The Emperor, his family and many paradisian ministers will attend the funeral. We would also like to express our condolences to Hashim's family and to all Al Araam population. During the Baghdad meeting, the Emperor developped a strong friendship with Kaliq Hashim and was really saddened by this tragical death. |

Strangely, a man named Augustine Jordanus will be attending from Norightsia. He has no official rank in the Empire, and is not apparently affiliated with the government at all. But he wishes to attend anyway, and has plans he wished to discuss with the assembled rulers of the Middle East. |

No representative of mine shall attend this 'funeral', as an official snub of a nation which consistently votes against securing peace in this region, voting instead in favour of heightening tensions and fears. Pope Emmanuel III |

The ruler of Nag Ehgoeg, Elected Regent Andreas Malfisto Emmanulas, will be making a rare public appearence at the funeral as a sign of good will towards Al Araam in these polically turbulent times. The Regent hardly ever leaves the Government Administration Block of Nag Ehgoeg, let alone the country and while we're hardly concieted enough to say that Al Araam should be honoured, the unpresidented rarity of this even should be noted. **** OOC: Uh... you can try to assassinate Andreas so long as you don't suceed. Wounding him is fine, even a wound that would normally be incurable so long as it isn't immediately fatal. |

OOC: Better late than never, right? IC: It was a closed casket ceremony, as Kaliq Hashim's body had been terribly burned and mangled in the plane crash and the resulting fire. An unmistakable air of melancholy hung over the vast South Garden as darkness began to itself show across the sky. The coffin of Al Araam’s deceased ruler sat upon a great white marble pedestal in front of a long shallow reflecting pool. With the speeches finished, anyone who wished could approach the ornate casket to pay their last respects to the late ruler. Iqbal Amin was the first to approach, followed closely by Yaqub Mukhtar. They kneeled before the coffin, knowing that Hashim had been a exemplary Muslim and would surely be admitted to Paradise. After several minutes, Yaqub turned away, wiping a few stray tears from his cheeks and strode into the great dining room of the White Palace. He took his seat at the head of the table and awaited the rest of his guests. |

Jordanus didn't know exactly what was expected of him. The largely Muslim crowd tried to ostracize him, but he would not join the other non-Muslims who were chatting on the far side of the garden. He spoke only with the Muslims and refused to be ignored, hard to ignore as he was. Jordanus was six and a half feet tall, and built like a statue, with chiseled features and curly brown locks. What the guests didn't know at the time was that Jordanus was an average Norightsian, a product of selective breeding forced by the government and its Inquisition. He milled around with the crowd until he was able to spot the Paradisian Emperor. He strode over and, like a world leader, bowed and shook hand of the arguably most powerful man on earth. He looked the MiddleEasterner in the eyes like an equal would, but in a way that conveyed respect. He spoke calm and clearly, using Arabic and laboriously enunciating every syllable. "My greetings, noble Emperor. I am Augustine Jordanus. I know you have never heard of me, but I assure you that the time will come when you consider me your most valuable ally. As for know, I only seek your aquaintance, and that you remember me. Perhaps we shall speak again at this gathering, if our hosts are entertaining to a proposition I have. Farewell. " He then left without giving the Paradisian Emperor a chance to reply. He did the same for the Wadji envoy and Ammochostiot President, as well as the Remaining members of the Triumvirate. He then made his way to the Dawnsian Emperor. "I trust you recieved my message. Do you think that they will listen?" |

Tom Grace sat patiently through the funeral. After the funeral ended, he silently walked over to the casket, and stared down at it for a while. He didn't particularly know Kaliq Hashim, but it was sad for him nonetheless. Having someone die was always a sad occasion. After a few moments, he walked over to the table in the dining room and sat down. |

Ahmed Harshisha, the Wadji representative at the funeral of Kaliq Hashim, looked into the casket. Al Araam was a solid ally, and to lose one of their leaders was a sad occasion. He milled around the room talking to various dignitaries, and then sat down at the banquet table. |

The Regent attended the service as a courtesy, remaining emotionless and inpassive throughout the service, but watching everything with great interest and a keen eye not dimed by old age. When the service was over, he took his time to make his way to the coffin - where he muttered something that could have been a final blessing. His breathing, despite being assisted by the compact oxygen tank on his hip, seemed laboured as he watched the unknown from Norightsia address the Paradisian Emperor then walk off. It seemed that the Emperor's allies had a nasty habit of dying. Still, one can only hope... The Regent makes his way to the dining room. |

