Scene: Broad Street, Baotou, overlooking the Rotary of the Republic Stephanie Chu walked down the street, towards the world-famous Rotary of the Republic. A great mass of people had already gathered. This would be the first appearance of government leaders since the plague began. Or so they said. Stephanie felt that something was suspicious about President Grace's giving her two weeks of paid vacation in Good Cartesia, even though she did encourage good relations between the two countries while she was there. At the Rotary, setup crews were assembling chairs and a podium in front of the statue of Bayanmong Khan, Father of the Republic. Secretary of Education Peter Wong then found her. Peter (whispering): Well, did you hear the news? Stephanie: What news? Peter (sighs): You mean you haven't heard yet? The government... Scene: Dungeons below the Presidential Palace Tom Grace, Robert Gold, and Gerald Uhaa sat in three seperate prison cells. Although they could see each other, they had not communicated in nearly two weeks, under threat of instant death. For two weeks, they had been starved, given only the smallest amounts of food and water. Now a guard came down. He moved over to Tom Grace's cell. "The Supreme Leader wishes your presence," he said. When he got up to the Heptagonal Office, which was formerly his own, Supreme Leader Quentin Fahr was sitting in his chair, looking out over Broad Street. Quentin: It is almost time for our appearance. Tom: Our appearance:? Quentin: Yes. You will accompany me to the Rotary of the Republic in a few minutes. You will announce the creation of the Communist Republic of Negative Matter, and the installation of myself as Supreme Leader. Tom: What if I refuse? Quentin pulls out his pistol. "Then you, and your friends down in the dungeon will die." Tom swallowed hard. "Fine." The guard led him out of the room. Quentin sat down and began his signature evil laugh. To be continued... |

Scene: Broad Street, Baotou, overlooking the Rotary of the Republic Peter Wong: ...so that's what happened. Stephanie Chu: That's terrible! What should we do? Peter is about to answer, when the crowd suddenly goes silent. Tom Grace and Quentin Fahr ascend the steps to the makeshift stage. Robert Gold and Gerald Uhaa run over to Peter and Stephanie. Tom Grace gets ready to speak. Tom Grace: Today I come to you with news. It has been decided that the leader of my guard, Mr. Quentin Fahr, will be Supreme Leader of Negative Matter. Thank you. Both the terseness and the content of his brief speech left the crowd speechless. Tom left the stage and went over to the others. While Quentin Fahr took over the stage and began a long speech about why he should be leader and why Negative Matter needs him, they began walking down the street. Stephanie: Again, what should we do? Tom, how could you do this? Tom: It was either that or our lives. Gerald Uhaa: I don't trust him. I think we should get rid of him. But how? Tom: I doubt the Negative Matterian people will like him.... Behind them, cheers rang out in the middle of Supreme Leader Fahr's speech. Robert Gold: I guess you're wrong. |

It is always good when a leader is able to choose who his successor will be. Too often are Empires destroyed because weak leaders come to power. But I have faith in Rev. Grace, and anyone he chooses as his successor must be worthy. I welcome Mr. Fahr to the world stage, and may God be with him. --Emperor Galerius I Quintilianus OOC: Although GQ is focusing mainly on the war, he does suspect some foul play in Negative Matter. If ole' Tom can get in contact with GQ, he can get help quick, and without selling his soul to the devil( :P  ). Of course, if Quentin contacts him first... |

OOC: Hmmm...I might. I'll PM you if I decide to do anything with GQ. IC: Scene: Newton Pub, Baotou Stephanie Chu, Dan Lee, and James Hudson sit at a table, drinking the Negative Matterian specialty "Green Gold." Stephanie calls the waitress, Evelyn Lim, over. Evelyn: What can I do for you? Stephanie: Could you please come to the restroom with me? They go into the restroom. Stephanie: What do you think of Quentin Fahr? Evelyn: Who? Stephanie (sighing): You know, the guy who's the Supreme Leader of the country now? Evelyn: Never heard of him. Stephanie: Well, he's a monster. Do you want to help me with something? Evelyn: Sure, what? Stephanie: Well, it's kind of a secret, but we need someone with connections. Do you remember receiving an offer to be a secretary? Evelyn: Yes, I do. I've been wanting to get out of this bar for years. Stephanie: Take the offer. You'll be working for Mr. Fahr. We want you to report to us about anything he might be planning, okay? Evelyn: Well, okay. What will I get for doing this? Stephanie: We'll talk about that later. They exit the restroom and go back to the table. To be continued.... |

