GREAT DENIZISTAN RADIO AND TELEVISION CORPORATION BUYUK DENIZISTAN RADYO VE TELEVIZYON KURULU
National News 20:00
Welcome to our special edition of our National News, I am Kerem Ozdilek. Here are the headlines: Great Denizistan has decided to cut off all its ties with the Tonguskan leadership after rumours of a coup by a white Russian general have been spreading, Tonguska's membership of CENTO has been cancelled, protests on the streets of Denizsehir today as elderly pensioners say the government is cutting back on their pensions and forgeting their contribution to the state, Foreign Minister Erman Oymen is in a special visit in Maratanica where he has met with Maratanican officials to discuss ways in which to improve Great Denizistani-Maratanican relations as well as possible Maratanican involvement in the operations in former Akam De, and finally we will go live to the National Space Center (BDMUM, Buyuk Denizistan Milli Uzay Merkezi) where NSC President Prof. Mehmet Isikara is scheduled to give a press conference on the announcement of sending an astronaut on the moon.
But first, let's start off with the current crisis in Tonguska. The government of Tonguska has officially been overthrown after Tonguska's involvement in neighbouring Central African Republic, a Russian general is claiming to be the new leader in charge of the Tonguskan government. Prime Minister Uygar Karoglu has said that such a seizure of power is illegitimate and that in no circumstances would Great Denizistan recognise such a government. He has urged allies inside CENTO to follow suit and to cut off ties with the new Tonguskan leadership. On a press conference later this evening, he had these words: "It is utterly shocking that such an event could have happened in Tonguska. We believe that it directly constitutes a violation of Tonguska's commitment to CENTO's founding principles. We do therefore hereby declare at this hour that all our ties with the Tonguskan regime have been officially cut off and that we have decided after an exceptional meeting with our other allies in CENTO to cancel Tonguska's membership of CENTO and that until the legitimate government of Tonguska is not put back in place, it shall remain banned from CENTO. We have also issued a warning to our UN Delegate Ruanda-Urundi that such events should require more UN reaction and we have urged them to discuss the current crisis in Tonguska in the Security Council. We hope that a consensus among SC members would emerge that Tonguska's regime should not be recognised in any circumstances". Far-Right Party leader Devlet Bahceli has said that "there is no reason of cutting off our ties with such a friendly and supportive nation such as Tonguska. In fact, we believe the current regime is much more representative of the realities of Tonguska, and we believe that the government again has taken the wrong decisions is sidelining one of our most precious allies in a totally unjustified way". Now, in other news, angry elderly pensioners have been protesting in central Denizsehir asking for a rebuttal of a government decision increasing the working age to 65. Some pensioners believe that there rights are being trampled on and that such a decision contradicts with the Republican People's Party's founding principles, that of social justice and equality. Some party backbenchers in Parliament are rebelling against that government proposal and asking it for being repealed. Opposition parties on the right have mainly been supportive of the move, adding that as the population is ageing, they believe it to be normal that people should work longer and retire later. We turn now live to Maratanica where our colleague Erkan Emeklioglu will give us precisions on Foreign Minister Erman Oymen's visit of the country. Erkan, how did the visit go for Foreign Minister Oymen?
Erkan Emeklioglu, reporter: Well, Kerem, senior officials from the Foreign Ministry have said "pretty well". They have added that the main purpose of the visit was to strengthen ties between Great Denizistan and Maratanica in both economic and trade areas, but also in political ones. As you know, relations had been recently at an all time low after former foreign minister's decision to intervene in Northern Maratanica, but it seems now Kerem that those differences are well in the past and that both parties aim at increasing their relations for common good. Both ministers had also discussed the possibility of a Maratanican presence in former Akam De, but it seems to this hour that negotiations are still ongoing and from our latest reports, the Maratanicans seem pretty receptive to the idea of sending troops to former Akam De. We'll give you more precisions as we get them.
Thanks, Erkan for that. Finally, as I had announced at the beginning, we are now going live to the National Space Center where NSC President Prof. Isikara is currently delivering a press conference on the news of sending a man on the moon in the coming weeks:
NSC President Prof. Isikara: Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen. I have the pleasure to announce to all of you a great news for our nation and for our people. After many efforts, many hard hours of work, we have designed our latest rocket that will send our most cherished astronaut Kerem Ozmen into space with the mission of landing on the moon and effectively becoming the first Denizistani having ever walked on the surface of our satellite. He will be heading a crew of three other astronauts: Captain Ali Yildiz, Lieutenant Taner Sigirtmac and Air Force Cadet Officer Serkan Tatlitug. I will take your questions now, but keep in mind that we have a very busy timetable, so I can stay only a couple of minutes. Thanks to all of you for being here again.
BDRT National News, Volkan Hazaroglu: Prof. Isikara, when did you take the decision to launch an astronaut to the moon? Has it been taken with the approval of the government?
NSC President Prof. Isikara: Well, Volkan, that decision had already been taken a few months ago when Prime Minister Karoglu visited our center. He said that after astronaut Kerem Ozmen had been launched into space. We had all agreed that our space program is of incredible importance for the development of our science, but also for own national prestige, and I shall add that PM Karoglu had specifically pledged to increase government spending in scientific research and had committed himself to support our space program in that respect.
CNN-Denizistan, Ugur Turan: How many days will the mission on the moon last? What are the aims of such a mission?
NSC President Prof. Isikara: On the first part, we have not yet finalised the decision regarding how many days our crew will stay on the moon. However, we believe that the ideal time will be about 5 or 6 days. I will give further details when we will have reached a consensus in that area. Regarding the aims, well they are pretty straightforward: we believe that such a mission will have incredible effects for our scientific research as our astronauts will be taking stones and dust from the moon that will be analysed by our most prominent scientists here in our center. We aim at increasing our knowledge of the moon and our ultimate goal will be to discuss the possibility of establishing a base on the moon in order to explore other planets such as Mars and Jupiter. Anyways, thank you very much for all of your questions, I do not have unfortunately more time to respond to them, as I'll have a meeting with his excellency the Defence Minister in a few minutes. Thanks again to all of you.
And that's it for Prof. Isikara's conference, thanks to all of you for tuning in, we wish to all of you a good evening.
Our government is disappointed that at such a chaotic time, Denizistan chooses to indulge in such activities that will be of little scientific benefit considering the Americans did this over 40 years ago.

