SBC: Sarawakhan Broadcasting Company

Hello, I'm Alistair Derbyshire, and this is the SBC. In our top story tonight, the monarchy, which has been left vacant since Raja Reginald Brooke died of the plague, will be filled once more. James Brooke, a nephew of the late Raja, shall be crowned Raja james Brooke II by the Archbishop of Kuching this Saturday. The soon-to-be Raja made a speech earlier today:

(Cut to James Brooke sitting in a large armchair in front of a fire)

"I know that the plague has ravaged our nation, and its protectorate Armenon. It has taken from us a wise and just ruler, my Uncle Reginald Brooke. But I know that we can recover. As Raja, I intend to make changes. I will extend the vote to all citizens over the age of 18. Landowning shall no longer be a requirement for suffrage. I shall also work to eliminate racism in our nation. All men are officially equal under the law. I intend to make this a reality."

(Cut back to the SBC studio)

Some conservative Ministers of Parliament have spoken against these policies, but most have shown an optimistic willingness to work with the new Raja to make Sarawakh better. In other news, Emperor Johann II of Saxe-Coburg is searching for a bride...

Raja Reginald Brooke died of the plague

OOC: :(

IC: I have lost a good friend in Raja Reginald Brooke. I pray that his nephew becomes as capable a ruler as he was, and that relations remain brotherly between our nations. As a sign of my good will, I humbly request to attend the coronation of the esteemed James Brooke. The Plague isnow dead, and trade is back up between Bangkok and Singapore (the most profitable city-city trade in all of Asia), but trade is a fragile thing, so I hope that the late Raja Brooke did not die in vain.

Kuching, Sarawakh

A huge crowd had gathered to see the new Raja's coronation. Usually only the white elite cared who was in charge. The nativew were treated the same under all the Rajas. But this one was different. He had promised universal suffrage for all those 18 and up. The people would finally have a voice. Foreign dignitaries from across Asia had come to see the new Raja's coronation.

The Cathedral of Kuching was silent. Thousands of guests sat in their pews expectantly. James Brooke sat in an ornate chair, wearing his robes of state. The Archbishop of Kuching approached carrying a glittering golden crown. He placed it on James' head, and began to speak.

"I now proclaim you James Brooke II, Raja of Sarawakh."

The crowd erupted into wild cheering, and Raja James Brooke II walked slowly along the aisle and out into the cheering crowd that stood in front of the Cathedral. He got into his limousine, and they proceeded to the Palace for a reception and the coronation ball.

OOC: Every nation in Asia can send a representative, or their leader, to the reception. You can RP your entrances now. If you attend the ball, assume that you were at the coronation.

((Lets just assume I was there. lol, Im too lazy to RP otherwise.))

Emperor Jodo clapped loudly at the coronation. He was saddened at the loss, but felt that the new Raja was going to be a just ruler. As James Brooke II pass, Jodo gave a little bow in respect.

Later that evening at the Ball, Emperor Jodo and his daughter Samantha were casually talking to some of the others there. Seeing the Raja, Jodo approached and held out his hand.

"My sincerest regrets about your Uncle. He was a good man... As always we are here to assist in anything you need under your rule. We hope that under your rule, Raja, that your nation will continue to have peace. Also, I commend you on your efforts towards equal rights for all. Your citizens seem very pleased as well."

The Emperor didn't enjoy being in a Protestant Church, but he owed to his late friend Raja Brooke to extend the courtesy. The Ceremony was over quickly, and the new Raja was soon proceeding majestically down the aisle. The Emperor(and thus his whole entourage, which included the refugee Princess Atalanta as well as Governor VonEpstein) stood and clapped politely, as morality compelled him to. As the new Ruler walked past, the Emperor inclined his hed ever so slightly, but the Raja caught the gesture and returned it. The Emperor smiled wryly, even as most of the congregation turned to watch the Raja go. Perhaps his doubts were unfounded...

The Imperial Party arrived at the Ball in a motorcade of convertible Jaguars, all black with Green Norightsian Flags waving. The Emperor was resplended in full military dress along with his many medals. The Princess wore a flowing silk gown and the Governor an expensive Italian suit. The ministers were likewise attired. Even the Praetorian Guards accompanying the Emperor wore dress uniform, albeit with bulletproof vests underneath. As soon as he had greeted his host, the Emperor fell into the swing of the party...

Raja James Brooke II smiled at Emperor Jodo.

"Thank you my good man. So good of you to come! Yes, though my uncle was a great leader, Sarawakh still needs improvement. I intend to bring more rights to the common people, they are the base upon which our nation is built. Ah, let me introduce you to Mr. Gladstone, possibly a future Prime Minister. Keep your eye on him, Jodo. He'll do great things."

James walked over to the Norightsian Emperor.

