Generally speaking, the geography of the NS world follows that of real life. However, particulary for older nations, the geography of your nation's real life location really does not fit with the geography you've earned in game.

Thus, while keeping political maps unchanged, I suggest we create a geographical map of our world.

Ah but how to do this?

Well I've been playing Civilisation 2 a lot... why not use a map editor from a computer game? In fact, why not use Civ 2's editor (seeing as Civ 2 is free to download).

Civ even would have a fair way of changing your geography from that of real life - as the game allows you to shape the terrain using two units - the Engineer and the Settler.

Thus I suggest that every nation wishing to take part in this quasi-offical map project should aquire Civ 2 and familirise themselves with the Engineer unit and the map editor (and/or the cheat mode).

Then I suggest making one engineering change, or two settler changes, to the geography of the land where your nation lies for every 250 million people you have in your nations population (not counting mirror nations).

The result could then be posted in this thread, and a picture of the globe could be put together.

Nag Ehgoeg would look something like this:

NB: This is not an "offical" project, though if the other mods support it then it might well become an offical map. Also Civ 2 was choosen purely because it's free, has been linked to in these forums and I was playing it at the time.

Also note that I've "cheated" on the above map. I'm fairly sure I've edited too many squares and I've definately added features that engineers can't add.

Finally the Civ 2 world map (as used above) really doesn't give a good view of the middle east. A map would have to be made almost from scratch or downloaded.

Hmmmm....

I just want to keep my nation's geography the same as it is in real life, though. But if other people want to do this, I guess it's a good idea. If you want to find out what your nation's geography is in real life, I suggest www.nationalgeographic.com. It has a really good map department.

Actually, I'm going to just take a screen shot off of Google Earth for all the important places, then one large overhead overall.
