Modernity has begun to penetrate the ancient kingdom of Bactria, with the recent effort of King Alexander to end the self-imposed diplomatic isolation of his tradition-bound nation. Foreign companies and foreign nations are entering the mountainous central Asian nation, bringing investments and integrating Bactria into the global market economy.

A Jordanian (Trilateral Commission) bank, HSBC, has concluded an economic treaty with Bactria, arranging the export of high quality Jordanian-made diesel trucks to the Bactrians at extremely low prices and building a 3,000 mile network of 4-lane paved asphalt roads around Bactria. This deal will greatly enhance the internal infrastructure of Bactria; in return HSBC will obtain 600,000 tons of Bactrian heroin.
