I enjoy a little poetry every once and a while. I used to write it as well... but it never turned out as well as I had hoped.

So now I spend most of my efforts on creative writing.

 I'm good on that debate, thanks.

As for China, we'll have a major problem on our hands in a few years if we dont figure something out now. They could crash our economy if they wanted too.

Nowadays every country is so interconnected we can't do without each other. A healthy economy in China means a healthy economy in America, and vice versa. So if China crashes the American economy, it will just boomerang back and crash the Chinese economy.

I'm Asian but I don't like any of the Asian countries! China - a flawed, fragile, corrupt society in too many ways. Japan - too neurotic. South Korea - racist. North Korea - no need for me to explain. Phillippines - they're all white supremacists in the Phillippines! :o Vietnam - almost as arrogant as the USA. Indonesia - too Muslim  Taiwan is alright in most aspects but their former President cosplays so I totally don't respect them. The best countries in my opinion are the USA and Brazil.

Very correct, in my experience! B)

But really, I appreciate the Phillipines' Catholocism. Lucky we owned them by '45 or Truman woulda nuked them! Did you know that Nagasaki was a colony established by Portugese (i believe) missionaries for Catholic converts!? They nuked us. :(

Agh. The Catholic Church has no place in Asia. Christianity has no place in Asia. It depresses me that Korea is nowadays majority-Christian. Good thing Japan massacred all its Christians by the 1630s and swiftly kicked out the Portuguese missions, and in doing so preserved the purity of Japanese culture from western corruption!

Philipinos are truly the shifty bastards. They are white supremacists, to a man. They all want to marry white people and have whiter babies. Talk about having no roots! No dignity or self-respect!

/Asian xenophobia rant  :D :D

lol, that got me thinking. I don't know if this is true or not, but I read an amusing anecdote somewhere. I read that the U.S. Census used to classify my race (Asian Indians), as well as Middle Easterners, as Caucasian. However, according to this reference I came across, a group of Indian businessmen, looking for minority business benefits, convinced the Reagan Government to reclassify South Asians with East Asians as in the current Census classification "Asian". Don't know if this is true or not, but I have always found it awkward that an Indian and a Chinese person are both classified as racially "Asian" while not being racially similar at all.

I will admit, I am a Tico - Costa Rican descent - and Italian. However, I would just be all the merrier if we could all just be Americans... B)

I agree! Unfortunately, there's a huge political advantage in propagating racial distinctions in Americans. There are many who would call one racist for advocating a color-blind society.

Lol yeah racial labels are funny things. This reminds me of the interesting policy in Apartheid-era South Africa, where Chinese people were offiicially categorized as "Asians" (along with Asian Indians and Malays) while Japanese and Taiwanese were considered "Honorary Whites" who had equal privileges with the real whites.

If there isn't anything that pisses me off are those who advocate the "race" card. I do take pride of my heritage but not at the expense of our adopted country. ;) Color blind society is what Martin Luther preached. There are some people who will have to answer for this racial travesty under God.

I despise racism, but this is one of the things that the idiots at Stormfront might be right about: racism that gives preferential treatment to the minoritys is just as bad as racism that hurts a minority.

TC: Interesting. Taiwan was under Japanese rule for some time, right? Perhaps it was due to political considerations, since Japan became an imperial power, while China was among the exploited nations?

Yes I believe so. And the fact that Japan fought on the side of Nazi Germany in WWII probably gave it credibility in the eyes of the Apartheid regime.

Yes, i agree racism isnt right and isnt good but as much as we dislike racism, it shall never dim. It is human instinct to hate those who are different than them, history is full of myriads of examples - the spartans and the athenians, the romans and the carthagians, the muslims and the jews, the whites and blacks, the german and the french. Racism goes back to the beginning of man. One could say if we were to purify the world, turn us all one race (white, blonde, blue eyes) that racism could dim but one would be wrong because even if we were the same, human instinct would find something, some quality that belongs to one group, perhaps one group had longer hair, and then nitpick that and the short hair people would be discrimatinate against the long hair people. Racism is an endless cycle, wheter we like or not just like war.

Or religion. Or nationality. Or height. Or eye color. Or hair color. It is natural for humans to hate others: those who overcome this hate have acomplished one of the greatest feats possible for a human.
