port. As the battleship in the harbor battered the port, El Dejarboan troops were able to move in positions of defense as they avoided the lines of primary fire. More and more troops came down into docks, manning positions that would soon make retaliatory strikes. Cannons were suddenly fired in great mass towards Gassel's battleship, notably from areas where the vessel had not been concentrating any fire at all. The communication lines were activated for a split moment to call aid from a couple of El Dejarbo's own battleships. Gassel's vessel was about to be outnumbered by the quickly regrouping El Dejarboan military. |

On the Koramatros, Captain Van Meers was looking at the sitiuation with a frowned stare. Captain Van Meers- Diablo's men have lost the city. Reverse engines! Left full rudder! I want this ship to pull back to one mile distance. Then ready silos one and two for standby. First Officer- Aye, sir! ------------- With that, the Koramatros pulled out of the lost port out of the range of the police guns. They also contacted General Gassel who was on his own ship out in the Pacific. If Diablo lost, they would atleast allow him the honor of a "parting gift". -------------- Meanwhile, Diablo, Scherz, and the rest of the men with them had finally found the exit, at an old farmhouse in the outskirts, not yet touched by the police. Diablo- And now we shall procure the airfield. Scherz- Good. --------------- Kasnyian Commander- Your men are doing an admirable job. You managed to chase away a very dangerous threat. General Ruiz- My men could not of done it without your support. Perhaps one of your airships could attack this warship as well? Kasnyian Commander- Do you not want recon? General Ruiz- He is your enemy, yes? This would be a perfect oppotunity. Kasnyian Commander- ...I will confer with Command.... ------------- |

As the El Dejarboan navy began to patrol its national waters, the hunt for Diablo continued on the mainland. The reorganized military forces scoured the Renu Grande area for any sign of the nefarious villain. While a few of his followers had been captured in raids, none of them were willing to talk where the "Great Diablo" was hiding. General Ruiz immediately received a report that his troops searching the underground tunnel sustained an ambush from Diablo's men at a farm house where it exited. They were able to overcome this ambush, but not without sustaining a great loss. What was worse, the prisoners obtained reported that Diablo and his new allies had already left the farm. "Goddamnit!" Ruiz said with a pound on his desk. "This bastard is a slippery one." |

Kasnyian Commander- Indeed he is. How many ships did you send after the Koramatros? General Ruiz- The entire navy. Kasnyian Commander- I shall check with Command of we too have any ships available. General Ruiz- What, I haven't put enough? Kasnyian Commander- Against these ships, there is no such thing as enough. General Ruiz- I see. -------------------------------- The airfield was nestled in a valley about 30 miles from the closest city. It consisted of a single large airstrip of cracked concrete, a small control tower, and a series of hangers filled with old splinched aircraft. It only had about 20 soldiers guarding it. A mile away from a perfect vantage point, Scherz and Diablo looked on. Diablo- What do you think? Scherz- I can call the Koramatros to send in a small squad of Hinds disguised as Kasnyian Air Force to help clear the area but while the guards are being kept busyt we still have to lead the assault ourselves. Diablo- Okay. Let's do it then. |

"What do you mean they sent out a few boats?" General Ruiz asked with puzzlement over the phone. "Well of course boats that size would be heading towards the mainland. Send someone to pursue them, damnit. Yes, continue form a position of assault around the enemy... do not fire until everyone's in position." He hung up his phone and looked up at the Kasnyian Commander. "It would seem this Gassel creature is up to something new...." |