After the funeral ended, the Foreign Minister of Baltuvia Hussein Abdullah, went to the dining room. To the retired Navy Captain most guest looked like staring at each other and waiting for reactions of their counterparts. Most ambassadors or emissaries joined little groups of either Bagdhad Pact or International Freedom Pact. The CNNP Vice President spoke to Hussein. Both knew each other due to the close alliance between the CNNP and Baltuvia. More such encounters happend around them. The overall atmosphere was depressed. It seemed that something large was about to come... |

When all of the delegates were seated, Iqbal Amin rang a small bell sitting near his right hand. The waiters began to stream out of the large kitchen in the next room. They set steaming platters of traditional Araamenian food all along the long table. Amin took in the smell of the well spiced lamb that had been set before him and smiled. * * * A mere seven miles away, a middle aged man sat in his generously sized State Department office. He picked up the phone that sat on top of a pile of thick situation briefs on his desk and dialed a phone number he had scrawled across the corner of one of the briefs. The phone rang twice before it was picked up and deep voiced young man answered. "Yes?" "It is time, my brother. It is time to wrest the reigns of our great nation from those stodgy old cods and lead Al Araam towards it's future. The will of Allah has been revealed. We have but to obey." "It will be done, Inshallah." With that, he hung up the phone, a smile spreading slowly across his face. * * * The waiter had been killed cleanly, his neck snapped quickly from behind. Rasul had quickly put on the white uniform and slipped into the kitchen unnoticed. There were pitchers of ice water lined up neatly along the counter. Rasul grabbed one of the line of pitchers in his left hand, and moved carefully through the swinging door into the banquet hall. As he approached the the remaining two members of the Triumvirate, he slid his right hand into the pocket of his uniform, feeling the grip of his twenty two caliber pistol slide comfortably into it. As he closed to two feet, he lifted the pistol inside of his pocket, aiming it at the back of Amin's head. He squeezed the trigger three times. All three bullets entered the back of the ruler's head and exited through his forehead, taking a fair bit of grey matter with them. Yaqub Mukhtar attempted to whip his hear towards the three quick reports, but before he saw the assailant, his head was thrown sideways by a bullet impacting his left temple. It was quickly followed by two more. As the two leaders slumped and fell out of their chairs, the assassin slid the gun across the floor and prostrated himself on the floor just as the first of the palace guard rushed into the banquet hall. He was quickly cuffed and dragged roughly out of the room. The delegates stared wide eyed as the scene unfolded before them. Each knew that they had witnessed a significant even in Araamenian history. The forty-four year reign of the triumvirate had come crashing down around their ears in a single week. As the news broke across Al Araam, the Araamenian people waited to see who would step up and fill the power vacuum. |

The Regent of Nag Ehgoeg was unperturbed by the assassination. Perhaps it was because the triumvirate where not exactly friendly to Nag Ehgoeg. Perhaps it was because the Regent was an old man, and having lived a full life the threat of an assassin meant nothing to him. Perhaps it was because he expected as much outside of his Nagian home. He pulls out a cell phone to inform his government about recent events, and makes his unhurried way back to his transport home. |

Ahmed Harshisha was appalled. Though he had been extremely paranoid ever since the incident in Scythirus, a state funeral was the last place he expected to see an assassination. "Ek Ong Kar," he muttered under his breath. We are all one, created by the One Creator of all Creation. "Sat Nam." The Name of God is Truth. He began to hyperventilate. "Ek Ong Kar... Sat Nam..." He felt a blinding pain in his chest, and then collapsed on the ground. OOC: Extra credit for the first person who can tell me which religion Ahmed Harshisha is part of. It should be pretty easy. |

SECURE TRANSMISSION TO: All Baghdad Pact Members FROM: Emperor Constantine While we are in a time of tragedy, I am afraid that I have a most important matter to discuss. At the funeral, I spoke with a man named Augustine Jordanus, of Norightsia. Perhaps some of you also met him. This man is quite important to use right now. Jordanus has an offer for us, which we must carefully consider. You see, he is currently planning a coup against His Most Catholic Majesty, Galerius Quintillianus. If we back him, covertly of course, he's willing to devote the country to our causes. Now, Norightsia is one of Asia's major powers, and one of the Pope's most active allies. Securing them would be a great victory. I should let you know that I have reason to believe that Jordanus used his contacts to help secure Ammochostiot supremacy in the Asian Regional UN. So he's got leverage and he's willing to use it for our sake. However, there are naturally going to be cons to this scheme. We've got our hands tied in Palestine, and the Pope's certainly gonna' back GQ if it comes to Civil War. But this needs to be considered carefully. |