I will just have it known that the Deniztani Astronauts are welcomed to visit the "Rome" Base. If any difficulties occur, we would be happy to assist these fellow space travelers in returning to Earth. However, the government has asked that any visitors of the facility be subject to AU Law, as well as not venture into restricted areas of the base. That is all.

That was just a common courtesy. Norightsia was already on the moon when Deniztan announced that it was trying for it also. I'm just being a good neighbor. Besides, as long as Norightsia is the only Catholic nation in Asia, it will continue to consider itself untouchable. Especially in this pontificate because it is unlikely that the Pope would excommunicate his family, friends, and hometown.

Whilst to an extent that is true you underestimate the power of the Catholic European Cardinals. They are the only ones who can bring the Pope down from his position and have him burned.
And, furthermore, they are beginning to get very annoyed at the attitude of Norightsia and their downright blatant disregard for some dogma (Cardinal Alonsa had his image of Norightsia smashed by attending the wedding and similar things are happening to other Catholic European Cardinals).

Not yet, he hasn't done quite enough to piss off a Norightsian Pope, but a future Pope may not be so kind, especially if the Cardinals get even more annoyed.

If confronted openly, GQ will back down on any Church related issue. Whilst not easily intimidated, he's been terrified of Hell since childhood. Flat out demand that he do something, and he will.

Well, it hasn't come to that yet. The Church doesn't want to alienate its strongest supporter.

Thanks! ;) :D
Well, I just wanted to let you know that you have no need to fear some kind of disobediance on GQ's part that you can't easily overcome. He will try to find a way around it, but if it does come to that, he will follow orders. Also remember that he was a Catholic European soldier for a while. He considers CE his homeland and will do anything to protect it.