Continued from previous post: Stephanie: Evely, these are Dan and James. Dan and James, this is Evelyn. Evelyn: Pleased to meet you all. Dan: So you're going to be Quentin Fahr's new secretary? Evelyn: I guess. James: You're on our side, right? Evelyn: I'm confused. James: He's freakishly evil. You're better off with us. Evelyn: And you know this how? James: We just do. Dan: If he isn't stopped, he'll probably turn Negative Matter into a police state. Evelyn (leaving): That's nice. Um, I think I'd better get going now. Stephanie: You scared her away.... James: Oh well. They finish their food. As they are leaving, Tom Grace bursts in. Tom: I've been looking all over for you! Our worst nightmares have started. |

Hi!

Scene: Inside the Presidential Palace Tom Grace sat at his desk working diligenty on a set of memos that had to be ready for tomorrow. Still technically President, he was responsible for making sure everyone followed his orders. Well, not his orders exactly, more like Supreme Leader Fahr's orders; he was just the messenger. He shivered. The harsh Negative Matterian winter was setting in full blast. Any more of this and I'll be frozen solid, he thought. Behind him stood new secretary Evelyn Lim, who was furiously trying to adjust the heater, which seemed to be permanently stuck in the "off" position. Everyone else had gone home for the day. Well, if you could consider the former-office-now-dormitory in the next room "home." That was all thanks to Supreme Edict 22G, which required all government employees to reside within the Palace compound. He heard footsteps outside the office. Soon, shadows appeared in the doorway. Guard: You're coming with us. Both of you. They instantly stopped their work and followed the guards. They knew better than to try to resist; they didn't want to end up like Robert Gold, who lay comatose in St. John's General Hospital across the street. It was blamed on street gangs, but the two knew better. The guards led them to the Office of the Supreme Leader, which had recently been moved to a larger room in the north wing. They sat down in front of Supreme Leader Fahr's desk/throne. He towered over them by about 5 feet. It was not a comfortable feeling to be sitting there. At least the heaters in this part of the building were working. Quentin: Ms. Lim, would you please get me a cup of tea? Evelyn: Yes sir. (She exits.) Quentin: As for you... Tom: What do you want with me? Quentin: Quiet! You are way too popular. Even with all the stuff I put in the newspapers (courtesy of Supreme Edict 9B). Tom: So? It's not my fault the people like me. Quentin: Quiet! He presses a button on his chair/throne. A trap door opens underneath Tom's chair, and Tom falls 3 stories into a dungeon cell below. Evelyn returns with his cup of tea, and, not seeing the hole in the floor, falls in as well. Quentin: Oh, (insert synonym for "poop")... Later Evelyn wakes up from her slumber. She feels a sharp pain in her ankle. Tom Grace is already awake. Evelyn: What happened? Tom: You fell down a hole when you went to give him his tea. Evelyn: How did the hole get there. I didn't see it when we first walked in.... Tom: He pushed a little button, and a hole appeared. Evelyn: Isn't he going to rescue us? Tom: I don't see why. He hates me, and you're expendible. He's probably hired someone else to take your place by now. Evelyn: Is he really that bad? I heard he was freakishly evil, but I couldn't believe that. Tom: That's just scratching the surface. Evelyn: What should we do? Tom: I don't know. Evelyn pull sout her cell phone. It was heavily chipped and cracked, but still functional. She first tried calling Robert Gold, to no avail. She then decided to call Stephanie Chu. Stephanie: Do you know what time it is? Evelyn: No, what's the time? Stephanie: It's one in the morning. Evelyn: Sorry to wake you. But we have a serious problem here. Stephanie: What? Evelyn: Tom and I fell down a hole in Quentin's office, and now we're stuck in a dungeon cell. Can you help us? Stephanie: I'm not surprised. Don't worry; I'm almost done with my plan. Evelyn: What plan? Stephanie: You'll see. |

