Syawla, divided for years but forcibly united, has today erupted in violence after ethnic tensions in the nation reached boiling point. This follows a declaration of war on the government by Catholics concentrated in the south of the country. At the same time, these Catholics have allied with Limpopo separatist groups and have declared the commencement of an armed struggle against the government of President Aloisi.
It is unclear the extent of Papal or South African influence in these events. At the same time, the government of Aloisi has declared martial law in the lands that it does still control, centred around the capital. Protestant vigilantes however, march the streets in many northern towns, holding show trials of catholics suspected, or not, of collusion with the enemies of the government, and as a result many Catholics have been lynched while others have been forced to flee.
It is unknown the extent to which the violence will spread, however one thing is certain, things will only get worse, before they get better.

This is Daisy Chaine of African Network News, Ivoj Nob.

OOC: That's it then folks. Can I make one request? The area be kept free and named Syawla as it's a bit harsh for em to just disappear, considering I have had quite a huge input into the region. Just have it as Syawla but in civil war. Thanks.

OOC: Ok.

IC:

The Soth African Government has announced it will recognize His Most Catholic Majesty Jean II as the sole legitimate ruler of all Syawla. The Court has also annoucned that to "ensure the rights of Catholics," the Holy Inquisition has been authorized by the South African government to enter Syawla and reinforce existing ministries and spread Catholic religion. Several paramilitary units attached to the Holy Inquisition have been spotted within Syawlan borders, and it is alleged that non-Catholics are being abused and forced to convert by these South African expeditions. More updates to come.

It is a good thing that such a vile regime is being challenged by its downtrodden people. It is only a shame that so many must die...
