The Colonial Gazette Your best source for news in the colony Today, Grand Minister Alexius Comnenus announced Hispania Ulterior's budget for the coming yet. At the top of the list and to everyone's amazement is a plan to spend a large amount of the nation's money to develop Ethanol. With NeoRome one of the world's biggest supporters of Eco-Friendly technology it comes to no surprise that they've given the green light to begin the Ethanol research in the colony. Hispania Ulterior sits on a very productive sugarcane farming community. With it so plentiful in the colony, scientist feel that it's the perfect place to begin research. Experts hope that within a years time they will have a keep, efficient, and timeless process for producing Ethanol. The Imperial Senate of NeoRome hopes that once the production kicks off that they'll be able to offer the Ethanol to the world market. The Ethanol production plant will also mean a new revenue of jobs for the colonists and natives of the area. Colonist through Hispania Ulterior are happy and eager to begin work. |

Cnn: Colonial News Network Good evening and thank you for joining us, I'm Julissa Miro and here are our top stories. News of revolution in the mother land have swept the nation as many citizen of Hispania Ulterior wonder what exactly it means for them. It's no secret that for sometime now the colonists have been kept in the dark with issues in the mother land and for the most part have been left to defend themselves. News of the Russian Renaissance sparked a Renaissance here in the colony as well, with many natural citizens of the area taking the family names of their Peruvian ancestry. However, with news of a new government and leadership in the homeland, we sat down with Grand Minister Alexius Comnenus, now legally known as Grand Minister Claudia Hernández to find out what these changes meant for us. (Camera switches to prerecorded interview) Grand Minister Hernández thank you for sitting down with us today. It's my pleasure Mrs. Miro. As you of all people know Grand Minister, a revolution has rocked our former motherland of NeoRome. Now, under the leadership of self-appointed Premier Pro Tempore Nicholas Kozintsev, the nation is being reformed in what will soon be formally known as TheRussianFederation. So what, Grand Minister does that mean for us, and how does the government here feel about the leadership change? Well, first off Mrs. Miro let me say that I speak for the entire colonial government when I say that we could not be happier with the regime change. It's no secret that under the Augustus leadership, NeoRome's commitment to her colonies has always been almost nonexistence. We were practically being starve economically and politically from NeoRome. So when news of a successful revolution made it's way to us, we were thrilled. Now as for the change and how it will effect us I will have to say that it will effect us a great deal and in a positive light. How So Grand Minister? Well, as I said before the old regime of NeoRome was starving us both economically and politically. All our trade agreements, imports and exports came solely from NeoRome and because of that, they came rarely at best. With the dissolution of the Imperial Senate, the colony effectively lost it's voice in the NeoRoman political stage. Now however, this new Federation is offering us a better and more powerful democratic body for which we'll have an ear to speak to. I myself have already gotten the chance to speak to Premier Pro Tempore Kozintsev briefly, several times now. He assures me that under his watchful eye the colony will not go forgotten as it has in the past. He is looking forward to personally visiting the colony once matters of state in Russia are dealt with. He has promised to both myself and the people of Hispania Ulterior that new reforms will come to the colony that will further benefit the people directly. Moving on with this notion of new reforms, can you Grand Minister speak on these rumors that have been going around about a new Communist based government here in Hispania Ulterior? Why certainly, I can say here and now that most of the rumors are true. The Colonial Senate and much of the politicians here in Hispania Ulterior have been looking at Communist models and now with reforms coming from Russia we have been leaning towards this direction. Now I can assure the people here and now that we will still operate under a multiparty system and that most of the reforms will been more generally Socialist reforms than extreme Communist. We are in no way looking to make this colony into a Totalitarian State. However, like our motherland we are trying to limit the gap between the rich and the poor and we feel a communist based government will help us achieve that. Will we eliminate private enterprise? Of course not, many of the companies that thrive in our area are of course privately owned and account for much of the wealth which the nation has thrived off of. What it does mean however, is that certain major industries like electric, gas, water and other essential items will be place under government control so as to make them more affordable. Well, Grand Minister it seem we've run out of time, however thank you again for spending this time with us and helping us the people of Hispania Ulterior understand what's ahead of us in the future. It was my pleasure Mrs. Miro (Camera switches back to Julissa Miro behind the news desk) Though she could not give us a specific date, Grand Minister Hernández did state that Premier Pro Tempore Kozintsev did say he hoped to be able to travel here to Hispania Ulterior within the next three months. Now stay tuned for our weather report here on Cnn: Colonial News Network |

