The point of a colony in this forum is to increase your land area and to have bases in faraway locations. A colony will also let you control strategic resources.

But the colony doesn't contribute anything to your overall population or overall GDP. Your population depends only on your mother country. Therefore colony nationstates accounts literally mean nothing and contribute nothing. They only serve as a placeholder which reserves your land claim. A 5 million pop. Colony account is as good as a 6 billion pop. colony account - both are considered to have 0 GDP. From the point of calculating your stats, you could simply claim faraway colonial land with your mother country, without making any new colony account; your stats would be no different than if you made a new account and moved it into the continent you wish to colonize.

Also, you can have no colonies whatsoever and still recruit a great army from your own country. In WWII the German Army was consisted of only people from Germany, and successfully defeated the French (who had colonies all over the place).

First of all, the fact that its a small number shouldn't matter. If its small enough that I should be willing to sacrifice principle and disregard it, then its also small enough that it shouldn't matter to you if we get rid of it.

Take this example:

A new nation gets the minimum 15 CPs. They decide that's too weak, so they found five colonies (we have five regions and the Americas allow two nations) and get 10 extra CP. They've just exploited a loophole in the rules to increase their CPs by 67%.
