To: The Congress of the Confederacy
From: The Senate of the Libertarian Alliance of Durick Veta

Gentlemen, thank you for your time in reading this. We would like to applaud you for the refounding of the Confederacy, which, while flawed as all governments are, was a fundamentally good government. Durick Veta agrees almost completely with the ideals of the Confederacy. As you know, we are being attacked by the invaders from Asia. They spread lies that their delegate to the USNA was randomnly killed: that is simply not true. We have found evidence, given to us by Karna Veta, that our delegate had been alerted by an intercepted email that the Asian invaders were teh ones who recently posioned the USNA water supply in an attempt to take over the USNA to attack the South and take over the continent. This may sound far-fetched, but we can provide you with the email. Our delegate decided to act immediately to root out spies instead of wait. We are not the agressors here: the Asians are.

OOC: They legitimately believe this, although this is false. Karna Veta falsified this and gave it to the government.

Communique
From: President Myers of the Union Americana
To: The August Congress of the Grand Confederacy

My colleagues and brothers to the South:

In the last few weeks, increased tensions among the nations of the American continent have grown exponentially. Now, we stand on the brink of war with foreign invaders and corrupt oppressors that try to destroy the remnants of the country that was once the envy and example alike to every nation of the world. And while the nations of the Grand Confederacy and those of the USNA have not always seen eye-to-eye, we have a common bond that separates us from those who stand ready to invade my country. We believe in the ideas of Jefferson and Madison; we hold true to the statement that we are given certain inalienable rights by our Creator; and most importantly, we are all Americans.

Despite our past or current differences, we are still brothers in this struggle to give freedom to all men. Whether we are liberal or conservative, Southerner or Yankee, it makes little difference in this time of great need. The fact is that your brothers, no matter how much you may fight or disagree, are still your family.

At the time of this communique, the Senate of Chepachet has passed legislation detailing the annexation of Minnesota and Iowa for their protection. While I hold reservations about these actions, I wish to discuss them in a formal and proper manner instead of taking my complaints to the world. This, along with other matters of grave importance, are issues that I would like to discuss with the leaders of your Grand Confederacy.

I ask this in good faith and the hope of continued peace between Americans on thise continent. I also know that despite the differences in outlook and politics, the Confederacy has always been a nation that fights with honor. It is with these hopes that I wish to meet with you, the leaders of this August body. Please let me know as soon as possible, as the situation we face now is quite urgent. I await your reply.

-President Jonathan Myers, Republic of the Union Americana

Meh, if Gassel signs up with Arius he'd find out about the Order. But other than that, he won't have a clue it exists.

"The government of Texarado is now a protestant democratic republic as requested by the South. However, as part of the deal of us joining the confederacy, we wish to be given official sovereignty of the GC military base in Northwestern Colorado. All confederate troops will of course be allowed to use it still, it will just be under Texaradon control. Is this acceptable?"

"The Marxist government of Texarado is known to tell lies; how can we be so sure you have become a democracy, and so quickly? We will have to wait until our tourists in Texas return home and report that the country is now a free Anglo-Saxon Christian republic. Also, I believe Fort Robert E. Lee (OOC: the oficial name of that base) must remain in the joint control of all the Southern nations together, and of course if Texarado joins the Grand Confederacy then Texarado will have a voice in the decision making and operations for the Fort."

Map Tsar and Southern Gentleman

Secretary of Defense Jackson Dunn of the Seceded South peered over the map with certain delight.

Mr. Hawkins I can assure you the my nation is more than willin to follah along this path. We have long since desired to finalize and complete what we considah the "Confederate puzzle." Howevah, like your govahment, we too hope to do this through peaceful means or to the very least covert means as to have no one point the fingahs back to us. It is my govahments idea that Texarado is the perfect point as which to begin to piece this puzzle back togethah. We have long since been looking into ways of destabilizing theah govahment and finding covert ways of introducing owah own puppet govahment to make them true southernahs again so that they can rejoin their confederate brothahs here. Suggestions my dear friends would be greatly appreciated on this mattah.
.......................................................................................

It seems gentlemen we have put ourselves into a pivotal point here in America and why shouldn't we be seen as such. Why I dare say America would not have been the power it was without us, the South. On issues of the North the Seceded South has always stated on the policy and watch and wait. We do not trust the North as we suspect the they don't trust us. We are also in constant belief that the USNA was constantly plotting to destroy us. However, though we are a nation which lives on the constant beliefs of what we've learned in the past, we are not a country who cannot see the future.

I agree with President Moore on the issue that our government is more willing to consider working with the Yankees than it is to work with an outside aggressor such as the Mexicans or the Asians. However, it is perfered by my government that the Congress stay our current course and simply be on an alert status.

I also agree with President Moore that Texarado, being a former communist state should be subject to a full investigation before open admittance. Once we can honeslty determine a change in the Texarado government, they will be welcomed here with open arms. As for the Fort Lee, I think it is in the best interest of this Congress that the base and the land it resides on stay in the Grand Confederacy's care. Of course this would mean as a member, Texarado would have an equal word in its care.

As for the information Durick Veta plea, I personally would love to see the evidence pitted against the Asians. Understand that I shall take everything I read with a grain of salt and also understand that anything I find in the reports, though they may change my personal views on the matter, will not change my vote to stay out of the matter for the time being.

To the Union Americana communication I personally see no problem with them sending a representative to speak to the Congress. We are an open forum here however I do ask that you respect and understand to whom you are speaking to and to choose your words carefully. Also understand that though I will actively listen to everything your representative has to say that does not mean anything he has to say is something I going to take into consideration. Make no mistake, though we've lived in peace on this continent that does not mean there is true peace between us.

Finally gentlemen I motion for a vote to mobilize the necessary troops to reinforce Chepachet and their defenses in Iowa and Minnesota. This is a vital first step in dealing with an agreed upon enemy of the South.

OOC: The Grand COnfederacy essentially bans Hispanic (mestizo) immigration but Brazilien Confederacy should make a good addition to the Grand Confederacy. Here's an interesting wikipedia article about real-life Southernors in Brazil.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederados
"The Confederados are a cultural sub-group in the nation of Brazil. They are the descendants of Confederate soldiers who fled to Brazil with their families after the American Civil War." (from Wikipedia)

IC:

After President Jesse Helms Jr. of the Seceded South finished his speech, President Nathanael Moore of Antebellum South got up to the podium to speak.

"I vote FOR deploying troops to assist Chepachet's operations in Iowa and Minnesota. Antebellum South will send the 115th Air Cavalry Division, one of our elite commando units with experience in guerilla warfare and anti-tribal operations. We will also send the 64th Engineers and Sappers Division, who will not only be able to participate in combat operations but also help in the construction and engineering of essential military infrastructure. In all , Antebellum South will send 125,000 men to reinforce Chepachet.

"Also, it has been brought to my attention that our long-lost brethren in Brazil have been located. These are descendents of Confederate soldiers who refused to submit to Northern occupation and bravely set sail for a new land, where they have prospered and preserved the traditions of the South. On behalf of Antebellum South, I invite President of the Brazilean Confederates, Fernando de Tomas Scott, to come visit our beloved homeland and the land of his forefathers. I voice my support of the Brazilean Confederates to join the Grand Confederacy."

"I appreciate and honor your tribe's contributions in the War of Northern Aggression. However, the laws of nature ordain that the Indian must live on a reservation and give up the rest of his lands for white settlers. I invite you to move to a reservation, and sign a peace treaty with the Grand Confederacy. We will also be happy to send an Indian Commissioner to oversee you and ensure that you are living orderly and civilized lives."