The Colonial Gazette Your best source for news in the colony Premier Kozintsev arrives in Colony. Yesterday Premier Nicholas Kozintsev arrived in the capital and began his two week visit to the colony. Grand Minister Claudia Hernández along with other colonial officials were on hand to great the Premier and his delegation when they arrived. At a brief press conference at the airport the Premier stated that he was here to do a great deal of business in the Colony. For too long the old regime left them without a central voice to hear and guide them. Now that he was in power, he promised to correct these errors and bring the colony to the international stage. Today, the Premier meet with the colonial Senate to discuss it and the rest of the colonial governments restructure. Top of the Premier's agenda for the colony is the elections for representatives to be sent to back to Russia to represent the colony in both the State Duma and Federation Council of the Federal Assembly. "These two positions" stated Premier Kozintsev "a critical to ensuring that the colony's voice is heard back home in Russia." The Premier also instituted a new little to Grand Minister Hernández, stating that First Chancellor Hernández was a much more appropriate title for leader of the Russian colony. Primmer Kozintsev also put in place time frames and deadlines for when the colonial Senate must have a constitution drafted. Finally on his large "To Do" list, Premier Kozintsev talked with officials on Ethanol production. Since it's beginning stages, Ethanol production in the colony has grown into a reliable and stable production process. Premier Kozintsev hopes that within the next few months the Federation can begin sales of the alternative fuel source to the world, increasing the Federation's drive to a cleaner and healthier tomorrow. Tomorrow Premier Kozintsev is expected to begin his tour of the colony, visiting some of the most talked about locations. He will also make stops and many of the nation's factories, talking with the average working to make sure that he or she believes their government is working for them. Although at this point is highly a mere rumor, there have been talks that Premier Kozintsev will be holding a state dinner to introduce himself and the colony to the rest of the more socialist countries of South America however, at this point, this is still just a rumor.. |

The Colonial Gazette Your best source for news in the colony Elections over, Socialist beat out Communists! Following the elections in the mother land, colonist of Hispania Ulterior returned to the polls to vote on the leadership of the Federal Republic. It was a tight race between First Chancellor Claudia Hernández's Federal Communist Party and the Republican Socialist Party, a branch of the National Socialist Party of Russia which is the same party that saw a defeat of former Premier Nicholas Kozintsev. Many critics of the Socialist Party called their presence in the Federal Republic's race a second attempt for the former Premier to retain power however the party was quick to distinguish itself from the larger party of Russia. "We are a party for the socialist of Hispania Ulterior, not socialist of Russia" said Party leader Alicia Alonso. "I would like to put the Hispanians minds to rest when I say if elected we will work for the advancement of the Federal Republic, and though we will certainly look to fulfill our duties to the mother land, our highest priority will be the well being of the people here in Hispania Ulteriror." Rallies were held by both sides and though few had much to criticize about when it came to the Hernández administration and Communist Party rule, analysts during the entire campaign and voting season continued to count this as a close race. So close that many refused to give out prediction, stating that it was in all seriousness and 50-50 race, anyone could win. When results were finally announcement, a general mixture of relief and surprise was felt as the Socialist Party was declared the winner. In a party held to honor to party for their achievement, party members again thanked voters and the populace for their support. The part also restated their commitment to the people and the needs of the people. The party is expected to take full office by the end of the month and have announced their intent to appoint party member Hector Herrera as First Chancellor. |