"Galerius! Welcome! My uncle told me many things about you. Norightsia and Sarawakh have been firm allies for quite a while. I intend to keep it that way. Oh, and by the way, thank you for attending the coronation even though you are a Catholic. I don't suppose that a Episcopal church was the most comfortable setting for you. Now, let us discuss trade..."

The Emperor grinned.

"But of course! Nothing so grand, eh!?"

His mood seemed to lighten the Raja's a bit.

"Nothing I know of!"

After a good chuckle, they got down to business.

"Now you know, Norightsia has been..."closed" for some time because of the plague. Now that it is over, I intend to fully reopen trade along the IHC between our nations."

"Good, good of course."

"I trust you have recieved the classified BiWeReF documents?'

"What?"

"I guess not. A little project your uncle and I had together. Weapons research. "

"Oh?"

"Indeed. Have your heard of 'Norightsian Hell'"?

"No."

"It's a slang term for a bomb developed there. An F-Bomb."

"F? Fluorine?"

"No. Francium."

"The Alkali?'

"Yes. You do know of the Alkali Effect, don't you?"

"Yes, yes. Bu how could you find enough Francium to..."

"Synthesization. We managed to make Francium out of Cessium."

"Interesting. Why bring it up?"

"I was just wondering if you'd be intersted..."

"A Francium Bomb?" The Raja sounded intrigued, "well, I'm not exactly a fan of nuclear weapons, terrible things, what? But they are a useful defensive measure. What with the unrest in Armenon, terrible business, don't you know. I've heard that the Thuggee have started their nasty little cult up again. But I digress. What with the unrest in Armenon, Sarawakh needs all the defences it can get. Besides, you only pay for a bomb once, while you need to pay a soldier until he dies."

Galerius smiled, "how true."

James chuckled and continued, "Keep me posted about this F-Bomb. I'll see if I can get Parliament to cough up a few Rupees, and I'll send over some scientists to assist with this BiWeReF. If you'll excuse me, I think I should go greet the God-King of Greater Sakha."

Galerius nodded.

"He's certainly a rum cove. Have you seen his eyes?" Galerius nodded, and winced slightly.

"I've met him, once." He remembered the Church's reaction to the last time he met with the God-King.

"It's like he's posessed," said James, "Still, his nation is powerful and I'm sure he wouldn't object to working with Sarawakh in the future."

OOC: Raja James II will treat the God-King as an equal, unlike his Uncle, whose beliefs about race were (how shall I put it?) a bit Victorian.

Because of the political situation barely ending the day before the coronation (lets just assume so yes? :P ) the delegations from the Eastern Empire was not able to attend the actual coronation ceremony, however as the reception was getting into full swing a final limousine drove up to the palace. On either end of the front of the limo flew a flag hated by Asians all over, however in light of the joyous setting of the occasion the guards personal feelings were put aside. The drive stepped out of the car and went around to open the passenger door. Dressed in traditional Dynastian ceremonial soldiers uniform Grendle stepped out of the vehicle with two Kree'sha officials following him (they are basically Dynastian delegates).

They walked up to the doors of the Palace ballroom and despite the better judgment of the guards outside the door, they opened it and announced the arrival of the Eastern Empire delegation. Never since the Van Deman Lands summit so many years ago had an Eastern Empire delegation been present in such a regional event such as this.

The room fell silent as every guest from the Norightsians to the delegation of the assassination army was surprised and even startled to hear and then seen the Dynastians delegations arrival.

Raja James II who was before about to get into a conversation with the God King was especially startled at the arrival. He knew that the Norightsians would be there and had prepared his self for a lengthy conversation with the Sakhan God King, however he was completely unprepared to host a Dynastian Delegation much less converse with them. However as he thought about it, he never did exclude the Eastern Empire from the guest list he just assumed they wouldn't attended.

Luckily for him Grendle made the first move as he and the other two delegates made their way straight to the new Raja Grendle spoke first:

Esteemed Raja James II, oh behalf of myself, new Sovereign Shing Tishomi and the entire Dynastian people let me congratulate you on your coronation and express to you the Empire's deepest sympathies towards the passing of your uncle...

Samantha Lucent: "Of course, father."

Raja James II was rather taken aback, but he was not disappointed at the arrival of the Dynastians.

"Thank you for your sympathy, and for your congratulation. I'm so happy that you could make it! Welcome to Kuching. I hope that your accomodations are to your satifaction?"

The Dynastians nodded, "They are suitable, yes."

"Excellent!" said the Raja, "Now, since Shoa Conn's downfall, Sarawakh and the NeoDynasty haven't had much contact. I would like to rectify the situation. How would you feel about a trade agreement?"

Grendle looked intrigued, "Perhaps, perhaps. One of the NeoDynasty's most profitable companies, oZ, has a branch in Singapore, so we already have a precedent set for such a deal."

"Smashing!" said the Raja. Grendle smiled to himself. If only he knew what oZ reall was... he thought.