The sun had not yet risen. Inside the Presidential Palace, all was quiet. The inhabitants could not afford to make any noises. But it was now or never. The conditions were just right for a new beginning. In the "dorm room" where the counter-revolutionaries met, a fierce discussion was taking place, not by talking, but by passing notes. Meanwhile, Stephanie Chu was finishing a telegram to be delivered to all the leaders of Asia. Private Telegram Encryption Code: TVXYZBRGOIWFELNUACDHJKMPQS To: All leaders in Asia From: Stephanie Chu Do not be fooled by Quentin Fahr. There was no peaceful handover of power. He came to power through forceful and illegal means. He forced us to do this. We are going to attempt to take back the government tomorrow night. If you want to see democratic governance in Negative Matter ever again, respond ASAP. But don't send it back to me, send it to Dan Lee or James Hudson. -Stephanie After she had finished making all her copies, she opened the window. She waited for Dan and James to come to the window, and gave the letters to them. (As members of the opposition, they did not have the same sort of security restrictions.) She went back to the others. Cynthia Min was finishing the plans. They would first get the guards who guarded the door out of there. With Evelyn Lim in the dungeon, that would be a problem. But Quentin Fahr often called his guards over for a nightly meeting, so that would be their chance. After that, they would break out of their room. Soldiers loyal to their cause would be waiting outside the doors of the palace, and they would beckon them to come in. If everything went right, it would be over in a few hours. If not...they didn't want to think about that. The plans were done, and now all that was left to do was wait. |

As luck would have it (depending on your definition of the word) a letter just happen to make it all the way to the frozen north with was the Eastern Empire. Shing read the letter with some interest and decided that even though democracy was a dying form of government, he'd entertain the idea if it provide something for him. He wrote a response and had it transmitted back... Encrypted Transmission To:Dan Lee From" Shing Tishomi I am greatly sadden to hear of this news and as a fighter for peace I am more than willing to help in any way I can. I understand if you wish to have a peaceful resolve to this situation however do note that the Eastern Empire is more than capable of deploying enough man power to have the nation secured for you by the end of the coming week. I will await for your response. End of Encrpyted Transmission |

Private Telegram From: Dan Lee To: Galerius Quintilianus Why do you threaten me? We're on the same side, you know. I myself am not going to respond to Tishomi, but you can't stop anyone else from doing so. Anyway, I personally believe that this fight against the Fahr regime will be long and bloody, and we will appreciate any help we can get. Private Telegram From: James Hudson To: Shing Tishomi Your response intrigues me. Frankly, at this point in time, I do not think a peaceful solution will be possible, since even if we do nothing, Fahr will come after us eventually. He is a well-known expansionist, and I would not be surprised if he is making plans to invade the Eastern Empire right now. But anyway, we would like to hear your plans. |

Encrypted Transmission To: James Hudson From: Shing Tishomi I am pleased to see that someone within Negative Matter is willing to take help from a nation which can offer your country a lot. Truly we can offer you a great military force, one in which I have no doubt will win against any military this Quentin Fahr has assemble. We will have no problem publicly denouncing the validity of his sovereignty of your nation and can begin movements against him immediately. To be frank I'll be putting some Dynastian forces at our border at once and all I'll need from you is the "green light" to push forward. I will await for decision. End of Encrpyted Transmission |

OOC: Norightsia, what will you do if James Hudson gives Shing Tishomi the green light? Norightsia was suspicious of Quentin Fahr all along, and wanted to get in contact and help the revolution, as you can see in my earliest post here. GQ has many more wars to fight, and doesn't like Quentin, so they won't side with him, although doubtless Shing would. But anyone who signs up with the EE is violating the AU Charter, so GQ will petition to have you kicked out once Scythirus comes back. Which may be forever, unfortunately.... |

The EE is at war (technically) with AA. They lost, but I didn't see a treaty. Besides, even when they do set it up as a result of this post, one could argue that while AU law is not violated, that it can be construed as reckless endangerment of the AU peace to accept help from a warmonger and avowed enemy of the AU. And even if that evidence is not sufficient, everyone in the Au would probably frown upon it. Which reminds me, what did Scythirus say about a temporary mod of the AU while he remain gone? The inactivity is killing me. |
