The Very Model of a Modern Major General
|
So, I was reading an article in Discover, an interview with Will Wright, the guy who made all the Sim games, and it talked about his next game. Its called spore, and, essentially, you start out as a single-celled organism in a pool of pond scum, trying to eat as much as you can without being eaten. Then you evolve, and become a primitive sea creature. Once you become a multi-celled organism, you can develop more and more intelligence, until you enter the tribal stage. After the tribal stage, you build a city, and, once your city has conquered the planet (either through force or through diplomacy), you can build a spaceship and spread throughout the galaxy, colonizing and terraforming planets. Its the perfect game. It goes from Pac Man to Civilization, and you get to customize your creature as it evolves. This is a link to the official website, and this link is a video on Google that has Will Wright's explanation of the game. Check them out. This game looks really cool. |

Indeed! I've been waiting for a game like this. I was seriously considering going out and learning how to make a game like that because ever since I played Civ II I've wanted a game like this. |

I have to say this is a really awesome looking game. Of course it would have to be for a computer....sigh. I'm a console gamer, and I never use my computer for games...mainly because of my horrible luck with computers. However, I may break from tradition and seriously think about this one. |

Ha! Mackintosh. Oh the amusment. But seriously, though, can't Macs run Windows OS? That's what the commercials claim, at least. |

Not to go horribly off-topic here, but since I know little about computers and all I was wondering what the difference was between window's based computers, and Macs? My cousin (who is currently looking for a new laptop, since she's fried the last couple she's had...this all in less than four years) was told by a guy at our local best buy that the Mac's operate differently than your regular computers and that they aren't comprisable to virus? Now the virus part I hardly believe but knowing little about computers I didn't argue. So please, could someone give me the 411...oh and in terms I could understand  :P |

Macs make up something like 5% of the market, so no one wastes their time writing viruses for them - not a big enough target, so, yes, you are much less likely to get a virus on a mac. Secondly, it uses a completely different operating system, developed independent of MicroSoft. Operating system is supposed to be more stable than windows, particularly if you are heavy into graphics. |

There is currently officially supported software to run Windows as a second operating system on Intel-powered Macs. However, it involves buying the program, as well as a Windows license. Rather small market for it I suspect... |

Oh yeah, I'd never call it realistic. I just want to play God by creating legions of mythological creatures who conquer the universe! MWUAHAHAHAHA! I think I'll start out with a race of peaceful, highly intelligent traders who follow Ganesha. They'd have an elephant's head, four arms, and they'd be reddish or yellow! Huzzah! |

Funny you should mention this game, since I have 3 magazines with it preveiws of it in it. I'm looking forward to playing this game when it comes out... though If I had to guess... its going to be a demanding game for a PC. Prolly a large file size as well. Looks like its time for an upgrade for my PC! |

Huzzah! And then you're people will be avenged as the stupid mongoloida are overwhelmed by the technology your traders leave behind and end up killing themselves with it! (toasters can be deadly) Huzzah! B) |