The airfield was nestled between the mountains, with a low concrete building and wooden tower acting as the airport. Scherz and Diablo and their crew looked on from a safe distance, lying low in wait, marking out the various targets. They could already make out two patrol jeeps and atleast three dozen men. Scherz had called in air support an hour ago, and so far he had heard something about boats being sent out. Decoys, he knew. These were to keep the enemy's eyes off the Koramatros and on the landing craft. And of course, if the Government forces ignored the boats, they would have a full sclae coastal invasion on their hands, which was something theu just were not cut out for. Soon though, Scherz could hear the familiar rhythmic patter of the Hind gunships approaching the airfield. With his binoculars, he could see the techies in the control tower scurrying to find out just who that was. They didn't stand a chance, Scherz thought. On cue, the five helicopters approached over the mountain summit on the far side of where they were, weapons already active. Within a moment the proceeded to slaughter whomever was on that airfield. After about a half hour of bloodshed, the helicopters lazily landed on the airfield, their crews helping themselves to fuel, with one immediately taking off again to patrol the airfield...the airfield which now belonged to Diablo. Scherz, Diablo and the rest came down to meet with them. As they did so, Scherz turned toward Diablo. Scherz- You have your airfield. You have yourself the planes that are stationed here and the services of these fine Mils you see before you. Diablo- Thank you friend. Scherz- We have also called for a coastal invasion of El Dejarbo. Any of your network on the coastal area shall assist. Diablo- Of course. Scherz- So. Anything else? --------------------------------- The original boats had been joined by more and more as time went by...seond wave...third wave...and on and on....and then they started to spread out. To Ruiz and the Kasnyian Commander, it was obvious that they were going to invade. |

"Goddamnit," General Ruiz cursed. "They distracted us with boats while helicopters took an airfield not too far from here." The Kasnyian Commander nodded with a grimace. "Konstantin Ganz Gassel is a brilliant strategist. We need to outthi—" "Already on to you," General Ruiz said. "Diablo is more a fool than he has let on. That airfield they took is not far from the farm house my boys found. I'll be sending an all out assault against that field from neighboring military bases. We'll have him" "What about the coastal invasion?" "Gassel can't take an entire country with only a few boats. Our navy's got that covered." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The coastal invasion was challenging, but not altogether impossible to stop. In fact, El Dejarbo's navy had the home team advantage. More combat vessels were launched from the ports to take on Gassel's invasion force. The rogue military leader wasn't invincible, and El Dejarbo knew that. Their ships vastly outnumbered his, and they weren't afraid to flex this muscle against him one bit. Explosions filled the El Dejarboan coastal waters as a violent conflict erupted between the Republic's forces and the waterborne terrorist leader. |

On the Koramatros, Captain Van Meers was looking over a map of the Dejarban coastline. He had gambled on the Diablo forces to somehow diable a good potion of the fleet, so that his boats would have a reletively quick time of taking the shoreline. And so far all that was happening was the fact that he had the entire Dejarban Navy going all out to stop him. He called his First Officer to get in contact with Scherz. They needed Diablo's help NOW! -------- Meanwhile, the Hind patrol had long since detected the armed force inbound to the airfield and informed Scherz and Diablo below. Scherz- We have 10 minutes. Can your men fly? Diablo- Yes. Scherz- Then steal as many planes as you possibly can. I will board one of the Hinds and start buying you time. I want you to fly out to safety. Diablo- But the airfield- Scherz- Lost. But no worries...once We;re through with them, there will be no airfield left to take. Diablo- Thank- Scherz- Hold on. I just got a transmission from my commander. We need your asistance now! The entire Dejarban navy is out in force! Do what you can to sabotage their ports and any boats that haven't left yet. The Koramatros is going into full assault mode. Diablo- I will do what I can. Thank you anyway. With that, Diablo and his men manned whatever planes where stationed here and took off. Scherz and the Topaz-operated Hinds on the otherhand took off and readied themselves to make an airstrike against the advancing army. -------------------------------- The Koramatros had indeed gone into battlemode. Rather than go broadside to the coastline, the ship kept her bow pointed toward the mainland, allowing the boats to protect her fron while she took care of the flanks. The boats themselves had started closing distance with the other ships as fast as they could to stop them from launching any viable long-range attack on them, while at the same time forcing them to use their mounted auto-cannons, which did not do much damage. However, they had more numbers, and it soon became obvious that if Diablo could not pull through, the boats would have to retreat back to the Tortoise, a floating, weaponized boat hanger that had trailed the Koramatros. |

