Sledgehammer Attack: An attack where a nation uses all of its strength in an attack which makes it harder to attack again. Baseball attack: A hard attack where a nation can quickly recuperate and attack again. Pincher attack: A quick attack that does little damage. Any suggestions for add ons? |

Pincer Attack is an extremely common term. It may be your dictionary, but making up new meanings for standard terms isn't a good way to get your dictionary used. |

Swinging Door. Entice the enemy to the center of your line, then swing one side like a screen door to sweep them into your other troups. (Gettysburg, Cpt. Chamberlain at the far left end of the line, day one.) |

Perhaps all y'all are confused. I'm rather familiar with the "Pincer" manouever, but since Kasnyia misspelled it "Pincher" in his post, maybe they are both terms and Q is just confused. But then again I too use sortie in that context. Just opening up the possibilty for all parties being right. And anyways, what do you call that Parthian tactic of a faux retreat that entices your enemy to follow you, and then counter-attacking him when he least expects it? Thats a strategy, right? |