Diablo's men were not many. In fact he only had enough men to populate the ranks of a small, local corporation. And as it stood now, they were far too spread out across El Dejarbo to be very affective on the coast. There were only under a hundred men on the coast. That itself was not enough to do much damage to the ship yards. Still, by Diablo's radioed orders, they tried their best. Several bombs were detonated, but none of them made large enough dents. The navy forces and local police were able to repel most attempts made by Diablo's followers to sabotage the ports. Diablo's brilliant scheme to conquer El Dejarbo was finally starting to fall apart. And all for one reason.... Diablo had been overly reliant on his supercomputer that had accomplished much of his initial damage to the country and disorganized its armed forces. But since he was currently miles away from that powerful machine, his stranglehold on El Dejarbo was weakened. He needed to get back to his headquarters now and activate the supercomputer again. It was his only hope to winning now. He ordered the pilot of the fighter jet he was in to immediately head back to the base while the rest were ordered to support their faltering ground forces at the coast. This seemed a cunning strategy when suddenly a squadron of jets appeared out of the blue sky and several tailed Diablo's stolen fighter. It was the El Dejarboan air force. Already they were engaging the other stolen jet fighters while the army moved to retake the airfield. This was not going well. Suddenly an annoying beeping filled the cockpit. "What is that noise?" Diablo demanded. "They've targeted us, sir," replied his pilot. "I can try to outfly them before they fire if you wish it...." "No!" Diablo shouted. "I will not take the chance and be blasted out of the sky. Take us down for a landing now!" "As you wish...." |

It was useless. Diablo's men had failed. The boats retreated as fast as their engines would take them. The Koramatros crew were disgusted in their allies on the ground. An hour later, red alert was cancelled and they soon started to ready themselves for a retreat out of Dejarban waters. They would recall the Hinds and Scherz. If Diablo could pull his act together in a week's time, they would return to help again, but as it stood, it was obvious the Diablo's scheme was at it's end. And so the Koramatros quietly slipped away and out of sight, waiting in a place close enough to give assistance again once Diablo was ready for it. They would wait a week. Then they would leave. And perhaps with a little present to give them, if they felt it neccessary. ----------------------------- Scherz was probably the only one still optimistic, but that was only because he was making mince meat out of the assault force they had sent against the airfield (as they had no viable air cover with them for some reason). However, he soon got the order from Van Meers to retreat with the gunships. Though dissapointed, he complied, and was now under orders to watch the Diablo sitiuation from afar for one week. If things became worse or did not change, they would retreat, sending a goodbye present to the Dejarbans (or if they were merciful, a supply package to Diablo if he still survived). |

El Dejarbo National News, the finest news station in Renu Grande.... (The screen quality is extremely static filled, as Diablo destroyed a lot of communications equipment.) Today the vile terrorist known as Diablo was apprehended after his stolen plane was forced down just west of the Andes Mountains. The terrorist caused much chaos within our fine country of El Dejarbo, and nearly forged a deadly alliance with rogue military leader Konstantin Ganz Gassel, but thanks to aid from the Empire of Kasnyia, the government and military was able to put a stop to his terrible plot. When apprehended, Diablo surprised the air force pilots by his extremely peculiar appearance. Apparently he was dressed in a costume that can only be described as... comic book villain attire. (Some laughter in the studio.) Oh yes, he must have looked simply smashing in those dark tights and cape. Anyway, once he was brought to the Renu Grande City Jail, it was a further shock to discover his... "secret identity"... *chuckle* was in fact one Ricardo Martinez, son of Adan Martinez, president of Martinez Inc., a successful multi-billion dollar business with outlets throughout the entirety of South America. Ricardo was to be the heir of his father's business after he had passed on, but, according to a surprised statement by Adan, "has been written out of the will." Adan continued that instead his business will be inherited by his junior partner, Hugo Diaz. Ricardo Martinez is to be tried for his crimes against El Dejarbo to the fullest extent of the law. No report yet on who will be defending him. |

The Koramatros had heard the broadcast. They were even MORE disgusted now. They decided that, rather than launch an nuclear attack on El Dejarbo, they would forward to the El Dejarbo government all of Diablo's designs for conquest, which they were sure would be used in the trial against him. And so, in disgust, they left. |
